Is the best great place to work at great people awesome
All the rigs look so clean...means they take pride!
Called three times for a recruiter. Never got one. Ended up going with a different company. Couldnt get ahold of anyone so never got to see how they were.
One of their drivers zig-zagging through traffic got very emotional on CB radio using foul gutter language due to his impatience in heavy traffic on I95 near CT/NY line, because I was doing the speed limit. Not professional at all. Ive seen this type before, ...its only matter of time before hes one of those mangled tractors on our highways, causing a huge traffic jam at an accident site.
Very clean and they went out of there way to help me out
Good place to work at.
Great place to work and lots of good ppl. I think we have the best equipment on the road. You can always distinguish an Abilene truck on the road from that pretty green coming down the road..Trucking is up and down industry but if you find a good company stay with them. Sometime the grass is not greener down the road...
Low pay and worst management ever. They dont care about drivers here your just a number and favoritism at its best. They cheat you out of miles and lie. Dont fall victim to this company and if so just get your experience and go. Its been a lot of revolving doors around here from drivers to office personnel.
They work rapidly and lets you know if there are any other problems with your truck
Good place to be. Great people here, All friendly. Nice trucks. Nothing over 3 years old.
Abilene use to be a great company to drive for when the Jones brothers were running the show. One great thing i can actually say, is that they have gotten me home whenever i needed to be, and for as long as i needed to be. Their equipment has all the entry level beginner electronic training wheels. Collision mitigation, lane departure warning system and the blindspot warning systems installed on all their trucks. Kenworth T680, Volvo VNL 760 and 860, and a few Freightliner Cascadia make up their fleet. Dispatching is where this company suffers from the most, besides their low pay compared to industry standards. They only have a few customers they haul freight for. Exclusive and not diversified. Yes, their trucks are governed at 71mph on cruise, 67 or 68 on the pedal, depending on what truck you get assigned. Their pay starting out here is well below industry standard. Depending on the motivation of the driver manager youre under, will depend on how many miles you have in a week. Average for me has been between 2200 and 3100 at $0.40 a mile. Very often is the situation that after a delivery is complete, the average time waiting on the next load dispatched on you is between 2 to 4 hours. Most of the time once that information comes to you, the load youre picking up next will be already late to be picked up. Abilene, you guys need to focus on driver retention. Truthfully, the starting pay needs to be raised. You need to honor the 250k, 500k and million milers. The pay needs adjusted where somebody with 5 years of experience doesnt start at the bottom level of the pay scale, and be the same amount as somebody that just got assigned their first truck from being on the trainers truck training. They do have a monthly mileage bonus, however youll never see it. As you get close youll notice your sitting around time after deliveries continue to be extended. This is not competitive around the greater Richmond area. I clearly understand that all companies have their flaws. Their shop is beyind sub par. A 36 hour advance notice ahead of arrival to have truck PM scheduled. Everything breakdown related now goes through Knight Transport, their parent company. This is actually a benefit compared to the Volvo Action Service that they use to use. Abilene, you have the potential to be a great company to drive for. Once all these items listed above are addressed, Abilene will have more applications than they do trucks available. Until then, you will continue to lose the good drivers, and wont be able to get rid of the bad drivers. Stop with the quantity over quality mentality. Get back to the days of 2 years experience, no accidents, no incidents in order to be hired on here.
One of your drivers on 270S near Washington D.C. around 06:20 needs to be re-educated in driving etiquette. While driving, he turned to look at me and flipped me off without provocation. If drivers dont look out for fellow drivers, who will? The guy was on 495, heading towards 95S as of 06:45.
Great company and the best trucking company to work for. If you have a class A CDL come join the family.
Truck 21086 fallowing way too close
Ive worked with Abilene for quite a few months and have had no issues. I deal almost directly with Victor F. there and hes very knowledgeable/understanding and willing to work with me on our lanes. Goes above and beyond for me.
I would have given more stars, but the trainer I had verbally abused me and I got all 8 of them on recording. I was let go from the company and I turned in a copy of all 8 recordings. Did they reprimand him? Did they fire him for verbal abuse to a trainee? No. He still works for them. I got messed over and he got to keep his job. So no more than 1 star until the company does what is right!
Fired me for something I didn’t do they obviously don’t care about their employees
This company does not care about their drivers. They lie consistently, management dont communicate to you. Many times I called but they did not responded to me. Sent email no respond. Or if finally answer they still lie. TO YOU ABILENE MANAGEMENT IF YOU WANT I CAN SHOW YOU HOW MANY TIME I CALLED TEXT OR E-MAILED YOU. STOP DOING THE WRONG THING.
Great place to work and very knowledgeable and friendly management
It was a great company to drive for. While I will admit, me not being there anymore is pretty much my fault, what they( Abilene) did afterwards was pretty much theirs. They put some very inaccurate and untrue things on my Hireright/DAC report that may keep me from getting another job in the future. (I am now in the process of disputing these inaccuracies with Hireright/DAC.). To anyone thinking about going to work for Abilene, I have this for you; They are a decent company to work for....... As long as you do everything youre suppose to do, you can get plenty of miles and make a decent paycheck. HOWEVER if you have to leave Abilene, for any reason, make ABSOLUTELY SURE that what they put on your Hireright/DAC report is accurate, because they WILL put inaccuracies and untrue things on your Hireright/DAC report that can hurt you.
They treat you great until they change their mind. I was told that they wanted me to run a terminal then bam fired. The pile so much work on until you can not see and then sit back and wait for you to fail or mess up. Or they just make something up to fire you. I would not want to work there ever again. Plus managment does not have any kind people skills (come in yelling about everything wrong and how terrible the whole company is). I have never seen this much of a turn around ever. If people keep leaving then that has to say something about managment dont you think.
Was cut off by two separate drivers today, one had the nerve to call my boss and report me for bad driving for passing them when I had the opportunity so as to not get cut off again. Your drivers need to be more considerate of other motorists.
Great Company To Work For...Great Pay Plus Miles
Ez to find. Just off interstate. Nice place.
Top notch
Worst drivers in the industry almost ran me off the road had to use the emergency lane to avoid a accident truck number 20061
Private company lot. Always plenty of room. 3 nice showers. Cheap washer and dryer for drivers to use. Company maintenance shop and fuel. Company is driver oriented and most drivers and guards around the US speak highly of this companies drivers.
This Abilene Motor Express truck driver (truck #6550, license plate AE 4669) was weaving in and out of traffic today (Wednesday 12/12/18 at 1:24 P.M.) on I-64 West going through Charleston, West Virginia. If it werent for the observant, experienced driver of our school 18-foot van, this truck would have side-swiped our school van containing students and teachers and likely caused a horrific accident on a major highway. He was driving so dangerously that our driver was trying to anticipate his next move and if our driver had not slammed on his brakes so hard that all passengers in our vehicle were thrust forward (well see if we have whiplash tomorrow), then we would have been in a terrible accident.Abilene Motor Express, please look into this drivers performance before he seriously hurts someone. He had grey hair and grey facial hair and was smoking a cigarette.
Had to do a drop, nice showers trailer spots are kinda tight
Great Company To work for.
Best company in USA....my second home....Working here 6 happy years...never leave them...
Ran across team drivers today...in San diego,ca....almost got assaulted by driver...because I was making to much noice... what kind of drivers you hire....I am 67 years old and almost got beat up...no respect..no honor...nothing but a coward...When he gets to terminal nothing will happen...nothing but disrespect...truck #1807..
Drop yard for hubbys company, easy to find
Great people, and friendly. They will give you every opportunity to prove yourself. Highly recommend
Good easy going people that treats you like family
Awesome company. They take care of their drivers. Their facilities are kept very clean.
Im just glad hubby left. When it was owned by the Joness, drivers and family were treated with respect and miles werent used as a method to reprimand or push you out. Benefits are expensive and bad coverage unless you want to pay 800 plus a month. Hopefully, Knight will clean it up and make some much needed changes.
Didnt go in.
Best Trucking company to Work for!
Well this has to be one of the best companies to work for if you arent lazy and enjoy great equipment and the open road!! You just arent a # here you are a commodity and youre treated as such. If you arent getting the miles or loads here you must not be a driver for Abilene! Drive the Green!
A an Opportunity thats Given its Up to you as a Driver to Excel I Been at Abilene since March 2013 as a Company Driver Im over Satisfied and Greatful - Bleed Green
Best trucking company thats is run by the best family in the country.
Great place to work they treat I like family one of the best small companies to work for
Great company very friendly staff and driver oriented they treat there drivers like human beings not robots
Great
Best trucking company to work for ever !!!
Decent company, fairly well featured equipment.Pros:>High Governor Speeds most are 70mph+.>Fueling is open within market, you choose when and where you fuel.>Onsite truck wash, drivers lounge, and showers.>Loads tend to be light and respectably distanced, you can get good mileage if youre up to the challenge.>Dispatch is quite good at keeping you under stable loads whether you prefer long distance hauls or more regional/local work. That comes with the caveat that sometimes you will have a few odd loads sprinkled in random weeks due to other units being out of service or because of holidays.Cons:>All units lack proper stop/start (opti-idle) functionality, making it easy to fall asleep and accidently drain batteries.>Maintenance periods can be extremely long, and cause days and even weeks of equipment downtime depending on severity. Usually drivers will be switched to loaner trucks.>PM intervals are long, leading to unit inefficiency and loss of power, units are high mileage many in access of 400k miles>Units do not share engines or drivetrain making repairs and roadside service much more complex and costly because of proprietary parts and service techniques.>Prior payscale is not taken into account if below a certain experience threshold, and sometimes amount to a 4-8 cpm net loss for new drivers.
Best trucking company in the u.s by far
AWESOME CO TO DRIVE FOR... WE LOVE IT HERE..
I work here.
This is the lousiest company in the United States to work for. If you are thinking of becoming an employee keep searching. They deduct money from your check for loans that do not exist, they leave you sitting far more than you will ever move, and they pay less than majority of the companies in the trucking business. Abilene does not require ASE Certification for their mechanics and it definitely shows. Their mechanics, except for Shane who works evenings, are the laziest group of men I have ever seen. A P.M. leaves you sitting for 3 days. And no, they do not pay detention pay. They try to make it sound so good when you come to work here, but it is all smokeblowing. 85% of the time the paperwork is wrong, so u have to wait when picking up a load for the correct load number, the owner is always on vacation, the dispatchers are clueless (except Paul in Wytheville, Va-he needs to be Abilenes owner bc he is awesome at his job). The company needs to be overhauled desparately, and they will never quit being outside smoking long enough to get that done. It is a VERY clique type company, if you are in the clique and a rump kisser, you will do good, but dont stand up for yourself bc you will get mowed over and will be forced to do things that jeopardize your CDLs regarding DOT weights and scales and dodging scale houses. Yeah, Abilene, youre welcome for my honest opinion. My parents raised me to always be honest. This message paid for by myself.
They need to raise there pay for both solo and teams smdh 🙄
My friend drives for them... They have dispatchers who dont care.. just like the other companies
Need to treat their employees right
