Anyone looking for a great place to live with amazing office staff and superb maintenance - Stoneleigh at the Reserve in Plymouth, MN is the place. Kurt (Curt), Patrick and Will are the best. Whenever they come into my apartment they are so friendly and always take the time to check in with me and my cats. They also take the time to show and explain. Ive mostly dealt with Linsey in the office and she always remembers me when I stop in and always has a minute or two to visit. I really love living here - my apartment is perfect for me and I really like the staff here. I dont typically do any sort of social media, but Kurt (Curt), Patrick and Will deserve praise - they are out here keeping us happy in not always the best conditions - its Minnesota so its freezing weather to sweltering heat and humidity and again, they always have a smile on their face.
My boyfriend and I lived in 5200 for the past 2 years! I have nothing but great things to say about the building and management. The building is beautiful, up-to-date and quiet. The amenities included are great (pool room, outdoor pool, a recently updated gym, and a basketball court, etc.). I’ve used all of these more than once while staying here and everything has always been kept clean with ways to sanitize. Packages are now stored neatly on a rack (instead of on the floor in the hallway) and I have never had an issue with my packages getting stolen (I receive 2-3 packages a week). Maintenance responds in a timely manner. I was also lucky enough to have wonderful and quiet neighbors. Management is friendly and helpful. I loved the neighborhood. It was quiet and I felt safe walking outside alone. The only reason my boyfriend and I left this place was because we decided to move closer to town where family and friends reside. I would highly recommend this place to people.
I just signed my second lease. So far living here has been amazing. I moved here about a year ago and Linsey made the procedure of moving in very simple. She did a fantastic job of keeping me updated with whatever issues I had with my unit and helping me with maintenance issues. I only ever needed one thing fixed and that was the dishwasher. It always leaked water whenever its in use and the maintenance team installed a new dishwasher after a few attempts to see why the old dishwasher was leaking. It got resolved pretty quick compared to other apartment reviews. The walls I assume are very thick because I could hear my neighbors only in the halls but not in my unit. Its really quiet or maybe I just have good neighbors? Im very happy that I chose this place because this was my first time moving. I would sometimes receive packages here and and so far never had any of my packages stolen. I feel very safe and I love the community here.Overall the staff here is very competent and caring. If any issues would arise they will make sure to get it fixed asap.
Great location in Plymouth lots of walking paths. Secluded in a neighborhood with large rooms and walk in closets. Pool is beautiful with great landscaping.
Stoneleigh was by far the best place I’ve lived at! I recently bought a home and forgot to change my address and had packages delivered to my old address at Stoneleigh and didn’t realize for TWO DAYS after it was delivered! I called Stoneleigh and they promptly retrieved my package for me and held it until I was able to stop by to grab it! 5 star service Stoneleigh! Thanks for a wonderful experience both living there and beyond!!!
Let’s see, I moved into a GREAT community in 2014. The staff was responsive, maintenance was superb, and the grounds were well kept. HOWEVER, it all went downhill fast. They decided to shut down the secured package. If it was for people not picking them up, start to charge them, but instead they decide to punish everyone. Once this happened, the hallway became cluttered with packages which creates a trip hazard and an unclean presentation. As the pandemic hit, people became their worst. They didn’t return carts (which should of just meant that the building got rid of them to stop the latter from happening), crude messages were left in hallways and elevators (don’t worry, management sent out a memo email... really fixed that issue), and packages started being stolen heavily from December 2020 to present. And what has management done? Oh, let’s send out another email... building 5300 has gone from a home to a hole. Figure out what thieving person(s) you allowed into our homes and get them out or continue to lose the good people that you once had in this community.
The staff is always very friendly. Kaylee is helpful, communicative, and always such a pleasure to be around. The customer service I receive here far exceeds my expectations!
Overall, nice place to live that I would recommend to others. I lived here for 1 year. I gave 4 stars because of noise issues.Pros: great location with many places and freeways nearby, lots of trails and parks nearby, apartments feel spacious with tall ceilings, secure building at night, parking lot was always very empty with lots of spots, friendly staff, great maintenance team, all units have full size washer/dryer, community events, clean and well maintained building, and diverse community.Cons: this may vary depending on location but from my experience, can hear noise easily. I lived in the 5200 building 1st floor and heard the people above and next to me clearly 24/7. I also heard people in the underground garage, talking, car horns when locking, cars driving, etc. clearly from anywhere in my apartment. I lived next to the indoor basketball court and the hours were not followed. This was the biggest concern for us when we moved in and staff said they would make sure the hours were enforced. I was woken up early in the morning on weekends multiple times since my bedroom wall shared the same wall as the court and I could hear and feel everything as if I was in there. I notified staff by email and in person of multiple incidents but it was never resolved which was disappointing. The court door was supposed to be locked each night when the office closed and it was unlocked almost every other night (we checked each night) and there would be people in there very early am or very late pm being loud and sometimes not even playing basketball. The front desk stopped taking packages so they were put out in the open on the ground by the mail boxes which was a bit worrisome as anyone can enter the building during the day and have access to this area.
I have lived here since August 2020 and have really loved it. If anything needs attention Kurt and Will have been more than helpful taking care of my concerns. For me it is a great place to live.
Such a beautiful community with amazing staff! I cannot say enough about the staff! They are efficnet, helpful, reliable and so welcoming. The apartments are large and spacious with lots of storage and closet space! Not to mention a beautiful pool to enjoy!! 100000/10
While going through the move-in process the front staff was very quick to get things moving, and help ensure the move was as smooth and easy as possible. Responding to emails and texts promptly made it an easy transition.
I love the place everyone is so professional and nice,, the environment is so clean and conducive
I had an incredibly disappointing year living at Stoneleigh. We had issues left and right. Our apartment was right above the gym and we could hear the repeated thump of someone on the treadmill and weights being dropped on the floor. I would lie awake in the mornings in bed listening to someone running; there was no sleeping in at that apartment. They offered to change gym hours but even after that, it still started at 7:30AM and it would have been nice to sleep in later than that.We had a lot of issues with black mold in the apartment. It was a total nightmare. They first tried telling us that it wasnt mold but I knew that wasnt the case. When they finally did acknowledge that it was mold in the vents, it was a battle to have it removed. We had strongly urged for a professional outside company to do remediation but we were turned down multiple times. We did have them come in but I was in no way trusting they completely got rid of the mold. They tried convincing us their maintenance person has done it plenty of times before. Ok? That doesnt mean he is doing it correctly. This is my health at risk, not yours. There was even mold around all the window sills. Im sure theyll paint over that before the next person moves in.Dont bother with this place.
I was a resident from 2019 July to 2020. I liked everything about living here, the aesthetics, security and how the property was maintained. The rent is on the higher end compared to surrounding properties but 100% worth it. The best feature is the staff. They were extremely helpful and very responsive, even if you have a maintenance emergency over a weekend. Special shout-out to Linsey who was my leasing consultant and also helped me move some of my stuff in. Excellent staff! Very professional!
Very clean and Great Service!
Overall this apartment was an ok place to leave. Not the best place I have lived but not the worst either. They were very helpful with me when it came to working with my schedule to get moved in. Everyone at the office is very friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone who is wanting to be right off the interstate and can easily get around town and to different parts of the Twin Cities. Great location for if you want to go for walks, as a park with walking trail and play-set within walking distance. My only complaint I have about Stoneleigh is the maintenance experience and the move out process. I had a few issues with my door on my bedroom and my door on my laundry room. Was not that big of a deal but it took them a few months to even get me a door on my laundry room which made for noisy apartment and then when they finally got me a bedroom door they got the wrong size and I did not have a lock or handle on it. When it came to move out process for the most part they worked with me on getting me out of my apartment but then in my opinion they found even reason to not give me back my deposit and not mention I got out early so they had all the extra time they could have had it rented and double income but they still choose to find ever reason to take from my deposit. So overall great place but in my opinion be prepared to get very little to none of your deposit back and for maintenance to help with the issues you let them know about but if it is their issue they take there time.
I was treated as old family and not a suspect in a line like I was at several other apartments. The grounds, halls, elevators, common spaces were immaculate. All options of apartment life were covered and proudly displayed. The staff was friendly and genuine In all a five star experience and yes I am a renter there now.
Apartments are very spacious with lots of storage. They feel more like a home because of the tall ceilings and finishes. The staff was always nice, friendly and maintenance was prompt. Ample amount of parking both underground and outside. Location is wonderful- close to highway access and may restaurants and shopping centers. One of my favorite places Ive lived since moving to MN.
We have now lived here for five months and are very satisfied with our apartment. It is quiet, convenient and comfortable. The staff is so friendly and always available to help us with any need we have. They are quick to fix anything that goes wrong. A great place to live!
I love love living at Stoneleigh and have ever since I moved in here last October. The building is beautiful and inviting. My apartment is bright and homey. But, the best part is the entire office/management staff is completely awesome! They are kind, very helpful, attentive and super friendly! My dogs and I feel so welcome and at home here and I so appreciate it.....Also, the maintenance staff is efficient and always Johnny on the Spot.
We have lived here for two years and always, always, the staff have been friendly, with a smile and a kind word. Maintenance issues are completed with professionalism and quick turnaround. We love all the amenities here, the pool, the racquet ball, basketball, pool table, and party room. They host community events that are always so much fun! I give them a 5-star rating
Undoubtedly a great apartment to live. Quiet, clean, good amenities and beautiful neighborhood. We took tour of couple other places but this apartment felt like home not only because we loved flagstone floor plan but also the office staff are very very friendly and welcoming. Thank you Linsey for being awesome and supportive throughout leasing journey. Having friendly staff is very important for any apartment and Stoneleigh have the best of it. You guys are the best and keep rocking! One of the best places I lived so far. I definitely recommend to everyone who is looking for an apartment in Plymouth.
Happy to call Stoneleigh our home. We really like the community gatherings and loved the pool this summer. The management and maintenance staff are always more that willing to help any way they can. Very nice people and place to live!
I really dont have the time to list all the positive things about living here at Stoneleigh 5300 Building. The Stoneleigh team are really a great team and work together to get the job done. The willingness to go the extra mile to assist with any situation is incredible. I owe them so much. If you are looking for a quiet, clean, safe and fun place to live. MOVE HERE!!
The office staff is what makes this place great, as they are always helpful and welcome you with a smile. They really do care, and it makes a difference. They take the time to get to know you and it really makes you feel at home. The apartment complex and amenities are always very clean, quiet and have a great atmosphere. My unit was cleaned impeccably before I moved in, which was a perfect start to my stay here. The neighbors are pleasant and always ready to greet you with a smile and a hello. I can’t say enough about my stay here so far! It’s in a good central location to many retail areas and restaurants, and the neighborhood is quiet and safe. It really is a great place to live, with a good on site pool, and access to nice walking and biking paths. Parking is never a problem and the apartment sizes are perfect. Great place to be!
Great location, I love Plymouth! I had two dogs and there was many grass areas and walking paths nearby. Very convenient to major freeways and lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. Staff is so friendly and always accommodating. I would highly recommend this community.
Been living here for the past two months with my little golden. I have not found a more inviting community within my building when it comes to helping me figure out to raise a puppy. All my neighbors are cheerful and super understanding with the puppy training! Been very helpful with all my questions. By far the best pet friendly building I’ve lived in. From other apartment options the grounds and shared spaces are clean! When moving into my apartment you couldn’t tell that a cat or dog have lived in it prior! The staff here are super helpful, even on those little things like locking yourself out! Whenever I go to the front desk, the attitude is always positive and inviting! Ellie, the golden loves going to the office for pets and treats! I’m beyond happy with my choice to call Stoneleigh at the Reserve my home!!
Linsey and Brandon were extremely accommodating and great to work with. With being flexible on my move-in date, to showing me my future home, to making me feel well informed and comfortable, they went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and do so with a professional and courteous touch.
Outstanding apartment and resident community, minutes away from Plymouth and Maple Grove. Excellent staff and maintenance team who are always available to answer questions and if an issue should arise they always quickly resolve it. Stoneleigh also offers a variety of floor plans and variable lease terms to fit your individual needs. I have been a resident for two years in these apartments and am now a proud retired Air Force veteran having served 28 years. I have lived in many homes and apartments over the years but rate Stoneleigh at the Reserve at the top for the following reasons, affordability, location, resident community, maintenance team and lastly the world class management and staff.
Awesome place to live! Tucked away in a nice neighborhood, but still very close to highway access. Office and maintenance staff alike were incredibly friendly and fast to respond to your request.
I have lived here for 2 years now, and just resigned ANOTHER lease for 7 more months while searching for a home to purchase. We have never had any issues in our building, besides that our neighbors can be a little noisy, but that is what you get when you live in an apartment complex anywhere. I love my pet friendly building, because I am a huge animal lover and every dog I cross paths with are the sweetest and loving. The staff is always super nice whenever I call them or interact with them at the leasing office. The rent is pretty high, but I think thats average especially for living in the kind of neighborhood that we do. They keep the common areas clean, and the maintenance staff is always on top of fixing things in our apartment (even though it was just one thing and it was an easy fix). But they are very friendly as well. Majority of everyone that lives in my building too are super cool and always say hey when crossing paths.I will be bummed out when it comes time to move out (whenever that may be), but this is definitely a great community to move into with high quality customer service and living in a high quality neighborhood. Go Team Stoneleigh :)
A great place to call home. The entire staff team is friendly and always greets you with a smile and a treat for your four-legged friend. The team is helpful to our needs, and are quick to attend to any problems that arise. The location is wonderful! Set back in a residential neighborhood you get to escape the hustle and bustle that comes with most apartment complexes. There are plenty of things that are conveniently located within miles of the apartments. The community is quiet and I have never had an issue with my neighbors while here. If you are looking for a close knit, friendly community to live in this is the place for you!
This has been a great place to live! The apartments are clean and the office staff is friendly. All of my neighbors are super nice, and the area is nice and quite, while still being close to the cities!
Ive been at this apartment complex for about 6 months now (halfway through my lease) and Im very satisfied with the accommodations here.PROS: Full size washer and dryer in unit, pantry, and kitchen equipped with the essentials (fridge, microwave, and dishwasher). AC is cold, and any time Ive had an issue with the apartment, maintenance was there ASAP (longest Ive waited was about a day for non-emergency service). Its been a very attractive place to live so far, but its not without its downsides.CONS: Walls are kinda thin, and in the winter their plow service is slow to clear spaces in the outdoor parking lot. Some inconsiderate neighbors will let their dog bark for hours or not pick up their pets droppings outside, but thats on the residents, not the complex itself. Lastly, I cant take a nice long shower without the water running cold - each unit has their own water heater, but its half the size of a typical one. This means you cant run the dishwasher/washing machine AND have a hot shower, unless you can take a 2 minute shower. This also means the bathtub cant fill all the way with hot water. This place would be 5 stars if those few downsides were fixed. Theyre not too big of an issue for me, so I only docked one star. Id recommend this place to a friend.
Ryan has been an amazing help since the first day we called, we called in last minute on a weekend and he was glad to take us on a tour. Came in and was a pleasure to talk with, until this day he is super friendly and an amazing help. He’s one of the biggest reasons we picked this place, he made the application process simple and fast. He is always available to answer any questions we have. This place is amazing gym is nice specially when we are right across from it . The racquet ball court is a sweet deal and the indoor half basketball court is awesome !The only complaint I do have is that the upstairs residents are not what so ever light on their feet ! It’s ridiculous constantly running back and forth. I understand that’s something to put up when you live on the first floor but I’ve lived on a 2nd floor before and I was thoughtful of the residents below me .I would recommend getting the third floor if possible .
Talk about great staff! Everyone is so friendly and kind. I moved from Sartell, MN to this complex and they made my move smooth. They also took the time to answer all of my questions throughly and if I had to leave a voicemail message, they got back to me prompt. I also love this facility and what they have to offer for living space, indoor gym use, half basketball court and an outdoor pool. I would recommend friends to call this place home!
This is a Fantastic place to live!!! The management works hard to keep the property looking good, very well maintained. Also, whenever I have a issue with something that needs to be fixed they take care of it immediately.
Ive visited the apartments quite a few times and have been very impressed by everything. From the friendly greetings to the great service, I would highly recommend Stoneleigh. Not to mention the buildings are beautiful.
Living at Stoneleigh has been great! The apartments are very homie and quaint. The community is friendly and inviting. I like the location of Stoneleigh because you are tucked back in a neighborhood away from the busyness of the city but if you wanted to go to Maple Grove or Minnetonka it will only take you 15 minutes tops. Also, Minneapolis is about 25 minutes away. If you are looking for a place in Plymouth, I would highly recommend living here!
Very convenient location. No issues with the community or apartment. Very nice to have full sized washer and dryer in the unit.
We have been living here for about a year. We got a few months to go on our lease. So far, it has been a good place to live. The in unit washer and dryer is especially convenient. The area is really nice for walking around, especially in the summer. Weve only had to call the maintenance once, and they came out right away. The only complaint I have is we cannot store anything in a garage space which I think is because of some kind of city law which is fine, but we had inquired for storage availability, and said they would let us know the next day, but we never heard back. Its alright though, it happens. I will review again once we leave. Seems like most of the bad reviews are about fees after leaving.
Staff is great and pays attention to your needs. Maintenance team is super quick, fixed my requests the next day!
Lived at Stoneleigh for over two years. Staff is great and I love the location. If I didnt get transferred for work Id still would be living there.
I called Stoneleigh my home for 3 years, i enjoyed the resident events and pool parties with my 2 kids! I would highly recommend this apartment home to anyone!
This complex is alright! I went to look at the reviews and noticed a huge influx in positive reviews over the past week or so which seemed odd to me so I wanted to put out my honest opinion. Staff is pretty friendly, maintenance is probably my favorite and we’ve had them come in quite a few times for multiple issues. My biggest complaint is the air conditioning, apparently it has nothing to do with the complex, and everything to do with Wright Hennepin, but in the summer if AC is something you enjoy or need, this might not be the best place for you. We were told they were saving energy so the AC shuts off randomly throughout the building so everyone has a share. Being on the top floor and heat rising, it is hot as hell and truly unbearable sometimes (we can’t do more than two loads of laundry and run the dishwasher in a day without it being at least 85 degrees inside). We had to buy a portable AC unit which now leads to a us having an extremely high bill to keep the place even remotely cooler. I think the rent is too high to have to do that. Considering I still live here, I’m going to cut it short. I hope they fix this issue because it wasn’t like this when we moved in.
Forget about the deposit and be prepared to pay extra. They charged us $500 for a small mark on the counter top saying it has to be resurfaced. When asked for the bill, they reduce it to $260 saying that they would have refunded if already paid.I have asked them to cut $160 for move out cleaning from deposit. An they charge $160 for cleaning and extra $100 for carpet cleaning. I wonder what they have done with the first $160.We were promised that 5280 was a pet free building as my wife has allergies, We see dogs all the time and they keep lying them to be security dogs. When asked for proper justification, all we got was a deadline and warning about reporting to collection agency. I dont see a reason why collection agency came to picture as we never said we will skip the bills, all we have asked for are receipts and justification. They say its a verbal bill from the vendor and no written bills are sent. Are you kidding in this day and age, verbal bills would work ?
Stoneleigh is great if youre looking for a quiet place 30 mins from downtown Minneapolis. Its close to Maple grove which has a lot of good shopping, Ridgedale Mall, Target, Fresh Thyme, etc. The staff is attentive and the grounds are kept up. The apartment we moved into was clean and had so much natural light that we knew almost the moment we walked in that this was where we wanted to live. The maintenance team greets you with a smile and issues are dealt with in a timely manner, even if its as silly as not being able to shut your window. I have never felt unsafe living here. We commonly see people walking their dogs and there is a small pond that you can run around close by. Im happy to be living here!
Update: Stoneleigh front office reached out to me to perform much needed repairs on the pool table.Edit: Stoneleigh has been my home for 4 years now and Im getting tired of the endless changes in management. Theyve stopped receiving packages at the front office, and amenities really arent being kept up well at all - the pool table has needed maintenance for as long as Ive been here. Still happy with my experience with maintenance staff. But stoneleigh is starting to show its age.Ive had great interactions with the office; the maintenance staff are fast and friendly! Apartments are a little expensive for the size, but not more so than a lot of places in the area. The amenities and public spaces are cleaned often. Noise is well muffled between apartments, but definitely carries in from the hallways/ upstairs neighbors. Overall, Im pleased with Stoneleigh.
(-) Two murders in less than two years which leads me to believe background checks are not thoroughly conducted.(-) Had a vehicle broken into and items stolen, requested information from any one who may have witnessed per Police Department instruction, but the office didnt send an email alerting the community until 10 days after when I requested a second time. Curious how many other incidents happened that residents werent aware of.(-) Extremely high turnover with the office staff. There was never the same person to communicate with when following up on a question, concern, or incident.(+) The maintenance staff is the best Ive ever experienced. This is the only positive experience I had while living here.I previously lived here when it was under different management and it was amazing. It has made an incredible decline since.
This place will trick you into thinking youre a valued resident then completely ignore your concerns and issues as you leave. Dont believe the positive reviews youll read around the web as every front office employee also lives there and has to be the only positive reviews. As every other resident Ive talked to here, hated it and thought management was rude, unaccomidating, and unprofessional. They over charge you for water, trash and the other utilities they force you to let them set up for you. The parking lot was way overfull always. The only good thing here is the maintenance team was nice and prompt but this in no way makes up for the lack of consistency shown to one resident then not the next. They are terrible at responding to emails and other communication. The front office is honestly a mess and since thats who you deal with.Im not usually one to care about writing reviews but honestly I wish we never paid for this over-priced apartment complex with their high-end living. The exercise equipment was broken and when we left it wasnt fixed 2 months after I sent in the request. They have community events which they will then try to make up for in rent thus making you pay for it in the end.Find another place, youll be glad you did!
Beautiful grounds, clean buildings, and great natural light in each spacious apartment. Very pet friendly, great for dog lovers!
I have appreciated the accommodations shown by Stoneleigh employees. They have worked hard to resolve any issues, wether related to lease/contract details/discrepancies, apartment repairs, etc., in a timely and understanding manner. Honesty and transparency go a long way, and Ive appreciated their efforts to maintain that. The facilities have been outstanding!
Brandon and his team make this property a stellar place to rent and make it my stay home:)Its conveniently located to a target, costco and walmart. The value for money is awesome and so is the cleanliness, front desk and maintenance staff, location, excellent amenities including affordable underground parking and renters insurance.Love you!! Stoneleigh at the Reserve in Plymouth, MN.TrilochanStudio 2119, Bldg. 5250
This community is simply amazing. Not only do they do a phenomenal job keeping the buildings superbly clean, the staff is what makes the community feel especially at home. They all know you by name and some even know your apartment number, makes you feel like you are truly home and have someone looking out for you. The staff are always welcoming and the amenities are above top notch. Pang, Lindsay, Kaily, kayelyn, Brandon, Ryan, are all awesome and I love our chats when I stop in. I love it so much I usually just go stop in to say hello. I don’t want to move! Thanks stoneleigh team for making this a wonderful place to call home!!
This apt complex is fantastic! The staff is outstanding and extremely helpful in anything u need fixing...they are right there to help you u out...I call them Johnny on the spot!!! Great surroundings bea utiful pool, extremely clean and the staff is also friendly, courteous, and they dont hesitate with anything! I would highly recommend stoneleigh at the reserve to anyone who needs a great place to live!
The staff is amazing and friendly! I love my apartment and the location is great!
BEWARE OF FALSE PROMISES - While you go on tour of your possible new home there will be a lot of promises that will be made to you about how hard they work to make you feel at home. But they DO NOT care about their residents AT ALL. Because the truth of their business is that the second you sign that lease you are in their trap. At their mercy. My story - Management will advertise this luxury apartment to be smoke free however we have neighbors that like to do Marijuana at the oddest of times. No action gets taken. EVER. Its been over a month and their main buildings elevator has been out of order. Good luck to those carrying their children, strollers etc and the handicap that decided to live in the levels above. They have made no efforts to get the issue fixed. Plus the building is tearing down fast. Their stairways are unsafe because their door bumpers always pop off and you can step on it accidentally and fall - yes this did happen to me. One night a fight broke out - it was loud and the next morning on our way to work we noticed broken beer bottles all over the place. The hallways are always dirty and smell bad - except when they have a tour of the place scheduled. They dont have any kinds of security systems. I do not feel happy, comfortable, nor safe here. Its the worst place I have ever lived.Going forward, I will be taking pictures of everything that happens and goes wrong to post here because clearly management doesnt care, but as a future resident you will care.
Loved living at Stoneleigh! The area is top notch!
(page 1 of 2)I enjoyed living at Stoneleigh for nearly two months in February and March, 2019. It was a nice experience, however the facilities are somewhat schizoid. Great construction and service but disappointing appliances. The building layout, construction, and grounds are top notch: Generously sized entry vestibules, wide hallways and doorways, roomy stairways, wonderful underground parking, and apartments with lots of natural light, great insulation, interesting floor plans, plenty of closets and cabinets, generous counter space, high ceilings, decent common spaces (particularly the exercise rooms), and good sound dampening between units. In the one bedroom model, there is a giant walk-in closet by the apartment front door: great for a coat room, mud room, and pantry. The bedroom has a giant walk-in closet with shelving adequate for a massive wardrobe. The kitchen has plenty of cupboards and drawers as well as plenty of space for three people cooking at once. The exterior balcony would be great to grill/barbecue/lounge in moderate weather. Alas, during my stay the outdoor temperature was mostly between -10 and 10 °F (-23 and -12 °C). When I left for work, Id turn the thermostat down to 55 °F, but never did the apartment cool below 62 °F. Either there is excellent insulation above (I was on the third floor, the top) or the apartment below was toasty warm all the time. The first explanation is more likely correct. The apartment is generously equipped with large clothes washer and dryer, full size refrigerator with integrated freezer, dishwasher, garbage disposal, full range (oven and four burner cooktop), and microwave oven. The bathtub (with a shower) is huge: easily large enough for two to bathe at once side-by-side, and for a 62 male like me to lay nearly flat.Though Interstate 494 is adjacent to the property, it presents little of a sound/noise issue, at least from a southeasterly facing apartment. The snowplows clearing the parking lot were many times noisier than the noisiest of freeway traffic. With the apartment windows shut, the sounds were mostly from inside the building: heating equipment, refrigerator, and maybe the faint sound of a television or stereo in an adjacent apartment. The most serious downside of Stoneleigh is the low quality of the appliances. This is why I dont rate it five stars. Every major appliance is the cheapest full-size GE model available at the time of construction (around 2003). The dishwasher is very noisy and inefficient (it uses 25-40 gallons of water per load) and melts plasticware on the dry cycle. (More advanced dishwashers blow hot hair for drying.) The refrigerator rattles loudly while running which is about 50% of the time. Fortunately, the one bedroom apartment bedroom door shuts out the kitchen noises pretty well. The clothes washer has huge capacity, but it is a top loader so it takes a long time to fill, needs generous quantities of detergent, and doesnt clean so well especially since the municipal water is quite awful. (Each Stoneleigh building has a central water softener which presumably helps.) The clothes dryer is generously sized and works fine though it is electrically heated despite natural gas being available. Same for the water heater: electrically heated even though there is natural gas at the furnace. In my unit, the smallish water heater is on a shelf suspended over the clothes dryer. The oven was very slow to heat, taking 8 to 9 minutes to reach 400 F. The range top is bent (damage by a previous tenant) so none of the burners are level. The microwave works well enough though it has odd wire shelving inside (which I removed for use).(continued)
Tl;dr: living here you will experience awful management, poor living conditions, loud neighbors, and the occasional headline grabbing homicide.I lived in this apartment from mid 2015 to early 2017. To echo what the other review have said the building is loud and dirty. Parking was a mess when I lived there (and from the recent reviews is still a mess). Finally, management wont lift a finger to resolve any issues that might arise while living there. When my wife and I lived there we suffered through loud children at 2-6 AM jumping on our bedroom ceiling every day and when we moved units we had a neighbor below us who rented their apartments for partying only. They would stuff 20-30 people in a 2 bedroom and go until 11 PM when they would hit the bars. Sometimes they would pick back up at 2:30 AM. They would not listen to management, but eventually moved out.A far more concerning, point I want to expand on is the property has suffered 2 homicides since 2016. The first, which happened while I lived there, was a SWAT shootout in the hallways of the 5200 building. There was quite a spectacle the day after. The Hennepin County crime labs were there along with about 15 sheriff and city police cars along with all the trappings of a crime scene. Management did not comment until well after and swept it under the rug. The second, I just saw in the paper, involves a fatal stabbing . Since I no longer live there I cant say for sure what the response will be. However, I would not be surprised if the response was the same.Given these two killings within 3 years, even if I had a wonderful experience living there I still could not recommend it. With how awful our personal experience was and these killings I can easily tell others to look literally anywhere else to live. These homicides are a symptom of the poor management and lack of care you will experience if you have the misfortune of living here.
There was murder on this property last week Jan 8th 2018. Management did nothing to secure the buildings in the aftermath. - When you google this event you will come across an article that says there was a shooting here in 2016 as well.Today, January 17th 2018. The building’s fire alarms went off. Four times within an hour period. No one was in the office (during office hours) to explain whether or not we needed to evacuate. Also, the fire department did not show up. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE in this community. My husband and I have already started looking at properties around to move out before our lease even ends. Because safety is our number 1 priority for our family and we are truly concerned.Just posted some pictures as proof if google allows them to post. Living here has been such a burden and a nightmare. We’ve had so many maintenance related issues that never gets resolved. What’s the point of having a maintenance staff if all they can say is there is nothing I can do about it?This is the first and only apartment where our windows are leaking air and ice has formed on the window inside the apartment. They came and saw and told us there is no solution. If we would like there is some plastic we can buy and they would install for us but it’s not the apartments job to fix this. And we were told everyone complains about this but they don’t do anything. The elevator was down two months this year but they charged everyone the full rent. Why? When something happens on the renters part they slap you with fines, but when they make mistakes there’s usually an empty apology and no action taken. Our bathroom flush has been giving us a problem since the first week and everything the guy comes plays around with it until it “works” and then leaves. But after the third time they really should just start changing parts. But they won’t.The bumpers behind the doors in the staircases always pop off. Because they don’t get repaired they simply get replaced. I’ve tripped in the past called wiedner to complain. I’ve been told that management took a look and found nothing. Basically been called a liar. But the picture proves it all. They have “central AC/heat” which might as well have not been there at all because one room gets hot as hell the other freezes over and the Living room is never the temperature it says on the thermostat. We’ve called about they issue the only thing they did was change the thermostat. We had to look into it our selves and figure out they they installed the vents upside down which was the reason it wasn’t working properly. All of this has caused us to pay extra every month on water electricity and heat. Signing the lease here was a mistake. Don’t let the smooth talking staff fool you into believing anything. Ask them to put every promise in writing, date it and sign it. Otherwise you’re being scammed.
Weve lived here only a week and a half so take this advice with a grain of salt. So far, so good! The office staff is great and the manager even helped my Fiance move couches into our room. Theyve been good with communication and getting back to you. Fair warning, if you get someone with heavy feet above you, youll know. Sound proofing is a bit dodgy. Also, just in case, get EVERYTHING in writing, just like with any other contractual obligation. Try to negotiate rent! We couldnt afford the asking price and I was able to get it down $45.Be prepared to do the following before/while moving in:- $300 security deposit- Pro-rated rent for the month upon moving in (About $40/night)- $150 move-in fee (Try getting this removed, I didnt push too hard and I regret it)- Purchase renters insurance- Set up internet with Comcast- Set up an electric account with Wright Hennepin Electric- Set up natural gas (heat) with Centerpoint Energy
Andrew, their Community Director has been nothing but helpful and friendly since the day I toured. He has been prompt at responding to my questions, and actually cares about his residents/future residents. I have not even moved in yet, and the entire Stoneleigh team has been wonderful to work with. Looking forward to move in day. Thank you Stoneleigh team!
Its 11 PM... and again this is when your contractor decides its a good time to shovel everyones wooden steps. Its loud and obnoxious. Seriously, this needs to stop.
My wife and I toured this complex this week and while we were impressed with the complex, we were incredibly displeased and very frustrated with the process. The grounds/units look really great, and the amenities are very nice, but people are looking for an apartment, not a resort. So a racquetball court, fitness center in every building, indoor basketball court, etc seems like unnecessary expenses that I assume inevitably trickles down to raised rent costs.Anyway, that didnt bother us too much. What bothered us was that we had 14 days to figure out where we are living next month, and Stoneleigh completely wasted the little time we have. We set up a showing for a Thursday, but were so nervous about losing the unit (weve lost 2 from other places previously, so wanted to be sure not to lose this one) that we gave them a call on Wednesday and asked if they had any other showings. They said no so we asked for some applications. We wanted to be ready to apply immediately at the showing on Thursday. Well Wednesday night apparently our unit was taken, and instead of calling us to cancel our showing, they waited a day so wed show up anyway and they could try to sell us on something else. They told us they had something available on 9/5, so, frustrated, we went home to figure out if it was possible for us to be homeless for 5 days so we could wait for that unit. We decided to submit our apps to reserve the place, even though we werent sure wed even be able to rent it. Another day passed as we discussed it with our current place, and after begging for an extension on our moveout date, managed to shrink our homeless window to 2 days. Excited, we called Stoneleigh back, only for them to tell us that the unit in question was actually not available until OCTOBER 5th. 36 days after our moveout date.In the 3-4 days that we sat around, dealing with Stoneleigh, all 3 of our other options were taken, and we are now back to the drawing board and desperately searching for a way not to be homeless in two weeks.Beautiful place, professional presentation, but completely unprofessional in practice.
