Great place to learn Judo. Your skills will improve and you will get in great shape. I would recommend Alla to anyone who wants to get better at Judo (and grappling in general). Personally he’s a great guy and thinks/cares for his students a great deal. You can’t go wrong training with Alaa

Fun, full of experts, and a place to learn and share! I am a former Olympic athlete, and I get great competition, but at the same time I’m able to learn and fine-tune my basic skills. This is the best dojo which has solid leader ship and sound teaching. Your family, kids, mind, body will love it!

Sensei El Idrissi is a great coach. He has a knack for breaking down the techniques I find difficult to find in other coaches. The way he breaks down the class helps my body warm-up to what we are working on for the day to help prevent injuries to myself and my partners. From a beginner standpoint, the slow progression of a technique from its initial steps to the actual execution also help build muscle memory. I also enjoy the deep dives into techniques that go beyond just the basic version and help me learn how to execute the techniques on a resisting partner.

Sensei Alaa is a great coach and a friend, we became friends the first day i joined his academy, i had zero knowledge about Judo and he made it look and sound so easy.I also love the private session and i feel like I’m home working out with my buddy.El idrissi Judo academy is a judgement free zone, trust me, I’ve made the right decision by joining this gym.

Best place to train you could ever hope to find. From the moment I contacted Sensei Alaa he made me feel completely at home at his gym. He is extremely attentive to each and every student and is constantly giving everyone corrections to improve their judo. I cant stress how important it is to feel like youre learning every class, and I cant think of a single class where Sensei Alaa hasnt given me advice or helped me improve.Every gym has a culture and its clear from the way the students act that Sensei Alaa wants that culture to be family oriented and accepting. Any time I had a question about a technique or just wanted to talk, hes always been able to help. There is a definite family atmosphere that makes going there a real joy.I also want to point out that in the time of COVID, Sensei Alaa makes sure everyone is careful and wears masks. Additionally, he always has masks at the gym and takes the safety of his students very seriously.Honestly, the only regret I have is that I wish I had found this place sooner! Cant recommend it enough.

Came in for the 6:45am Judo class today now that gyms are reopened. The class size was decent (especially for a 6:45am class) and everyone wore there mask (I am in the healthcare field and appreciate when people take Covid precautions seriously.) This Dojo has a great atmosphere and location. The location is great for me since I live in Manayunk and I have never had any issues with parking.I am new to martial arts and the way Sensei Alaa El Idrissi explains everything and breaks down the basics is great and appreciative. He could tell what was clicking and not clicking and made adjustments accordingly. I could not recommend this Sensei and this Dojo more. I look forward to taking more classes.

I give this place 5 stars because of many reasons!First, I love how welcoming Sensei El Idrissi was, from how he made me feel right at home to how great his instruction is. He’s an extremely knowledgeable but yet very humble man who truly has a passion for Judo and really wants to see his students to succeed. The way he breaks things down step by step, explains each move to you, and the purpose of each movement, really gives you an in-depth understanding of not only how to do the movements but why it should be done that way as well. You can tell he really cares and really wants to see you improve, there’s not many instructors that have this level of care for their students like he does 💯.Second, is the dojo and it’s location:The Dojo itself is kept very clean, has a shower, a changing room, an upstairs where there’s a lounge area and also has a workout room for strength & conditioning! The location itself is in a very nice area of town and very easy to find parking around the dojo as well. Also a very easy drive too, I come from Port Richmond which is about a 35min drive, but definitely worth it!Also, if you’re not taking a car there’s a train station that happens to be up the block from where the dojo is, so getting here isn’t an issue at all.Overall this has been one of the best experiences I’ve had compared to other gyms I’ve been to and for sure encourage anyone who’s thinking about learning Judo to come give this place a try, TRUST ME you won’t regret it 💯

I have had the most amazing experience benefiting from Alaa’s coaching at El Idrissi Strength Dojo. Aside from being a world class athlete and competitor, Alaa personalizes his instruction to meet the specific needs of his students. Alaa’s gift goes beyond top notch instruction such as through developing character, confidence, building relationships, fostering respect within oneself and others, and embracing the spirit of martial art. The facility itself is beautiful, clean, spacious, welcoming, and a great fit regardless of age or skill level. Alaa and Kristin create a warm and welcoming environment, and I highly recommend this facility for anyone interested in bettering oneself or one’s family in so many amazing ways. Check out El Idrissi Strength Dojo!

A great judo dojo for both beginners and black belts. Philly is so lucky to have this club in their backyard.Alaa and Kristin El Idrissi run a very welcoming dojo and offer both kids and adults classes for beginners and advanced students. Alaa, the head coach, is a high level judo player and competes internationally but is also a dedicated coach. He and Kristin understand the difference between coaching beginners vs black belts, and everyone, regardless if knowledge and experience in judo is welcome and safe in their dojo.If youre interested to know what the classes are like:1. Families welcome: Alaa and Kristen have quite a few families training together on the mat.2. Adults welcome: Adult students have a dedicated class and adults of all levels, from beginner to black belt, are on the mat for every class.3. Youll get in shape! : The classes are fast paced and fun and Alaa helps his students grow athletically as well as in judo knowledge. That said, no one is pushed beyond their limits. All the coaches know how to work with students of all levels to develop their fitness.4. Great place to cross train: Alaa and Kristin also have experience in brazilian jiujitsu and wrestling and can adapt their judo knowledge to help you reach your goals in BJJ or on the wrestling mat.5. The new location on Sprague street has a weight gym as well.
