I wonder what Laure Reichek would have to say about what this center has become. Catholic Charities is a racket.
The best help you can get
I rent a appt above the shelter, aside frome my layer filing criminal cases against miic, cots, for abuse of females. I guess it would turn out ok, should they ever follow rules and state laws!
2018-2019 This Took olace I havent been here since covid-19 hit. me and my ex where homeless i was 10 weeks pregnant and they did not want to help me they said come back when yiu 20 weeks pregnant I came back then we git a lady that said we dont take pregnant women I asked her if she could at least give me a bus pass to get to Santa Rosa to see if they would let me stay there for a few weeks like I have a family member that cares about me and I moved back to the South Bay into my two story house Im thankful that I have family that will let me back in there life with my baby but Im very upset that I was homeless they would not help me at all Im not a junkie and Im not alcoholic this place is for homeless that do drugs are alcoholics & Dont get me wrong they had meals for the homeless three times a day but I could see this place shutting down the next year or two not really a good location for a homeless shelter to be honest this place was not very well organized
Not completly using covid precautions. Big dorm with cots to sleep. But his spread covid when 30 people r keeping in one room coughing all night. Greatful for the resource but not happy about covid breeding.
I had gotten in to cots through an out reach worker named jefff. .the experience i had was troubleing to say the least.i was told it was a wet shelter .and they assign u a case manager..they talk a good pitch but when it comes down to really helping, all clients are expendable .and are treated as such the rules are
So Its basically a Homeless shelter, they do feed you three times a day, the staff for the most part is pretty cool, but you must follow the rules or they will ask you to leave right then. They have services that will help you find a job, place to live, and many other services. Just follow the rules and do your assigned choirs and youll be fine.
There are many good and many bad things about this shelter. Good thing are obviously that it provides beds, meals, laundry services (at designated times), second-hand clothing (when available), employment and housing resources, plus several other services for people in need. Bad things are that the waiting list is extremely long, and that some of the staff (especially one female social worker) are extremely unhelpful, callous, vengeful and overall tend to treat people like garbage. Some of the other staff make up for this with the kindness and humanity. Another bad thing about this place is the extreme strictness in certain aspects. Although thats somewhat understandable, some staff members take it way too far. Some of them are not at all understanding of peoples mental illnesses nor the consequences which this terrible behavior exhibited by some of the staff can have on people with mental issues! They are very inflexible and seem to treat everyone the same, no matter what the individual is going through! So if you have nowhere to go, then go to Mary Isaak Center... but if you have ANY other alternative at all - try not to end up in this place! You can still visit it (during designated hours) and use some of the resources this shelter provides, even without living there. Best of luck to everyone reading this and needing such services as Mary Isaak Center provides. It is not easy to be in that position, and the staff should be more compassionate - not treat people as if they wanted to end up being homeless and jobless!
Wonderful place. They put me up for the night, fed me like a king for three meals, and the residents chipped in enough for me to take Mendocino Public Transit to Bodega Bay. They were also extremely kind, caring, respectful, and welcoming to both my service dog and I. The night desk supervisor was rather strict, but I suppose a no nonsense approach is what you should have with overflow stays. He was still respectful and polite.
This is an adult and family housing shelter; they offer a roof over your head and 3 meals a day for up to 1 year, during which time they require you to participate in classes on financial services and renting a home and getting a job or job training - in short, it is their mission to help you put your life back together. Theyre very, very good at what they do! They rely on food, clothing and cash donations from the community and have some HUD affiliation (I think). They help people find housing, not just let them hang around indefinitely - this spurs people out of their depression and gets them back in action. A great organization, of which Petalumans may be proud.
Wonderful Loving and CARING Staff ! God Bless Mary Isaak / Cots
They threw away my birth certificate, my adoption papers, clothes, college school books and so much more. They didnt even give me all of the stuff that was in my locker when I left. Apparently homeless you dont deserve to have what they seem to be too much stuff. The only thing that made the place bearable was some of the other people that live there.
Sadly has become a rather dehumanizing place for people MOST AT RISK in the war on poverty... :(I wish it were not so... But things have turned steadily for the worst since the beginning of 2018...Many/most donations of in kind goods have been turned away or sent to goodwill or the dumps. Many donors have been alienated...No more clothes closet for residents.Clean towels locked away.No access to places to sit or socialize outside of meal times... Or smoking area...Even access to microwave shut down after 7 PM...Unjust dehumanization is on the rise...A Place to find a dry place to sleep...But a Very sad existance while the struggle to survive (and try to find afordable housing) gets tougher and tougher by the day...Most caring staff fired l or Quit since January...Now mostly rigid power tripping tyrants abuse and DEHUMANIZE without thought or care for the humans in their charge...Seemingly executives dont care...Residents have NO VOICE in the process besides grievance procedures.I am sad to say these things...They are only one reporters views...Mary gave all she had to build this place... Out of her compassionI think she would cry to know what has happened to it...:(
I have been staying at the center for a short time. Lots of help with health problems and finance. Thanks again for their help love them
We need more places like this in our communities. There are not enough rooms or services for those in need. MIC does a great job helping as many folks as they can get back on their feet.
Had it not been for MIC I would have died on the streets. Literally. Very grateful to the staff, nurses, counselling and all the friends I made there in 2009. I was homeless and on the streets for five years unable to work due to problems with alcohol and physical limitations. I have been sober since my stay there with a relapse in 2011 (3 weeks) and now almost 7 years continuous. I have a home, a Jeep and monthly SSSI/SSI pay. God bless America and the MIC!!
Theyre willing to love you until you are strong enough to love yourself.
Great selection of food and nice people serving!🛣️🆗🌅
Is there an up to date number I can call? I really need help and need to change my environment.
Ive been here for a lil over a month and I have nothing bad to say about this beautiful place
A great place for drug addicts to get a free meal. The centers heart is in the right place.
I think the place is a good asset to the community and if in the right hands with certain this tweaks this place of do wonders,But Im going to have to agree with the comment that was posted by the lady two months ago that a certain female staff are very insensitive to the people there with certain mental challenges and if she personally doesnt like you for any reason its down hill from there. I personally just heard they kicked a young lady out today for 7 days for missing her chore!! And she just started working and she has a mental issues so she forgot her chore and they kicked her out. The same money she was saving she now has to spend on a motel room ...Smh
They helped me get my life back
Helpful and informative
One Star
Good place for a free lunch
Great place if Marge is cooking.
Beware of Vile Shelter Manager Sylvia Montero ~This maniac of a woman brings her problems to work and find vulnerable weak homeless people to control and manipulate . She has rage disorder and absolutely LOVES and COVETS ALL CONFRONTATION. What a hiring mistake she is . She causes a lot more suffering and pain to the community she is supposed to help NOT HURT.SYLVIA MONTERO is SO corrupt violating homeless peoples rights and abusing her power is the norm over here.. Beware of this heartless snake evil permiates her soul . So jaded she his that she creates and manufactures conflict and striff. and she is in desperate need of psychiatric intervention for her mentally deranged violent rage disorder. For a staff member to WELCOME CONFRONTATION AND VIOLENCE is not normal. But for Corrupt TYRANT like Sylvia Monterro it is.What we isnt normal is How she so OVER EAGER to harass and Exit anyone who in her eyes isnt desirable to be a client here. How she is and how she routinely abuses her power is shameful and disgraceful. On July 30th Im sitting on a public sidewalk and she see Im sitting on the sidewalk and here is how she conducts herself on this day. she runs our of the shelter as if it were on fire just to see me sitting on the publically accessible sidewalk and TYRANT Sylvia Montero sees this and valls police for no reason except on her warped view thats. Corrupted she feels a need for police .Not only did Sylvia try to escalate matters she tried to persuade police to put us in jail because in her own words I captured on video and I quote take an all to jail, I dont care. When police showed up she told police I as trouble and other falsehoods trying her very best to escalate .. People Sylvia Montero will be sued for this and her Im getting a lawyer this week.. Ill keep you posted.#TyrantSylvia
COTS is awesome. Right now they are pulling people off the streets and giving them shelter from the cold and giving them dinner.
What are u gunna do its. Necessary men should be separated at bed
The dont really help the homeless anymore. Catholic charities has taken it over. Its now a wet shelter not good
