We have two cats, 5 rats and one mouse. They are all seen and taken care of at Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital. The staff is EXCELLENT both helpful and knowledgeable! Dr. Mihalic takes care of our cats most of the time and specializes in pocket pets like our mouse and rats. We just took our four new rats in to establish care and they did a great job in handling them and making sure they were all healthy! Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital is very responsive to e-mails through their website when we have had questions. Thank you Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital for giving excellent care though out the years!

I have been a client of Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital for over 20 years. I have the outmost confidence that my pets will receive excellent care. The run an organized and profession vet hospital . The staff are friendly and caring. They take care of all your needs. My only downside I have experienced is that my last visit May 27. 2021 we still have to communicate by phone from your car. It is time to resume some normalcy and be able to be in with your pet. Your pet needs that security of your presence. There are only you and tech/vet in the room with your pet. Masks works according to the experts. So both of us can be mask. It is time to open up!

This place is the best vet office we have ever visited. The receptionists and techs are great people. They are very helpful and they genuinely care about your pet. The veterinarians are outstanding. We have taken our pets to all of the vets here and we love all of them. They are all very knowledgeable, kind and friendly. They explain things in a way that you can understand even if you arent a veterinarian. They were outstanding with us when we fought cancer with one of our cats. They were amazing, and tender with us when we finally lost that battle. They never led us or our kitty astray. They are outstanding with normal pet health checks as well. Very comprehensive checks and fair prices. I honestly cant say enough good things about this place. These people are angels.

This is the worst vet office I have ever been to. They performed a surgery to remove a cancerous tumor on my dog which they said they could do, and then botched the entire surgery and told me they couldn’t fix it. So they sent me to the surgeons at PVSEC so that they could fix their surgeon’s mistakes. It almost killed my dog and the surgeries to fix their mistakes cost me over $10,000. Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital did nothing to make up for their mistakes. Plus they screwed up multiple appointment which they scheduled and did nothing to make up for their mix ups. Do not take your pet to this place. You will regret it.

Hm sorry, I cant post a review without a star rating, but Im not actually commenting on their service, just wanted to make a public note to save other phone-phobic millenials a phone call: in case other rat owners are trying to get their rat spayed, the full service for pocket pets on their website is a bit misleading. I *think* theyll see small mammals for basic care, like lifestyle advice, but not surgical.(Admittedly, the phone call was somewhat baffling, so its possible I misunderstood something: Im calling about availability and pricing for spaying rats. Oh, no, we dont do that here. Oh, okay, but you do do other kinds of care for rats, right? Youll have to call around to figure that out.)

These lovely folks actually took all the time “I” needed to understand what was going on with my mini “Doxy”. I was getting “Nothing” from her old vets, no response at all..even though “ They” had said my “Hoppy” had an enlarged heart and needed two types of “meds”! NO response even after multiple phone calls. The folks at Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital took my concerns very seriously and treated “Hoppy” very quickly, and had X-ray and blood work done and a response to me within 24 hours. Fortunately everything came back O.K. I am greatly relieved and grateful to these lovely folks for all they did!

The only thing I wish was better about this office is the staff at the front desk. The people at the front desk don’t seem to be too nice. Not all of them. But some of them when I call on the phone they seem a bit rude when I ask how much things are. They make me feel like they are aggravated with me because I have to check the prices to make sure I can afford it. That’s the only thing I would like to see change in the future hopefully. I brought my puppy here for his first check up and shots and had the worst experience ever. The vet and vet techs were extremely contemptuous towards myself and my pup and made me so upset I drove home in tears. I was already anxious about bringing my puppy in for the first time and they did not make me feel comfortable or confident of my puppys health by any means. They were rude enough to ask me if I was feeding him, then tell me they thought his blood sugar was low, only to reassure me afer the fact that it was perfectly fine. They told me they shoved food and treats down his throat right before his shots which he threw all of it up on the way home - making me feel like a bad dog owner because of the way they handled the situation. I will never come back here, nor do I recommend this facility to anybody.

Fear-Free Visit success. We are clients of Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital for over 15 years. Our Jindo dog, Suki (3 years old), was rescued from a South Korean dog meat farm last year. She is extremely anxious and fearful of people and new situations, so we chose the “fear-free” exam team for her visits. Rachel and Angi combined Suki’s favorite treats, pheromone calming scent, gentle touch and sound, all on a soft blanket on the floor. Accompanied by our other dog, who is also a calming influence on Suki, they were able to not only administer vaccination but draw blood with no fussing or agitation. I honestly didn’t think we would be able to get Suki to relax enough to do this. We highly recommend this process for pets with anxiety, behavior and special needs issues.

****A WEEK LATER AND I AM STILL WAITING FOR LAB RESULTS THAT WERE PROMISED IN 24-48 HOURS****I took my dog for emergency care, and I am thankful for the vet and vet tech being attentive and stabilizing my dog. We returned with our dog, per the vets recommendation, the following two days for blood work and tests. Three days later and they were not able to identify what was wrong with my dog. We assumed we would have to seek a specialists consultation. But we were advised by the vets to wait until the last lab work came back. ***My complaint is that I have yet to receive my dogs blood work/lab results. I have called the last three days and was told the vet is with another patient and will call you back; the vet is out of the office and will call you tomorrow; and the vet is in surgery and will have to call you this evening. WHY WHY WHY is it up to the client/patient to call for lab results that I paid for, that I was told would be given to me within 24-48 hours? A week later and I am still waiting for someone to give me the results. It makes my family and me feel like we are not a priority to this practice, or perhaps it is because there is nothing more they can do for my dog and therefore we are no longer a source of revenue?? Confused and Very Disappointed.

Dr. Kelly did not seem overly concerned did not seem overly concerned about certain symptoms I was still concerned about. I took her to the humane society to get her vaccines, spay, and microchipping, but never had an actual vet for her. I was able to get an appointment the same day, and they were so nice there! Bones can be a spit fire, so I was worried about how she would be handled, but she did well. Dr. Joleen Mihalic was caring and made me feel at ease when I spoke with her. I just didn’t like the fact that I brought dog with one year and a eight months and I asked to clean her teeth cause I could see many tartars and her groomer also said that she has some wholes that normally get filled with foods. However the dentistry said that it wasn’t necessary to clean her teeth yet cause it was too son. I felt too expensive just to take a look and say that she didn’t need her teeth to be cleaned. For that price I could pay two full/complete bath and check ups.I will try another dentistry on next time.

Took my dog here because he had a loose tooth (which was not bothering him) and to get a quote on a dental cleaning. Our typical clinic does not do dental services. Our dog had his annual check up at the end of April at his normal clinic where he was determined to be in good health but would need a dental cleaning within the next year. I made an appointment at Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital because they said they provide dental services. At the appointment we waited about 20 minutes between when the tech checked us in and seeing the vet, which my dog spent shaking and pacing in the exam room. When the vet came in she had him go up to the table and fully examined his body, so by the time she looked at his mouth he was being rather uncooperative. The vet said that yes he needs a cleaning and she could not get a good look at the loose tooth. She said shed get us a quote and the tech would review it with us. Fast forward 15 minutes and the tech brings in a $1000 quote, including notation that 3 teeth need pulled (How does she know 3 need pulled when she barely looked in his mouth?). I told her I need to discuss this with mu husband and we proceed to the checkout where they charge me $53 for the appointment TO TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT I TOLD THEM THE ISSUE WAS OVER THE PHONE PRIOR TO THE APPOINTMENT. We wont be back.

Dr. Mihalik has been my girls (Sophia and Cheyenne, and my BELLA who passed away December 5, 2013 😢) veterinarian and she is also amazing. She has a way with the dogs that keeps them pretty calm under the situation of getting shots, etc. Some reviews say they are expensive, they offer every shot and heart guard, flea and tick meds, but you do not have to get them if you choose not to. The vets at Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital are great at their job, the doctor I see for my 6 month old kitten truly seems to care for him. She always seems very willing to give advice and answer any questions. However I feel their techs/assistants are awful. Had to take my kitten in for some blood tests to make sure hed be ok for a neuter, the tech took him into the back and after about 10 minutes you could hear him hissing and screeching all throughout the clinic. About 20 minutes later they bring him out and tell me they couldnt get all of the blood they needed for the tests because he was squirming around too much. Instead of taking the blood from his neck/shoulder area they took it from his back legs down by his feet. The tech brought him out to me shaking and he had a compression bandage around one leg to stop the bleeding. He has some bruising where the needles went in, which wouldnt be so bad if it wasnt obviously causing him pain. Hes very energetic and likes to run around and leap onto furniture and now the pain is making that difficult for him.On top of all of this they had told me at the front desk that the neuter was scheduled for the 30th and it was printed on my paperwork as such. Come to find out today that it is actually on the 17, and they dont know if theyll be able to reschedule it.Safe to say I will be going somewhere else for my kittys neuter!!

UPDATE: The manager Kelly apparently is only wonderful if you do not try to question what she says. The moment I questioned what she said she was argumentative and bitter like a two-year-old who couldn’t have a cookie. Called in to find out about my cats urine that I paid $300 to have checked and was told I would get a call about the day before. When I inquired I was told I was A problem patient and that my animals were no longer welcome! Three of my seven animals are on medication and care and PHVH is putting their lives in jeopardy and I told Kelly so and she didn’t care. When I asked Kelly to speak with the owner she refused when I asked for an address to write to someone she refused as well. Hopefully they will at least give me my records so they aren’t responsible for killing my animals. It’s really unfortunate as I gave them an entire year to work out the kinks and they still have the same communication problems in the office. The last time I waited for results it was three weeks going on four! When you have a cat that’s not even 8 pounds and it’s losing a pound a week you can’t do. Honestly, part of the problem in this office is that they are constantly changing out veterinarians I do not believe I’ve ever seen the same veterinarian twice and I have seven animals three of which see the veterinarian frequently! One cat has problem absorbing food, a second cat currently has a UTI, my elderly dog is on medication for arthritis pain and most recently our dog has been diagnosed with hereditary eye problems. We take really good care of our animals, I guess it was too much to expect that our veterinarian would care as much as we do. Instead they take our money and never call us back with results and we have to chase them and get abused for following up when we don’t get called back. PHVH should be ashamed of themselves. As for Tina putting this whole situation into effect today, you have done me a favor in the long run, but financially and medically speaking you have hurt my animals, but I am truly surprised that you did this today as there was no conflict between you and I, but you will have to live with what you did. Seven animal lives you have put in jeopardy, thank you so much Tina and Kelly.Wish communication was better. It would resolve so many issues. Manager is great. Vet’s I’ve dealt with (Dr. Kelly)is wonderful. But communication is lacking when it comes to blood work and follow through.

When it was time for her sutures to be removed they left 2 in her and she developed an infection. Over $1500 dollars later, they only thing they would do for her is recommend more and more rounds of antibiotics to fix a problem they caused and then charge me for it!! When we asked for our medical records, during her last visit they got snippy with my husband and did a piss poor job of wrapping my dogs leg with bandages.
