Toni and crew are amazing! We didnt just go down and pick a dog based on looks, etc. Toni knew and understood my familys needs and made recommendations based on our activity level, experience with large dogs, etc.Dexter is an amazing addition to our family and a perfect fit. He and I run together but at the same time he is just as happy to be calm and snuggle with my kids... its a perfect fit.We gladly donate to the rescue as often as we can and take advantage of their boarding service when we go out of town, I trust SHR completely!

This a great local shelter that specializes with large breed dogs. I have been volunteering for this shelter for a little over a month now and absolutely love it!! The other workers/volunteers are wonder people and we all care about the dogs and getting them into forever homes. Best part? Being with these wonderful and sweet dogs, getting to walk them and give them some love and training. Check them out of your looking to adopt, volunteer or donate!

If you live in an apartment do not bother applying as you will not be approved. It is heart breaking to see how many dogs are in need of a home yet they make it very difficult.I understand where they come from but a big home with a backyard doesnt mean a guaranteed good loving home all the time. I know many dog owners with a big backyard that neglect their pets.We all know what kind of pet owners we are, and I believe my partner and I are great we love and care every pet we have had and have like family. We see our current dog as our child. We were ready to open our hearts and home to an Aussie dog in their system but were denied because we live in an apartment. How do they not know my apartment is a bug one? I might not have your ideal backyard but that dog would have been out on our daily hikes to Papago park, our summer camping adventure, etc. Would have been so loved. A yard shouldnt define a pet owners capability of caring for one. I am truly heart broken as this particular dog I applied for had won me over by reading his story. His previous pet owners adopted him from this agency yet still returned him; a yard doesnt define a good pet owner. Might not be 100% the ideal situation but a loving owner that will make sure he is happy is better than having him at an adoption center.

We tried to give this beautiful boy Bernard a wonderful home. Sadly, we were rejected because we dont have a fenced yard, just a large dog run. We walk 5 miles a day, we take training seriously, we go camping, fishing, and do tons of activities with our fur babies. We live in a rural area on six acres, and we always only rescue. We dont ever even leave our dog outside in the run unattended. This sweet boy will now have to stay in shelter and wait instead of joining a family entirely ready to love him with a forever home. Even after pleading with Toni, who promised to call me, we didnt hear back from her. We are going to Mexico to Barbs Dog Rescue next week where we hope our rescue adoption will be better accomodated.It breaks my heart that he is stuck in shelter instead of a loving forever home.

Would highly recommend that if you are looking to adopt, you check them out first. They do vet checks, rehabilitation, fixing and behavioral screening.

I called them when a stray had been running around my neighborhood for 2 days. I got their voicemail which said that if you were surrendering your personal pet or to report a stray, dont leave a message because we dont take either. Well, Im just curious, whats left? Extremely disappointing for a company with rescue in their name.

I took a friend here to meet up with a mobile pet dental clinic, let me tell you the passion and love these volunteer vets and clinical personal have for animals its nothing short of a aw inspiring. They helped in so many ways, but most of all afforded my friend an opportunity to give his pet companion a new lease on life. Thank you SHR and the volunteers who work miracle for those we love unconditionally.

Toni and her staff are wonderful! The facility is very well organized and clean. They are there for the dogs and really do their due diligence before adopting out to anyone. We just added a member to our family and she is incredible.🥰🥰

Its close to the house, but some larger dogs are a bit rambunctious. Also, parents are disrespectful in not cleaning up after their kids.

We just adopted the sweetest Lab/Retriever mix from Stealing Hearts. Our pup is amazing and it is all thanks to Toni at Stealing Hearts. She is awesome. You can tell how passionate she is about ensuring that her dogs go to good homes. The facility is beautiful as well. We would highly recommend Stealing Hearts if you are looking for a four legged addition to your family❤️Update: we adopted a second pup from Stealing Hearts and I cant say enough wonderful things about Toni. I have never met someone so passionate about the long term care of every dog that leaves the facility. She is so amazing even after you leave. I came to find out from the brief conversation I had with a lady that answered the phone, this place is more like an adoption facility. The name leads one to believe they take in dogs. They only take them from county. I dont want to, but I have to surrender my dog Katy. Shes a sweet girl with some issues, one of them being luxating patelas, the other bladder leakage from being spayed too young. I have to surrender her to county first and hope this place takes her. Shell never make it out of county thanks for nothing

Stealing Hearts Rescue is extremely easy to work with in finding the perfect dog for your family! Toni is extremely knowledgeable and is great at helping families find the right dog for their home situations. We have had our lab/retriever mix for five months and he has been a perfect addition to our family!

Amazing Rescue and Volunteers. All 3 of our dogs came from this organizarion. Toni, the founder, puts her heart and soul into each dog she cares for before adoption.

So there name reads Rescue in it but when you call they sound so rude with no Heart...my husbands boss found a pit and I gave Stealing Hearts Rescue and call for some info but after that recording I was like oh my.

I stopped in around Easter time and brought the hounds some goodies. This facility is super clean, tue staff is amazing and all the dogs are very well taken care of. There is a really nice play area out back where you can become acquainted with a dog when considering adoption. Also, there is some awesome art if you happen to gaze upon the walls. If you have the space in your life for a dog, i always recommend rescue, you will save a life and enrich your own. This is a big dog rescue and you can find your loveable bully breeds here and the staff works with all of them making sure they are well adjusted and will fit right into that space in your life.

I adopted a puppy from SHR (before they were officially SHR) and later fostered for them. They are an amazing rescue that focuses on hard to place dogs by giving the dogs a safe place to be dogs and be loved while waiting for their forever family. Toni takes time to ensure family/dogs are a good match for each other. She has a special talent for matching people and dogs. These dogs deserve that! Highly recommend!

While I admire any rescue that attempts to adopt out dogs (which is the one and only reason Im giving this two stars instead of one), I would recommend people look at other shelters/rescues to adopt. The owner of this one is incredibly rude and is discriminatory against adopters even if they have amazing references and a great, long, and successful track record of owning many different breeds of dogs. I find it very sad because if she wasnt this way, she would surely adopt out many more dogs than the rescue is right now. Reminder that the Maricopa county shelter has around 500 dogs waiting for a home. If she adopted out more we *would* save more dogs. I hope she becomes a better person and improves her adoption process in the future. Note: Im not suggesting she adopt to just anyone. But her thought process behind what exactly every single adopter needs is pretty harmful for the dogs in her rescue. If you can, try to adopt elsewhere and give money to rescues who will use it to save more dogs.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Stealing Hearts. We have adopted two wonderful dogs from Toni and she even helped us with our sisters dog when we needed a place for him to stay. If you are even thinking about adopting a larger breed and making them your furever...you will not go wrong with adopting from this agency!

I went to pets smart with my husband to a pet adoption event that they held and was so upset with the way we were treated. We were really interested in adopting one of their puppies and the moment we told her we lived in an apartment her hold demeanor changed to super bitchy and like we were low class just because we wanted to have a dog in an apartment. Our apartment is large and we have a dog park I just don’t understand this. She was like um no I can’t let you guys adopt any of these dogs because you live in an apartment sorry bye. Like damn the attitude on this lady after that Really upset me.
