I moved out of the city and still make the drive downtown to get my haircut at Burke and Payne. The entire team is awesome and the vibes in the shop are great. Carlos is the man! He’s always on time and works fast while delivering a high quality haircut every time. The shop is clean and the staff is covid safe. You can’t go wrong getting a cut from Carlos then a pizza from Angelos, it’s the perfect way to start your weekend.

Hands down best barbershop I’ve ever been to. I personally go to my man Carlos and knock on wood i can say 100% of the cuts I’ve got from him have been more than satisfactory. The fades are tight and the cuts are clean. The barbershop is also clean and socially distanced for covid which can be appreciated. Coming from a guy who used to switch barbers ever 2 months, its safe to say I recommend this shop and especially Carlos for your haircuts.

Initially gave them 1 star for a really poor haircut but received a really professional response from the store’s owner who rectified the situation and got a great clean up today from Bud who was super pro. These guys run a really professional business and I should note that they were really really meticulous with their sanitation after each customer which is important these days.

I don’t normally leave reviews but for $30 I am not really happy with my cut. The top is ok but he messed up my sideburns and did a sloppy job. I know we wear masks but for this price should be a better cut. This was my first time coming here.

I been a client of Steve’s for awhile. Always treated me with professionalism and my cut always came out perfect. I don’t agree with Jacklyn Pryor comments and trying to defame him. He has always treated me and any of my boy or girlfriends that I have referred with respect no matter what race or gender they are!!!

Have been going to Burke and Payne for nearly two years. It took me forever to find the perfect barbershop in Philly and this place is it. I go to Carlos. Great dude. The best cuts ever. Everyone here is knowledgeable about hair in ways that I couldn’t imagine and it’s part of a fun, laid back atmosphere where you can shoot the breeze while getting a cut. I stopped by Burke & Payne for a haircut today and it was another reminder that Jenna is one of the best barbers in Philly. Jenna has cut my hair since I moved to the city in 2015 and I leave the barber chair looking better than when I sat down every single time. As my tastes and hair have changed, she has been able to accommodate different requests and styles because of her experience. And beyond the haircut, I appreciate that shes always there to hear me out and gives good advice.

Hands down the best barber shop in Philadelphia. Very welcoming environment and the barbers give you the exact cut you ask for every time. Definitely book your appointment ahead of time as walk-ins are hard to come by due to how busy they are.

I have been here about a dozen times and almosy every time has been great. The barbers are knowledgeable and efficient and are willing to work with you on the style you want. I had one bad experience where the barber had trouble concentrating, but outside of that I have left with great results.I recommend this place for your regular haircuts.

A very welcoming staff got my in and got me freshened up even though i was shaggy when i came in. Got my haircut 4 hours ago roughly and have been getting compliments ever since. Will be back! I recently had a wonderful experience at Burke & Payne. My barber was Ron and he was a true gangster. pleasant and accommodating, inviting and understanding. Not to mention skilled at his trade. He did exactly what i wanted and exuded a degree of excellence in the process that few can match. The place has character and i will never go anywhere else. I had a really poor experience with Jenna during my haircut. When I arrived she was the only one in the shop and was on her phone lounging. The chair was surrounded by hair from a previous cut. The cut took less then 10 minutes, and she forgot some of my requests. I had to remind her that I wanted a hard part.

Ive gone to Ron twice for a beard trim. Rons technique is efficient and clean. He has great attention to detail. The first trim was just a clean up and the last was to take a few inches off and clean it up. Both times were excellent. Ill be sticking with Ron for regular trims to keep my beard healthy and looking great. Will recommend to friends.

Came across this place by accident, but so happy I did. Incredibly friendly environment in an old school barber setting. Carlos gave me the best haircut I’ve had in years! His willingness to meet with me and make sure I was satisfied speaks volumes and is something I dont see often anymore. This leads me to believe my initial experience is not indicative of the normal work produced here. The man stands by all the work that leaves his shop wants everyone to leave satisfied. Based off this I amend my review and recommend this business.Easily one of the worst haircuts Ive ever gotten. Thought I would try the place out and I was very disappointed. Went in for what was essentially a trim, nothing crazy just enough to give it some shape back and pull it off my ears. What I walked out with was essentially a high fade which cut almost all the length off the side me my head which I specifically said to keep. The top was left alone thank God but looks bad with the sides so short. On top of it not being what I asked for its, not even a good haircut. The fade is average at best and uneven giving my head a lopsided look. Also parts of the hair were not blended leaving clear edges where the hair was cut So it looks unnatural. Worst part is that it cant even be fixed because it got cut so short. The only way it could be salvaged would be to buzz it which would negate the whole reason of wanting to keep the length. So no I have to walk around with this terrible haircut and wait for it to grow out just so I can go pay someone else to try and fix the poor job done here.

Widest range of any barber in Philly. From skin tight fades for summer, to complete scissor cuts for a gentleman look over the winter. Im very demanding when it comes to my hair. They ALWAYS answer the call. These guys are steadily busy so Id suggest booking online vs. walking in. Besides Michael, Carlos & Steve are excellent barbers as well. Take your pick with who does your cut, you really cant go wrong. Also, this is the sister shop to Michaels original baby: Barber on 24th on the northwest corner of 24th and Lombard, one of the busiest and most well known shops in South Philly. If you study or work at UPENN, you already know it. Depending on which side of town you reside these are the only two spots to go. Take my word, you wont be disappointed..

One of the chicks there did my cut. Not gonna mention her name but she rushed for no reason and there was no one after me. She cut my hair and then sat in the chair on her phone. She was aggressive with the haircut and using the knife to shave the hairs on my neck. I showed her a picture of the cut I wanted and she did not deliver. I will come back just not with her, this place is awesome just had a bad experience.

Not a good first impression. First time trying this spot, showed up for my 5:30 appointment with Mike, introduced myself, and he asks me to have a seat and wait and then begins taking another client. I didnt say anything until he asked me a few minutes later (out loud in front of everyone) if I dont just want to have my hair cut with one of the other barbers instead since he still had two more clients ahead of me and estimated it would take an hour. Didnt even apologize or excuse himself. He put me in an awkward position and I went ahead with the other barber who was very sweet and tried to give me the cut I wanted but came short--the side fade is way too high. Dont come here if youre looking for a place that works on an appointment system (I found out that my experience is not unique here). FYI I would not have left this review based on the cut alone.

Moved to broad & Fitzwater 2 weeks ago and walked by B&P Barber Co on 9th & had to check it out. Ive been going to the same Barber for years in Delco & typically only have time on Sundays to get a cut which has always been a hindrance.
