Excellent experience ✨Looked my car over thoroughly and went over the bill in detail and explained everything to me. I feel there is definitely loyalty to the customer and you don’t find that much anymore. Very reasonable price! They even called me a few days later and asked how my car was running. Very late on this review. Many moons ago, we had a Chrysler Town and Country which had dropped into limp mode. I called one of the local Chrysler dealers, and they quoted a price which essentially totaled the T&C. Called Affordable, they gave us a range (sight unseen) from cheap to about 1/2 the Chrysler price. I got the van there, they looked at it and were able to replace the transmission with a rebuilt one for substantially less than their worst case price, saving our van for a few more years until a new driver was texting and sideswiped the van.Well done.

My car was making a noise for nearly 3 months. I had went to nearly 10 different professionals and no one could tell me what the problem was they would say it was this or that and it never was. I ended up paying nearly 5000 for repairs only for the noise to still be there. Took it to affordable transmissions once and they found the problem within 2 hours . Great staff fast and efficient.

Let me tell you that I have always done most all my own repairs, 95% of the time myself and our son can tackle a vehicle repair. We just decided to take our truck in to get the transmission leak repaired by a pro. Plus Im tired of laying on the garage floor. SO we took it to Affordable Trans. to have them repair it. The NEW owners as of 4-1-21 are the very best! PERIOD. The staff is knowledgeable, and VERY friendly. We observed how they handle other customers while we waited for our truck repair and they treat customers as valuable assets to their business. I have 100% confidence in taking my vehicles back there anytime. Thanks to Missy, Chuck, Dave, Dave, Barry and the guys we didnt catch their names. You are GREAT!!!!!!

My experience with Affordable Transmission was EXCELLENT!!I can’t say enough about this business.Todd, my wife and me had several problems with our vehicle over months and months, moving to California and leaving our car in Raleigh NC . But this gentleman went TOTALLY OVER AND BEYOND the repairs for my wife’s vintage 1989 Mazda Mx 6, 2.2 liter Turbo. Todd restored transmission AND motor at an affordable price.This car runs damn near like a brand new car. I’d rather drive this car than my 2016 Camaro. Missy and Chuck were fantastic. They had more car ready even though they were very busy. Missy kept in contact with me the entire time and worked with me on the payment. I recommend this shop to anyone with any needs of auto repair. They completely rebuilt my transmission and its running smoother then when I bought the car. This is a real review, they had my car ready in less than a week. My transmission came with a warranty and I will continue to go to them for my car shop needs!

Affordable is really nice, professional and very helpful. I brought my 2005 Honda Pilot originally in for a driver light flashing. They quickly diagnose the issue and were able to repair it the following week. Then they found some additional issues that they shared with me. They showed me on my vehicle that my my motor mounts and transmission mount were broken, as well as some other issues. They ordered the parts and were able to fix it in three days. They even worked past 6 o’clock closing time to get it done. The price was also great compared to other shops. I highly recommend them.

I now refer to Todd at Affordable transmissions as my “car angel.” My car lost power on I440 after months of repairs and fortunately it made it here for a diagnostic. There is a reason the parking lot was packed! The honest assessment showed it was not the transmission and given the unexpected costs of what it did need, Todd provided the diagnostic for free! The honesty, care and concern for stranded customers is often hard to find but you will find it here! Sincerely, a grateful teacher.

Very professional and great customer service. My water line had to be replaced and they gave me an excellent price for the service. They were quick in repairing my vehicle. Everyone was very kind and had great mannerisms. Most importantly, they made sure I understood what was being done to my vehicle and that I felt comfortable every step of the way. I would recommend this place to all.

Communication is poor. Had to call several times during the week just for them to ultimately tell me there was a problem with my transmission when the vehicle was brought in to have it rebuilt specifically. This is the only auto shop that I know that doesnt work Saturday or sundays, I’m not sure how they get any work done since my car was brought on monday and wasnt even glanced at till friday before close.

They are very nice and helpful. They rebuilt the transmission for my 2003 Honda Accord back in November and they did a great job and it was a good price. When I thought an issue with my transmission recently they told me to bring it right back in because they stand by their work. Luckily my transmission was fine. Both times I had only positive interactions with them.

They just waisted my time they told me I was going to be seen today and they did not even got to my car. I was in a hurry because I need the car for the next day. If I would it know I would it took it to another shop. I especifically ask to be fix today and they told me yes come over. I didnt even get a phone call from them.

Great knowledge, customer service and turn around time!

Avoid this company at all costs. They kept our car for two months trying to “diagnose” the issue with it. They never called us to inform us what was going on with our vehicle. My wife had to call them to get any information. They’re rude and don’t care that you are without a vehicle. Be prepared to get cut off when you’re trying to talk. The owner will talk about his health history to try to justify that his employees are awful. The former receptionist told my wife and I that she forged my wife’s signature to push some paperwork through. These people also admitted that they did some extra work without our permission. They replaced some parts and never told us nor authorized it through us. These are some of North Carolina’s worst people. Do not use them. They replace parts just to make money. Another transmission shop said that they didn’t need to replace everything they replaced. Stay away from this company. Do not believe the positive reviews about these crooked liars. Our car started having the same exact problem that they “fixed” just days after getting it back. Awful service and company.

I needed a total clutch replacement in my Subaru Impreza. Todd and Liz towed my vehicle over from Southern States Subaru for free and offered me a much more affordable price for the job. The job was completed very promptly. Customer service was was excellent. Todd and Liz were very patient and thorough with all my inquiries. I was told to bring my vehicle back in 25-30 days just for a check up to make sure everything is running how it should. I recommend taking your vehicle here for affordable, timely, honest work. I love them they tell me what wrong with my transmission

I should have look at the reviews more closely before I went and spent $3,000 to get my transmission rebuilt. When I got it back, my gears would not shift properly, my manual mode was not working (which had worked completely fine before hand), and when I put my car in park it rolled backwards. I took it back to Todd for him to fix and asked him why my manual mode was no longer working. He told me that he did not hook it up so I wouldn’t “beat on it” and to bring it back a few days later for him to hook up. Todd only fixed 1 of the 3 problems I had brought to him AFTER he had originally “rebuilt my transmission.” When I returned for the third time, I asked him to hook up my manual mode and he told me that he had already plugged it up and there was nothing he could do. Obviously not...because my manual mode is still not working and it hold gears at high RPMs.

I checked out several businesses before choosing Affordable Transmission which got good reviews from friends as well. I went in for what I thought was a transmission issue and Todd checked the car a few times and decided it was a wheel bearing issue. Todd was very honest and said he would not touch the transmission until he ruled out other issues. He was right and he also saw my back brakes were bad. What could have been a very expensive repair cost me half as much due to Todd and his team checking out possibilities instead of just doing what I had asked about. Great customer services is more than a smile. When the company demonstrates how they care about their customers-thats a win every time.

Bad experience the waiting time is ridiculous. I got there at 8:15 I didnt leave till 9:15 like you have business coming in but youre in the back room talking on the phone you need more employees to help out cuz I had to be somewhere at a certain time and I came early for a reason.

Amazing staff, worked with me to make sure what I wanted done was done. Took my Ford Focus up there to get the transmission diagnosed. After being diagnosed it was decided it the transmission needed to be rebuilt. Guy did it for cheap, and quickly. Very friendly staff and I very much enjoyed the conversation we had when I picked up my car. Great job.

I have nothing but great things to say about Todd and his staff. My transmission went out back in May. I had some financial struggles, talked with Todd and his staff and they were more than patient with me. Any other mechanic would have wanted their money upfront. Todd also let me know step by step of what needed to be done to my car and asked if I wanted the work done before he proceeded, and that was greatly appreciated. All in all, I would recommend them if you have any issues with your transmission. Great job and great staff.

TOTAL CON-ARTISTS!!! Almost $4,000 to replace an exhaust gasket, bolts and exhaust manifold. In addition to keeping my truck for a week, They also over charge me compared to the my receipt. I bought my vehicle from a dealership in sanford with transmission issue. I first took to it to Toyota dealer for diagnosis they called four hours and told me that the transmission was broken and needed to be replaced then i call Affordable Transmission & auto repair in Raleigh and took the car to their shop. It took less than a minute to diagnose it and fix it.I would recommend anyone to get their car fixed at Affordable Transmission & Auto Repair. They are very professional and very affordable place.

I highly recommend this place. I got to know Affordable transmission by searching on Google. I read some of the reviews and decided to see for myself. My car, Hyundai Santa Fe 2005, had oil leaks from the transfer case and symptoms of a faulty transmission. Due to my financial constraints, I planned to only fix the oil leak from my transfer case. I was scared of fixing transmission issues because of the financial expenses involved. In addition, two mechanics I visited in the Raleigh area could not provide me any reasonable warranty. However, Mr. Todd (the owner of Affordable Transmission), decided to do a thorough check on my transmission system. The result came out bad. Indeed, my car had transmission issues. Mr. Todd did not charge me for the check on my car. He gave me a good deal to rebuild my transmission system and went ahead to work once a part of the fee was provided. I was impressed with his knowledge of my car system. I must confess, Mr. Todd and his team of mechanics have good engineering knowledge of the mechanics of a vast number of cars, just name it. More importantly, I got a 12 month warranty on the service they offered. That means, I can bring my car back to them if I find any reoccurring or related issues. This is what sets them apart from other mechanic shops that I visited. Mr. Todd said to me, any mechanic who trust his workmanship will not be scared to put a warranty on their service. Given this experience, I will recommend Affordable Transmission to anyone with issues with their transmission system, transfer case leaks, differentials etc. Make sure you ask for the warranty on repairs. Mr. Todd is not scared to make the deal.

I was quoted $1700 for repair. After a week of having the car I was contacted and advised it would be $4000 to repair the original transmission. Alternative was to replace with salvage transmission which was a total of about $2200 which was suppose to have been tested with no issues. Day one of picking the vehicle up it wouldn’t go into gear, a service tech played around and fixed it. The transmission still seemed to have issues and was advised to drive the car and the transmission would adjust to my driving style. The salvage transmission only had a thirty day warranty but did not cover labor. The transmission worked for about a month and a half, took vehicle to ford for diagnostic and was advised clutch needs to be replaced which is $1700. I do not recommend this shop Todd does not stand by his word.

I went to Affordable Transmission based upon their reviews. I was having a issue with my transmission which actually turned out to be nothing. Eddie was very honest and didnt try to up sell me on anything. He could have told me I needed work done but did not.I asked him about the transmission coolers as I do some towing, he installed one for me at a very fair price. While it was on the rack he pointed out that I needed tires, while they do not sell tires he didnt have to say anything at all. overall I was very pleased with the work and honesty. They have gained a new customer.

I brought my 04 Mazda 6 to Affordable Transmission after calling 3 other shops in the area. I got the best cost estimate for a new clutch from the owner Todd Goodman. They diagnosed the problem quickly and all my options were explained to me in detail. Todd had the repair completed in one day at a great price and my car is shifting like new again! CROOKS plain and simple. Was duped into having car towed in. Was told by the owner over the phone, Why pay to have a diagnostic when I can tell you at no charge? Then, well go from there. Told him the problem I was having with car(not going in reverse). Quoted me $1700-2200 over the phone. After more than a week of having the car, the owner calls and says the repair would be $3500. Of course Im confused at this point. Asked him about initial quote and he caught a sudden case of amnesia. Told him I was coming to pick my car up. Was then told that I couldnt get my car back without paying $850 fee. Really?!?! And thats my car with my transmission in pieces. Asked why the $850 charge and was told because they had to take it apart to find out what was wrong with it. What happened to the free diagnostic?!? So back to square 1 minus $850 for a car with a missing transmission. When I came to Affordable transmission to talk face to face with the owner, he had his workers posted up in the front like bodyguards. Im sure this happens all the time. As you can see, his parking lot is full of vehicles without tags. Im sure theyre cars that used to belong to ppl like myself. It seems hes in the business to racking up free cars, rather than fixing transmissions. Please please please beware. Do not take your car here. A crook is the best way I can describe the owner of this establishment.

Did shorty work from the start. Refused to honor the warranty from day 1. Took car to another shop after they changed owners so I could enjoy my car again. The other shop, although a bit further was worth the drive. They were cheaper, faster and more professional and my car is running better than it ever has. Don even gave me all the old junk he pulled out and explained everything they didnt do to get the job done right. Would not recommend them to work on any transmissions or work at any other shop. Use Don at Roundtree in Hurdle Mills. He stands behind all of his work and makes it right and explains everything you dont understand. He does not advertise, he doesnt need to. Affordable should do the world a favor and close its doors.

Amazing, phenomenal, wonderful. Im a delivery driver & my car’s transmission was basically shot. After about a week & a half my car is running GOOD AS NEW!!!!!! So so so happy with the work done here. Every time i take my car to the dealership, theres a million more problems afterwards & i couldnt get an appointment until february. I completely understand that a lot of mechanics are hit or miss. Its a highly technical job without a whole lot of transparency into what theyre doing to your car. Its easy to think a mechanic is a bad service because of the cost and how they might interact with customers.I had nothing but positive interactions with this shop. Incredibly receptive, polite and accommodating. They even worked with our warranty to replace our garbage CVT in our nissan.Highly recommend. Great PEOPLE people.

These guys are really helpful and give honest opinion even if it does not benefit them! I had some power steering issue and AC condensation issue I was unaware of and Kent explained me everything I need to do and spent good time with me at the shop. We called Affordable Transmission about fixing our 2000 Dodge Caravan, they were super helpful and extremely knowledgeable about the transmission in our vehicle. Todd is the worst! He dropped my GMC off the lift and totaled my paid off car. He tried to be fraudulent and not use his insurance company. He said my car had no value but his insurance company paid me $9500. Do not use this conman because he doesn’t have your best interest in mind.

I took my 2015 Chevy equinox here when it started giving me problems. He did a free diagnostic exam on it which at most places would charge you 150 just to tell you theres a problem he took time to fix it and at an affordable price! I recommend him to all my family and friends.

Transmission turned out okay. A little bit of hard shifting at times. Quoted $1800 to $2200, but needed 2 parts. Total: ~$2600. 2004 Honda Accord V6. Steering wheel was misaligned about 10 degrees, took it back a week later and they fixed it, but it was still noticeably off by about 5 degrees but in the opposite direction this time. My point: when they initially test drove the car, it was OBVIOUS the steering wheel was misaligned. Why would a professional check off that the vehicle was good to go. Attention to detail goes a long way. Customer service was great though.

So I took my show car to them and explained my concerns. Eddie Selmi (partner in T&E Trans Inc with Todd Goodman(former owner and now again current owner) that manages Affordable or A-ffordable Transmission) assured me great care would be taken and my car would be like new when I got it back.. So I decided to leave my car with them. 700R4 is a very common transmission, what could they screw up? It started out great with them communicating etc. Then they began to avoid my calls to check in since I had not heard from them. 2 weeks later than anticipated I was finally able to pick up my car. Upon driving it on the highway noticed there was no overdrive. Since the shop was closed I had to bring it back another day. After finally figuring out a time that worked they took my car back in. They did fix the issue, but now I got it back with a shift issue from 2nd to 3rd. I was told it was nothing and to wait for break in period. So I did, issue still present when I brought it in. It took a while to get to the break in period and I explained that to Eddie as I dont drive the car much, drove it less because of the issue. When I went to pick it up I was told it needed cables that were supposed to be replaced with the original rebuild and were on the list I left them. To my dismay this was not done and now their excuse to my issue. I was told to purchase the cables on my own and bring them into them (2 needed) and they would put them in on a Saturday. After waiting several weeks for them to have time/space, I took my vehicle down to them and they explained they had no time that day and I should come back the following week. I called to verify on Thursday and got met with the shop will be closed because no one is available to work. FF a few months of this and being reassured it will get done not to worry, I lose 3rd gear altogether. Now owners have changed again (back to Todd Goodman who is still a partner in the management co T&E Trans Inc) and he refuses to do the work without another $1500 to rebuild it again. After paying $2800 this was not a solution and definately not one I was willing to agree to. Todd explained you paid Eddie for this work not me, Im not doing anything for free Since all the same misfits are out in the shop, why would I trust this rebuild to go right after what happen the 1st time? And to pay again? I should have known better the day I left my car to trust my gut over someones word. After only getting 1600 miles out of the transmission due to being afraid to take my car on a long trip as I have done several times in the past, it now sits in the garage waiting for me to have the money to have it rebuilt by another shop for much less than my initial $2800. I will never use this shop again and will run from any other shop if I see anyone from this shop working there.Response: Todd, you were partner in a business that managed this one, in either case you were involved. Changed owners and if I was within Warranty you would have done the work? What is the difference between that and where we are now? Other than YOUR partner jerked me around for 2 years? Lesson for the rest of you, get it in writing from the word go, clearly peoples word means nothing these days. An issue from the beginning and still wont cover it. And the people in the place know the issue from day 1 and wont say a word.... Your all swell people.

Awesome staff and excellent work! I originally stopped in because I was losing rpms intermittently while driving. Eddie found that the transmission was low on fluid, filled it to the proper level, and advised I keep an eye on it and check back with him if I had any more problems. About 2 1/2 weeks later I was noticing black soot on the back window and the fluid level was low again. Eddie determined the transfer case was leaking due to a bad seal. Although I did not have an appointment previously scheduled for either visit, Eddie was very helpful and took time to evaluate my problem and explain what was needed to fix the issue. He went beyond my expectations in completing the repair work including another longstanding issue I was having with my vehicle. The staff at Affordable Transmission treat you like family and Im glad to have had such positive experiences each time theyve worked on my vehicle. I highly recommend them if you want affordable, friendly service from a team who know how to take care of their customers!

Very affordable and very polite staff

Long story short, very sloppy work that has caused me a lot of time and headaches. I took my car here a couple month ago for a new clutch and fork. First issue was that it took almost two weeks for what they classified as a ‘minor’ job (each time I called they said it would be done the next day). When I got the car back I immediately noticed loud knocking sounds from the front of the car. Mike put it on the lift and said my struts were bad. I replaced them and the knocking was still there. Turns out they left several critical bolts completely loose, causing the whole suspension to wobble on the highway or in turns. Here’s a list of every issue I’ve found so far:-Upper driver side control arm bolt loose, about to come out-Lower passenger side control arm bolt loose-Completely missing 2 bolts in the transmission mount.-Transmission fill bolt loose, entire splash shield covered in fluid-ECU cover missing-Battery bracket missingEven after tightening everything that is loose, there is more knocking from the transmission area every time I shift or let off the gas. I haven’t found the source of this yet but it may be inside the trans. The only redeeming quality of this place is that Mike was upfront with costs and knowledgeable. However, I strongly advise against trusting this place with your car for any repairs.Edit: The knocking noise is from a CV shaft that apparently got damaged during the job. The whole thing is loose, but hasnt failed yet.

We had our transmission worked on by this place and it was a nightmare. They had our car for about 3 1/2 months, we had to turn around and take it to the dealer so they could fix the original problem plus what these so called mechanics did to it. STAY AWAY!!

My car would only go backwards not forwards. So i took it here and they tried to charge me $4000 saying i needed a new transmission. Took it somewhere else and they said its only my shifter that needs replaced. Affordable automotive tried to cheat me out of thousands of dollars. GLAD I WENT SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I told the gentlemen up front that Id write a review, my apologies as its now 2 years later. At first I didnt know what to think because these guys were going to rebuild my 2003 volvo s60 transmission for a good bit cheaper than other businesses that I wont mention. Wish I could remember the guys name up front (Todd?), I thought this was just another shady salesman but I guess that was a bad stereotype on my part. He told me what I wanted to hear, they were going to replace the valve body and all the guts down to the micron. Bottom line is this place is legit and/or they did a hell of a job on my transmission because Ive put 70,000 miles on it since the rebuild and the shifts are still super smooth. Thanks guys Update 3/19: 130,000 miles since the replacement and still running great.

My 06 Mazda 6 was making an awful creaking noise while steering. I swung in here to find out what the problem was and get an estimate. Mike was able to get me right in and determined it was a bad lower control arm on the passenger side. He gave me a good price, got the part ordered and I came back the next morning to have it installed. Decent experience overall and I havent had a problem with the repair.

To be clear and fair I NEVER got work done here. However, I did buy a used Acura that had its transmission rebuilt here about 20k miles earlier and it went out. The warranty that they offered was not transferable so even though it was their rebuilt transmission I was out of luck. They did inspect my transmission and saw that the gears were burnt up. They offered a lowered price but when I compared it to other shops giving me all the updates I needed it was only $100 cheaper. They also mentioned typically charging separately for updates which other transmission shops I spoke with included all the updates. You will also find nationwide, transferable warranties up to 3 years other places.

I had a wonderful experience. Very nice and proffesional people, here. Great service and the manager was so nice. Will def pass the word.

To be upfront with all readers, in the end I had my father drive from Wilmington to get my car so he could rebuild my transmission himself, but I had to write a review about how great Mike was in helping me make a decisions. After taking my car to the dealer, I was shocked by their price. Mike quoted me the best price in Raleigh after calling around, and he was the ONLY guy who knew that my car could come with two possible transmission makes. No one else knew that my car came with either a Chrysler transmission OR a Mercedes transmission. He explained to me what should and should not be included in the price, and made it all less scary than it had to be. If you do not have a dad who can rebuild yours for you in a pinch, I have to recommend calling these guys first and letting them help. They even offered a free diagnostic, where the dealer charged me $90 for the same thing. Let these guys help you first before making such a huge financial decision.

I went in bcuz Im having transmission problems. That guy mike was apparently on his monthly cycle bcuz he was negative and acted like he didnt want to help. I got Prejudice vibes. Someone lying about their five stars. I give zero stars for his lack in customer service.

The receptionist at Affordable Transmission has a terrible attitude. The manager is dishonest and Mike is an arrogant jackass. They will try to hold your car hostage. DO NOT do business with these crooks, spend your money elsewhere!

Very nice people to work with

I came in really shot. I had been to a couple of garages and no one was able to agree with me that my car was not functioning properly, my catalytic converter was shot, my motor mounts were shot, my transmission mount was shot, and everyone was telling me there was no issue. I brought my car in to Eddie and he test drove my vehicle and all these issues were resolved.

Dont waste your money! Regardless of what your car issue Is they will tell you u need a rebuilt transmission

This place was so rude I will never ever tell anyone to go there they have bad customer service not helpful they did not tighten down a boat for my transmission fluid so they left it loose so I can come back and have my transmission replaced and pay more money this business is fraud they’re just trying to get your money please have someone check over your work

Had a transmission replaced by them 3 years ago. Have to have it replaced again. A transmission shouldn’t last only 3 years.

Went to them it took my car in for transmission work it was the worst experience I had with any shop kept my car for 3 wks finally got it back before I could get home that day car started messing up had to take it back to them and again the next month dont waste your time doing business with this place
