Best pizza deal you will find in Philly. Cheese slice goes for $1.25 (50 cents for toppings). You will also have an option to buy a slice for the homeless. I asked the owner and he says slices get handed out around 11pm every night to the homeless around Philly, around 50-100 slices. The pizza is incredibly tasty and on par with anything else you will find in Philly. A can of soda is $1.50, Powerade $3 and water $1. They also have a deal where its a slice with one topping, a salad, and a water for $5. We went here several times during our stay in Philly. Great for a quick snack. They are open pretty late on Friday and Saturday night as well. Lots of encouraging post it notes everywhere as well which were fun to read.
Really great-tasting pizza at a place trying to help others. Thin and tasty slices that are great for a snack. Cheese slices are $1.25 but if you want to donate slices theyre still just $1. If you donate slices, you can add a personal message along with the order too. There are also post-it notes all around the restaurant of things people from all over have written which adds a unique touch.
A favorite spot for quality pizza. Food was so delish. I had a brother come into town and he asked me to go back here. Prices that are reasonable.
Pizza was just okay. . Nice people. But nothing special in my opinion. Prices are definitely very cheap.
Really nice prices for big slices of crispy pizza. A lot of working folks and homeless stop here for the reasonably priced fare. I would definitely come again.
Heard so much about the place on FB and I just had to visit on our holiday here. I contributed a few pizzas for anyone in need of one. The owners are doing a good thing and we should all pay it forward. The pizzas were pretty good by the way. With love... from Singapore.
Awesome! Its priceless how you feel when walking in there then reading the wall. He to fight back tears. Some still escaped. As a now homeless woman after neighbour in my own for 23 yrs. Owning my own home for 14 years. It made my hope and faith even stronger. Blessed. You dont always feel the love of the world when going through life transitions. The food was great as well. You can not lose one way or another. Thanking GOD for this owner and the volunteers.
The recent reviews are fake. This business has been closed for over a year. I am part-owner of the building.
Awesome place and friendly employees! Awesome pizza that is insanely cheap. Best of all, they give back to their community by feeding pizza to the homeless. A little action with a huge positive impact. I love reading the sticking notes on the wall every time I go there. Rosas is the best!
Excellent place for tasty Pizza. Service is always prompt even when they have a full house. Looking forward to returning with my coworkers. The bill was fair I would say. Atmosphere and food reminds me of Virginia Beach.
Pizza and the feeling at this spot is excellent. I love this place, excellent food & service. Certainly worth a return trip. This place has a nice atmosphere. Reminds me of a cafe in Chicago I loved to visit.
Though Im far away from Philly, Im gonna miss Rosas dearly. A friend and I had stopped by while visiting Philly to walk around the neighborhoods. Service was efficient and the pizza was fresh. We even bought some for the homeless folks. By the end of it, we must have bought like 5 slices altogether. Fantastic place, wish the best for everyone who worked here ♥
Thank you for making great pizza but most importantly for giving me hope, faith that good people still exist and showing extreme kindness and generosity during a very difficult time for me... Youre one of many that Ive been so graciously came into contact with. You keep so many of us holding on. Thank you - someone raised you more then right, youre human, thats a rarity and has truly made for a beyond beautiful being. ⭐💙⭐
Great service and food. Very flexible with customizing specialty pizzas, and bringing sauces. The atmosphere was cool and the way they treat their customer was also appreciable. Overall good place
This is amazing. Support support support.
Love love love this place. Slices are terrific. Round slice pie can feel a little played out since there is a plethora of good choices, but this slice is great. Love the sauce. Plus you can pay it forward and buy a slice or more for a homeless person. So go have a delicious slice and help someone else have a meal. Cheapest slice around. Buy one - donate one!! Be a good human go do it.
Nice people and just as good pizza. I really enjoyed my time coming here before I had to move. If I get back into town I will definitely have a slice or two. The cheese is what makes this pizza so good. The sauce is pretty darn good but Ive got to give it to the cheese. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.
Outstanding location for quality pizza. Prices are appropriate. They have a lot of good reviews for a reason.
Pizza and the scene at this place is great. Dont fret if its busy, it is worth the wait. It has a cool interior.
Pizza, yeah, excellent. Service is excellent even when they are busy. The service was sociable and attentive. Prices are fair.
The best pizza you can get in Philadelphia. The slices are cheap, menu is simple, and any donations go to an amazing cause. Best part about Rosas, too, is that even if you manage to have some slices left over, they taste just as amazing cold as they do fresh. If you only have time to eat at one place in Center City, please go to Rosas (and get an extra pie to go)!
The pizza is delicious....many options of toppings and combinations, the crust is crispy, not overly greasy...everything is great. We had a fantastic waitress that delivered some of the best service Ive had in a long time. And...the atmosphere is great.
Pizza is pizza... but this place is so much more. Their mission & the people they serve make it something amazing! I got there right at 11 & was able to sit & talk with some of the homeless that Rosas feeds. It was simply amazing to have real, genuine, human interactions. I loved it! I will certainly be back!
There’s no denying that Rosa’s Fresh does meaningful social work in helping feed Philly’s homeless (5 stars!), however, these reviews are about the product, and the pizza here is average (3 stars). There’s nothing particularly flavorful or special about the pizza and in the case of the white it was heavily seasoned with black pepper overpowering the taste of the oil and even the garlic! The actual establishment reminded me of a human-centered design think tank with all of the post-its plastered on the wall with many kind thank yous from the area homeless and warm wishes from patrons. So, you come here not because of the pizza but because you want to do good by others. That alone makes Rosa’s a worthy place to spend your money.
Their pizza really is good. The staff is very friendly. Atmosphere great.. all the 5 star stuff...but most importantly They do such great thing in the community, they feed the homeless everyday twice a day.It doesnt matter how many homeless people there are everyone gets two slices. They are always in need of donations, no amount is to small, especially for what they do.It should be noted They were on the Ellen show and Dr Oz.Our community thanks you..
A fav spot for delicious Pizza. Its so delicious. Had a friend come into town and asked me to take him here again.
This place provides for the homeless... respect
As far as dollar slices go this place is decent. The sauce and cheese is good but the crust leaves a lot to be desired. Cant hold a candle to New York dollar slice joints. However, what this place has going for it is that you can pay extra to donate towards free pizza for the homeless. Anyone who is homeless is allowed to come in and get a free slice which is pretty cool especially since there is a pretty sizable homeless community in Philadelphia.
I love the pay it forward idea that this pizza shop started. I think that is amazing!!
Their pizza is good. They do such great thing in the community, they feed the homeless everyday twice a day. It doesnt matter how many people there are everyone gets two slices. They are always in need of donations,no amount is to small, especially for what they do. They were also on the Ellen show and Dr Oz.
Actually, the pizza isnt bad. Ive had better, but for a buck a slice its pretty good. Fresh, decent crust and I didnt feel like crap after I ate it (& I ate three slices!). Not greasy at all. I also like the buy a slice for the homeless thing too. Some cynics have said that its nothing but a marketing ploy but I disagree. Some folks who were down on their luck came in and were treated with respect. Its a great idea. Stop in and check it out.
I discovered this place on a whim. Im glad I did. I was surprised how good their pizza is! I had to get one of their shirts. Was a pleasant vibe, with good music playing and the sticky notes with all the positive messages. It was a great experience.
Is there ever was Four Star Pizza at its best this would be the place for you to go I found the pizza sauce as fresh as can be. And you can tell that they use the best of the freshest ingredients around town! Once you give him a try youll realize youll be going back without even thinking about it!!!
Nice mom and pop pizza.. Great service and they take donations ($1) to help feed the homeless. If you look at the picture, a homeless person can walk in grab a sticky note to receive that slice of pizza that some one has donated. Oh and the pizza was really good.
This place was awesome... Helped to feed the homeless and had great tasting affordable slices
Rosas fresh is pizza with purpose. The pay-it-forward system they have allows you to buy a slice for someone in need who needs to eat and cant afford it. The prices are up slightly however. Theyre no longer $1 slices and are up to $1.25, which is still half of what you can expect to pay anywhere else. Rosas doesnt have the perfect slice, but factoring in their mission and price point you cant go wrong eating here.
When visiting Philly, I searched for pizza places near the area. They came up and I had forgotten they came out on the Ellen Show. I love the fact that for a dollar I can donate a slice for the homeless. Out all the options I had I took a chance because of there cause. However there pizza is absolutely amazing! I was happy with the choice I made and anytime I am in Philly, I will be getting my pizza from here.
This review is for the thin crust only. My partner does not like deep dish so we opted for the thin crust. The crust was delicious. We also ordered the brocallini which was good, but Ive had better. The pizza here is great, and we found a great malbec on the wine list. We would definitely eat here again if in the area
If youre looking for a new experience, this is a great one. Reading all the different post-it messages is nice and the pizza itself is surprisingly good for what you pay for. Its not necessarily 5 star pizza, but if youre going here for that alone Id say youre missing out on so much more than that.Pizza tastes so much better when youre paying it forward at the same time.
Good pizza. Fun servers. Fun music. And generosity. Everyone should come here even if you dont like pizza. Give to those in need. Donate a slice, or 10.
Quaint little pizza place that you get to pay it forward slices for the homeless..i absolutely love THIS concept.!! Sweet heartfelt staff..with a amazing REAL PIZZA. Just 4 blocks from our hotel.♡♡walking under the umbrella holding hands.NOTHING LIKE NETFLIX AND A GREAT PIZZA ON A RAINING EVENING @ THE HOTEL W...THE P in CRIME.💙💙💙
Pizza was fresh, service was friendly. Rosas Pay It Forward program is admirable. They allow customers the opportunity to donate money that goes toward pizza for the homeless. If youre in the area and youre not hungry, its still worth popping in to see the thousands of posted stickers plastered on the wall with inspirational stories and well wishes.
Great pizza. Wonderful way to give back
Really great pizza, perfectly portioned at $1/slice. Even the crust is tasty without all the mystery junk the chains put on theirs. Masons pizza is really made fresh from his family recipe. Dont visit Philadelphia without stopping by. Get 2 slices, a can of soda, and donate 2 slices for the same $5 spent elsewhere.
Pizza and the feeling at this spot is excellent. everyone at our table was glad to be there. it has a good interior.
You get to buy pizza for the homeless !!! How great is that!!! Seen this owner on Ellen Degenerous show and had to go !!! Pizza is great ! I just hope that they treat the homeless how they treat the paying customers 💖💖💖 plus you get to put sticky notes of life aspirations for everyone to see !
The place is closed.
Right up front...probably 3.5 stars for the pizza. Its good but not great, and Im not a real fan of east coast style pizza. The rest of the 5 stars are for their practice of letting customers buy deferred slices for the homeless at $1/slice. The cynical person could say sure, they let someone else pay for a slice of pizza...no skin off their nose. But....that means that Rosas is writing off about $2/slice with this practice. They dont need the kudos from me...I mean, theyve been on Ellen because of their practice, but still. Good job, Rosas!
What a great business plan. Hes ahead of the game, he gets good publicity, and some less fortunate people can eat too. Its a win win win! Great job!
First off, the pie is good! I like a crisp thin crust and the owner, Mason, popped the 3 slices back in the oven to bake them to a delicious crispness. You have 4 types of pie, plain, sausage, pepperoni, and mushroom. So the choices are easy. The other thing I really like is that I can help someone who is hungry get something to eat. Because Rosas used the extra dollar I paid to feed someone, I can trust that the money really fed a person and who didnt use it to buy booze or drugs. Ive had the experience of buying a bunch of sandwiches for a hungry homeless person, only to have him turn around and sell it for cash before I was 5 steps away.
Excellent pizza. Very friendly staff. Ill go back definitely.
Great place with a great concept. Small but friendly. Buy a slice for yourself and buy an extra for a person in need. A little dirty, thats why only 4 stars.
Great pizza and I love how they focus on helping the homeless—donation style of serving is amazing. Go here to get some great pizza and also make a small difference in someone else’s life!
What an amazing place! Rosa’s offers free pizza to those in need. We learned about Rosa’s from the book Mitzvah Pizza and it was awesome seeing the book come to life. Pizza is ok
Rosas Fresh Pizza is a GOD send to the homeless community. Their slices are only $1, and if you want topping, its only 50 cents more. They are able to feed the homeless if you pay and extra $1. Please help out Rosas, because when you help them out. you will be helping out the community.
Very good hole-in-the-wall pizza place that has a great business model of giving back to the community. Love the positive messages on the walls too!
Very welcoming place and I love that you can donate to feed the homeless that they serve.
Excellent pizza cheap friendly staff highly recommend had cheese and a margarita pizza.. it was wonderful
This place has a great mission and great pizza to boot. Very affordable and tasty pizza that has a good ratio of sauce to cheese.
The pizza was ok, but I got food poisoning. It must have been sitting out all day. The crust was thin and there was very little sauce. The cheese they used was good.
Terrible customer service. I bought 2 slices and right when I left the store, the wind suddenly blew one of the slices to the ground. I went back in with the fallen slice to ask for a replacement but they refused to replace the slice. Any other place would have replaced it, no questions asked.Owners response:HAHAHAHA. Who was holding the food? You were in the open air in planet earth, where wind is a well-established phenomenon. You should haven been well prepared for it.
It was very good and Im happy to see some giving back to the community..great job Rosas staff
Great service - including on the phone and delivery service. The product was delicious too! Especially the Roman pizza ....
I havent been here yet. I will def make a visit when in Philly. Thank you for feeding the homeless. This makes my heart very happy.
Hopefully our experience was an aberration but our organization ordered 15 pies to be delivered after an entire morning of event setup. Pizza was delivered over an hour late and cups were forgotten for all the drinks which resulted in a grumpy fit of staff members. Although not expected, most businesses would consider it customary to offer anything extra they can to help tide over their mistakes, but Rosas decided to just get on their way.The pizza itself was not satisfactory. It definitely felt like we were eating dollar slice pizzas. I would say a step above the slices of cardboard little ceasars sell. Even considering how hungry I was after 6 hours of event setup, I would call the pizza bad.
This concept should spread to every community. Not only do I go out of my way to stop by, but they allow donations to be done online. Good people ... very, very good people.
Pretty good pizza. Their generosity towards the homeless is amazing.
This place is amazing!!! The pizza is good and the purpose is incredible! It feels so good to eat it knowing youre helping someone else. Cabrini University and I support Rosas!!!
The pizza is about average but the price and concept is great. Pizza costs $1 per slice but you can also pay ahead for someone that cant afford dinner. You will buy a post-it note and then later someone can take the post-it off the wall and get a free meal.
I ordered pizza from Rosa’s because of what they do for the homeless. One bite, and I was in pizza heaven! Delicious!
These guys deserve a lot of respect. Delicious pizza, and doing a fine job helping their community. We can all learn something from the good people at Rosas.
The best New York pizza Ive ever had in my life. Inexpensive, and they let you pay for others in advance while providing you the option to leave a custom note for the soul you bless with a slice.
For $1 a slice, you really cannot complain about the pizza - reminds me of the simple cheesy goodness of the pizza from places like Chuck E Cheese. Maybe Im making that comparison because there were about 50 4th graders crammed into Rosas when I went in there for lunch.Despite the average pizza, this place is unique - youre not just here for the pizza. Youre here to give back to those who cannot afford even the $1 slices. So when you pay for your pizza, give a couple of dollars (or whatever you can afford back to the cashier. For example, I got 2 slices, paid with a twenty, and asked for $15 back in change. And while youre there - post a fun little post-it note up on the wall! There are thousands up there to give you some ideas.
Serving great pizza and giving even more back to the community with an inspirational pay it forward program. God bless this company.
I have never had any pizza from Rosas. However, I was touched by the generosity of the people that have paid it forward to those that sometimes for whatever reason, come up short. So, I thank you on behalf of all of the people that were able to have something to eat.
Very cheap pizza and very good food, and its for a good cause, helping the homeless eat. I love it!
This place is the biggest scam in philly!! I worked here for 3 months in 2017 and we gave away Max 15 slices a day...This place makes more $$ from donations than from selling pizza. The craziest part is the owner brags about how he doesnt have to pay taxes on the donations...its a shame this place is tugging on the heart strings of people that actually care while the owner makes fun of how He feeds all the drug addicts...Such a scam artist!!
Wonderful place. They serve 2Free slice of pizza to the Homeless.Their gracious way of giving back.Everyday except Sunday🤣If ur hungry stop by and say Off the wall.
Delicious fresh pizza. Top Notch Service. Highly recommend.
Pizza was just sooo horrible! It definitely was burnt at the bottom and had no flavor. Just my humble opinion
This is a hole-in-the-wall place with great-tasting pizza and limited seating. A sign on the wall says they feed over 100 homeless people every day.
Real good. Jesus loves you
You get a large pizza for 8 bucks, it is what you pay for and honsetly some of the BEST pizza i ever had.I always buy 4 slices forward too
Tastes good. You can pay for those who cant. Cheap prices. Owner is an amazing person and conversates with you while your waiting.
I love the BBQ Chicken pizza with turkey bacon, cheese, herbs and that sauce! I love their cause!
Had a slice of pepperoni + pineapple with BBQ sauce which was divine.
Pizza is really good compared to most in Philly and the guys that work there are really cool I live on spruce so I stop there for a slice.
Always delicious fresh pizza, location is a short walk from PATCO, and prices are amazing. As if all that wasn’t awesome enough, you can pre-purchase slices for those in need too! Good for the tummy & good for the soul; Rosa’s is fantabulous
Really one of the best pizza places in Philly Id say #2 on my list next to Romas in Roxborough, than Lorenzos in South Philly, cheapest slices around thanks to Ellen DeGeneres and her donation along with customer donations that make it possible to sell cheap slices and feed the homeless for free a really great place with an amazing cause
Rosas was incredible food incredible environment this is one of the few places that supports the homeless of philly they are very kind and care for everyone incredible experience here for a kid coming from Dallas.
Ill start it right off by saying the pizza and service there is great. I love the pizza crust! I made a mistake when I ordered and they had now problem fixing it and even offered me a drink while I wait. I cant wait to go back.
That is one of the greatest places down Center City what you do when you go there pieces are a dollar a dollar and a quarter but the thing about the place you get to sign this paper and put your name on the bulletin board on the walls and the pizza place and then you buy a homeless person a slice of pizza so they can eat and for every slice of pizza that you buy they give a piece of pizza to the homeless people
Love love love this place. The pizza is always delicious and fresh. I reallu eboy theor sauce, plus you cant beat $1.25 for a slice....on top of that you can donate a slice to help feed the homeless. I bought 2 slices, donated 2 slices always and bought 2 bottles of water always split for $6.00.Even their merchandise helps feed the homeless. I bought a cool t-shirt for $25.00 and 10 slices of pizza got donated from that purchase!!! Thats a win for everyone. I hope everyone continues to support this place. There is nothing to dislike here. Staff is always friendly and no where else do you get to eat so cheaply but feel so good about it.
