Great gym. Clean with lots of equipment that you expect and some you don’t. Two Olympic power lifting platforms and lots of other quick squat racks. Cool stretching area. Good selection of food and drinks. Great place!

I just want to say CF has really done an amazing job of addressing all my concerns! CF is the best gym in Philadelphia by far! Richard the manager here is particularly helpful. And they have really done covid right! Vaccines required for entry. No mask required. Thank you!

City Fitness East Market has done an incredible job keeping the gym sanitized and safe during the pandemic. Everyone is very diligent about wearing masks and the equipment is wiped down by both members and gym staff very regularly. Guests are respectful of the dedicated timeslots and City Fitness has made it really easy to schedule your session on the app. Its great to feel so comfortable and confident working out at the gym even during a pandemic. And its definitely one of Phillys best gyms in general -- very well-kept equipment, friendly people, a beautiful open volume of space to work out in, and plenty of natural daylight.

Signed up for the membership, never once stepped foot in the gym, tried to cancel by chatting with Brandon I believe and they apparently cant cancel for me? What is this 2005? They obviously try to make as many hoops as possible for customers to cancel, pretty sketchy. Retro Fitness was super easy to cancel, they also use ABC Fitness, but had no issue manually canceling over the phone, one click of a button and BOOM canceled, City Fitness should take notes on this revolutionary cancellation technology. They should be able to easily afford it with the ~$450 I paid them in just 2 and a half months. Im sure the gyms fine, never been, just know you may have to work your tail off to leave

Super clean. Sign up slots arent the MOST convenient but I think most of us make do. Plenty of floorspace, super easy to keep a distance from others. Definitely more expensive than other options, but worth it if youre into the whole community I guess, I just want to use the sauna (RIP). Could use another power rack or two.

Great gym, lots of equipment, clean, great staff, and finally back to the pre-covid shutdown hours so I can go after my 3-11 shifts without shorting my workout and rushing in before work for a quick bit of cardio. I just wish they would be open until 1am Monday to Friday, but at least Monday through Thursday is better than nothing. I pay for their cheap competitor around the corner for Friday only and their competitors ellipticals bother my knees after a mile, where as City Fitness, I can be on their ellipticals for 9 miles without issue, and would love to only have one gym. If you do not need an indoor pool and jacuzzi then this is definitely the best gym since 12th Street Gym closed.

Although I used to like this gym, they have not been very accommodating or understanding.I have tried to put my membership on hold(one that I got unfortunately January of last year) and tried to cancel my membership multiple times to no avail. Short of cancelling my debit card and reporting the transactions as fraud, city fitness relentlessly continues to charge me despite not wanting to go in at this time. They have made it hard to try to talk to their membership team about doing this and have even ignored my requests to not be apart of this gym at this time.If you don’t want you’re card charged randomly on non payment days or be charged for fake “card failures” that then the gym and abc puts back on its clients, I would suggest using a different location or maybe even a different gym.

I took a wefit class with Sherri Pierro and she was amazing!!!! I was nervous going into it but she is so bubbly and encouraging that I felt super comfortable. I don’t know how she manages to teach, work out along with the class, AND take the time to help out individually, but she does it with finesse! Can’t wait to take another one of her classes.

Mask should still be required, many people are not vaccinated and gyms are huge risk for spreading virus.

DO NOT SIGN UP! Just tried signing up again and I owe over $800 for a gym I only did a free trial at. I ended up moving and they wouldn’t let me freeze or cancel my membership which resulted in this $800 in collections. Which is ridiculous for a place I went to the gym at a handful of times. If City Fitness sees this you need to fix this because this is not ok and making me pay even half of it which is their solution is ridiculous.

Tried to use a day pass and was asked to leave since I was out of town. There’s a certain population of people that will likely be out of town or new to the city that are seeking a new gym.

The outdoor classes are extremely inconsidered to their neighbours. Some of us are essential workers and have to keep our work schedules. This is just insane, they should do this outside of their homes not mine! These people need to respect other peoples need for sleep and relaxation, especially in these hard times. The noise/music is so high that we are honestly thinking of calling the police.

I love this location. All machines are new and facilities almost pristine. Patrons seem nice (been here only 2 weeks) and staff is super friendly. It is a bit more expensive than others in the same range (think Sweat) but definitely more upscale. Took a class (Thrive with Tiffany) and loved it. Had a sense of community I like. Sadly, it is extra and not budget friendly. I think it is worthy

Finally the gym is open, early pass holders have been waiting for just about six months. Through all of that the company did communicate very well on the status of the facility, which is great. We got in on the founders rate so we were able to enjoy various studios around the city which are all unique. It’s very affordable, major metropolitan areas are known to have sky rocketing gym prices which is not good as all people won’t get the same access.I dropped my membership from a niche studio and glad I made the transition, I get more options and classes for a fraction of the price. All the staff are pleasant, greet you upon entering and helpful. When you’re spending money you don’t want to be treated any old kind of way. So far so good during the soft opening, can’t wait for the steam room and sauna to be setup.*UpdateVery appreciative of the cleaning staff. Gyms can be pretty disgusting given the activity, the staff keep the place clean and routinely clean on a consistent basis. Went to another location, the bathrooms weren’t clean and the gym itself was very stuffy and smelly ...yuck.

I love the gym. However I hate standing at the urinal and the house keeping lady walks in to collect the towels. I don’t understand a lady in a mans space when there are male house keeping present. It feels insulting to me. Other than that it’s a really really nice gym. I love it.

I was really, really excited about this gym opening at 11th and Market. It is a perfect location, close to work. For me and what I use they gym for, City Fitness Market Street East woefully missed the mark. First of all the female looker room has one bench for multiple lockers. HORRIBLE!!! If one person places there stuff on the bench there is no place for any other persons stuff. I have to put my shoes on balancing against my locker hoping not to fall. Secondly, the shower itself is beautiful. However, they place a shower curtain with about 6 inches of room to change clothes. Not enough room and of course no bench to place a bag. As I take off my sweaty gym clothes the shower curtain blows and sticks to my sweaty butt. YUCK!!! Third, this gym does not provide deodorant or bags for my dirty work out clothes. I would be OK with that except this is a signature location with signature prices. I also hate the times of the morning classes. WAY TOO EARLY!! I work 9 to 5 across the street, I dont want a 6 AM Spin class. I do not use the weights, treadmills or any of the other things City Fitness Market Street has to offer, it looks nice. Maybe if that was my focus I would have rated City Fitness Market Street higher.

Sane, friendly gym. One of their strokes of brilliance was to remove the constantly blaring TVs from the upstairs, where the ellipticals and other machines are. It is now a peaceful, serious gym for people who want to peacefully and seriously work out.

This new gym has a lot to offer. The upper floor is the cardio floor, with a wide array of equipment including treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, stair steppers, and ergs. The lower floor includes the free weights, weight machines, and a functional fitness type area. The free weights offering is great. There are 4 squat racks, two of which are Eleiko racks with platforms that are great for power lifting and Olympic lifting. There are 8 bench presses, which is a nice change from most gyms where youre constantly having to wait for others to finish. Most dumbbells come in sets of 4 (i.e., 2 pairs of 40 lb dumbbells) which is nice if someone else is using the weight you are looking for.My only complaint would be with the functional fitness area. Theres a lot available, including the great Queenax modular cage/rack that allows for a wide range of activities. However, it would be nice to have at least a few pieces of cardio equipment like an erg or assault bike in this area to allow for functional circuit training. If classes are your thing, there is a range of options with lots of programming. Add-on packages include small group personal training (Thrive) or partner-based circuit training (We/Fit).The locker rooms are a little cramped, but the lockers include built-in locks which is handy. The showers, sauna, and steam room are nice amenities as well.Overall, great gym for the price with comprehensive fitness offerings though it could use some improvement in the functional fitness area.

I workout here a lot because (1) Tiffany is coaching for Thrive Fit which I believe shes the best because I can see my own real results time to time when I workout with her and shes the coach that I only trust and its sad that shes leaving soon and (2) the gym is closer to my work.

Cleanliness and ventilation (A/C) you wont see in many other gyms. Small AND large towels are available for use. Hydromassage chairs are included too. Coworking room (includes coffee and color printing) for a $20 extra a momth. It is open until 1am on the weekdays (10 pm friday to sunday) There really is no excuse NOT to work out due to schedule conflicts! Note the coworking space is not sound proof and theres always a leak from the roof over the cables when it rains hard.
