Diego did a fantastic job. I originally had an appointment with Gene but I was late and he had other clients so Diego who was on lunch at the time came off his lunch break just to give me a haircut. I also wanted to style my hair differently than I normally did which was quite a challenge and Diego did an absolutely fantastic job. I told him that I had a challenging cut and I could have not imagined it coming out better than it did. I highly recommend Diego to anyone interested and I will definitely be going back to him next time

Diego is the best! He provides a perfect cut each time. Very reasonably priced for such an outstanding service. Used to go to just any old barber, but have been going to Diego for 3-4 years now and theres no way Id ever consider changing.

I was in the city for a while and needed a cut. I looked up this shop and was fortunate to get an appointment. Gene, one of the barbers, provided me a very good haircut in a welcoming, clean atmosphere. Id go back if I need a cut when Im in town next. Also, these guys work very hard to comply with Covid precautions.

Had my cut with Gene. This is my third time coming to King of Shave. It is not your normal barber shop. I have had my haircut from Diego, Gene, and Ryan--all of them are fabulous. Warm and welcoming, professional, great conversations, and super efficient. Absolutely love my experience here and they make you feel like family. $30 haircut basically means youre paying $1 every day to look amazing. This place is absolutely worth it, you wont regret it!

I received the best haircut of my life here. Robert, the barber closest to the cash register all the way to the right, did an outstanding job. My appointment started on time and the conversation was pleasant and not overbearing. My fiancé is so grateful for the work Rob did. Best spot in the neighborhood for a good haircut. I go to Gene, but everyone does a great job. Just dont count on walking in and getting a spot, though. They can usually squeeze a person here and there in at some point, but an appointment is really the only way to go. Also, keep in mind its cash only.

Great service and haircuts

I have tried many barbers in the Philadelphia area since moving last year and to say the least I have been extremely disappointed by the talent in the city. On my quest to find another barber, after yet again being disappointed, I found The King of Shave. Happy to say Diego (owner) did a fantastic job. I explained what I was looking for, he asked if I had pictures to assure I was descripting my cut correctly, and cut my hair as requested. No line. A simple fade. Great cut!

Had a day off in this beautiful city and decided I needed to get spruced up for the week.Ryan was awesome at understanding exactly the look I was going for and executing it. He also managed to fix the mistakes of the last butcher err barber I visited.Great shop and will absolutely visit again in the future.

I was reluctant to write this review, as I much prefer to rate places where Ive had a positive experience.I came to King of Shave because I wanted a good mustache trim and saw the large number of positive ratings. While my barber was friendly, he didnt know what a chevron was, and then didnt listen to my instructions. He took much more off than I had asked, leaving me with a trim that wasnt technically bad, but was not close to what I had asked for or wanted. On top of that, the conversation from the barber was littered with racist and homophobic language that I wasnt comfortable with. All in all, a much worse experience than I had hoped for.

Best barber shop in Philly hands down. The owner, Diego, runs the place professionally and creates a great vibe. All of the barbers know how to cut well and honestly, I would never go anywhere else in Philly for a haircut or beard trim except King of Shave.

This place is dope. I got a haircut and beard sculpt done here while visiting from out of town for a wedding, and it was a great experience - probably the best haircut Ive ever had. The attention to detail / pride in the work was apparent and awesome.If Im on the eastern seaboard again Id seek out this place.

Ryan has been my barber now for about a year. He does excellent work, his straight razor shaves are always perfect. His hair cutting skills are the same. He can do any style beard or hair cut. He is the best barber I have ever had. I wont go to any other shop than kings of shave. 5 stars

Amazing People, Amazing Cuts!Ive been going to Gene for a couple of years now. He is very friendly, easy to talk to and an excellent barber. Given my busy work schedule/hours he tries to fit me in anytime he can, even if he has to keep the shop open a little longer. Cant say enough good things about him.

Gene does a great job every time. Both Gene and Diego, the owner, are friendly and engaging. Appointments can be made easily online and well in advance. The haircut runs $30 before adding a tip, which is definitely on the higher end, but you get consistency here. I recommend this place to any friends who ask me for where they should go get a haircut.

I should have known not to go in when someone called me to tell me they can’t cut my hair and I have to go with another barber in the shop. I made my appointment 2 days before. I picked this spot because of the reviews. When I got there I went up to the person that I was now scheduled with. Didn’t seem really happy to cut my hair. He was rough cutting my hair/ brushing. Cut way to much hair from the sides. When he said he was finished I had to point out the uneven parts of my hair he left. As I did my hair this morning i had to use double the amount of hair product to keep my hair down. My hair is my pride and right now The confidence from my hair is gone.glad my hair grows back fast . But i would never go back . The whole experience was bad . The barber barely talked to me and you could hear him mumbling while cutting my hair. Very unprofessional.

Even though we live a little far from here in NJ, I made an appointment for my Fiance before our wedding to get his beard cleaned up. I could not have been happier with the results. Neither of us (and I do not need an excuse...) know much about proper mens facial hair maintenance. He pretty much just lets his beard grow until he cant take it and then trims it all down and does it again. I do not know who he saw there but he said the experience and the atmosphere was great. We both loved the trim and the subtle style of his hair. Even though he had his beard completely shaped and his hair trimmed his barber still managed to let Chris look like Chris. He looked really sharp at our wedding, I would happily send him here again and I know he would gladly go.

After so much time spent barber hopping through center city Philadelphia I found a guy I could count on for consistent & affordable haircuts. A couple years later when he opened KING OF SHAVE I felt relieved because now I’d always know where to find him. Diego has been my barber for at least 7 years and I can’t recommend him enough. His shop is charming & inviting and his staff are friendly & proficient. Get a cut for $30, KOS will not disappoint!

Gene and Diego are super nice and very friendly. They do a great job cutting hairs they have a good camaraderie. It is very hard to get an appointment there Ill book an appointment at least 1 week in advance. They bill themselves as a high-end Barber Shop, which they are but they curiously do not take credit cards which is very inconvenient?!

I’ve been coming to the king of shave for nearly 3years I got hair cuts from all the barbers in the King of shave they are all decent at what they do Ryan was booked so I went with rob who is all the way in the back of the shop closest to the bathroom I’m sorry to say I won’t be going to any of the other barbers anymore rob was fabulous my hair was perfect I never seen such skills he is very professional and if anybody is looking to book at the king of shave be fair to your hair and rob is a must to go to.again he’s the barber closest to the bathtand book with Robert online at the king of shave or you can call and request to speak to robert thank you again rob great job!!!!!!!!!!!

A high quality haircut at a reasonable price. These guys take grooming to the next level with the signature straight razor shave at the end of the cut. Diegos old school barber shop provides excellent service with a personal touch. Diego and Gene know their customers in the shop by name and each of their stories. The conversation is always friendly, lively, and entertaining. Ive had both gentleman cut my hair and couldnt imagine going anywhere else now. Booking online or in the shop is incredibly easy and convenient as long as you plan your next haircut far enough in advance. Even if there is limited space Gene is always willing to accommodate my request.

Nice shop and overall experience, however, the person did not listen to my request for a trim and cut my hair way too short. When I say trim and my coworker observes that I got scalped, theres a problem. Typical of most barbers. I wish someone could tell me what I should say to eliminate this because I try every single time. Barbers just do what they want to do regardless of what you tell them.

New to the city and needed a barber and couldnt have been more satisfied. Rob was very professional and easy to talk to. The building itself was clean, well kept, and had a positive atmosphere with good background music to boot.

I had a hair cut and beard trim here by Ryan. I have no doubt that the positive experiences others have had with Diego were legitimate, but Ryan gave me one of the worst haircuts Ive gotten since I stopped getting my hair cut by the old women in my home town. When I got home I realized he had only trimmed my beard on one side of my face (!) and had left large patches of my hair on the back and sides untouched or unevenly cut. All this cost me 40 dollars. If you go to this barbershop, do not let Ryan cut your hair.
