(this is from the statues.capitol.texas.gov)According to the person I spoke to the contract does not have an end date. I paid everything that I owed because a 100 dollar bill a lot better than being in collections. The staff is really professional dont get me wrong I loved how they treated me, but this is a lesson that I had to learn to make sure to read the contract and do not lose it because it is 30 dollars to get a new one. A 40 dollar cancellation fee for a contract that has no end date.

The gym is perfect and not overcrowded. You cant beat their pricing and they have all the same weights you find at other gyms.

Great gym... old school feel ... I see all complaints which just sound like it’s from people that dont know how the system works or just like to complain ... I remember getting behind on one payment (the yearly charge) but the staff helped me sort that out... so definitely if you are clear on policies and what not they do work with you ... Pharr gym is convenient for me specially on weekends when all other gyms are closed at the time I go work so I do rate it for what it’s worth to me (5 stars)

Owner is disrespectful.Do not do business with them!

This place has been forgotten about by the owner. Machines are never cleaned and often don’t work. Even if they charge $1 a month you are best to stay away from here. If there were no other inexpensive options in the valley then maybe go here but there are so many other choices to go of places that actually value their members and take care of their facility.Unlike others, I never experience any issues with payments and had no trouble stopping services, because I took the time to read my contract and follow what was written.

Looking for a gym, just ran across this one online. I cant believe the owner responds to criticism the way he/she does on here. Clearly has a complex issue going on. Fyi, you might want to get with a consultant and learn how to run a business properly. Your doing enormous damage to your brand by getting online and arguing like a 10 year old with former clients. Anyone who checks your gym out online is going to be instantly turned off by your attitude. You clearly need serious help, both mentally and on the business side of the house. You have no business running a business.

Bad gym with horrible management. Do not recommend. The owner places signs across the gym that say : Dumbbells were not repacked so everyone has lost dumbbell privileges. Forget having to cancel your membership. This guy wont let you cancel and then sends you to collections and messes up your credit.

Great place to get your workout. Not fancy and definitely not a place to go waste your time. You get in, get your workout done and get out. I Best part is its open 24 hrs

Great local gym. You cannot beat the facility for the price. There is even a very convenient and affordable chiropractic office in the back.

The only positive thing about the place was that it was cheap. My boyfriend and I had memberships there and they were not letting us leave. We had to pay for two extra months after cancelling our memberships it was such a pain. Not to mention how dirty the place was. It always smelled like grease and fast food. It was full of creeps, too. Glad we switched gyms.Edit after owners response:It was two. No exaggeration. I remember considering I paid for them.

Legit the worst customer service, It will be the biggest thing that kills this gym. Dont treat your customers like trash if you want to run a successful business, especially when theres a bunch of newer and friendlier gyms opening up all around the valley.

Update:The owners literally cut the gym in half. Leg machines are almost non existent, as is most of other gym essentials.Moreover.... its always HOT!Im moving on to greener pastures.Ive been going to the Pharr Gym on and off since about 2002 and have yet to experience any issues with the staff, billing, or what not.No, the equipment is not state of the art but its functional which what Im looking for. The machines are not always clean but I do find its a few careless members who leave them in that condition. I joined because the gym is close to home, less than five minutes and not overtly populated as are other more trendy (and more expensive) gyms.Billing problems are avoided on my part because I do pay my gym dues on time.The staff is always friendly as are most of my fellow gym members.A word to the wise. Look around the gym before joining, if its not to your taste...dont join and do read your contract carefully to avoid billing problems.

Just want to send a shoutout to the owner of Pharr gym as well as its staff, ive been going to this gym off and on since 06 and let me tell you all, im one of them fellas that owe money from a previous contract and i still pay to this day even if it was back from 2010 and you know something? I really dont mind cause i LOVE this gym, the staff, the owner and his fam for the fact that they have opened their doors to me when there was no other gyms around (at that time) and within that time i have gotten to know these people and i really do enjoy being around them as well as the other members that walk in and out of this gym, my heart and prayers are constantly over that place because thats where i feel at home, where i can be me and i feel accepted and respected, this gym is my church so to speak, its where i fellowship with likeminded people and bring Glory to GOD through my training and meditations, i understand peoples frustrations or whatever but one thing is this, if you have a grievance of some kind its better to resolve it in person in a professional manner than to write a negative review calling that or those persons all kinds of filthy names cause at the end of the day were all trash, were all sinners, and we all need Our LORD JESUS to clean our hearts of all the filth thats coming out of our mouths, and to help shape our focus on getting the most out of each day through discipline and training, especially at The One The Only Pharr Gym! Terrible experience. Old equipment. Hot. Stale smelling business. Also, They make it a challenge to stop membership. From certified letters to 30 day notice. DO NOT fall for their ‘specials’. Not worth the trouble.

Worst gym in town. Do NOT sign up. For no contract.. they have hidden fees like crazy. How is a $30 cancelation fee not a contract. Id give it 1/2 a star if any at all. Horrible customer service. Misleading information at sign up.

This gym is crooked. Yes it’s cheap but if you miss a payment they charge late fees and bounce fees like crazy. The equipment is outdated, rusty and old to say the least. My girlfriend and I joined when it said they had no contract yet whenever we talk cancelation they bring up a contract. M advice to anybody seeking to join a gym DO NOT choose this one. There are much better places that are worth joining. The gym has a rusty smell to it and the fact that they downsized really didn’t help their case. You’re much better off going to your local high school for better equipment. We cancelled today and couldn’t be happier.

I was thinking about signing up for this gym but after reading the reviews and the owners response it shows how disrespectful and unprofessional the owner is. You need to learn how to be more professional no wonder your business has such bad reviews.

I dont know why everybody is complaining. Yall should really read your contract before signing simple as that. This gym isnt the fanciest, but it gets the job done. Im pretty pleased so far might even sign up for EFT.

Less than 10 dollars a month. All the equipment you need. Enough cardio. Plenty of free weights. Only flaw is it needs to recruit more female members but that would raise the price. Best gym for price

I was looking for a gym to join but Im glad I read some of these reviews. To the owner of Pharr Gym, sir/madam, you need to learn some manners and take a course in customer service. Majority of your reviews talked bad about the maintenance/cleanliness of your gym and the customer service. Based off you responses to the people who have reviewed you I see now why they reviewed you this way. There is no need to respond the way you did and therefore I will seek another gym to join. I have worked in customer service for the past 13 years just in case you question my knowledge for customer service. Your just lost a potential customer.

Good news is that its cheap. Bad news is that its cheap. You get what you pay for--a business that is run very lousy and try to nickel and dime customers in to paying more under threat of collections. Repulsive owner who ranks up there with the worst people on the planet.

There are some pros to this place but its really just the price, theres a lot of cardio machines, ooen 24 hours and that theres a little bit of free weight space (not much). Other than that, the equipment is old looking, it does have a very dirty feel to it (which I think is probably because its a very no nonsense youre there to workout kind of gym. Understandable but still kinda gross), theres no stretching space, theres few machines for people who dont like free weights and for no contract you still have a cancellation fee.Im having an issue right now where my partners card information was compromised so the bank sent him a new card and cancelled his card we have on file at the gym, we didnt get the new card in time to go to the gym and give them the new card information (which we were told is two weeks before your billing date) so we asked if we can go pay early to avoid late/bounced check fees....we can....but were still going to get those charges on our account and have to pay them, the money we pay today will be credit on our account. Which ok, I can understand having a strict policy like that but how when its something out of our control and we are willing to make a payment in person a couple of days before? Ill give credit to the young man I talked to though, he did seem like he was trying to figure something out and he understood our frustrations, but it seems theres no way they work with you in situations that you cant control. Apologies to the young man that had to deal with us on the phone, I really am sorry that youre on the front line for this.We do plan to cancel our memberships as soon as possible. And before anyone says we owe money, no we do not. Our billing date has not come up yet and there are no fees we havent paid to date. Avoid this place, its not worth it when they have so many extra fees and you cant even pay ahead to avoid them! I luckily havent had to deal with the owner but seeing the responses hes left to other reviews is appalling. Its amazing this place is still in business.

Dont do it. They will get you no matter what. Management are not kind people. I had my card stolen so bank issued me a new card. They penalized severely for missing a payment, no mercy. Because of that I asked to cancel account, they penalized even more...rip off... management wont care about anyone

Wow, there is an individual named Omar who on the evening of 09/13/2017 completely disrespected me as a person or client. I dont know who this person is, but the owner needs to take disciplinary action towards this persons attitude. He literally told Tu callate el hocico in a joking manner. I found this very disrespectful because i dot know him, and never have i dealt with such unprofessional. The new girl with glasses also accused me of not returning some equipment, when in fact I always return my equipment, and even some that is left behind by other members. The owner lost a lot of people during his renovation and will go out of business if he doesnt focus on customer service.

Owner is a piece of trash; he needs lessons in manners and customer service. Go to crunch or freedom fitness... Thank me later.

I attended here, and it has some pros and cons; pro being its cheap but i did have some random chargers in to my account, like i would get charged 9.61 a month then at random times i get charged 12 something a month ; con is being how the canceling fee is 30$ but i got charged almost 50$, i also didnt like how they cut off half the gym back then it was bigger and now its small cutting away alot of my favorite machines, staff is ok they new manners i didnt have problem, and the owner does check his equipment manking sure its ok

Overpriced and not Winter Texan friendly. We didnt get a membership here because they wanted us to sign a contract even though we plan to only be in this area 2 months.

In a restaurant, I over heard the owner(a chiropractor) boast about the contracts he has his customers sign allow him to take as much money as he wants out of his customers bank accounts. I would never allow that guy access to my account.

I wish I would have seen all these reviews before I started going to this horrible gym. The owner is a thief and will do anything at all to take an extra buck from his customers. He is a THIEF! Do not go to this gym and do not trust what they state about low payments, no contracts etc. believe me they will find a way to charge things to you or find a way to make it hard on you to cancel your membership. RATS!!!! PHARR GYM IS THE WORST!I pray that this man messes with the wrong person and gets a lawsuit that shuts down his stinking gym! He has ruined credits and robbed so many people via charges that are not valid!!

The gym is ill equipped, the staff is bad, the gym membership is 30 dollars for 2 weeks and 37 for a month, they dont offer military discount or even let you try out the gym first, here on leave and they really left a bitter taste in my mouth, go somewhere else
