They towed my car from a lot of a lot where there business was closed for the day. They watch the lot and sweep in to two you as soon as your back is turned. I came back 12 minutes later after picking up my take out order and my car was gone. I had to pay $200 cash to get it back that night or pay storage fees if it was there over night. These guys are predatory towers that take advantage of people. Too bad they are still in business.
Went to look at a motorcycle there. It had a very reasonable price and the staff was very friendly and accommodating...
They were quick and so efficient and helped me in a very stressful time. Great prices also. Highly recommended.
I would definitely give this place zero stars if I could. I got towed by this company without any warning and or notice before they had towed my car. I contacted them for days only to get voicemails each and every time. I had looked up when the business is open, went there only to find out nobody is even there operating. I called again and again only to be heard on voicemail. I visited the next day for my car and they never showed up or answered the phone. I only got my car because of an affiliated company worked with them. This company is lousy, its customer service is beyond human comprehension, and it should not even exist. No way of contacting the business, the website doesnt exist, its customer service is awful.
After six tow truck drivers not showing up and I’ve been here for 6 1/2 hours Howard’s towing showed up. so I’ll tell you if you need Your car towed call em. Oh goshdon’t mess with the rest go with the best go with barge towing my name is Jim Sheets and I approve this message that’s the number to call there
Howard was fast to respond to my time of need. He was friendly and considerate, and made me feel confident with the towing service. I highly recommend Howard Towing and Recovery, LLC.
Towing company does not necessarily need excellent customer service. However after establishing a business decency is the expected. Check for car damages before leaving the property. My brothers car had some parts hanging after they towed his car. I know cause I was working on his car a day before. We asked politely how that happened and we were asked to get the **** of the property. So we pulled our camera out and they stopped responding to any of our questions.
AWFUL! Avoid at ALL COSTS! Not only do they charge $210 (WAY higher than normal market rate) for towing a car, but they’re terrible service doesn’t even make up for it. I called the number to ask to get my car, and the man told me he would meet me at the shop at 4:30pm. So arrived at 4:35pm. I then get a call saying he’d be 20 minutes late, so I had to stand OUTSIDE in the FREEZING 20 degree weather for not 20, but 25 minutes, until when he showed up at 5pm, just for the man to rudely serve me. He pulled up in his truck, beeped the horn and pointed at me in an annoyed matter to come in and sit in his truck while he writes me up. Doesn’t even say “Hi” or “Hello” or “I’m sorry for being late,” just looks at me annoyed and says “Drivers License??” I hand it to him, and he finishes writing up the check. Then, I politely asked for a discount because of his tardiness and shortness/rudeness with me on the phone. He huffs and puffs and rudely just says “no man” and then I begged him for a discount politely and he took off a meager $25 and proceeded to talk about his “shitty ex-wife.”This was AWFUL. This place should be shut down by the federal government for being a price gouging establishment. Their service is terrible and even the shop is just horribly disgusting. I would give 0 stars if I could.
Probably shouldnt say be right there and it turn into 3 hrs. I felt it was worth it and thank you!! 😊 he was polite.
For as long as I have been dealing with the good people at Howards, I have received nothing but the best quality service. They have always been there in my time of need. Their timing has always been efficient, all of their services are reasonably priced, and Howard, as well as the rest of his employees and crew are professional with all that they do, and to top it all off, they are the coolest set of individuals you will ever meet! They have always given me the impression that they love what they do and do what they love. Howards isnt just a business. Theyre family. So, anytime your car needs serviced or a tow, Howards is definitely the place to go.
As explained to the employees, I understand that they are doing what they are assigned. However, some situations can be handled differently and that is why I give this rating. The operator needs improvement and the communication at the site can use improvement as well. I know they deal with people from all walks of life, but what needs to be taken into perspective is that not everyone is the same, so how you may approach a person who is obnoxious and anxious is not the same way you approach an individual who is the complete opposite. That is where the issue lies. Have a thorough crash course on customer service and ethics to ensure that not only the employees provide great service but also top notch customer service.
When faced with a challenging situation, the entire staff at Howards Towing was extremely helpful. They listened diligently as I explained the situation, worked to contact the necessary members of management for approval of different requests, and helped along every step of the way with smiles on their faces. Homer, Megan, Tyler, and Rail were the crew that helped us out so thoroughly. They were very respectful and courteous, which was an impressive feeling to get as a member of the LGBT community negotiating with an employee in a Trump t-shirt. I would absolutely recommend their services, but more importantly to keep in mind that they will mirror whatever attitude and outlook you present them with!
So I had a huge tire blowout, in the middle of a busy afternoon, with tons of things to do! I called Howard’s and they sent someone promptly, and I was in contact with the driver immediately! The drivers name was JEFFRY, he was fast, professional, fair and accommodating! He towed me to the tire shop, and waited with me while I confirmed my plans. He did everything he could to get me going, so I could still make it to pick my kids up from school on time! I WILL call again, and I WILL recommend! Thanks again JEFFRY, your my Special J!
After riding my Harley all day I broke down 45 Miles from Home and I had AAA Plus RV and after 5 Hrs. They could not find anyone to haul my bike. I Called Howards Towing and they came 50 Miles to help me out at 10:00 PM. I would HIGHLY recommend these guys. Very Friendly and willing to help. I called AAA back and they are going to reimburse me in full. Thanks Jess!!!
Got into an accident on Valentines Day, downtown, during rush hour. Every tow company I called told me they either could not help me or only could only get a truck to me after 3-4 hours. Howards was able to schedule a driver to be down there within 30 minutes. The whole experience was as hassle free as possible.
Howards Towing does a wonderful job on our property! Our residents love how often they stop by to assure that our private lot is staying just that. The owners and employees are wonderful to work with. You all rock!
I got my U-Haul truck stuck in my yard tonight. Fred, Jesse, Mike and the mascot Doug were an awesome crew. They were here in less than an hour and had the truck out in less than 15 minutes. Their rates were extremely fair. They were very knowledgeable and made a very difficult job look very easy. I would highly recommend them. They were quick, professional, and knowledgeable.
We work with Howards frequently and its always good. My company does business back and forth with them on a regular basis.. I think the best job ever was when Ben towed a fully loaded plow truck with its plow in the middle of a blizzard for a price that I think is too low to even write on here. I was even updated on the status of the trucks arrival so I could have someone waiting on it since it was after 1 in the morning. They have also transported non-running construction and film industry equipment for us in the past, which shows that they are extremely versatile and willing to go the extra mile to do things other companies wont do. Howards is great to do business with, whether we are providing them service or they are providing us service.
One of the drivers, John, was absolutely wonderful to me! He is very personable and very, very nice. He surely made my situation a lot easier and for that, Im more than grateful. I will be for certain to suggest this towing company to anyone in need. Thank you again!!
FAST, COURTEOUS, PROFESSIONAL!!!After waiting in the rain for 2 hours another tow company to arrive to pick up our dump truck after it broke down on a job, we called Howards and they were there in no time! Their price was very reasonable and the driver was very professional. They did not try to scam us or charge us an outrageous fee, even though they very well could have with the circumstances (fully loaded dump truck after a tree job, the size of our truck, time of day). They gave us a fair price with no hassles. We would definitely use their service again and would recommend them to anyone!
Very very rude, broken down, unwelcoming, and unprofessional. Alarming propaganda and a scary dog are among the decorations. Also charged an extra free for having two people tow it at once when it isn’t listed on the site and is also absurd anyways.
Howard and Jesse were in a word; amazing! They were professional, friendly, conversational, and really made the whole situation feel under control. The cab smelled of coffee in the best, homiest way; and the guys were very respectful, asking permission to smoke before lighting up. Their work was quick and efficient with no additional damage to our truck. They were there to pick us up when they said they would be and dropped the truck off exactly where we needed. Overall, one of the scariest nights of my life was definitely made a little better by these guys.
I am an Uber / Lyft driverMy tire pressure light came on at the beginning of my shift at when I stopped at the gas station to fill them one of the valve stems snapped in half. The tire was empty in seconds. I call them at 9:53 p.m. On a Saturday Night. I assumed that I would probably be told there was nothing that could be done at that late hour On the weekend And that I would have to wait until Monday to have it repaired. I also assumed that I would lose my Saturday night shift and my Sunday shift. Instead, they repaired the tire and put a new valve stem on and I was on the road and back to work in 45 minutes. As far as Im concerned these guys should have red capes as part of their uniform!!! Not only did they save me from being stuck 30 miles from home late at night ---They saved me from losing half of my weeks earnings.Their number is now saved in my phone!I certainly feel much safer doing the job that I do knowing these guys are out there to help me even in the middle of the night. For some reason this is posting under my husbands name. I am a middle aged woman driving in the city the middle of the night. That safety net is invaluable.
Jesse was extremely helpful! We found ourselves in a predicament with a flat tire, and he responded extremely quickly. I would give them more than 5 stars if I could! Great job guys! Much appreciated!
Howards Towing was amazing, my mother and I were in desperate need of getting a car removed from our garage and the vehicle only had one wheel and tire mounted to the car. Howard and his helper was truly GOD sent!!!! He was able to step in and make sure that the car would be removed quickly and in a safe manner. His skills and knowledge were unmatched and I truly appreciated all their efforts and kindness. I will definitely use them again these guys are the best, truly the tough and diligent Pittsburgh Workers that we all need. Thank you Guys -I knew you guys were the men for the job.
Jesse and Pat came to my rescue tonight and towed me home. They arrived at my location within 15 min and had my truck hooked up and towed home right away. Great guys, good conversation on the way home. Im calling these guys again if I need a tow and you should too.
My starter gave up while my car was parked in a garage with low cross beams. Jesse was able to get his truck in to get my car out when several other companies couldnt. The service was exceptional and I would use them again if I was in need of a tow.
NEVER USE THEIR SERVICE. It is a true story! I went to the Marathon gas station in Forbes street and bought gas from them. Then I parked my car to go and check their car wash and also one other store in the street. It did NOT take more than 15 minutes. Can you guess what happened then? Howards towing came and towed my car! I started arguing with them over the phone but our discussion didnt go anywhere. I went to the towing company (far from the gas station). They said that as soon as I buy gas, then Im not anymore their customer and I cant park there any more (even not for 1 more minute!). I called 911, but they said that they can not help me and I should go to the court. Then I still refused to pay them money but they said that they will keep the car and wont give it me back. They were very rude and were almost going to get my smart phone to make sure that they will get their money back! Can you believe it?! To be honest, the way that they are treating their customers is really really bad. PLEASE PLEASE never use their service or buy anything from them.
Really helpful people. They came and towed my friends car when it blew a tire, and they ended up fixing it for her when the auto shop we brought it to said they couldnt help. It was affordable and quick
I cant speak highly enough of Howards Towing. We had an accident where I damaged one of my front tires in very icy conditions. Found out we were going to have a 5 hour wait for towing when I called it in through my insurance company. Called Howards and he was there with in 20 minutes. Nicest man ever! Hes personable and will tell you like it is. Its refreshing knowing that he runs an honest business and will definitely be using him for future needs. Be sure to call Howards if you want quality service!
Nine times out of ten when you hear the word towing it is not for a good reason, but I will say if I had to be towed by anyone Im glad it was Howards. Everyone we came in contact with was super friendly and professional. We enjoy making the best out of any situation, even if it occurs because of our own stupidity and Howards awesome staff was able to make the best out of it with us. Thank you for being so helpful and nice. :)-Katherine ScahillRef# 4893
I had to get my car towed because my back left wheel lost two lugnuts and Fred tried to help me fix it before we even got on the road. I then explained to him that I just moved to Pittsburgh recently and didnt really know where to take my car to get fixed so he called 3 different friends he knew who are Auto-Mechanics to help me. He was so helpful and friendly and joked with us the whole way which made it a lot of fun. I never thought having my car towed would be such a good experience. He found a garage close to my house too which was a plus. If I ever need a tow again, I am definitely calling Howards and I hope I get Fred. Thank you for helping this new city girl out!
Illegally towed my car for parking in VISITOR parking at a friends house. My car was still hot. Got there at 1145 it was gone by 1205, Then told me my friend isnt allowed visitors past midnight per property manager. Taking this to the magistrate. Someone will be reimbursing me.
This review is mainly about my sisters terrible experience with Howard Towing and as a result of her experience, I, too had to deal with their unprofessional attitude and business style. My sister was parked in a No Parking - violators will be towed zone. She noticed other vehicles parked in this lot and was told by someone that it would be OK to park their temporarily. After about a half hour, she went outside to her vehicle and found two guys lifting her rear wheels off of the ground (she was pulled into the parking spot, facing a block building). She explained her mistake and what she had been told and offered to move her car right away. The two cigarette smoking men told her that they HAD to tow her car because it had been entered into their system already and they would get fired if they didnt. BUT she could pay $180 and her car would be released. She agreed to pay the fee and they began to lower her vehicle back down as she went back inside to the ATM. Apparently, they do not have the means to process credit cards and accept CASH ONLY (how convenient for them!). When she went inside she told another guy in there that they were towing vehicles so he went outside. My sister went outside also and they were lifting her vehicle back up! She paid the fee and asked why that man was allowed to move his vehicle but she still had to pay the fee. They told her Well it sucks to be you because you have a nice car and he doesnt. HOW PROFESSIONAL. They took her $180 and gave her a receipt and she asked why they arent towing others. They said they would be back for an SUV there (which they never did, makes you wonder if it was a decoy vehicle to ease peoples feelings about parking there). Makes me wonder if these guys didnt just pocket the money for themselves.I called Howards the next day, explained the situation and asked to speak to Howard. They gave me another phone number. I called that number. The lady told me Howard is under a truck right now. He isnt much of an office guy so your best bet is to e-mail him or fax him and you may not get a reply until 2 AM. Again, very professional. I agreed and sent an email to the address I was given and then waited 3 days. The only responses I got were bounce-back emails saying that the address didnt exist. I called again and demanded to speak to Howard and left a message for him to call me. No phone call. My sister even left a message saying her car had been damaged (it hadnt, we just wanted to see if they would return the call) and to call her ASAP. NO RESPONSE. I then called the next day, and demanded to speak to Howard. I told them Howard had an hour to call me back or else I was headed to post my review. I got a phone call in 59 minutes but not from Howard. It was from the guy I spoke before saying Howard was at a funeral (understandable, if that was case) and he was going to try getting a hold of him. I told him I expect a phone call in the evening or the next morning. NO PHONE CALL.Howard, I gave you plenty of opportunities to avoid this review. You refused them all by not returning my phone calls. I had a complaint with the remark that was made to my sister and how she was treated. Apparently, that does not matter to you. Yes, my sister and I both know she was in the wrong by parking where she did, but the comments made to her by your employees were out of line.If you read other Google reviews, you will see Howard responding saying Give me a call and I will make this right. Sure, Howard. What you really meant to say was, Give me plenty of calls and I will ignore them all.Be cautious if you decide to solicit Howards services.
Very unprofessional and rude. Will not contact them again no matter how badly I need a tow.
Fast response and quality service. John was there in 15 minutes, was super accommodating and charged the price quoted on the phone which was slightly less then the total mileage. 100% percent would use again.
Jesse and his buddy Brandon were great. Very helpful and courteous. Howard towing was fast and on time. They dont accept American express, but isnt serious. Will use again and recommend them.
There is a cool dude who drives for this towing company named (Paul C). He went well beyond the service call and helped me out of a serious jam and still only collected his initial fee. Ive dealt with towing companies before, AAA... for example; and never received this kind of service before. Its cool to see that there are people who are willing to lend a genuine helping hand to a person in need. All the other tow truck driver could learn from this dude. I will keep his card handy and send business his way and will only use his services from now on. If you are reading this, I strongly recommend asking for (Paul C) if you need your car towed. When he arrives, tell him P.J. sent you. Thanks again Paul. Your a cool dude.......dude.
Howards was quick and helpful in my time of need. I broke down halfway across the Liberty Bridge (bad timing!) and he got there quickly, got me over to a repair shop, and even bought me a cup of coffee while I waited for my roommate to pick me up! Would definitely recommend for anyone in need of a tow.
My husband had our car towed for parking in a no parking zone. The guys were so nice about the entire thing. They told him that if he ever needed anything they would take good care of him. They did! He backed into a poll and knocked out the tail light in our trailblazer. He took it to Howard and Howard found him the cheapest replacement and replaced it for us for no cost. Excellent customer service, and great compassion and experienced well in their line of work. Definitely recommend for any auto care you need! If they can not do it they will refer you to the best people that can!
So friendly! Everyone from the guy who answered my initial phonecall to the driver himself -- the friendly customer service really made for a great experience in an otherwise unfortunate event. My car died on me in Shadyside and I needed a tow to my familys mechanic across town in North Versailles. Howards Towing was very friendly, helpful and professional right from the start. Picked up the car in a timely manner and towed it for a very reasonable cost.
I had a really good experience with these guys. Dan showed up to my apartment within about 15 minutes of me calling. My car would not start at all, and was parked in the tiny lot behind my apartment in the east end. Dan managed to get his truck into the lot, got my car up, and managed to get it out to the street without ripping the bumper off, which I honestly thought was going to be inevitable because of the terrible set up of the lot and the ridiculous brick streets where I live. Got me to my mechanic about 30 minutes after I called Howards, and I still made it to work on time. I recommend them.
I got towed from my apartment building because I did not have my pass showing, and I completely admit I was in the wrong. However my problem arises with how on their trucks and logo they have the American flag and USMC/Marines all over them but when we asked if they provide a military discount we got a hard no with a tone that it was such a ridiculous idea to ask and the justification that the owner was a marine and hes kind of a hard-a**. If you are going to advertise your business with our troops, you should at least support them or treat them with respect
5024 - I parked in an area I shouldnt have and Howard Towing made the experience much better than it usually would be. (no one likes finding their car missing) They were really friendly and understanding about everything and the man I talked to on the phone actually apologized for the inconvenience to me. The way they interact with their customers is top notch and the process of retrieving my car was fast and relatively cheap. If I ever get towed again, I hope its Howards.
Great company to deal with. Everyone from Howards are awesome people and will do anything to help out! I highly recommend them for your Towing needs.
I escorted my wife into the Social Security office in East Liberty, and since there were no disabled parking available at the time in the Social Security lot, I parked at the extreme edge of Home Depots parking lot. After getting my disabled wife settled in the office, I came out with the intention of purchasing window sealant and a set of Philips screwdrivers at Home Depot, my car had been towed! Apparently there is an onsite tow truck and if one does not go immediately into Home Depot, one gets towed immediately. When we approached Home Depot management, they refused to consider anything, merely saying Have a Good Day! I think that considering the situation, disability of wife, plainly visible disability tags on car, that at lease Howards would have the courtesy to advise us.
Tried to tow my car while waiting for AAA. Blocked my car and AAA driver. Was parked illegally, but in an emergency situation. Driver was rude and threatened to hit me. Wouldn’t back away from my car unless I paid $115. I paid the money because I didn’t know what to do. Didn’t call the police (was too angry at the time to think). Watch out for these predators.
Bad service. bad service staff, broken equipment in station square. I did not have information on how to pay. squealed our car. This rude lady charged an absurd 135 dollars
What a great tow team ! The team of Jesse and Brandon showed up well within the time promised, these guys are True Professionals, I will recommend Howards towing to everyone I work with, all of my friends and family. These guys are great employees for your firm and I will not hesitate to call again .
Do not let them Tow your vehicle they are pirates. You will pay out the nose for your property.
Broke down on a bridge in Pittsburgh with no hazzard lights at 10 oclock at night. We called multiple tows but none could really help us. When we called they were currently doing a tow so they got to us as soon as they could. The people were nice and prices I guess were decent it was my first time needing a tow.
Had to get my car towed from Shadyside to Nissan Dealership - Howards was my only choice due to location constraints. Prompt service and the price was fair (actually got the service for a better deal than I wouldve elsewhere). Hopefully I never need towing again, but if I do, this is the place Ill use.
Quite an efficient and helpful operation.Around 9PM in Oakland, I realized that my bike was going to give me trouble because of its starting system. I attempted to limp it home but alas, I was granted no luck.I called these gentlemen and they rushed out quickly and got my bike all taken care of in a highly efficient manner. Their courtesy was fantastic and they were extremely easy to talk to and deal with. From my experience working at AAA, late night drivers always had a reputation for being surly and unhelpful. These gentlemen fly right in the face of that and provide professional service at any time.I recommend them any day!
For some reason I always come home to find someone parked in my assigned parking spot that I pay monthly for and there are few things more annoying to me than that. Luckily, Howards is great and professional. The truck showed up in 10 minutes and I was able to park in my spot within 15 minutes. In one situation, the person whos car was being towed was very aggressive and hostile and the tow truck driver basically looked out for me and handled the situation.
Jesse drove down to the Ross Park Mall to get my car a little over a month ago. He was incredibly fast and professional. Overall he made the best out of a situation that was not ideal.
Towed my car 10 minutes after I got out of it. Pathetic. They sit on street corners and wait for people to exit their cars and they go tow them. I walked outside to my car gone and asked a police officer who was walking down the street and he said word for word Those guys at Howards are pieces of s***, they stalk people and take their car as quickly as possibly and charge an insane amount to take it back. He was 100% right. I had to walk over 2 miles at 1 am to go get my car just for them to be beyond rude when I walked it. Finally I see my car just for the interior to reek of cigs and to have a scratch on my window. Beyond pathetic. My first time to then area was a beyond awful experience. DO NOT EVER USE THEM.
Howards towed my car from Shadyside for parking in a no parking zone. When I went to pick my car up from the impound lot an hour after they towed it I seen that they damaged the vehicle in four different areas. I was very polite about it but he was not willing to pay for the damage even though his driver admitted to it. He charged me FULL price for the tow which was over $200. DO NOT USE this company. Ive seen several other complaints online of this same issue.
Fraud. Stay away.
I would give these guys 10 stars if I could. Jesse and Glen are great and were a big help! My car broke down in possibly the worst place in town - the on-ramp to west end bridge where 376W, 873, and 51 all converge. During rush hour traffic with 17 degree temperature. They made it to me in less than 15 minutes, had me hooked up in no time, and they were kind enough to wait while the garage got my car checked in. Then they took me home with my luggage since I was coming home from a week long business trip. If I ever need help again I will be calling Howards without a doubt! Great price, friendly service, made a bad situation much better.
This company ILLEGALLY towed several vehicles today from a private business parking lot in the East End of Pittsburgh. After the panic of everyone whose vehicle disappeared, the City Police were able to find the vehicles at their tow lot. :(
Quite Disconcerting! One of their drivers was clearly under the influence of something while operating his vehicle. If your vehicle was towed by this company you should have serious concerns about the legality of their practices and absolutely request an employee drug test. I wouldnt settle for less than a hair follicle test.
Howard is a great guy and helped me out alot
I got my car towed from CARSON ST a month ago and they said it would be 75$ to hook it up and $4 a mile after that. The people were very nice, we got it towed 7 miles away to a garage nearby, the total amounted to $103.00. We used a credit card. When we checked our bank statement it said they had taken $185.00 out of my account!!!!!!!!!! When we called Howards a man answered and said ohhh okay hold on and he never came back!!!!We called the credit card company and told them about the scam, so they took automatically took the 82$ off. I have the receipt for 103$ and everything from the driver!!This place is a scam just looking for people who are DESPERATE for help!! Do NOT GO HERE!!!
These guys are part of the local towing racket. Hopefully you never have to deal with them. If you see one of their signs, park elsewhere.
Predatory towing company. I admit to parking in an EMPTY street side gravel area to quickly pick up my wife in Oakland. But a block and back then charged $200, cash only. Late at night, with no inhibitance of the property owner. Ridiculous.
These guys are the BEST!!!They are quick, efficient & courteous. The driver was extremely helpful and very respecful.I would recommend them to everybody.
They towed my F-250 all the way home and made life a lot better than I thought it would be. Being stuck on 28 in the rain is not fun. Call these guys first!
I called many towing company..either too long to call back or the prices high..but when i called howard towing..they are the best. The call was answerd right away.price were lower ..and he was really fast and definitely know what he was doing..a pro😉😉😉being my ball joint crack 😐 i give howards 5 stars...i recommended to everyone. Thanks howard..God bless.
We called them for a tow and they damaged our car. When I tried to contact them about it, theyd blow me off. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt at first, i used to be a commercial driver, this stuff happens, just help me out. The driver who caused the damage was argumentative instead of professional, and settled on the idea that i couldnt outright prove that he was the one who caused the damage. I asked multiple people to speak to the owner to try and resolve this. Its been a month and Ive never heard back, even though they have heard from me about 8 different times. At this point if my car ever breaks down and I need a tow, Ill leave it in the road before I call these people.
Howards Towing Staff attempted to tow my vehicle from 5430 Centre Ave (Panera- Little Caesars) while I waited on an order of (6) pizzas. Little Caesars is an on site Tennant of the parking property. Howards Towing staffs refusal to be rational after providing a receipt and having the Little Caesars store manager come out was astounding! Shame on them for being ignorant and rude. The Little Caesars manager actually apologized for Howards Staffs rude behavior and couldnt believe their refusal to not tow my vehicle after ordering from his establishment. I will be disputing this ridiculous charge.
I recently had my car inspected through Howards. The car was picked up and dropped off promptly, The bill was fair, everyone seemed to appreciate my business.Howards Towing has NEVER done me wrong. I keep looking for a way that they will get me one of these days, they are Tow Truck Guys after all, BUT, after knowing them for 6+ Years, they continue to provide a great service, generous to those of us that need a hand sometimes and fair pricing. Theyve done work on my car, towed two or three of my previous vehicles, given advice about repairs, and have been good people to know.Seems like this Miss Welsh girl got her money back and a reason for the mix up. That seems to be the only time people leave a bad review, small mistakes that are usually remedied as soon as theyre made known.
This minimally cognisant vacuous pile of human debris towed the cars of approximately 9 patrons of the very shopping plaza in which he is supposed to be monitoring. The cars were removed at his discretion without any basis for removal. The plaza I speak of is on centre avenue in shadyside containing Walgreens, Plum, Chipotle, wine and spirits etc. I would strongly suggest not shopping or parking in this plaza and hopefully it will get a message to the property owner who hired this dumb prick.
To echo the several other reviews - these scumbags are towing predators. Fred is an uneducated misogynist with a foul temper and severe attitude problem. He withheld information intentionally and implied I was poor when I expressed I prefer to use a credit card for the $200 charge (ahem, I make my money the honest way and am sure he pocketed $200 cash instead of reporting it as income - hi, tax evasion and theft!) because I didnt trust my money would be collected righteously. How did this happen? My car was in the Shadyside Arhaus parking lot with 8 other cars after Arhaus was closed. It was around 9pm and there was a gigantic black Cadillac SUV parallel parked at the entry way. In the past, this lot has had signs indicating its a lot for Casbah/Mad Mex at night so when I went to Casbah for my birthday dinner treat by myself I thought nothing of it. I was gone for around an hour and came back to find the Cadillac was there but none of the other cars. (Others have mentioned they feel decoy cars are in the lot they frequent - I strongly agree). Thats when I found the towing sign and called. They said I owed them $200 cash and had to be there by midnight to get my car because they cant take credit cards until 9am the next day. Their location is in a sketchy part of Hazelwood near the bridge underpass, which is a far cry from Shadyside. They said I should take an Uber/Lyft in addition to the $200 ransom they asked for. As a young woman, this was downright startling. I arrived to collect my car and ask that they take a credit card or allow leniency on the $200 cash charge because it was an honest mistake. Fred was downright rude - immediately - 0 to 300 without any hesitation. Im sure multiple people give sob stories but there was free valet parking (with a suggested tip) right next door to this lot from the restaurant I was eating at. I had the receipt to prove it. If I had known this was a towing zone, I wouldnt have parked there and would have used valet instead. Be careful when you see Howards Towing signs anywhere - youll deal with a team of hillbillies who want $200 cash and have no etiquette to speak to you properly. Im certain theyll go bankrupt or get raided by the IRS in the near future, and Pittsburgh will be a better place for it.
It was a great experience with Fred Casto, who was very professional and quick to respond to all our needs. Ill always keeps his card if I ever need these services.
Predatory towing company. Needs to be shut down immediately.
Aggressive predatory towing company. Towing trucks lied hiding with employee watched for naive preys. They went in and hunted susceptible Pittsburgh residents within minutes that they left their cars, and charged people an nasty 200$ to get back the vehicles. The citys ordinance limited the amount to 135$. Multiple class action lawsuits are being filed against them.
Jesse was amazing! Great attitude, easy service! Highly reccomend howards towing!
These ppl are the worst ppl in the face of the earth.... they stalk parking lots and tow your car before you even have a chance to go in and out of a shop. I would never go into any of those properties or businesses in the east liberty/ shadyside again. Way to support local shopping...:(
I broke down on the parkway. I called one company and got no response. The next call I made was to Howards. Fred answered the phone immediately. Fred was very professional and kind to me. He was there within 20 mins. I highly recommend Howards Towing. I give them ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Arrived within 15 minutes of call; Polite employee; Reasonable price; Highly recommended
Howard and his crew are professional, reliable and fair with their customers. Howard takes pride in his work and enjoys creating a good repore with his customers. I highly reccomend them for any towing/recovery needs.
Complete trash. I work as a busser one block from where they towed me, a parking garge which is only for customers near that area, i make nothing in pay and park there to save on money. They watched me park, walk to work, then towed me. They wanted 200$ in cash which i didnt have have but my friend did. I now spent half my monthly pay check to get my car. They are garbage!
The customer representative is very rude who hung up my phone call. I has been waiting for more than an hours before the towing truck driver showed up and gave me my car back. Worst experience in my entire life. Stay away from this company
John from howards towing saved my life yesterday. I ran to the get go on Baum blvd. and of course locked my keys and phone in my car. Finally someone let me use their phone to look up a tow company and this was the first one to poped up. I on top of everything only had limited cash on me I was almost in tears when he said it was going to 45 dollars but he still came and helped me even though I didnt have that much. He was also their within 5-10 minutes of me calling! I highly recommend this towing company and John for being so kind and helping me out! ONE MILLION TIMES, THANK YOU JOHN!!!!!!
What can I say Howards towing is the best they have helped me out on many occasions lately and JESSIE is outstanding came to my rescue today at a moments notice
Excellent customer service and the drivers were friendly, helpful, and professional. I highly recommend and would contact them again if anything were to come up.
Howards Towing, Tag Towing, & MSV Towing practice predatory towing & price gouging. If you have to deal with on of these companies then take a police officer with you. Or contact the Pittsburgh Police Auto Squad first. These three companies have been repeatedly featured on the local news for their thievery. Google predatory towing Pittsburgh & see what pops up.
Unpleasant experience! I drive for Uber and I will admit that I did park in a spot where it is a leased spot. There was a sign that I didnt see bc I had to pee real bad and missed the sign. Sorry, Im human. My bad!! I always park at that gas station and walk across the street to the hotel to use the bathroom bc the gas station doesnt have one and not once ever had an issue parking there. There were cars parked next to me also when I parked. I walked to hotel, used the bathroom and read a pamphlet at the hotel. Wasnt but 5 minutes or so. Came out and the tow truck was backing up to my car from the side to move it away from the curb. I came out and asked them why they were towing my car and they pointed to the sign. I was like, sorry I didnt see the sign Ill move it right now. Dude automatically snapped off and said you can pay $110 drop fee or we can tow it to the shop and it will be $200. I said, drop fee? Its not even hooked up. He proceeded to argue with me and I called the cops. When I was on the phone with the police, a different tow truck pulled up and started hooking my car up from the back. My car was not hooked up and in the air when I first arrived from the bathroom but it sure did get hooked up real quick before the cops got there. So I had no choice to pay either a $110 drop fee or $200 if it got towed to their shop. Thank you Howard Towing for stealing my hard earned money and charging me a drop fee when there was no car to drop from any of your trucks upon my arrival on the scene. But they sure did make sure it was in the air by the time the police arrived. Pretty sad that the officer and the employee at the gas station agreed with me but I still had to pay. Your employees showed me no respect nor dignity. They could of very very easily of said to me, you cant park here next time bc it is in a tow zone. I would of shook their hand, and said thank you and it wont happen again and we all could of been on our merry way. But nope, they chose the ignorant, classless rout. Friggin crooks!!
Got stuck in the middle of the a intersection with no way to move my car. I had no wallet, no phone, nothing. They came and towed me back home. And even worked something out with me given my current situation. Those guys really saved my ass. I couldnt thank them enough.
0 star, if i can. Shabby business, mean people. Stay away!
Not even one other towing company in or near Pittsburgh can even come close to comparing to Howards Towing. They are truly the best folks in the industry. Knowledgable, friendly, professional, courteous, helpful, and they even have a great sense of humor. Seriously folks, if you do not want to be ripped of or taken advantage of, call Howards. They really are the best.
There all about money no compromising or sympathy at all for people.
Horrible service. Save your time and call another tow company. Took 4 hours for them to tell me there was traffic. Google maps say there is no traffic. waste of a business
A run down, dirty shack of a place with the most unfriendly service youll find anywhere. Theyre cash only so come prepared.
Went there twice, great service! The price was great and they only did the service that was needed.
Great place and great people
They got an illegally parked car out of our tiny jammed full off street parking lot. Very skilled, I was impressed.
Came fast was very nice n reasonable I would call anytime
They are just towing for stealing the money from public. The owner and the lady there are too rude (misbehaving people). I found some of the stuff missing from my car. So they are not stealing the public money only, also the stuff from vehicle.
