Ok…follow up to yesterday’s post about confirming a work order in place. The guys showed up promptly at 8:00 this morning and installed the new 4 ton condenser unit, feed line of cooling agent and convertible coils attached to my oil burner with condenser filter, etc etc. GREAT JOB with attention to detail. Answered any questions I had during the 7 hours they were here. Cleaned up perfectly before leaving! Great job guys and thank you.

We scheduled a yearly maintenance service for the oil tank and furnace as we had no idea when the last service was done. Tony was our technician for the visit and he was incredibly efficient, professional, and knowledgeable. He was on time and only needed us to point out the units and the exterior basement access. I love Valley Oil, They work with me for 15 years. We all have our moment when our money play funny. They will work with you. It always nice to speak with someone who understand. If you dont have Valley Oil, you should make them a part of your fairmly. I am glad that I did.
I called for a service call and got an appointment for the same day. I had expected it would later in the week. The customer service representative answered the phone promptly. He was courteous, knowledgeable, patient, answered my questions, and set up the appointment quickly.The technician arrived early in the designated time slot. He quickly identified the source of the rattle, explained it to me, and fixed it. He was polite and professional. I no longer hear a rattle upstairs when the furnace runs.
I HAVE FOUND THAT WHAT I UNDERSTOOD TO BE MONTHLY CONTRACT PAYMENTS FOR OIL AND SERVICES WAS TOTALLY CHANGED TOWARD THE END OF THE SEASON. I THOUGHT I WAS CLEARLY TOLD BY THE CONTRACT NEGOTIATORS THAT MONTHLY PAYMENTS COVERED STANDARD MAINTENANCE, BUT MY CREDIT CARD WAS LATER CHARGED LARGE AMOUNTS FOR THESE SERVICES. ALSO, THE COST OF HVAC MAINTENANCE WAS RIDICULOUSLY HIGHER THAN WHAT I COULD HAVE PAID FROM MANY LOCAL PROVIDERS, HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS LESS IN FACT, WHEN THEY FAILED TO GIVE ME SIMILAR PRICES TO PREVIOUS YEARS. I DOUBT I WILL CONTINUE WITH VALLEY OIL THIS SEASON. OH, THEIR OIL DELIVERY WAS ALWAYS OK.
I have been a customer of Valley oil/Hop Energy for several years and each year has become increasingly more challenging and disappointing. Typically its been the convoluted billing and the astronomically inflated quotes for additional services like a new water heater or air conditioning system. (both of which I quickly found other companies to install for minimum of 50% less) However, this year the number of repeated phone calls and strong-arm tactics for contract renewal went from annoying to offensive. The deal breaker was the 50% and 100% increase in cost for my two service contracts. In my research to find another supplier, Ive discovered many current and former customers have had similar experiences with Valley Oil. Im not sure why they have chosen this particular business model as the cost to recruit new customers is considerably higher than to retain current ones. Nevertheless, Ive since moved on with a new company, better rates and far better customer reviews.

CSR>Kathy, was very helpful, cleared up some accounting issues that created a bit of confusion. Budget Plan, Budget Billing Plan, Service Contract, Set-up Service Cleaning, acknowledged there was confusion in the way billing was presented and agreed the payment area could benefit by showing a balance due category without having to open a statement in the View portal. The two previous CSRs provided incorrect information, Kathy could help them get it straight the first time...thats why they call it, Great Customer Service! nice job Kathy!

My wife and I have lived in our present location for twenty seven years. In that time span we have tried to support local businesses including oil companys. Well established companys appeared to be selling out while we were attempting to remain local. We decided to try Dollarwise Oil which worked out for our life style. When contacted by Valley Oil we decided to try Valley Oil with a one year contract. They have gone out of their way to work around our delivery requests. So far we have had no issues,fair prices, and a bonus, We have discovered the customer service Rep. I talked to today is a neighbor. In times of dealing with big business it is nice to have that small town feeling. It is disheartening to read negative reviews, hopefully mine will always be positive.

Was decent until our contract expired - yet they continued to auto deliver, not in the locked in price, but what Valley calls a variable price, which means theyll just charge what they want. They charged $3.79 per gallon when the going rate in the area that day was $2.32. They could only remedy this if I re-signed for another contract. Trying to strongarm customers for retention is a horrible business model if you ask me. Would not recommend this company to anyone, stay far - far away.

Classic example of a company large enough not to care.I called on a price leader add of 1.74 a gallon if you sign up for auto delivery and of course when the oil is delivered I was charged 1.96. I called to ask what happened and they left a message that it was the delivery mans fault. So the delivery man sets the price?......right. Beware of this company!

My husband and I have had an awful experience with this company. A complete scam and awful customer service. Do your research and look at BBB before choosing to do business here.Just so everyone is well aware, and for anyone that does business with this company - you may want to reconsider. Stay far away from Hop Energy (Valley Oil) for home heating needs. Here’s what we’re currently going through over here -Locked in to a 12 month contract at a decent fixed per gallon price, on automatic delivery. Contract was over, and I was prepared to shop around this month for the best deal I could find like most people do. Until yesterday.Hop Energy (Valley Oil) automatically delivered 182.6 gallons to my house without my consent, and WELL above the locked in rate I was at (almost two times the cost per gallon). I got an invoice on my door, and was very surprised at the total cost.They charged me $3.799 per gallon, when the going rate that I could have purchased on the same day was $2.329 per gallon. Scamming me $1.47 per gallon for basically no reason other than they can.Immediately I contacted them, obviously a bit unhappy and confused here. They were rather rude on the phone and perplexed as to why I was upset I was getting charged so much money. They explained to me that even though my contract was up for my auto delivery at a fixed rate - that they still continue to auto deliver at their “variable rate”, which apparently is off the charts. They tried to tell me it’s due to the additional costs for “automatically delivering the product”, and other reasons that made no sense whatsoever.I explained to them I could get the same oil delivered today for $2.329 per gallon, so if they reduce my invoice to this price I have no issues paying it. They said they can’t do that, and in Pawn Stars fashion hit me with the “best I can do is take 50 cents off per gallon”, still leaving me at $3.299, well above what I could get it the same day for still.The difference in cost here works out to be approximately 115 gallons of additional oil I could have gotten for the same cost at the proper charge. So they’re essentially trying to scam me for almost another 1/2 tank of oil.Then the real motive came out. “Mr. Kiss if you’d like to sign on to another contract we will gladly help you out here”, attempting to force my hand to work with a company that feels like scamming families for home heating oil during a global pandemic. Mind officially blown at this point.Moral of the story here is steer clear of this company. I cannot speak on their service department, but their customer service and general business practices are horrific, especially given the current situational climate.

Service decide to postpone the call in order that Pete accompany to evaluate the need for the recall. I was hesitant in signing into the plan based on my past experience with your company when I locked into a plan and during the heating season the price of oil dropped but I was not eligible for the lower price due to the locked in price.Marie took the time to reassure me how this plan is different and, explained (with much patience) all of my questions and concerns.She is extremely polite and knowledgeable and am asset to your company.I asked Marie if consideration could be given to the price quoted based on the fact that we have been a customer of Valley Oil for over 32 years (when we moved to Kensington). She discussed it with upper management and an adjustment was made. She went that extra yard.Based on her knowledge and explainations and answers to my questions, I signed up for the plan.Your company is fortunate to have Marie as an employee and, I was fortunate to have HER answer my phone call to your company yesterday.

A few years ago in March, of course it was Friday afternoon, i discovered my 25 + year old boiler cracked and the entire furnace needed to be replaced. Valley got here right away and gave us multiple options. I had a few other companies come out that day and none of them could beat the price, or more importantly the timeline as we were leaving for our Florida vacation.Valley ordered everything Friday night and Saturday morning, everything was delivered Monday and by Tuesday both the furnace and hot water heater were up and running. They left the place cleaner than it was when they got here. When they came upstairs to check with the thermostats he pointed out that with my service contract I get 1 new thermostat per year? I had no idea, so now I have new thermostats too! The inspector came he said they did a great job.As far as oil Ive been with Valley for over 30 years. I cant recall ever having an issue with quality, timing, billing etc. This morning I called the office to see when my next oil delivery would be, she said February mid month. I explained that it was below half a tank because Ive been home sick, and kept the heat cranked up, she said how does next week sound?The price of oil, I always call before the season starts to see which program I should be in.
