I loved living here, surrounded by beautiful art in a historic house in the best neighborhood in the city. Ive lived in three great places in Shadyside (including the terrific Lily Mansion on 5th Ave). This home, on S. Aiken Ave, brought me closest to an easy walk to good food. I found myself truly in the community and getting to know people. I almost forgot to mention the splendid gardens where I spent a lot of time!
Great place to stay! Beautiful house. The location is also very good, everything I need is in walking distance. I will stay here again if I ever come back to Pittsburgh!
Very clean and very well maintained rentals. You will have everything you need. Very quiet and in a great location. Dont forget to check the artwork if you stay there.
I stayed at Fifth Ave. Unit 7 for 4 months. The apartment had everything I needed from a bed and desk to pots and pans. The place was very cozy and clean. There was quick access to laundry in the basement and to restaurants with a 5 minute walk to Walnut Street. Katina was also very nice and helpful during my stay.
Had a wonderful stay at the Mansion at Fifth and Ivey. A gem of an apartment in a historic building convenient to the universities, the city and local fare on street parking is easy. The mgmt is very friendly and responsive. Recommend highly.
Stayed at Katina’s apartment for a month and I enjoyed it! Convenient location, quiet, and safe.
The apartment was absolutely gorgeous and Katina was a wonderful host. We had everything we could possibly need from spare towels to laundry in the building (and everything in-between). The beautiful artwork throughout the house was the cherry on top of what was already a great renting experience.
I stayed at Fifth Ave. unit #3 for about 4 months. Katina is a great host! Katina was very responsive to all inquiries and very helpful. The studio is stocked with everything one might need and is very clean, cozy and well-organized. The location is great, in a quiet area within walking distance to CMU, shopping malls and restaurants. It is also right on the bus line with easy access to downtown and to the airport. I would definitely recommend it to others and come back again myself.
I rented from Katina for a year. It was a great place to stay. She went above and beyond with making sure I had everything I needed. I felt very safe. The location was great. I was within walking distance to everything that I needed. Her staff was always friendly. It was very quiet If I ever need a place to stay I hope I can stay there again.
I stayed here for about 2 months and had no problems with accessibility . Everything was within reach, and the apartment was fully equipped. Very clean and quiet. Parking was also very convenient.I will stay here again if needed! Thank you Katina!
I stayed in apartment 1 for almost 1 year. Clean apartment and house, nice area, very accommodating and kind owner
I stayed at Fifth ave. unit #1 for one month. The room was well furnished and provided all the appliances needed for a comfortable stay. Internet, TV, basic kitchen appliances and laundry were available. The room was spacious, and the mansion was quiet and clean. Katina was always prompt with responses. She also provided me documents needed for street parking. Overall, I was happy with my studio and recommend this location to those looking for a short term visit.
The place was immaculately clean and homey which was just what we were looking for in a COVID world. It was also in an incredible location on 5th Avenue within walking distance of Sq. Hill, Walnut Street in Shadyside, Oakland, etc and parking wasn’t a problem. The owner is a nice lady, but slightly neurotic about her place (which is a beautiful old mansion that her mom bought originally so I get the care and TLC she puts into it). This was good because it made us feel clean and safe, but beware that at times you can feel like you are walking on egg shells.Would recommend staying here without a doubt if you are able to look past the rest. I told the owner I was going to write a review and would hope she is willing to accept the compliment along with the criticism.
I stayed here for 3 month, Katina is a good host and very helpful. The unit had everything needed. The location was great, within walking distance to everything that is needed.
We stayed there for 5 months. It was fantastic. Katina is a very nice and friendly landlady. She really takes care of the place and keeps everything running together with her team Shally and Jim. It´s a very beautiful place, high class furnished. It´s clean and quite. Weekly cleaning and free laundry is included. The place is located in the heart of shadyside, which is the most beautiful neighbourhood in Pittsburgh. It´s close to the Carnegie Mellon University and Pitt. On Walnut street nearby you can buy anything you need. We highly recommend this place. Whenever we´ll return to Pittsburgh we´ll stay there.
I lived here for a year. All the basics are five star. It is quiet, clean and well maintained. It is walking distance to shopping varying from Apple to Aldi. Four bus lines stop a short block away.Besides the basics, this place offers many extras. The entrance has a well kept lawn with a variety of plants and flowers. The covered front porch comes complete with swing. Upon entering, you are greeted with the “grand center staircase .”This old mansion has been converted into apartments while retaining the charm of the old. It has high ceilings, decorative moldings, and stained glass windows. In addition, it is whimsically decorated with original art work created by the landlady’s Mother. It is a delightful place to call home for any amount of time.
My son needed a place to stay in Pittsburgh for his internship. After researching online, this is the only place I found that offers a monthly rental. Also, it is a very convenient location. The owner, Katina is friendly & very helpful. She assured me that my son is going to be fine during his 3 months stay. She also helped us when my son got sick. Everything you need in the apartment is all here, especially the weekly cleaning is included. Im glad that I made the right decision to choose this place for my son. Definitely, recommend!
I enjoyed my two months in this convenient, safe, peaceful home away from home. Katina is a marvelous landlady; she wants people to enjoy her mansion, and she puts great care into making it a great place to enjoy! Her facility is charming and provides all the conveniences and then some. Easy walk to Oakland, and two blocks away from Shadysides central retail core. Although its on-street parking only, Ive always found a spot on Ivy, right next to the mansion. Highly recommend this rental spot.
Stayed here 2 months in unit #1. The space was generally quiet and is conveniently located. Was able to get a lot of work done.
My husband and I rented the Aiken Avenue apartment for about a month after being displaced by a fire. Katina was extremely accommodating to our immediate urgency to move in and made the process very easy. The apartment itself is uniquely lovely and afforded us all the comforts of home. The location is prime, walkable to all Shadyside has to offer. It was a peaceful sanctuary for us during an otherwise difficult time.I would highly recommend Shadyside Rentals.
The position is simply amazing, with a bus stop at only about 100 meters and Walnut street at walking distance with its restaurants, shops, and cafes.Katina is super available for any help and very friendly. The laundry room a brand new washing machine and a brand you drier, detergents are provided for free for all guests. For sure, if I will come back to Pittsburgh this will be my first choice!
Shadyside Rental is an excellent place to stay. It is only walk distance from Walnut street, market district and many other facilities. It is a quiet and beautiful place with stylized decorations in the mansion. Katina is friendly and is ready to provide every guest with great experience staying here.
The mansion is absolutely beautiful. The apartments have everything you need for your stay in place and even if there is something that you still need, Katina is trying her best to help you and make your stay a great experience. Shadyside is a lovely neighbourhood. Would definitely stay here again!
My husband and I rented the Aiken Avenue location for three months. The landlady, Katina, was very accommodating. The house was very clean and well kept. In addition, it was just a block away from nice restaurants and shopping.
Shadyside Rentals is an amazing place to stay. The mansion is beautiful. You have everything you need for a long as well as for a short stay. The landlady is wonderful. She will help you with anything she can as soon as possible. We enjoyed staying there a lot. The location is perfect. Restaurants, cafes and supermarkets are only a few minutes away. I can recommend this place to everybody. Enjoy your stay! :)
I am am a medical student and needed a short term living space for 1 month in Pittsburgh. I stayed in the small studio apartment on the first floor for that time and it was a great experience. I had plenty of privacy and it was quiet place for me to study. The building is also located in a great location as I was able to walk to the hospital for work and walk to the gym; both walks were only 10-20 min. Katina was easy to work with, and provided a lot of nice accommodations in the apartment, and the once weekly cleaning was very helpful. I would highly recommend this place, Shadyside is a great central location for shopping and restaurants and it is only a short walk away!
I stayed with Shadyside rentals for one month while I was in Pittsburgh for a medical rotation. The location of the mansion is great and is within walking distance to all of the restaurants and shops on Walnut street. The property is also very clean and well-maintained. However, while I think that it was a great place to be for a short stay, I do not think I would be happy staying with Shadyside rentals for a longer period of time. The reason for this is that I didn’t feel that I was paying rent for a space that was truly my own and I didn’t have as much privacy as I would expect. For example, while in my apartment for weekly cleaning, Katina thought that the heat in my room was set too high. Instead of just asking me to turn it down she placed and locked a plastic cover over the thermostat so that I would no longer be able to control the temperature in my room. Had she just asked me to turn it down, I gladly would have done so. There were several similar incidents during my time there as well.Overall, Shadyside rentals is a convenient, clean place to stay and great for short-term rentals. However, I would not want to be here for a long-term rental because I did not feel that I had as much privacy as I would like.
I lived in unit # 1 for one month. The owners really care about the building and the tenants. Location is prime. The unit is very clean and comes with everything. The kitchen is however very small and the front street is noisy in the morning. Overall I enjoyed my stay.
I stayed in the mansion for 3 months while relocating for work. It is a beautiful and convenient place to stay. Katina and her staff are very friendly and accommodating. The neighborhood is pleasant with lots of great shops and cafes nearby. The apartment was well furnished with all of the necessities and Shelley came in weekly to clean. I could not have picked a better place. Thank you, Katina, Shelley and Jim!
Shadyside Rentals is fantastic. You will feel at home from the very beginning. Katina is very helpful, flexible and professional, and you will also get great advice about Pittsburgh. The apartments are clean, tidy and location is excellent, in the hearth of Shadyside. You will have all you need. I highly recommend staying here. Best location, great place and best host.
Nice, comfortable apartment with all the amenities a person would need at a great location. Katina is very helpful.Definitely recommend.
I have lived in this place for almost one year. Great quality! Very clean and quite convenient. You have room cleaning service every week. The laundry (free) is quite convenient too.
I have had the pleasure of spending 1 week at Centre Ave #4. I would definitely stay here again. The location is fantastic - 20 minutes walking distance from Carnegie Mellon University, very close to groceries, restaurants and central to many attractions in Shadyside and Oakland. The room is large and comfortable by any standard. Facilities (TV, free wireless, ..) are excellent. It is like returning to a second home. Katina is extremely service minded, helpful, and friendly.Highly recommended.
Additional review, after 4 years I stayed at Katinas rental place for a month again. This time its at the fifth ave location, its still wonderful, its a lovely space. location is close to walnut st, which means I can access bars, restaurants and shops. during my time stay, it was really nice. Katina is so helpful to getting things sort out, shes a great host.
We rented the apartment for a month this past summer. It was absolutely excellent. The size of the apartment made it feel more like a home. It was well furnished as advertised and we only needed to bring our clothes. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The location was great and allowed us access to the universities as well as downtown Pittsburgh. I highly recommend renting from Katina. She was a very gracious hostess.
Shadyside Rentals property is convenient, exceptionally well maintained, and very comfortable. Katina is a responsible, responsive, and meticulous host. If youre in need of transitional or short term housing, this is a great place.
I very much enjoyed my stay at Shadyside Rentals. The location is excellent and the property is looked after to a very high standard. Highly recommended!
Very nice place. Clean, furnished apartment, reasonable price, close to Giant Eagle, bus stops, restaurants, etc. This is the only place I know for weekly rental in Pittsburgh. You can rent by month too. Katina is very nice and responsible. Definitely recommend!
This is a superb place to stay. The huge Victorian building is lovely, the flowers are maintained beautifully, and its decorated and fitted to a high standard. The apartments are painted and furnished with an eclectic taste, with unique and valuable furniture, and original artworks. (Apt. 6 is sumptuous.) The bathrooms and kitchens in some units are impressively upscale. In the less expensive units they are quite adequate. (Ive stayed in three different units in this building.)Katina offers great, prompt service when there is any difficulty, down to the smallest things like bringing in and installing a new lightbulb. The laundry machines downstairs are brand new. Nearby you have a Market Place Giant Eagle, which means they have greater than usual selection, and a Whole Foods. Three blocks away on Walnut St. you have two banks and the X fitness gym, which is good, and lots of shopping. And down Fifth Ave you have Carnegie Mellon University and University of Pittsburgh. You can get a pass from the city for parking on the street in the neighborhood for a nominal fee, and there are lots of buses. Its the perfect place to stay if you want to be in that part of the city and youre short term.
Overall it was a wonderful experience living here for two months while on short term contract. Service was courteous, prompt, and always professional. The location was pristine, less than a minute from Giant Eagle Market District. The apartment was fully furnished and I found that everything I needed was provided. I couldnt be happier with the experience and I found that I was disappointed by the time it came for me to leave because I had adjusted so quickly to the beautiful apartment Shadyside Rentals provided.
I sayed in #1 in Centre Ave for 3 months. The apartment is in a very convenient location for grocery shopping, car rental and transportation (bus). There are a lot of very nice restaurants and bars within walking distance. The apartment itself is uniquely furnished, equipped with everything you need, clean and in a good shape. Cleaning staff comes in once a week.Washing machines and dryers are in the basement but need to be paid for.I really enjoyed my stay and can highly recommend this vendor.
I stayed at this lovely place for a month and couldnt have had a better experience. First of all the price was great compared to other rentals in the area but it doesnt end there. The location is great as its two blocks off walnut walnue where you can find a lot of cafes, bars and stores and also right next to a bus stop on the 5th avenue.Katina (The lovely owner) was always in touch to make sure every concerned of my get answer; the place is amazingly clean and made me feel like home; There was also weekly cleaning on Wednesdays. It was a great experience staying there and I recommend it to anyone looking for short term rental in the area.
I came to Pittsburgh for a sabbatical year and live here has been perfect for my goals. The location is excellent, the house is nice, quiet and clean, and the apartment has everything I need. Katina is very nice and always solves quickly everything. Nobody bothers me, nothing demands my attention. This way I can dedicate all my time and energy to work and take advantage fully of my time in US. If I have, in the future, another opportunity to come to Pittsburgh, I certainly will stay here again.
This is a good place to stay in Pittsburgh. The location is great - easy to commute to the downtown and two major universities. The price is reasonable and relatively cheaper than other places nearby. The apartments are clean and provide everything, including full-fledged kitchens, for a long-term stay. I will recommend the place to anyone who might be visiting Pittsburgh and looking for a place for a long or short-term stay.
I stayed at The Mansion on 5th for four months while completing my student teaching in the Pittsburgh area. Its peaceful in the house and the tenants are respectful of each others privacy. It is a convenient location close to buses, bars, restaurants, grocery, and medical centers, and I would recommend it to anyone needing a nice place to stay short term in the Pittsburgh area.
The apartment was quiet, clean, comfortable and convenient. The location is spectacular, just steps away from all the great food and shopping on Walnut Street (Apple Store!) and minutes from Whole Foods, Giant Eagle Market District, Target and Trader Joes! Katina is lovely and attentive. I highly recommend the Mansion and look forward to returning!
I stayed on 5th Ave at apartment #5. I was very pleased with the apartment. It was spacious and clean. In addition everything was arranged very well. The location is also excellent as it is close to a supermarket and the Universities are nearby as well.I will definitely come back if I have another short stay in Pittsburgh and I would recommend it to anyone else as well.
Im writing this review because I regularly look through reviews myself before deciding where to stay. And I want to help out people who do their research.Heres the scoop on Shadyside rentals: Katina is a good saleswoman. And she seems really nice at first. The apartment I stayed in was nicely furnished. The cleaning lady is great. That said, at the end of the day, Katina will probably drive you crazy. Everyone in that apartment thought she was crazy. She regularly lies and has no qualms about charging you for things you shouldnt be charged for. And most of the positive reviews here on google are probably due to the fact that she wrote them herself (she is tech savvy). The only language Katina understands is the language of fear, so she will regularly intimidate you into doing what she wants. Furthermore, if/when you are nice to her, she wont reciprocate. Instead, shell take advantage of you. (She kind of reminds me of Vladimir Putin.) For these reasons, I highly recommend staying elsewhere.
I stayed here twice. Perfect apartments with everything you need. Quick and excellent service. Katina always responds promptly. Location of the apartments is very good, near bus stops, the Market District and the university in the heart of Shadyside.
Katina hosted me for a year, during the very difficult Covid time. Katina is an exceptional host. She went above and beyond to make my stay very comfortable and was very accommodating, meeting all my requirements. The mansion is clean, quiet, and very well maintained and in a great location, close to Walnut Street, UPMC, CMU. The apartments at the mansion are well equipped and furnished. I loved the unit 5 and enjoyed my stay. I highly recommend the apartment. Thank you Katina for being such a great host.
5501 Centre Avenue, Unit 8. That was the address where we first put up when we moved in to Pittsburgh. It is conveniently located. You are barely 100m from the Giant Eagle store where you can buy all your groceries. The bus stop is at your door steps. You can travel to anywhere in Pittsburgh by hopping on to the appropriate bus which ply from 5 in the morning till beyond midnight. Walnut street, the most happening place in Shadyside is a brisk 7 min walk from this place. The unit has two bedrooms and a large living room. The rooms are appropriately furnished with comfortable furniture. The kitchen is stacked with pots and pans where you can cook your meals without any hassle. The car park is right behind the building and as a guest you are allowed to park your car in that space. The unit has a balcony right on the Centre avenue where you can spend hours watching the street and savouring the aroma of the gourmet food being cooked in the restaurant located in the ground floor of the building. The land lady is very kind and nice. She came to meet us on the first day and sensing our needs send us an extra mattress to use. Few days before we were supposed to vacate the apartment she called me and enquired about my plans and work schedule. Then to my surprise she asked me to postpone the moving out till the week end and she allowed that free of cost. Through out the month long stay in the apartment, we always felt at home. We highly recommend this apartment for short or long term stay. You just need to bring your clothes and you will get all the rest of the stuff needed for the family right there.
I stayed in unit #1 at the Centre Ave Building. My experience with this company was excellent. My first housing option fell through when I came to Pittsburgh, but I was able to contact Katina and move into a unit through Shadyside Rentals on the same day. The process of moving in was easy and the unit was great. It was clean, well furnished, and had everything that I needed to live in Pittsburgh for a month, including WiFi, cable, and a fully furnished kitchen. Move out was also easy and Katina was always available and easy to get a hold of if I had any problems or questions.
I stayed at #5 for a month and I have to say it was just an excellent stay! You just cannot go wrong with the location and space - its near everything - restaurants, Giant eagle (across the street), Whole foods, Target, Walnut Street and in case you dont want to walk then there is a bus stop 2 paces from the main door.Katina is really great. She is really responsive to any problems or help you need with the apartment and she ensure that you have all the things to make your stay comfortable.Highly recommended and most convenient!
The whole apartment was clean and neat. Everything needed was already there. Its well located near the Giant Eagle and a bus stop that made my life less difficult as a foreigner here. Katina was always ready to respond to various issues. The rent was pricey but totally worth it.
Very convenient commute to downtown: short walk to bus stop, and then half an hour to downtown via 71B or 71D bus. Its also not far from Googles Pittsburgh office in Bakery Square. Fully furnished including internet and cable TV. Ideal for short-term stay in Pittsburgh with no lease required.
I stayed at Centre Ave #1 for 3 weeks and was very, very happy with the place! The apartment was clean, cozy and had everything I could need. I felt like every time I thought I wish I had ______ (towels, napkins, baking sheet, garbage bags, etc) there it was! The neighborhood is great - Giant Eagle is literally on the same block, and it is only a half mile walk to Whole Foods and Walnut Street! There is a parking lot, which is awesome. Katina responded to any email I sent very quickly and clearly cares about her apartments and customers. Coming from out of state, I was very, very pleased to find such a nice temporary place to stay!
I am a physician and was there at Fifth avenue apartment for two months. It is close to the major hospitals and walnut street . The environment is quite and safe. It has all the basic facilities and It is easy to work with Katina. It is close to several bus routes if someone wants to use public transportation.
A wonderful experience all around. The property is maintained to a very high standard as far as safety, cleanliness and accommodations.
Stayed in both the Center Ave and the 5th Ave property for a period of around 5 months or so whilst engaged on a short term contract. The apartments are well furnished, clean and very well situated in the popular Shadyside area and ideal for short and medium term stays.Location is a few blocks from Walnut Street and Market District and Giant Eagle supermarkets. The neighborhood is very pleasant and quiet in the evenings.Katina was a pleasure to deal with and very helpful with my needs during my stay.I highly recommend Shady side apartments.
I recently visited CMU for a one month research collaboration. During this time, I stayed at Fifth Ave. Apartment #1 and the room was excellent. The house is very conveniently located near the shops on Walnut street and is walking distance from the university. Katina is also lightning fast at responding to emails and she regularly checks with the guests to make sure everything is going smoothly.I would strongly recommend staying here if you are visiting Pittsburgh.
I stayed in Fifth Ave. Unit#1 for around 2 months. The apartment was clean, the staff very friendly and, most important, everything one needs was provided (TV, Internet, plenty of kitchen appliances, towels, etc.). The apartment is in walking distance to CMU (around 10-15 min) and to Walnut Street (5 min). I enjoyed my stay and definitely recommend it to anyone planning a short-term visit in Pittsburgh.
I stayed at Centre Ave #6 for 5 weeks and was very happy with my apartment. The apartment was actually larger than it looked online and had everything you could ask for. Its was close to UPMC Shadyside and to a nice Giant Eagle Market Place and was a short walk to Walnut Street. I would definitely stay there again and it was perfect for someone moving into the area.
Was staying for a month at the studio and it was wonderful. A great location, everything you need is included in the apartment. Big recommendation!Katina was always helpful and kind. No wishes were open.
I’ve stayed in apartments at both Center Ave and the Fifth Ave and would come back if I need short-term accommodation in Pittsburgh in the future. Both locations are good for working at CMU, and the apartments were equipped with everything I needed. I experienced no issues and all my questions were answered quickly.
I stayed at the Centre aparments for a year. Good location to get to work, catch the bus, get groceries and to walk around the neighbourhoods. Safe to walk around in the evening. The apartments were clean and homey. Could contact Katina about issues that would be dealt with promptly.
My boyfriend and I stayed for one month in Unit 6. We both really enjoyed the apartment and found it very comfortable for a short-term place. We were desperately looking for a place to stay (just moved from Florida and looking for an apartment in Pittsburgh) and Katina was able to accommodate us within 24 hours of contacting her. My only complaint would be the coin-operated washer and dryer. With the amount that you pay to stay at Shadyside Rentals I think that this should be included. The location is very convenient, close to the bus routes as well as Walnut St.
The land lady is very considerate. The apartment is clean and maintained regularly on a schedule. Located at a very convenient location - walkable transit, eat outs etc. The University of Pittsburgh is close by too.
Great location in the Shadyside district. Apartment was very clean upon entry, and was cleaned once per week throughout the month I stayed there. Overall was a pleasant experience!
I stayed #3 room for a month. It was a tidy and comfortable room to live in. The apartment is on very convenient location where we can easily access to CMU and University of Pittsburgh and so on. Its a really good choice not to stay hotel but to live with its well-equipped kitchen, laundry, warm air-conditioning and kind hospitality.
A great place to stay for short termI stayed in unit no 3 at 5501 Centre ave, at the corner of S. Graham for a month. It is very well furnished. You have all you need in the apartment.the guests need not carry anything. it is like home. you will get evrything there.just come stay and relax.it is close to Giant eagle and some of the food courts. The neighborhood is very pleasant and quiet in the evenings.Katina was a pleasure to deal with and very helpful and she is very kind and responsible. She cares all her quest likes her family members. she responds very quickly.100% right choice to stay in pittsburgh.
Very convenient location (15 minutes walking to CMU and one block to bus stop).Fully furnished with weekly cleaning. New washer and dryer in the basement. Katina ishelpful and very quick in resolving issues.
I spent about a month in shadyside rentals - studio 3 in fifth avenue... The room had all the facilities and it was quite comfortable. Recommended for those who need short term furnished housing.
I stayed in Fifth Ave. Unit#8 for two weeks. Its a good place for short-term visit. The apartment is in walking distance to CMU (around 10-15 min) and to Walnut St. (5 min). I enjoyed my stay and definitely recommend it to anyone planning a short-term visit in Pittsburgh.
I stayed here for a few weeks and I found the place to be super clean, and easy to deal with. the room was modestly furnished but stylish. The place is up to date with wifi and a full array of cable channels. several eateries are also within walking distance including Giant Eagle, Subway, and Starbucks. Buses also stop right at Centre and Graham making it convenient to travel to Oakland and downtown.I would highly recommmend this to anyone coming to Pittsburgh on a working contract, or student getting set up in Pittsburgh for the first time.
A nice apartment where we stayed for three months, the owner Katina and her team of Shelly and Jim were very helpful and ensured that I had a comfortable stay.
The apartment is in a great location, with multiple bus lines stopping right outside the door. I took the bus to Pitt everyday and never had to wait long. The apartment has everything you could need during your stay. Katina responds to any problem you have, immediately.
Great place & location! Well furnished with all required amenities and is clean.
I stayed in two of Katinas 5th Ave apartments. Both were equipped with all of the basics and then some. And if an apartment doesnt have something youd like, then youre encouraged to ask Katina for it. I asked for a rice cooker and an extra large pot, and both were delivered to my door within a few days. Katina was also very quick to respond to my email requests, usually within the hour. And last but not least, I need to mention her assistant, Keith. He consistently goes well beyond the call of duty, in offering to do whatever he can to help out tenants, and he certainly helped make my stay all the more enjoyable..
I stayed at the 5th ave property for the last two weeks of my internship in Pitt. House was quiet and comfortable. I had my own room and bathroom, used the kitchen, and had wifi and cable. Short walk to many cool bars and restaurants in Shadyside. Bus stop right down the street. Was able to keep to myself with no disturbances or problems.Really enjoyed the stay.
I stayed at the Circle Room on 5537 Fifth Avenue for ten days. The accommodations can best be described as excellent value for money. The house has lots of character and is a good alternative to a bland hotel room. The proprietor, Katina, has been very helpful throughout the entire stay and has always responded to requests for assistance within a day.Keith, who assists with the management of the property, did a great job of keeping the apartments in tip top shape. He has also been very friendly and an excellent source of information about Shadyside and the greater Pittsburgh area. The house in Fifth Avenue is conveniently located - there are pharmacies and small shops on Walnut Street (about a 10 minute walk away). More extensive shopping can be had in Giant Eagle or Target, both of which are only a mile away.Overall, an excellent place for a medium to long-term stay and I would return here if I find myself in Pittsburgh again.
Just spent a month at Apartment #1 in the Centre Avenue location.Overall, the apartment was great and satisfied my need for affordable, short-term lodging in town.Apartment is well equipped for a single occupant - work area, tv, kitchen area, bathroom, storage, etc. Also, the apartment is very convenient as you can walk to multiple grocery stores, restaurants, etc. Also, there is a bus line nearby. The only downside to this apartment was that it was kind of noisy. It is a street level apartment so you have both street noise and the noise of other occupants in the building entering/exiting. It is not too bad, but it is noticeable.I would definitely stay here again if needed.
I stayed in unit #8 for the past month and it was a pleasant experience from the start to the end. Especially, their housekeeping service is excellent.
I stayed in fifth ave. Unit#7 for two weeks. It is a very good room! Everything I needed was there, clean. Katina was really friendly. If I hqve other opportunity to visit Pittsburgh Ill prefer to stay there for an other time. Besides, the location of the apartment is very convenient, walking distance to Giant Eagle, CMU, and Pitt University. I enjoyed my stay in Pittsburgh and recommend it to anyone looking for short or medium term place to stay. Thank you!Omar
I stayed in the studio #7 of Fifth Ave in the Fall semester of 2013, while I was on sabbatical at CMU. I needed a quiet place for a single person, ready to live, within walking distance of CMU and restaurants/grocery stores, and this was ideal, so I could concentrate on my work. The buses to downtown have a nearby stop as well. The Shadyside area is very nice. The owner (Katina) is very responsive to problems that might arise -- in my case, getting some extra furniture and replacing a malfunctioning shower tap. I recommend this place, and Id come back if I need another stay in Pittsburgh.
If you are planning to visit Pittsburgh for a month or longer, for business, research, study, etc, and looking for an accommodation for this purpose, this apartment is definitely recommended. Each room in the mansion has kitchen and bathroom independently. This is a fully furnished apartment, equipped with dishware, cooking utensils, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, towels, bath towels, hanger, clothes iron, vacuum cleaner, TV, Wi-Fi, etc. Therefore, what you need to bring is only some daily necessaries. You will have housekeeping once a week. Free laundry is available at the basement. The mansion’s lounge and rooms are decked with antique furnishings and paintings, providing pleasant atmosphere. The owner of this apartment, Ms. Katina Kefalos always gives helpful and quick responses to inquiries from (potential) users. (For example, inquiry about reservation of a room, burnt out of a light bulb in the room during the stay, etc.) Residents of this apartment are requested to follow some rules (for example, keeping the room clean, etc…), that is effectively working to ensure the resident’s peace and comfort. Payments by credit card are accepted. (Very useful for international travelers.)The Shadyside area is a safe place. The apartment faces to the Fifth Avenue, where you can easily catch busses to go to CMU, U. Pitt., UPMC, and so on. The apartment is very close to the Walnut Street, the fanciest street in this area where you can enjoy coffee, window-shopping, etc. One supermarket is available on the Walnut Street. 15 min. on foot to Giant Eagle on the Center Avenue. 20 min. on foot to Whole Foods Market on the Center Avenue. I don’t feel the necessity of car during my stay. Owing to this apartment, my stay in Pitt for two months in 2018 summer became more pleasant one. I appreciate that, and I’m planning to stay here again in 2019 spring.
I spent three months at the apartment and cant complain about anything. The interior is as described and shown at the pictures. I lived in the 8th apartment and the roommates have been very nice and quiet. All in all it is very quiet in the house and also very clean. From the outside as well as from the inside it looks very neat. The complete apartment has been cleaned once a week.Next to the house is a bus stop. A District Marcet (Giant Eagle) and a ALDI can be reached in 10 minutes by feet. The neighbourhood is very safe and neat.
I enjoyed my stay very much. The apartment was clean, comfortable, quiet and well-maintained.
I stayed here about 7 weeks while doing an internship at CMU. The apartment was charming, clean, and kept up very well. The location was convenient (Giant Eagle, short walk over to Coffee Tree Roasters on Walnut St.), and I could walk or take the CMU bus easily to campus. I thought the rent was very fair considering there was regular cleaning of the apartments. Enjoyed my stay and would consider again if I ever end up in Pittsburgh for another short term stay!
I stayed at #6 for one month and so. The building faces a two-line road (Fifth avenue), but the apartment #6 is quiet. Its location is also good because it is close to universities (CMU and UPMC) and some stores (on Walnut street). The apartment is also well-maintained with weekly cleaning.
I stayed at apt. 5 for six months with my wife. Even though we came here only with clothes and PC, we spent really comfortable life in this nice historical house. My wife and I were very fond of lovely stained glass windows, old-fashioned but well-maintained furniture, and artistic atmosphere of the apartment and the whole mansion. To our impression, the rent is surprisingly cheap if we take into account all the matters included (king-size bed, Wi-Fi, electric service and other utility, air-conditioning, using washing machine and dryer, TV programs, using kitchen stuffs etc). The location is very good: I walked to CMU every day (it takes only 20 minutes). 1 minutes’ walk to a bus stop; a few minutes’ walk to the Walnut mall; 15 minutes’ walk to Giant Eagle; 20 minutes’ walk to the Bubble tennis courts etc. Neighborhood is safe. The whole mansion is fully air-conditioned. Apartments are completely cleaned once a week. I really appreciate Katina’s hospitality and nice housing service. And we also thank Jim and Jacky for professional maintenance services. We will miss this place in the future.
I stayed here for a week and a half, and had no complain whatsoever. The house is very well kept, with good equipement. Very clean place. You can buy your own food and have everything there to prepare it. Thats a great advantage on money and time saving, especially for breakfast. And luckily the Giant Eagle supermarket is just 1 minute away! The location at Centre Avenue keeps it as a good option if, say, you need to go to CMU as was in my situation. Its just a pleasant 25 minute walk thats really easy to do.Its also located very close to both Ellsworth Ave., Liberty Ave., and Walnut Street, where you can find some great places to shop, have dinner, or a beer.I found it nearly unnecessary to take a bus during my whole stay, and didnt even leave the area to visit the rest of the city! Each day I would just go somewhere around for a dinner or a drink, and had enough options. It is easy to contact Katina in case you need anything, and she is very helpful. Will probably stay at the same place when I visit CMU again.
I and my wife stayed 2.5 months at 5th avenue, apt. 2. The apartment is very nice, fully furnished, and cleaned once a week. It is located in the beautiful neighborhood of Shadyside. We enjoyed walking to all places around: CMU (15/20 minutes of exercise, although we had the option of the CMU bus), 10/15 minutes to Giant Eagle, and 5 minutes to the lively Walnut street. Katina was exceptional and always present when needed. She cares about her apartments. I highly recommend these apartments.
I stayed at this location for a month as my girlfriend and myself transitioned to NYC. It is located at extremely convenient location in shadyside and has all of the amenities required for a short term stay. Katina was extremely accommodating with move in and move out dates, which made a stressful situation easy!
I was in ap # 8 at 5th avenue. It was very well-kept and clean.Katina was very kind and helpful.I would stay here again if I need short-term accommodation.
I had a very nice stay. The house is quiet, clean, and very well located. The wi-fi worked very well.
I stayed in Centre Ave (#2, 5 and 3) for 6 months. The location is great.Supermarkets (Giant Eagle…) and nice shopping streets (Walnut Street, Ellsworth Ave) are a few minutes’ walk. Japanese shop ‘Tokyo Shoten’, too (good point for Japanese) . Bus stop is in front of an apartment, so you can go anywhere easily (to downtown, PITT and CMU).Rooms are well furnished. You can live as soon as you arrive. There are soap, toilet paper and many towels. Off course free WiFi, too.The owner ‘Katina’ is very kind and responsible. When a trouble happens, she must deal with it soon.I recommend Shadyside Rentals.
Very nice place. It was furnished and very well maintained. The rent included water, electricity, heating, cable TV, high speed internet (cable and wirreless) and periodic apartment cleaning. If something needed maintenance or replacement, they would do it very quickly. You can find everything you need at walking distance (supermarket, restaurants, etc.). The bus stop is just at the corner, including the CMU shuttle stop.
I seldomly experienced such a warm welcome. Staying with Katina was great.
Very nice house, nice location and owner was quick to respond to any problems I had (and there werent many).
We have a very nice stay at unit 6 centre av. The apt was very clean, having everything that was necessary for our living there for a month. The building was very quiet within a very nice neighborhood. Being very close to supermarkets, walnut st and a lot fo shoppings was a real plus. Katina was always very prompt to offer us all kind of help that could be necessary, making sure that eveything was fine.We would certainly consider to stay there again on our next trip to Pittsburgh.
