I scheduled a new appointment a few days ago for today, because as with so many products and services everything is backed up due to the pandemic for one reason or another. Unfortunately, the stylist I was going to see had sustained an injury, which of course happens. However, I didnt have much flexibility due to an upcoming surgery. I was crushed when I received the message from the stylist and with such limited time did not know what I would do other than take the scissors to my own hair (yikes).That said, the receptionist was very empathetic and she miraculously solved the problem by securing a different stylist, but on a very short notice. I was fine with that realizing my own lack of flexibility.I received my brand new hair style, which was quite a radical change - going from a shot bob to a very short pixie. The stylist, Charlotte did an amazing job, and was ultra pleasant, attentive, etc.The salon itself is very nice, and my overall experience was outstanding. I am very appreciative to the young lady who got me in with another stylist and was so understanding of my situation. I am equally appreciative of the stylist, Charlotte being able to take me on with such short notice and doing such an wonderful job.I would recommend this salon and will be a returning customer.

I was slightly apprehensive to have my hair high-lighted/low-lighted in order to hide my ever increasing gray to color ratio, but after the birth of our 4th baby and my 35th birthday, I decided It. Was. Time. =D So I looked up Aveda Salons in Richmond and discovered Salon 33. 5 minutes from my house and simply a gem! I am a brunette and I really like my natural hair color. I was so anxious that I wouldnt like how it turned out and I just really wanted the finished product to look natural and like me. I had no reason to be anxious! The salon itself was awesome, clean and comfortable and I got to see Charlotte who saw me initially for a consult to talk about my options and wishes. I came back for the actual appointment at a different date and Charlotte did a fabulous job. She has a wonderful eye for color and I am so happy with the finished product! She was both professional and personable and I definitely want to see her again in the future. I feel like my hair is pretty again and is definitely me just like I hoped. Thank you to Charlotte for all her help and taking time to listen and explain what she thought would work the best for me!

Salon33 is the best!! I’ve been going to see Mac for years now, and I have always left 100% happy and satisfied! Every cut and color work I’ve received at Salon33 has been an amazing experience. Mac takes so much care and attention to every part of your appointment. On top of that the entire staff is welcoming, the salon is always clean, and I’ve been received complementary drinks at every visit. Also I think it’s important to mention that I’ve been to Salon33 during this pandemic, and it’s clear they are taking incredible care into keeping their staff and clients safe. They have many measures in place that made me feel very comfortable and safe in their salon during this scary time. It’s such a comfort to know I can have a little bit of normalcy during this pandemic. Can’t recommend Salon33 enough!!!

I came here to take a good bit of length off and take my hair to a Jennifer Anniston blonde. When I booked my appointment I explained that Im a brunette with some color leftover on the lower portion of my hair from October and that I wanted a blonde bob with highlights. When I arrived Kelli initially told me she couldnt do my full color because I was only booked for highlights. When I explained that I booked for all three she agreed that I was right and to do all three services. When she took off the towel after applying the color I was a bit shocked at how dark it was. She told me my hair tends to run red which is why the portion with no prior color on it came out reddish brown instead of even slightly blonde. My hair has never run red before. She told me the ends were dark because color cant lift color, which there was a girl 2 chairs over who took her hair from purple to black. I should have argued more at the time but I was dealing with a migraine and thought maybe she knew what she was talking about. She told me to give it a few washes and see if it lightens. After washing and styling my hair at home and looking at it straight and not curled both the cut and color are horrible. The layers and blunt and chunky and not blended at all and the color is redish brown. She told me if it didnt lighten Id need to schedule a second appointment for an all over highlight to get my hair to lighten. This would start at an additional $135. For $300 at the very least my cut should be what I asked for and if she didnt think my hair would lighten to what I wanted with 1 appointment that should have been communicated to me at the beginning. Ive taken my hair blonde before with no issues but Ive never seen color applied before bleach to achieve this. At this point I feel cheated and like I deserve a refund. I attempted to contact the salon both on Instagram and leaving a voicemail to try to resolve this without just leaving a bad review but have heard no response.

There is a reason Salon 33 has all five star reviews. The warmth, welcoming and professionalism you feel from the front desk to the actual hairstylists is top notch. The people who work here don’t just know how to cut and style hair. They know all about hair health, maintenance, and the right look for each individual they serve. I was amazed at how personable each hairstylist was. This was my third time with Salon 33, and I will never go anywhere else. Shout out to Moriah who nourished my highlighted fine hair!

Went here with a brand new card because i have had a billing issue with this place before. I waited to use the new card until i was able to get a haircut. Well i had a statement for the salon as well as a dog store. Theres someone there stealing card info and theres only 2 or 3 different people who work behind the front counter.

This was my first salon experience....and it was great! Allie took my shaggy Covid hair and somehow made me ready for the real world again. I received a text the night before with a Covid survey, explaining their safety requirements and making sure I was not a risk. When I arrived, I was greeted by friendly staff, who confirmed my appointment, checked my temp and welcomed me in. The haircut was great, and the experience was relaxing and comfortable. Across the board 5-stars. Ill be back!

I had a great first experience here today with Moriah! She did an amazing job with my haircur today. She totally nailed it! The salon does a great job with social distancing and disinfecting. Everyone was so friendly too! Will definitely be back for my next cut!

I have used the same hairstylist for over 10 years and recently moved here to Richmond. I was VERY nervous about letting someone new color my hair. I am blonde and it is sometimes difficult to find a good stylist to make highlights look natural. All I can say is I am so happy I chose Moriah at Salon 33. She was SO considerate and understanding of my the nerves I was having. She took the time to communicate and listen to me at the start of the appointment so we were on the same page for what I wanted. She did an AMAZING job and took things slow with me. I will definitely be going back, I can’t say enough good things about her!!

Overall great location and atmosphere. Kelli was super sweet and did a very thorough job which I loved. She really paid attention to detail and helped me understand what everything did. The one downside was the price. It might have been my mistake for not checking the prices beforehand, but I asked for a cut and highlight, which was listed at $135. I didn’t know wash and blow dry as well as toner were each $30 more. I ended up spending so much more than I expected, but in the end I’m pretty happy with the result.

As always, Abby delivers wonderful service! My appointments are a treat I always look forward to and they are a respite in my busy days. Im always thrilled with the lovely/lively colors we add to my grey hair. Salon 33 has a pleasant atmosphere, clean and bright. I feel confident going to my appointments in the midst of Cv19 as they maintain mask and cleaning protocol. The Salon 33 team is friendly and I feel so welcome whether it is a chat on the phone or during my visit.

I was looking for an Aveda salon stylist because I have always been impressed with Aveda salons. Studio 33 was impressive. Their web page gave me confidence through reading up on their stylists what I could expect at my haircut appointment. They were very professional and Kelli who cut and styled my hair was sunshine in my day.

Love the added safety measures of the temp check, marked areas, & especially the curtain partition in the hair washing section. And most importantly, I LOVE my hair!!! Moriah was super easy to talk to and understood exactly what I wanted. I will definitely be rebooking with her!!

Allie was incredible, professional, quick, and left me with the most stunning color blend Ive ever seen and a super cute cut. The entire experience from check-in, to chair, to check-out was friendly, organized, professional, and very comfortable (I say this as a very socially anxious individual. ) COVID precautions were in place and they even offered me a mask so hair color wouldnt get on mine. I am very pleased to call Salon 33 my new home for hair adventures, and am excited to go back in 6 weeks.

Having had bad experiences in the past, I went to Salon33 on a whim and was my expectations were - and have consistently been for the last 2 years - blown out of the water. Kylie is the salon manager and always greets each customer with overwhelming positivity and kindness. She is a great addition to the salon and takes the time to remember each customer, always willing to have friendly conversation. Even on busy days, it is clear she is able to juggle multiple things at once and deliver top-notch service.I have consistently been seeing Mac to get my hair cut and styled since day 1. Not only is Mac extremely courteous to all customers, but he is amazing at what he does! Weve played around with different hair styles and lengths and Mac is always willing to educate on the best ways to achieve those new style goals. He provides great conversation or will just let you relax in the chair while vibing to music. First time having a haircut, since the mandatory closures began, and things could not have gone any smoother. From the check in with the Pocket Salon app, being met by Stephanie at the door with a mask and hand sanitizer, to the actual haircut, everything was seamless. The Salon has done a fabulous job of adapting to the difficult circumstances we are dealing with right now. Everything was clean and thoroughly sanitized, and check out station was brought right to your chair, where you were able to purchase product, schedule new appointment and check out. Wonderful job and commendations to the whole crew at Salon 33. Only negative was I missed the traditional scalp massage and wonderful hair washing! You guys are awesome!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️❤️

This place is not for anyone on a budget. I have learned my lesson to ask for the price prior to receiving services. With the amount i paid i should of walked out of there feeling like a million bucks but instead im feeling sick to my stomach because i truly do not like my new look or the price i paid to get it

Easily the best haircut Ive had. MJ did an awesome job with my hair, including fixing a problem that several other stylists have never had success with. She is incredibly nice to talk with, diligent in her work, and genuinely cares to deliver quality service. The haircut also includes optional head/shoulder massage, and a hand massage. Ive never had such a relaxing and enjoyable haircut experience. The entire staff is friendly and personable, the location is convenient, and the space/atmosphere is great.

I rarely write reviews, but had to give 5 stars for my experience tonight at Salon 33. As someone who doesnt love getting their haircut (it had been over a year.....), this definitely changed my entire experience going forward. Abby was amazing and made the experience an enjoyable one vs one I dread. I was told my desired look would take 1 or 2 treatments. Turned into 3 which was more money than I was expecting. Received no reminder about my last appointment and now I am not able to return to finish my hair due to a “no show” so I feel like I wasted a good amount of money to start something I can’t finish. Did a good job I just wish they were more transparent and all other salons, I go to give appointment reminders.

I just had an awesome experience with Miranda. My hair where completely messed up from previous extensions that I had. But she still made my hair look and feel the best way possible. Also she took her time to advice me how to handle my hair properly. The conversation with her was amazing and we laughed alot. The price was absolutely reasonable for the service that you get. And she didnt try to sell me a bunch of stuff. (Still I left the shop with an extra Treatment) She is such a sweet person and made me feel very comfortable and well treated. Thumbs up!

Im a longtime client at Salon 33. They moved into a great space a few years ago but I come in for the great service. I always feel like Im in good hands -- stylist Stephanie is a true professional who is generous with her knowledge and expertise. Aveda salons always smell wonderful -- even when Im getting my hair colored. Prices are reasonable for the quality of work -- just ask up front as you discuss your service and there wont be any surprises. I like the small touches like fixing you up with a mug of their super relaxing tea while you settle in. I trust their advice on products and can ask for recommendations without getting a hard sell. Its a pretty well run salon that prioritizes the clients experience and satisfaction. Would recommend.

I searched high and low for years to find the right salon for me in Richmond, and I am SO happy that I finally found Salon 33! The space is beautiful and bright, the staff is warm and kind, and the studio recycles almost every single thing in the salon (including the hair!) which is really special and unique. And don’t even get me started on my amazing stylist, Moriah! She is supremely talented at her craft, but what’s even more important to me is that she is extremely intuitive. I can either show up to my appointment with pictures of what I’m inspired by, or I can show up completely empty handed saying “should I get bangs?” (aka a cry for help 😂) and every single time, she somehow knows exactly what I need and NAILS IT. every. single. time. I’m so grateful to have found this place and these people. Can not recommend Salon 33 enough!!!

Abby is great for naturally curly hair! She knows how to cut it! Shes been my stylist for years and also does great hi-lites/low-lites and helped me grow out and accent my going grey hair! We now just trim on occasion and add in lovely bits of fun color. I get compliments all the time! And very lovely shop too! I have to add comment too about the great towel twist technique Sydney does after washing hair. Simple twist that keeps towel in place until Im ready to comb it out. I use all the time now at home. 😃

Made an appointment after a disappointing experience elsewhere in Richmond. I am new to the area and needed to find a new salon. Well, I found one. Nice, comfortable, friendly place and I woke up the next morning very happy with how my hair looked. Kellie did a great job.

Mac really takes his time and will ask questions and listen to the customers needs. He also does a wonderful job with color. The color and coverage is phenomenal.

Moira was friendly and competent. She did exactly what I asked and gave me a great haircut.

Great stylists. There was a miscommunication on their end so my appointment got canceled but they didn’t tell me but they felt so bad they squeezed me in anyway. Also one of the stylists worked with me a ton to find the perfect color to dye my hair- I had never before but i was going on a trip and I wanted a change.

Absolutely love this salon!! Its warm, inviting, bustling all the time!! I love Robert, and the staff is always so friendly and welcoming. I was excited to get squeezed in for a last minute appointment I needed. Sydney did a great job for me yesterday!!! Just cant say enough about this place!!

Abby Hancock and her team did an amazing job doing my hair and makeup for my wedding earlier this month. Salon 33 created a beautiful up-do that exceeded my expectations, and which received several compliments throughout the day. They also did a superb job creating gorgeous up-dos for my wedding party. The salon team went out of their way to haul all of their gear to my hotel, at an affordable cost, and make me feel special. Whether for a wedding or just a cut, I highly recommend Salon 33 for all hair treatment needs. Thanks again, Salon 33!

The staff provided great service from the moment I walked in the door. Extremely personable and provides great guest service. Mac was focused and attentive to my haircut and showed a passion for his work. I highly recommend Mac at Salon 33 as well as any of their staff.
