My husband has gotten his hair cut here for a few years. They are affordable and straight-to-the-point haircuts. They get the job done well every time and there always seem to be people coming in and out. Very friendly staff. There isn’t too much talking so if you don’t like having convos with the person cutting your hair, you’ll love this place.

I came her today for a Father’s Day haircut. I have come here several times to get a mid-high fade. Today I got a hair cut from EJ herself and told her I would like a high fade. She repeats skin?, and I replied yes because I always go to a zero on the sides. She proceeds to cut me a f’ing Mohawk. Didn’t pay and I’m never going back there.

The haircut was okay, wasn’t really what I wanted, despite pictures and description. It all felt rushed.Then I was charged double the rest of the men there for a “women’s” haircut, despite getting the exact same sort of cut as the men around me.Extremely close straight razor shave, which is fine, but I started getting red bumps as soon as I got home, and this has never happened to me at any barber I’ve gone to. It makes me questions the sanitation and care of the razors and shave itself.Won’t be going back.

By far one of the best places to get a hair cut. For 22 bucks you get a hair cut and your eyebrows waxed. They use a straight razor And give you a nice little massage after your cut. I highly recommend them.

Went in as i wanted to try out a new barber that was closer to me, asked for a skin fade instead E J bald faded my whole head and pushed my hairline back with a razor and unprofessionally did a giggle after i got out the chair. Never coming here again.

I have no complaints about the customer service this business shows, nevertheless they do not show the stewardship of their profession. The first time I went, I asked for a medium skin fade. After she was finished, I can promise that it was anything other than a medium fade. She rushed and did a horrible job. A few months and when I mean a few months I mean almost a year, I go back today. Yet again I ask for a medium fade and little behold I still have my hair slaughtered like a fool I am. Even I can fade hair better than these ladies and I only have had experience being in the military. I recommend anyone who goes here to turn right back around and leave this shop. Worst haircuts I have had my entire life. Never again will I go back to this shop.

Excellent barbers. They are quick, quality, and at $12 for a mens haircut. A little shoulder massage at the end too is nice! Highly recommend! Military is $11 and they do medium and high skin fades very well.

Went here for the first time today. No wait whatsoever! Got a #1 buzz cut and they did a great job . The back massage and straight razor shave reminded me of the old school barbershop I went to as a kid! The one I liked was the shop was very clean on the inside!

You typically got to know what you want. If you dont know how to order a haircut then you might want to go somewhere else. Mostly I see men and boys getting shorter haircuts. However, I do see them do Styles once in awhile. They are clean, quick (usually ), and pretty friendly. My boys and I have been going here for years. And as far as we are concerned it beats out the barber shops in that immediate area easily. And the neck massage is an awesome touch.

A shop of very nice older Korean women... Very surprised they dont charge more because the service given is very much worth it. Went in for a razor shave on the noggin and not a single bump, smooth all the way around. The back/shoulder massage with the machine was icing on the cake

I took my 9 year old son to get his hair cut. Before we sat down the workers started making fun of how long his hair was and teased that he wanted a pony tail. (Who teases and shames a child for their hair choices?!) I explained that he actually does because he wants to grow it out. My son explained that he wanted it off his eyes and to clean up the rest. I also explained that he wanted to just get a trim but still wanted to keep it long. When they were finished they had taken three inches off and my son was in tears. They just looked at him and said itll be ok, itll grow back in a month. I will never go here again and will never recommend them to anyone.

The person who cut my hair was very disrespectful, due to the fact I put my jacket on the chair, before noticing there was a coat rack. Mind you no one else was in there so I didn’t find it a big deal. She rolled her eyes, and I told her I can go hang it up. She told me no to just sit down. I did and she proceeded to cut my hair. While doing so she was way to rough and ended up cutting me. While applying after shave, she slapped it on me to the point where it actually hurt. Very disappointed. I do not recommend this barber. That was my second time there. My first time i noticed they left hairs significantly longer than the rest. Not a good barber shop.

Not sure what Johnny chingas problem is but Ive been going here for a couple years now and never once had a problem.decent haircut with a hot shave and a back rub.for $12-13. If you can find a problem in that maybe youre the problem...local guide

Typically a quick haircut, not a long wait (use to be no wait but word has got out about their service). They straight shave your edges, warm rag after with a couple minute back massage all for $12. I typically til well and still get out of there for less then the chain haircutters that have gouged their prices

Been coming here for the past few years. They always do a tremendous job cutting mens hair. One of the few places that still uses a straight razor for shaving! I recommend this place to any male young to old.

So sad they closed the meridian location. Happy they still have a shop open. Love getting a cit here.

Took my dad here for a shave, unfortunately it didnt go well. It was supposed to be just a trim of his goatee but the lady in the middle chair shaved off most of his mustache and his goatee was so patched that he went home and just shaved it all off again. She was also super rough. Hopefully others have better experiences then we had.

I accidentally asked for a haircut #2 for my son (we’ve used this in the past to describe a fade beginning 2 fingers high from the top of the ear) and AFTER she was done, and I got my nose up from my phone :/, I realized it and told her we needed a ‘skin tight’ haircut. EJ came unglued and continued to shame me in front of the other customers even though I said it was ALL MY FAULT and that I would pay her double. She was very unprofessional...throwing around the towel and comb because of her anger. Glad we made it through and that I was able to keep my cool, because I had a lot of blood pumping and am still shaky because of it. IF we ever go back, because it is conveniently-located and I think they do a pretty good job, we will probably wait for a different stylist or be sure to let EJ know that we want a #0 haircut!

My wife always likes the cuts I get here. I get a full head and face shave minus my gotee. About $30.00. Very close shaves. Worth the money.

They were extremely rough. Combing through my beard during the trim to the point it was jolting my head. After I complained it hurt she continued to do the same. Also they took off much more then I wanted. Only thing good thing was the price. But even at 7$ it wasnt worth the experience I had. Your face shouldnt be in pain after you have your beard trimmed. I will not go back.

EXPECT A BAD HAIRCUT! I have been going to EJs for haircuts for the past 4+ years and have averaged a little more than every other haircut has been messed up! Why still go for years to a place with bad cuts - I enjoyed the free shaving cream straight blade nape lines cleanup and then two minute shoulder massages, which gave the business an edge and a lot of potential. I even spent time talking with EJ the owner to help get them out of the bad cut image I had come to expect from them. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and held a belief they would eventually improve. However, the years of bad cuts coupled with poor owner haircut ability and her extremely unprofessional bad attitude today have eroded all potential I thought the business had.Warning: They always mess up easy stuff like not faded well or chunky on the sides, or higher and tighter cut than whats asked for, and always have 2 inches on top and in front (bangs) when I ALWAYS ask for finger length (aka 1/2 inch). I would always have to return to get it fixed. Which they would normally do for free.My advise to readers:(1) EXPECT A BAD HAIRCUT. My bad haircut percentage for 4+ years is more than 50% of the time they were bad.(2) The owner EJ gives bad haircuts too! She has a bad attitude and poor customer service. I even gave her business advise two years ago.(2) Dont be lulled in by the straight razor nape line cleanup and two minute shoulder massage. You too will eventually get feed up with the bad haircuts that cant be outweighed by these little extras.(3) Their $12 for a haircut is a good price until you add the next $20 for some else to fix it. (In other words.. Its actually a $32 haircut)

They cut my 8 year olds hair so nicely. He gets a disconnect undercut with a hard part. $10!I showed them a picture when we first started going, so it was clear how I wanted it cut.Ask for EJ!

I recommend this place for simple cuts but not for more complex or style requests because they don’t under stand how much to cut off or leave on I only go there for fades

Ive been going to EJ Barber for six years and may have walked out unsatisfied only once or twice but was my own mistake for not knowing exactly what I wanted done. The service is impeccable. Ive never had a closer shave or line up. Be prepared to encounter a little broken English. Personally, my favorite parts are the head massage with every shampoo and the back massage after every haircut... I might even say thats why Ive been going there for so long... Haha thanks EJ Barber! I don’t usually give this type of review but i had to give this one a thumbs down! They are pushy, rushing to kick you out and just plain rude. Took my son to get his hair done and the lady was rude telling him why he kept changing his mind on how he wanted his hair done but she was the one that couldn’t understand! She kept on rushing and was just plain rude never going there again. Guess they dont care about customer service since people keep on going there

Good cuts at a great price

Ive been to this barbershop twice, the first time I got a decent haircut. Yesterday the second time I got one of the worst haircuts Ive ever had. I ask for the same thing every time, a number 1 on the sides faded to a 0 and finger length on top and thinned out. She immediately buzzed the top of my head short instead of scissors, missed an area of the front where I have a cowlick. The fade on the side is mismatched and each side of my head doesnt match where the 0 ends and the 1 begins. The hair on the back top of my head is longer than the front because she sloppily went over it with the clippers. When it came time to straight razor the edgea her razor was dull and painful for me. Lastly during the straight razor pain she shaved my sideburns which is fine, except I have a beard so I now had to shave my beard to not look so dumb for the next few weeks. Would not recommend, she hastily cut my hair and its not the quality I expect in a barbershop.

Take nothing off the top. Please do not fade anything. Use a 1 on the sides and take it all the way to where the long hair starts. No fade please, nothing off the top. So, she did the one on the sides, then ran the clippers stright up the back of my head, into the long hair on top that I asked her not to cut. You may think thats not a big deal but for someone who has a traditional slick back hair style......this mean your hair is going to be sticking straight off the back of your head by an inch instead of contouring with it like IT WAS ALREADY! Now, now I am going to have to shave my head and wait for the next 8-12 months to get my hair back the way it was. If you are getting a super, SUPER basic cut (high and tight, high fade, a cut the generally just uses clippers only) then go for it. Or, pay 3$ more and go to Buzzerds in DT Tacoma off 11th ave and get a professional hair cut done right. Ive been going there since they opened and have NEVER had an issue. I rushed into here as I just wanted a slight clean up for a work related event and couldnt get to Buzzerds before closing. Man, am I sorely regreting my decision. I cannot, for any reason, ever see myself going back to this establishment.
