GenCare Renton at The Lodge offers an extraordinarily high level of care and attention. I called many similar assisted living facilities, on my mother-in-laws behalf, and many seemed only interested in the financial part of it (who was going to pay, etc.).GenCare Renton was only focused on how they could help and even helped my mother-in-law to make the right decision in terms of the type of unit and other details. It also ended up being the most economical option for her to stay several weeks while recovering from a fall. The entire staff is very dedicated and there is a high ratio of staff and residents. Someone is always available and ready to help. One specific situation that comes to mind is when my mother-in-law locked herself out of the unit on a 4th. of July and someone helped her immediately, even though that day there was reduced staff.I cant recommend GenCare Renton at The Lodge enough.
I was pretty overwhelmed after my parent suffered a major injury. They couldn’t be home by themselves and needed a safe and caring place to heal. From the moment I entered The Lodge, the staff put me at ease, allowed me to express my needs, and listened. Warmth and caring is what I observed as I was shown around. So many planned activities and things to do and see. After the visit, I was relieved that I had found the “perfect” spot for my parent. The staff is attentive and focuses on the care and well being of the resident. I have found the staff goes well beyond what’s expected to address issues, small or large ( actually there haven’t been any large issues 😌).From the Executive Director to the Concierge staff, my experience has been nothing but remarkable. Their professionalism and communication are consistent.I highly encourage anyone seeking a safe place for a love one to give The Lodge a try.Signed A Loving & Appreciative Son
We asked Leasa if she would be able to bake a Mother’s Day cake for us. Leasa checked and was able to do this. It was a beautiful Carrot Cake. The cake was also gluten free and sugar free since Betty has Diabetes and Celiac disease. The food was the reason we moved here initially. The kitchen staff is certified for Diabetes and Celiac disease. Leasa and her great staff have been very helpful in answering questions as well. Leasa is a wonderful asset to GenCare. Our family not only enjoyed the cake but the time spent with us was special because of it.Don and Betty Lervold
The whole team at GenCare are exceptional! Kathy keeps her team running like a well oiled machine 😊.
The GenCare staff are attentive, thoughtful, respectful and strive to cultivate the physical and emotional health of the residents. The GenCare facility is pleasant and comfortable. The landscape is beautiful: lined by trees to the west and gorgeous views of Renton to the east. Our family members are very pleased to be residents of GenCare Renton at The Lodge.
My mom loves living at The Lodge in Renton. She is stress-free because her housekeeping, food and daily care is taken care of by a dedicated and professional staff.
As a resident of The Lodge, I would like acknowledge our Vitality Department. They think of so many ways for us to take part and be entertained at the same time. Once a month we have a Vitality planning meeting open to all residents for input and ideas. This makes us feel we have a part in planning what we are going to do. Our Vitality Director is excellent at implementing our ideas for outings, games and events on a regular basis. There are mind games, physical games, outings and transportation to appointments if needed. All of this is featured each month in the Newsletter and Calendar. You can be as busy as you want to be!All of this is done with a lot of love from the staff not counting all the interruptions when something comes up unexpectedly. When I first moved in because of circumstances I was slow in socializing. Through the help of staff and friends I got interested in the games and meeting people. Those people became wonderful friends. It is great! I no longer feel alone, I feel loved. This is my extended family.
You hear stories about places like this hurting people who cant defend themselves and or neglecting them but I really thought this one would be different. The staff are heartless and cruel and have zero shame about it. If you happen to have a family member who is entered as independent you better hope they dont get hurt and need help because the staff decides who to help by the floor they are on. They have an emergency button to push when in need of help but no one came when it was pushed. I had to call the front desk to request help for my family member as I was snowed in on Christmas and couldnt get there myself. The rude front desk clerk or nurse, whatever they are could not be bothered with and rudely told me she would check on my family member who fell and sprained their ankle. She hung up on me before I could get another word in. When I called my family member to check on them as I wasnt able to get that info from the front desk I was told that they were made to feel bad about the staff checking on them. We were also told before this that the nurse there is unwilling to help elderly clients when in need of help. Lots of false advertising and the lack of shame over this behavior is truly amazing. My family member is avoiding the staff and stays locked in the apartment so she isnt bullied by them and or watching them whisper about her when she passes by. I strongly suggest talks no to multiple residents before moving your loved ones in here. The price they charge doesnt reflect the service at all. Btw they dont even serve a warm meal to residents on Christmas, a sandwich was her Christmas dinner since I was unable to pick her up in the snow.
Julie Wells the Vitality Director asked me to come do a class once a week. I have gotten to know residents and they have a wonderful time in the class. I see residents doing many different activities at The Lodge. They have chair volleyball, play Rumikube everyday, they have special activities as well, like a Casino Day, and other holiday events throughout the year. The residents look like they really enjoy themselves. Some of the less cognasent residents sit in the lounge together and Julie will go out and play memory games with them. They get Lodge Loot they can spend 2 times a year at a silent auction. This is a place I could see myself living at in the future. Ive gotten to know some of the employees. They are likable and they treat the residents like family. Everyone has a great time there.
My name is Margie, and after over six months of being here I feel that I know enough to write a review. After I had my stroke my daughter and I will look into a lot of different places and I’m happy to say that out of all of them GENCARE exceeded my expectations 100%. From the first time that I walk downstairs for dinner I was greeted by the servers who explained everything to me about our menus and our plans for our dining pleasure. The food here not only taste good but it is presented in a clean atmosphere and all of the workers in the kitchen are so attentive to everyone’s needs. There’s a movie theater here which I enjoy, there’s the canoe lounge where we hang out and talk and play games and just socialize. A complete gym along with physical therapist that I’m more than happy to work with you one-on-one or in a group. The front desk is always careful of who comes in and goes out they know all of the residence by first names which I found impressive with so many people living here along with their family members. My daughter was impressed when she walked through the front doors with me and they greeted her by first name as if we were friends forever. We have a nursing staff on the second floor that is always on the run and when they’re not attending people in the rooms they come through out the lounge area and the dining room area and check up on all of us individually and talk to the residence one on one which I found completely impressive. We have a recreational staff that is always so happy to meet our needs when it comes to driving into town and helping us run all our errands they help us in and out of the van and even help us with our bags to our floors if need be these women who do transportation anticipate our needs before we even ask them. I have a house cleaning staff that comes in and helps clean my room and they’re always friendly and if I want a little extra done all I have to do is ask for it and there they are. The administrative staff are always around and outside of the office to check up on everyone within the building and the floors. I may have been scared when I first came into GENCARE over six months ago but I now see the residence as well as the staff members as family who care and look out for me. My daughter has told not only me but the staff and administrative people and the residence that she is so grateful that out of all the other places we chose this one and this give my daughter peace of mind. I personally thank God every night when I go to sleep for being here at GENCARE, these people have been caring for me since day one and I’m truly grateful for each and everyone of them.
I came to Gencare 3 years ago to be a part time caregiver to one of the residents. This person suffered from severe Alzheimers and dementia. She was the sweetest lady and I witnessed nothing but compassion and love from the staff in regards to her continuing level of care. Even after the family moved my resident elsewhere, I have continued to volunteer at Gencare. I polish the nails of the residents 2 days a week. I am usually at Gencare 2-3 days per week (2-4 hours a day). I dont always come on the same days or times, so I feel I am uniquely qualified to critique the facility. The highlight of my week is when I come to Gencare. I truly love the staff and I know how much they all love the residents- its apparent in the way they interact with them. This is where I would like to come when its my time for assisted living. I talk with the ladies while I am polishing their nails and everyone loves it there. They have so many wonderful activities and field trips (haha!) and they have all made really wonderful friendships there. I LOVE Gencare❤️👍
