Twice we have come in with a quote from a dealership and they do the same work at Back to Basic but charge a much lower price, and even better.... they will tell you when you dont even need the service that the dealership is recommending. Trust means everything, and these guys have totally earned our business forever!

These guys are awesome! They are super nice and trustworthy. The prices are good and they always make me feel welcome and supported. And they’ll talk things out with me and explain pros and cons before making a decision.

I highly recommend this company. ESPECIALLY, if you dont know anything about cars and costs. My Honda fit needed a new Cadillac converter, which would have cost around 2,300. Dave offered another solution to weld a different one for 600.00. I so appreciate this option, as its a 2007 and I didnt have to stress about investing more money or purchase a new car.

This mechanic is amazing! They are thorough and kind. They treated me with respect that I rarely get at other car places being a 25 year old woman. They were fair and explained everything completely so I could learn and understand. They were timely and communicative and were able to answer all my questions promptly. I would strongly recommend this mechanic to anyone in the area or even further out than this area as they go above and beyond to do an excellent job and made sure I was safe and my car was at top standard and completely taken care of. As a business owner I always prefer to give 5 star reviews. But this time I am compelled to do the opposite. After explicitly stating that I wanted all genuine Ford parts used in repairs to my Ford truck, and after getting confirmation from this company that they would do so, I had a massive oil leak from an after market oil cap that apparently couldnt handle the pressure it was under (that cost me $105 to have it towed back to the shop so that they could put in ANOTHER aftermarket cap). After discovering this second after market cap I just went to Ford myself and bought a new oil filter cap and Ford oil filter. I also had to replace, after just 13,000 miles, an alternator (apparently built in some local mechanics garage as it was UNLABELLED) that this company had put onto my truck (that cost me another $115 to have it towed to a new mechanic). These are nice guys but, if you ask for genuine parts, be sure to get the old ones that were removed and get confirmation and photos of the new parts going in.

I accidentally ran across this shop in yelp bc I was trying to find a really good trustworthy body shop instead of a dealership that rips you off and knows not what theyre doing! I have been using this body shop for several years now. There are like 4 main guys who run this place with several guys underneath them. What I appreciate most about this place is their honesty, but they are knowledgeable and really nice. They wont repair anything without discussing the issue first, this way you have an option. They dont have a payment plan, but they will work with you. I am so glad that I found this place and I highly recommend them . Give them a call and chat. You wont be disappointed! Oh yes they just expanded their shop and are remodeling, but they have a couple cool vintage cars inside 👍🚗

I have been going to this place for years and they have never let me down or some anything to my vehicles that didnt need it. The owner is a great guy as are the other guys in the office. I know I can always count on them to take care of my needs and trust them enough to take a car to them that I am considering purchasing and they will give it a once over and a honest opinion. Prices are very reasonable and like I said they wont do anything you dont want or need them to do.

Great repair shop, probably a little (just a little) more expensive than most, but extremely dependable. Ive never had them BS me or fix something that didnt need to be fixed. They tell you the pricing up front and call you if something changes before fixing it. Ive been going here for several years and will continue to use them. Highly recommended!

I had the best first timer experience here. Came in worried I was looking at a high ticket with all my concerns and I came out with $145 payment and what seems like a brand-new running vehicle. The staff was extremely honest and responsive, anytime I called the phone was answered and mosr importantly they took the time to explain any issues that can be taken care off later on with no pressure...

FINALLY, AN HONEST AUTO REPAIR SHOP! I took my car to the Sun Devil Auto at 8919 E. San Victor in Scottsdale and they told my I needed at least $2500.00 worth of repairs. I subsequently took it to Back to Basic and they repaired it for $126.00!!!The facts are as follows: I am a single woman in her sixties on a fixed income. I took my car into Sun Devil Auto on October 5, 2018 for regular maintenance. I also told them to check the alignment because I had smacked a curb on the passenger side while driving. They later called me and said the frame was damaged along with the radiator core support, and it would cost a minimum of $2500.00 to repair, and maybe more depending on what else they found. I had them repeat it because I was so shocked. They told me I might want to check with my insurance company regarding payment. I had them do the regular maintenance and picked up the car. I asked if it was driveable and they said yes, but not for long distances.I then took the car to Back to Basics, the auto shop that I used when I worked downtown at the Attorney General’s office. I asked them just to check the frame because I had smacked it on a curb. They later called me up and said I had bent a small piece of metal that I didn’t need, and everything else they could put back in place for $126.00. When I picked up the car, I asked whether it would be readily apparent if the frame and radiator core support had been damaged. They said it would be. I then told them what Sun Devil Auto had said and what they attempted to charge me and they were shocked as well.I went to Sun Devil Auto based on the glowing reviews I read here, so I wanted to warn people that they are not an honest shop and let people know that Dave and his crew at Back to Basic are!!!

Great Service Great Pricing, & That aint no Bull! I went there, had a general idea of what my Jeep needed, they checked it out; found 3 other issues, and asked me what i wanted to take care of. No pressure ; no up selling; just genuine service. A week later, i take in my cavalier, thinking something was wrong with it, they checked it out couldnt find a thing wrong, idk what happened, but they didnt charge me to take a look and they just sent me on my way. Ive never been some place i didnt feel swindled or as if they had any tricks of their sleeves, just Good, honest hard working folks. Be prepared to drop off the car, but youre in safe and trusted hands. without a doubt.

I had my BMW in for service today and they charged less than half of what Chapman quoted me. The owner and his staff all seem like upstanding genuine people so I plan on coming back for future service. Ill admit I was skeptical about going to a non dealer to have service done but this place seems reliable.
