Just the absolute kindest staff members who exude love for animals. It was a literal lifesaver when I discovered that PAWS would allow me to bring my cats to seek care at a more affordable rate. If that wasn’t amazing enough, my best friend and I found an abandoned cat and brought her to PAWS to see if they could check if she was chipped. Not only were they able to help us discover that she was indeed chipped but unfortunately abandoned, but the staff also generously offered their time and expertise to help advise us on how best to care for the cat, even going above and beyond to help us with clipping her nails and applying flea medication. They set us up for success with some supplies and a wealth of information to care for our new furry friend, and I was truly moved by their expertise and willingness to help us. I am forever grateful that there is an organization as great as PAWS.
The place is good for the price and services however they dont answer the phone. Called for over a week straight went there and waited for. 20 mins before someone asked if i needed help
It was great and we love sophie .she so comforting she loves alot of attention .such a pleasure to have
Adopted this beautiful girl, Zelda, in January and she was so shy, but after just about a week of being with me, shes opening up and playing and socializing. The staff at PAWS were so sweet, kind and informative when I came in for a meet-and-greet, then to adopt. With all the information they provided me with, including insurance and vet recommendations, I was prepared for her arrival and adjustment to her new home. Ive already fallen in love with Zelda 💖💖💖😼
The people at Paws were amazing and very professional with not only the my feelings and my needs for a pet but also with the needs of their pets up for adoption.. Because of them and the wonderful foster parents my husband and I got our Precious Harliquinn Again thank you PAWS for all you do.. Carla Marie Reighn
A little pricey but very professional. We were seen at our appointment time, the vet spoke to us personally and made recommendations, and the tech was awesome. Glad we took our babies here to be seen. Well be back!
The website experience was a good one. It gives you pictures and information of the pets available for adoption. Manuvering on the site was simple and easy. No complications. I just didnt find the pet that I was looking for.
I adopted a few dogs a few years ago great dog one was a weimaraner and the other was a great Dane
As always, awesome. They get no state or Federal funding, so anything to help them. Laundry detergent, cat and dog foods etc. They do such great work.
Friendly& fast atencion
Excellent seafood perfectly and decadently prepared. Great staff and wonderful service.
Springfield vet is a joke!!! the vet has no bed side manner and no compassion he was was very rude I dont recommend this place
I did not get the call
I always took my Riley there each year. Surgery went to cant say.
Wait time and service were very quick. I took my puppy for shots and we were in and out in under 30 minutes. The staff was very informative, helpful and very polite.
Great place for on the go breakfast. They stop making the vegetarian enpanadas.
This place is great. Im so glad there are people out there helping animals like this!
They were able to tend to my baby during this cov-19 and were very helpful & honest..
I LOVE THE FACT THAT THEY SAVE ANIMAL THAT WERR MISTREATED AND NURSE THEM BACK TO HEALTH AND TRY AND FIND THEM A NICE NEE HOME.. ❤️
Always have taken great care of my 3 dogs and 1 cat!!!
I had my cat Calico Jane, spayed yesterday. The people at Paws were so very helpful and it was nice to know an adorable service is available to help spay and neuter our furry friends. When I found Jane she was dirty, pregnant and flea bitten. Now her and one of her kittens are a part of my family and the other kittens are in good homes.
I cant speak about the clinic but the adoption process for getting my kitten was thorough and felt that they cared about the animal. Friendly staff who answered my questions promptly.
I called and even email about an abused dog. Never got a response and he is still being abused. Hate that i hear him crying. It makes me want to scream.
We adopted a lab terrier, pit bull mixed breed dog. Had a beautiful experience with our puppy. Very cordial staff.
Fabulous service
Love it here . They are all nice and your pet get good care
On 9/29/20 I had a scheduled appointment for my dog to get her vaccines. When I was called to schedule the appointment, I was told I had to pay an additional $15 to come in for the appointment. While I was informed that this cost would not be applied towards vaccines, it was not made clear why an additional $15 was being charged to come in for an appointment. I assumed this surcharge may have been COVID-19 related, PPE supplies, cleaning etc.I arrived for my appointment at the Gray Ferrys Avenue location during a heavy down pour of rain. There was a tent set up a the door, but it did nothing to shelter from the rain. The tent had leaks. There were no staff available outdoors to provide direction or check-in assistance. When someone finally came to door to provide assistance, I told the young lady that I had an appointment and that I paid the $15 fee for the appointment. I soon found out that the fee was not for admission into the clinic, but still unclear of why this fee was being charged. I was handed a clip board to complete the intake application.Have you ever tired to balance a clip board and a 40 pound dog on leash being antagonize by another dog in the pouring rain? It got so bad that application was soaked and i had to be given another one to complete. I still insisted that I needed to come in but was not allowed. So I suggested that they at least let my dog come into the clinic to avoid a fight between my dog and the other dog waiting for vaccines. My dog was allowed to go into the clinic only to avoid an altercation.I understand that this is a low cost vaccination clinic and that PAWS is a Non Profit Organization, but the way the service was handled during inclement weather as well as scheduling the appointment was horrible. Being a Non Profit Organization or a low cost clinic is no excuse for subpar service. If its not OK for your staff to be wading in torrential rains to check in clients, it should not be ok for pet owners and their pets to have to wait under those conditions to receive services. Here are a few suggestions to avoid this problem in the future:-If your clinic is only providing curbside service, there should be an avaliable/open phone or text service to allowpet owners check in from their cars.- Please be clear what services will be avaliable at the clinic appointments (my dog could not get her Heart Worm Test)- Pets should be allowed into the clinic at the time of their appointment without delay.I hope you employ some of these suggestions and do better at providing services during these challenging times.
Kindest and best Charitable organization towards animals!
GREAT PLACE TO SAVE OR HELP AN ANIMAL AND PET! PLEASE CALL AHEAD FIRST. THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My friend tries to adopt but PAWS refuses to let her. She was bitten by a cat years ago and got cellulites from the bite. They operated on her hand to get to the infection which was spreading fast. She took that cat to get a checkup after she was out if the hospital and they took this poor cat away from her. She did not surrender it. They have a one track mind and will not listen to reason she was very sick over them taking the cat away not they will not allow her to adopt. This is no way to treat a person who loves animals. Whoever made that decision should look at the truth no way would she give up an animal.
**UPDATE: About a week after posting this review I was matched with an amazing dog named Oscar! He’s been my new fur baby and Chili’s younger brother for 5 months and it already feels like forever. Thanks, PAWS, for helping complete our little tribe**I’ve been in the process of looking for a companion dog for my aging lab mix, and while I haven’t found the perfect fit yet, PAWS and its staff have been great so far! Sarah and Rich in particular have really gonna above and beyond to help me find the right animal friend: reaching out about potential animals, providing detailed info, and being open and honest when issues arose (for example, one dog being a bit too pushy to be in a home with cats, of which I have two). I can’t stress enough how much the staff and volunteers at PAWS love and care for animals, and I look forward to working with them as my search continues!
Very informal of pets..
They were super helpful in helping me adopt my new furry kitty babies. They truly love animals.Great people from foster parents to the staff that works at the center.
Ive come to the conclusion that nothing in life is more difficult than wanting a cat my entire life and growing up with two parents who are both severely allergic to them. Fortunately, when I got my own apartment, I started making plans to bring a cat into my life and give them a fur-ever home. After a few visits to the PAWS adoption center to play with some of their cats, I decided theyd be the ones from whom I would adopt my soon-to-be furry companion. The adoption center always welcomes visitors with open arms, even if you are not planning to adopt; though the cats who play well with other cats live in rooms together and the ones who dont live in cages. The center only keeps one or two dogs onsite, so the ratio of cats to dogs is definitely much higher on the cat end. PAWS does not put pets on hold, though I filled out the adoption paperwork about a month before I came in to adopt my cat, and once I was notified that I had been approved and that my apartments pet policy had been confirmed, I was all set, but the only thing missing was a cat. Finally, on April 19, 2014, I set foot in the PAWS adoption center to find the perfect cat. When I mentioned I was looking for a fairly young cat who would do well in a small apartment (mine is 400 sq. ft.) who was affectionate and likes to cuddle, the shelter staff suggested a cat named Chalk. Her estimated age was 4-6 years old so that threw me off, but they assured me that was only an estimate and that the age was to be taken with a grain of salt because the amount of tartar buildup on the cats teeth is what they use as their criterion. After spending a bit of time with this kitty, I decided to take her home. I signed the agreement, bought a carrier, and was sent off with a small bag of cat food with my kitty in tow. I have since renamed her Beaker, but I am glad to report she is still as cuddly and affectionate as ever and has been with me through 2 moves and many ups and downs! I HIGHLY recommend PAWS to anyone who is looking to adopt a cat; the staff is so helpful, friendly, and will assist you in finding one who will make a wonderful addition to your home and your life.Thank you PAWS (from me AND Beaker!)
PAWS is a fantastic organization that truly makes a difference in the lives of animals. I have been lucky enough to work with them both as a volunteer and as an adopter. As a volunteer, Ive met wonderful like-minded people who love animals, are friendly and passionate, and get a chance to feel like Im making a difference. There are so many opportunities to help, from working events where the public gets to meet adoptable animals, to helping clean the shelter, feed and spend time with cats & dogs, and even fostering animals. And the staff is awesome - always welcoming, helpful and willing to take the time to work with you and make sure youre comfortable. After volunteering for a few years, I ended up adopting a wonderful little dog we named Stella. She has brought so much joy to our lives and we owe that all to PAWS.
The staff was knowledgeable, kind, and supportive. Johanna is my first kitty and I couldnt be happier!! If youre looking for your first pet or tenth this is absolutely the best place to look. The animals in the shelter are treated very well and seem to enjoy a genuinely high quality of life.
The doctor was not patient with my dog. He showed no compassion to my dog. He tried to jab a Q-tip in his ear right away. Also, the fee was ridiculous. 143 dollars for my dog to see a horrible doctor. He gave up and didnt even try to examine my dog. I would recommend that you avoid this place and take your pet somewhere else.
I have been to paws on 2 occasions. Once to help a friend get a cat and once for myself to find a cat myself. The staff was extremely helpful both times. The work they do at paws is exceptional. They try to save as many pets from ACCT as they can. I would recommend looking here before anywhere else if you want to adopt a loving pet.
When I decided I was ready to have a kitty, I started doing research on different shelters and rescues. After visiting two, my heart was sinking. The cages were dirty and cramped, and the animals seemed to be in very low spirits. I decided to do a quick google search as a last resort, and upon finding PAWS, I paid them a visit. The difference in setting was drastic. I walked into a well-lit, clean, and happy environment at the Old City location. Volunteers and employees were all over the place, helping clean out cages and giving the animals some much needed love. I was overjoyed. Most of the animals in their care were rescued from the overcrowded and underfunded shelters in the area, some of which I had looked into in the beginning. They do so much for the well-being of their animals and it really shows. When I was filling out an application, it just so happened that one kitty, who enjoyed being a shoulder cat, was refusing to vacate a volunteer’s back, so I helped her out. Little did I know I would be taking her home the next day. We had a rocky start with some health issues upon taking her home, and they were so incredibly helpful during the 21 day period after adoption at their Grays Ferry clinic. They went above and beyond for her and I’m beyond grateful. Because I now have a happy, healthy, crazy, and amazing cat in my home. If I had to do it all over again, I would go through PAWS in a heartbeat. Thanks for everything you guys. You’re the best.
Totally awesome staff and my friend started fostering dogs and she got her first and he is the best dog. He is supper friendly and house trained and is great with children. So if your looking to help out by fostering an animal or you want a new pet like a dog or cat this is the place to go. Just an FYI if your looking to meet a dog going to their office is not the place to go because they generally dont have dogs there. Their library of animals is available online which is a great place to start.
The staff genuinely care about the animals they have onsite and its great to people doing what they love. The animals are amazing wish we could do something special for each one but but, here we are again.
We went to PAWS to see about adopting a dog, for a companion for our older dog, Rico, who lost his brother of 12 years. Everyone was nice. They had a good number of dogs there.
PAWs is great! they really care about all of the animals they have and their facilities are always clean. great adoption and fostering options.
Nicely orginazed. Fun color paint and eveythin was well out together. Made the best use of space in this slightly smaller pet shop, but its city space for ya! Staff was nice and anwsered all my questions with a genuine smile. Almost walked out with an application for the puppy in the window (as cliche as that sounds) but due to application time, which is understandable and the fact I was visiting town for only another few hours I did not apply. Will visit again next time Im in town.
Workers are friendly and fast. Im usually in and out with no problem
Wonderful service and food. Very dark though, could barely read the menu. Many lights were out, we actually thought they were closed. We will be back though!
My husband had passed away. I needed Life in my home. I had see on Petfinder that Deuce, Deuce was available for adoption. I had an appointment for a Meet and Greet. Everything worked out and I adopted the newly named, Seamus. Although he has a few quirks, he has brought such joy to my home.
Take to long to get back to your.
Such a great place to adopt from! They truly care about the well being of their animals and finding them the perfect forever home!! I have volunteered with PAWS to help socialize scared cats to make them feel safe interacting with people again and was able to see a HUGE difference in their behavior and manners! If youre looking to adopt or foster you MUST stop in a PAWS location! You wont be disappointed!
The food is absolutely amazing . great mixed crowd and the bartenders are awesome .
PAWS brings hope and happiness to the animals of Philadelphia! Theyre a fantastic rescue organization that unites cats and dogs with their forever families. As a volunteer with them for just over a year, Ive met some amazing people and animals. I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for an ethical organization to adopt a new furry friend from!
A bit small but have a lot of cute cats. Very nice people.
Brought my sick German Shepherd there and they charged me $400 to kill him.,,, and told me they would not accept my check or any kind of payment plan to save his life, very money hungry and not very understanding as I drive a tractor-trailer make really good money and have a very good job and they would not trust me or take my check or let me do a payment plan with them to save my dogs life because all they really care about is your money not your animal! #butchershop
I dont understand the 2 reviews below mine. We adopted a cat (adopt not buy) from PAWS and love having him around us. The staffs are very helpful in terms of narrowing which cat that would likely suits our personality. Great experiences so far!
It was a smooth & simple adoption process. I am very happy!
Amazing experience at PAWS adoption center! Not only was I a long time volunteer (dog walker) at the shelter before I was in a living situation that would permit adoption but they took the time to pair me with the perfect dog to fit my lifestyle. Couldnt be happier with our little lump Maybe, a low key, kid loving, freckle faced pup!
Very nice animal shelter & helpful, friendly staff.
The folks here are always super kind and the animals seem very happy.
Getting Boscovs back is a great boost for this mall, noticed quite a few new stores in there, at least the mall is trying to get something going.
Good people and awesome volunteers, great cause, if your looking to adopt an cat or dog please give them a look first, you can visit
They do amazing work
Sent the same cat I found back to my porch she came 2 times I couldnt just leave her out there a kitten, I have 3 rescue dogs already Blessing i did there job and found her a good home
I have a dog that was given to me and I dont know if it has all the vaccines it has a small insert that has its center number and another one that is 6707 I want to know more information about my puppy
Everyone was very nice and helpful, and we found a forever friend to bring into our home
I heard so much about this place, yallare soooo Wonderful too the animals we need more people like yall, keep the Beautiful job❤🐶🐈❤
Opens at noon, very unusual for a store. Very nice place to find a cat to adopt. We recently had a very nice experience adopting a cat. They also sell as small variety of accessories as another way to offset the cost of running the shelter.
Great customer service and showed so much care and love for the animals.
Thank you. Just, thank you. They have no chance without people like you.
Excellent staff who absolutely knows their stuff and good amenities for the animals housed there. Additional goods and services are also offered
Our cat ran away and they are helpfull trying to get the word out that he is missing still no word on bim but are fingers are crossed that his safe return will come soon
They never contacted me for approval or denial concerning my adoption application
Affordable .. Quick service
I dont hate this place they have no customer service at all
They are set up nicely to spend a little time petting the resident cats. My children enjoyed that.
Good affordable prices. Not easy to get on the phone.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The shelter itself was immaculately clean!!
I just got my cat there todayBiscuit.thank you for helping me .great ppl easy to talk to
Took my dog here to get her shot and nail clip first of all it’s only 1 doctor they rush you in and out they are not friendly the vet clip my dog nails down to her vein she was bleeding all over the place I took her back to be checked the doctor wouldn’t even come out the room to acknowledge that she made a mistake theY computer never have the correct dated records they have no order at this place
At least some of the homeless animals have a shot at being adopted
Put an app. in . never got a call. Went back 6 mths. later never got a call. It seems to me that the girl at the desk screens all. Take my advice go elsewhere. There are a lot of other places you can go to adopt a nice dog or cat..................
Not a good place went in thinkin me and my wife was getting a cat they were very racist the girl wouldn’t even look me in my face said they would contact me about the cat and never got a response back you guys should be a shame of yourself and then kept asking me things about my dogs which they have a loving home and they are fine all we wanted was a cat you guys made it impossible never going back there again
I enjoyed that we were able to come in with my granddaughter and show her the animals
Love PAWS and what they do for the city. Ive adopted three cats from them, wish I could adopt more.
LOVE! We will only adopt and donate to Philly PAWS and ACCT from now on. Helpful staff, found our newest adoptee.
Fell in love with the Yorkie when I stopped in, however did all the paperwork, waited, waited, waited and waited and no one ever called me back! What’s the point? Just plain ole rude. Go elsewhere! I really wanted that damn dog! 🐕 Wouldn’t recommend this place!
Check out the PAWS. Find someone to love!
They have some adorable rooms to house some of the pets, and the kitties and puppies have much more fun there than in cages. The volunteers are extremely nice and friendly.
The workers are not friendly they were not equipped to deal with my little dog, not very helpful
Very clean facility, adopted a wonderful cat from their shelter. Highly recommend, we had a great experience.
I go there for the cats, I love cats. Spiritual creatures.
Lovely! Taking such great care of pets in need
Paws is the best Ive adopted a cat from them
