Emailed to schedule a state inspection and got a response the next day. You won’t come across friendlier office staff than here. Had a nice time chatting with them. Inspection was done quickly and I appreciated the photo documentation. As someone who doesn’t know much about cars, I won’t be intimidated or worry about being told something needs fixed that doesn’t actually need fixed. I’ll be returning for any car service needs I have in the future.

I came in for an inspection and emissions test. I ended getting new air filters. They were helpful and didn’t try to upsell me on maintenance that wasn’t crucial. Honest, fast service and I got an unexpected car wash! I would recommend Schafer’s to anyone. I’ll be back for regular oil changes.

After receiving their flyer by mail yesterday, I decided to drop by and see if I could get a new car inspection today.I spoke with Jennifer and found her to be extremely helpful and friendly. Although by appointment only she was able to squeeze me in almost immediately. Jennifer was great! She offered me the use of their charging station and a good cup of coffee. I received a copy of the inspection via text and a call when the car was ready. Oh, and they even washed it!! Outstanding customer service!! Thank you

I cannot say enough about the level of customer service I received by ALL members of this business, especially the owner. It took a lot longer than anticipated to finish the work on my car. However, Michael knew I needed my car for work the following day. He ensured the work got finished even after the shop had closed. All staff continuously checked on me while I waited there. Might I add how AWESOME the waiting area upstairs is...it is like a little apartment! I greatly appreciate the level of care both myself and my car received here. They send you an inspection update over text, and didnt try to push my (minor) car issues (even suggesting it would be fine to fix months from now). I made an appointment online, they called me to confirm. I called again to see whether I could drop my car off early, they let me know that was fine. I showed up, parked, and walked into their lobby. Two smiling faces, and a great experience. They sent a digital file with all of my auto issues rated by color for severity and a photo with a description of the necessary repairs. I picked it up that day and it wasnt a bad price! Seriously great, will go there again.

I found Schafers price to be superior to the dealership when pricing a required 100K mile scheduled maintenance on my 2014 Acura RDX. At the very least its worth your time to compare price quotes for an expensive service or repair job.

Go in for a couple quick things. Come out 2 hours later, no communication, with only one request filled (at double the price youd pay elsewhere). And what happened to the free car wash?

I’ve been here multiple times and some times the work was good and sometimes I needed to bring my car back for a redo and the work was shotty I guess it depends on which mechanic fixes your car. Either way it was always more than expected.

So let me tell you about this wonderful place I came across by luck.I have been looking for a place to check what was happening to my car after the check engine light came on. I had no clue what was happening as i needed that to be off to get my car inspected. I called earlier this week and Jennifer (the best person ever if i may say) assured me that i can go and get a complimentary whole car system check to really find out was was wrong. Keep in mind its an old car and it looks like the previous owner wasnt really into checking internal issues. Today i went in to see what was happening to my 2010 Honda CRV. Anyways once the report came back she told me exactly what was wrong and even send it to my phone, so i could go along with what she was talking about, with pictures and all. She gave me the good the bad and the ugly and told me what exactly i needed to fix, so you know i would get in a wreck or something. Her calming tone and reassurance allowed me to trust her and do what she recommended. At the end I had to change my catalytic converter, align my tires and axes, and get a new battery as the old one was about to die. The other things she explained it to me and made sure that it wasnt a serious issue but that i should consider changing them once i had a bit more money in my pocket. Overall, what i can tell you is that they have my service for life and i will be going to them for everything car related. The management aka Jennifer and the whole team made sure my car was back to running in great conditions. And the best part is that there is warranty with what ever they do. I highly recommend it and highly encourage anyone looking for a local reliable place to go here. I went in with a smile and came out with a bigger smile. Also, they have this little section where i was relaxing and doing school work. Best place ever. Thank you guys

They stand behind their work. I had a new alternator put in by the dealer. It died again after only 15 months and they told me it was outside their one year warranty. Schafers replaced with a new alternator and offers a lifetime warranty. Lifetime! Ill never go back to the dealer again. The owner cares about his customers and provides great service. Thanks!

Great customer service! The owner, Mike is a stand up guy and does good work. Had both of my catalytic converters stolen and he was able to replace them with a universal one, that ended up saving me a good $1000. Along with that, he offered a free oil change the next time I came in, which was unnecessary but greatly appreciated. All in all, I’ll be using his shop as he tells me what’s going on straight up and doesn’t penny pinch. Highly recommend.

DON’T BE FOOLED BY THEIR OVERLY NICE CUSTOMER SERVICE. They are sneaky, and not to be trusted with your car.Came to this place as a first-time car owner just looking for a state inspection. They overcharged me so much that by the end of inspection, I was paying over $400. My air worked completely fine before arriving, and my check engine was off. After leaving, both were the opposite. Days later, I found out by another mechanic that Scafer’s had PURPOSELY removed the A/C clutch relay from my car, which caused the air to not work at all, and turned on the check engine light. They acted as if they couldn’t understand why this had happened, but were the ONLY HANDS to even TOUCH my car. Just another evil mechanic taking advantage of a customer.

I was struggling to find a place that would help me with my out of state emissions testing until I came across Schafers. When I called they walked me through the process and told me how theyve done it for other individuals. None of the past four auto centers were able to get my vehicle tested or even interested in trying to help me do so, but Schafers did. Despite initial some hiccups (my car battery died so I failed the first test) the team guided me through the process and eventually I go the approval I needed.Very pleased with the service and care I received at Schafers and I intend to come here for my future car needs. The team was professional, kind, and excellent at their work.

I took my 2004 dodge in for a exhaust leakAnd not only did they put a great sounding exhaust system in my truck. I pulled in because my engine light went on when driving on 76 East and I quickly googled nearest mechanic. Boy was it a blessing I pulled into Schafers. It is easily the best experience I have had at a mechanic ever. If I lived closer, I live an hour away, Schafer would be my choice for all of my auto needs. I cannot recommend them enough. I can not say enough about Schafer’s! We are a neighborhood family and live just a few blocks away. Every time I ever mention getting work done everyone always says, “you should check out Schafer’s! They do awesome work!” I don’t know why it took me 6 years to stop by the building we always talk about! (You know the one on Colombus Boulevard where it looks like a car drove through their building!) From the moment you walk in and talk to Cindy you instantly feel at home! They have open bay windows so you can see them working on your car! I loved that they are a one stop shop too! Our car was a nightmare to begin with. Not only is it a car no longer made, it seems that when the dealer closed down a bunch of misinformation was added to their system including the wrong type of rotors for the rear tires. Not only did Schafer’s try one, two, three but four rotors until they found the one that fit! Mike (the owner) was open and honest with me through the entire process which made me feel even better because most shops would just charge you more without telling you why! Schafer’s returned my car in cleaner condition then when they found it and I think that speaks volumes to their customer service. If you’re around it is ABSOLUTELY worth the drive to see them!! We will never go to another shop!!

I went here for my first time this week and had a great experience. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I set up an appointment and they looked at my car while I waited (large comfortable waiting room upstairs!) My car was fixed, inspected, and they even renewed my registration and gave my Volvo a car wash. Would definitely come back here. So much better than some other experiences I’ve had in South Philly. Oh and one more perk is that they have an actual parking lot that you can pull into (and not have to worry about street parking) and they will call you complimentary Uber to get to where you’re going if you need to leave car over night.

I went to Schafer’s for some exhaust work to pass the state inspection and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. We just moved here from Atlanta and had been to two other shops where we felt like we were being taken for all of our money. I went to Schafer and Mike hooked me up with the exhaust work and state inspection for a third of what the others were charging. He was super nice and went the extra mile to help us out.When you find a good mechanic you stick with them. We are a three car family and every one of them is going to Schafer for their maintenance and inspections. You won’t regret going here!

Came in for an oil change, they said I needed front brakes, they said that it was urgent and I wouldn’t be able to get my car inspected with out it being done. I didn’t have time to get it done that day. I just went to another mechanic in my area an he told me that my brakes are in fairly new condition and that they don’t need to be changed. Schafer’s auto are total crooks, liars and thieves.

So I just needed to replace a headlight bulb. Usually my mechanic does it in 5 minutes and charges me $25. But today I decided to go to the closest to my home service expecting to save some time.I’ve been told that at first they will do free multi point inspection. Ok, but I weren’t told that it would take an hour. This inspection detected that I need to do wheel alignment, which I had done literally 1 week ago and replace a tag light. But it didn’t detected other problems which I was already aware of. So honestly I have doubts about the quality of this inspection.Estimate for replacement of 2 bulbs was 68.19. I know it’s stupid to complain about price when I agreed to that, but I just couldn’t say no after somebody spent an hour inspecting my car. In addition to charging me for 2 bulbs ($5.65+$15.00) I’ve been charged $4.79 for “job supplies”. I wonder what kind of supplies you need to replace a bulb, except the bulb itself.Thank you for a free car wash though.Also I want to mention that staff was very polite and friendly.

Amazing Service by the entire Schafer Team. Found myself with a flat on 95 just south of Columbus Blvd. After getting the spare thrown on by AAA went straight to Schafers at the recommendation of a friend and was totally Wowed by their friendliness and quick service. Took my car in right away and had me back on the road by end of day. Kudos to owner Michael for creating a welcoming environment where it wasnt expected.

The mechanic I used for the past 6 years seems to have shutdown unexpectedly perhaps due to covid. I needed an oil change, my ac checked out, and my muffler started making noise. Having a good autoshop that I can trust is always a concern for me since I dont know much about cars and too many of them take advantage of that. Schafers was near by and had good reviews so I decided to try them out. Everyone was super friendly and professional. I really liked that they send you a link with pictures and video showing what they saw, and what work they reccomend to get done. A technician called me to walk me through it and share costs. When I came to pick up my car the owner Michael even ran my car to get it washed. They also had social distancing, lysol cleaning etc in place. Would reccomend trying them out, I will definitely be returning.

Ive known the owner Mike for a number of years now when I came to get some aftermarket wheels and tires. Service here has always been spectacular. Very organized and close knit. Now there is a complimentary vehicle health inspection which comes via text message. It indicates any issues or recommendations with a pic of the specific instrument needing repair so you can see it for yourself. There is no gimmicks here just golden service and I highly recommend to all.

Dishonest inspection practices. They found $1,400 repair on my car and it failed inspection. I took the same car to a dealership the next day and it passed, with no repairs needed. I would never go here again.

Schafers is the best! I usually only go to dealerships to have my car serviced, but the team at Schafers has proven to me on multiple occasions that they know what they are doing. The prices reflect the quality of mechanical service and parts used (not to mention the lifetime warranty on all of the parts Schafers installs!), and the customer service is spot on. It is very thoughtful that they call Uber to drop-off/pick-up for you. I had one issue where the antenna was ripped off of my car when they had it washed after the mechanical service was completed. Of course this was not Schafers fault directly, and they offered to pay to have the antenna replaced without skipping a beat. I really appreciated that.Most importantly my car is running like a clock and I look forward to continue patronizing Schafers for all of my automotive needs. While it might be a bit on the pricey side, they make up for it in service. They offer excellent communication, whether it is in the email/text reports they use to explain and visually depict diagnoses, or its the calls and texts to communicate when youre car is being worked on and when its ready for pickup. They will only work on what you ask them to, and while they will identify everything, they dont seem to correct unnecessary issues without your consent.They are easy to get to, and have enough room to hold multiple vehicles at a time without worries of parking. They even offer complimentary ubers to nearby locations for those who are dropping their cars off.Overall: Price = 3.5/5 Quality = 5/5 Service = 5/5

I went to this shop on a reference from a family member. My first visit was good and everything worked out well, however after that it went downhill. My biggest issue is the diagnosis fee. My car was having trouble and I wanted to use Schaffer’s as my shop however my car was old and I was between paying to fix it or just getting rid of it. I asked for them to tell me what was wrong and then I would decide what direction I wanted to go. I assumed if I had them look at it and decided not to get it fixed they wound charge a fee, which is understandable. What I don’t understand is the charge of the fee if I get the repair done. A $150 job quickly turns into a 300-400 job with the $189 diagnostic fee. For a customer who was excited to find a local mechanic it was very upsetting. I’ve also had my car misdiagnosed twice. If I am paying almost 200 to find out what is wrong I would expect the information to be right.

Car issues are usually a headache to deal with but I can trust that theyll diagnose and repair with integrity and quality, so they really have transformed thetaking the car to the shop process into a strangely enjoyable experience. They take a full inspection of your car and send reminders when something is due for maintenance.Theres also a homey waiting room area with wifi, TV, and coffee. I usually bring a laptop to do work on while Im there. They also offer Uber services to and from the shop for longer repair times. 👍💯

I was in a dilemma because I had just gotten a new car and had to wait for my PA plate and ZONE 5 parking permit. I FINALLY got all of that but realized that if I parked on the street in my ZONE.... it wasn’t INSPECTED yet and the TOXIC Parking Authority pathetic PROWLERS would ticket me with a HUGE fine. It was 3:00 PM on a Friday. I was panicking. I called Schafer’s randomly and their CSR was AMAZING! She said bring the car over and we’ll put it in our locked parking lot and keep it safe til Monday.Not only did they SAVE me from huge fines, they had LYFT take me home and bring me back Monday. Finding a mechanic who is honest, courteous and dedicated can be hard to come by. I have a car that was long overdue for a new muffler. After getting ridiculously high quotes from other mechanics, I decided to give Schafers a shot.Throughout the whole process, the staff treated me with kindness and respect. For example, I asked if could look at the muffler while they inspected it, so they allowed me to come into the garage. They explained the problem to me in detail - they even texted me a visual breakdown to help me understand what happened to my muffler (seriously, what other mechanic does that?!?). While my car was in the shop, they sent me an Uber so I could get to and back from work. On top of all that, they offered me a free oil change whenever I need it.Ive never visited an auto center before that valued their customers this way. If youre looking for a high-quality mechanic and a reasonable price, then Schafers Auto Center is a perfect choice for you.

This place is a complete RIP OFF avoid at all cost... they tried to charge me $250.00 for a $5.00 signal light. I bought the light at pep boys and installed it myself in literally 5 minutes!Again this place is a Total RIP OFF that you should AVOID completely

I call them sticky finger schafers, they tried to over charge me a extra $200 dollars for a part thinking i didnt know what was up, i saw them charging another guy $1400. they have a program if you give them a 5 star review on google you get incentives. shady place

They are good at one thing. Brakes. Everything else confuses them. And you will wind up paying for their learning and ineptitude. They charge you and charge and still fail to actually fix your car. Example charged for diagnosis. Recc a repair. I paid for repair. It did not fix the problem. Took car back. This time oh we didnt see this other problem. At least refund for faulty diagnosis. Nope. Thats just one example. I could go on.

MY friend Took his car there to b repaired, and 9 months, and $1800 later the car still wouldnt start after their threats of storage of a car they werent capable of repairing they finally release it.. Had to tow it away to another repair shop 260 miles away only to find out the distributor was installed wrong 180 degree off... Stay away.. They talk the talk but cant walk the walk

Overcharged for an inspection of 2014 car, more than I was quoted on the phone. They wouldnt lower the price more than $5 when I protested. I also kept getting upsold on unnecessary maintenance, other car products, etc, which I found annoying after 2 or 3 attempts to get me to pay more money for things I didnt need.

The service was immediate, courteous and pleasant. The free vehicle inspection was a terrific bonus. The mechanic fixed my clogged leaking windshield dispenser at no charge. I recently called Schafer’s based solely on proximity and Google reviews for an emergency repair. Two minutes later (literally - I’d called from the Walmart parking lot), I was in the waiting room with my car being looked at. The staff was respectful, professional, and efficient. They offered rides to and from the shop, and texted me progress updates along with pictures of what needed to be fixed before calling to get the work authorized. The cost of the repair was fair and ended up being less than the original estimate, and the whole operation from panicked phone call to picking up the car was less than three hours. I will definitely be returning to Schafer’s for any auto needs.

Been going to these guys for every car issue since 2011. I wont go anywhere else.I dont care about the wait room, the repair costs, or the location. Theyre honest and treat customers with respect. Thats all that matters to me.

This place is a rip off. Dont go here.Went here to get my car checked out for a rough start problem and they tried to get me to pay for a bunch of things that had nothing to do with the rough start. I had to press them to find out exactly what they wanted to charge me for and it turned out to be unnecessary things. For e.g., some kind of a performance boosting upgrade. I talked to an expert mechanic friend of mine afterwards and came to the conclusion that Schafers preys on people that dont know much about cars.
