I have been using this shop since ~2008. I generally work on my vehicles at home, but certain things are beyond my skill set and/or I dont have the tools/software. Kauth and Mayeur has been the most professional place I have worked with. They will give you advice instead of asking for money. It is owned and operated by car enthusiasts.

Worked in the auto industry for almost a decade and always held Kauth & Meyer in high regard but recently they proved again they’re the best in the business on import service. Adam went FAR above and beyond helping diagnose and fix my BMW that had been incorrectly repaired at another import shop and even went to bat for me to get some parts and labor covered from the prior mistakes. A+ squad and technicians and we are fortunate to have them in Peoria!

I am originally from Michigan and on a long weekend trip K&M were able to schedule me in next day to refresh the wheels on my 330 touring. The work is impeccable, would never know how bad these wheels were rashed! For the price, no one in my area could do as amazing job hands down.

Been there twice with my BMW X5. Bother times unsatisfactory. Both times the vehicle had issues when I picked it up. If you have good luck with them, thats good. Me, I wont being going back. Ill go to dealership and pay a little extra, but know they are thorough. Since they also obviously lie, here are the exact true details.Visit one- vehicle on for oil leaks. They replace 3 different gaskets. Its. A 2013 vehicle and it was taken in fall 2020 (7 years old). I guess the fact that it isnt brand new says something negative about me..Anyways, pay my bill and go to leave start the vehicle and recognize that the audioproblem they describe. The entire information system, aka the LCD is black. I go back in and they come out to see the issue. They drive it back into the garage to check it out. After about 10-15 minutes they drive it back out. He tells me they dont know why it isnt working, but they didnt do anything to it. At one point this guy says How do I know it was working when you brought it in. Yep he said that to me! I did raise my voice at him at this point. They didnt have time to do anything more for me but agreed to have me bring it back in the next day. I leave and go back out to the vehicle. Start it up and the LCD is now working!! Go back in to tell them. Again he wants to come out and see it worked now. He says it must take a certain number of cycles to come back on?? I have no idea, since I dont work on vehicles for a living! The audio problem, or like one guy stated the issue with your radio, was a black infotainment screen. This controls almost everything in the vehicle!Visit 2 - I know I shouldnt have went back but I convinced myself it was a fluke last time. Take vehicle in because engine is running hot was the message that came up my radio. Drop it off, they call me shortly later and say they found the problem which was a crack in the coolant reservoir. He says they will have the part tomorrow and its a pretty quick job. Next day I dont hear anything. I do call them late in the day to see if its done. They say its not, now its going to be another day. Next day I do go in and pick it up, all good. Wife is driving vehicle that night, literally hasnt driven more than 10 miles total since picking it up and the the warning comes back on! It was now after hours so I call back the next day. They cant get me back in until the following week now. When I take it back in I do ask them if they test things out after doing work?? Very frustrating that this is second time that I pick my vehicle up and something is wrong!! I asked the guy dont you understand my frustration, he says yes, and I trying to take care of it. Not once has he acknowledged that they have any responsibility in any of this... Anyways, now they call me back and let me know that it needs a new thermostat and water pump. I asked about what I already spent and all he says is that was still necessary. I have no idea if that was true or not.. another 2 days its done and I pick it up. Never once in either occasion was there any hint of an apology, or even an acknowledgment that they did anything wrong. All of this is 100% accurate. The fact they took the time to write a lengthy response, without being totally accurate tells everything. The arrogance of this place is unreal.

I took a car there for engine not starting, based on recommendations from friends. Engine needed replaced, which was more than the value of the car. That part was not a big deal, not their fault the engine needed replaced, but I talked to a few different people there, and each person gave me some different type of a response. Both times someone told me they would call me back in some sort of a specified time, they never did. I decided to sell the car, as is, not running, and asked if anyone there wanted to buy it. Someone there made me a fairly low offer, and told me what I countered for it was out of line. They told me I could keep it there until it sold, so I drove in to get personal items out of it, at which point someone else there told me to have it off of their property in a week, or he was going to start charging me storage fees. I had it towed home the next day, and sold it in less than 48 hours for $300 more than I offered it to the person at Kauth & Mayeur. They probably do great work on cars, but communication was a challenge.

I took my Porsche to Kauth and Mayeur to be repaired. I called in advance to get an estimate on what it would cost to have the water-pump replaced because I had a leak under my car? I figured it may possibly be the water pump and just wanted to know for budgetary reasons what it might cost IF that was what where the leak was coming from. They gave me a price around $900 and I was OK with that. I took my car in to them and said it was leaking fluid and that I thought it might be the water pump. The girl at the desk said the mechanic that normally works on those was gone on vacation and they may not be able to get to it for a week, and I was OK with that. Time goes by and the girl at the desk calls and says there is an issue with a pulley and we need to replace it also, so I said fine, which put the repairs back a couple days. As more time passes the girl calls back and say we replaced your water pump, but THATS NOT WHERE THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM... I was slightly stunned... I asked her, You mean to tell me you replaced the water pump with out diagnosing the leak first?????? The she said would you like us to diagnose the leak????? Once again, I was stunned... I said yes thats why I brought the car to you in the first place... She calls back later that day and says, its your radiator that is leaking... I replied, thats fine but I am not paying for the water pump replacement. Her response was, that is why you brought the car in, you said the water pump was bad... At this point I asked to talk to the owner Michael Benet. He called back and asked what the problem was, I said you replaced my water pump and it was not what was wrong with the car, his response was you brought the car in and asked to have the water pump replaced... I said I did not, I asked what it would cost to have the water pump replaced as a worse case scenario.... He said to me, people come in here all the time with internet diagnosiss and we do the work... I couldnt believe that he even said that to me... It is my belief that you take your car into an auto mechanic, its their job to diagnose the problem.... AM I correct in this assessment???? So now I threaten to sue him, he tells me he will hold my car hostage until he gets paid for the work he has done. I have them fax me a invoice. I call them to make payment so I can get my car back. The girl demands cash only payment. So now I have to go in to the shop, so I ask the Peoria Police for assistance on the transaction, and they were wonderful, I paid cash and had the car towed to another shop I can trust. My question is who is in the wrong here, the mechanic for not diagnosing the problem, or me for just asking a question ahead of time and them assuming I knew what I was talking about...

These guys rock. I recently was traveling from Davenport IA to Atlanta when my passenger side windshield wiper suddenly quit working. I called the Mercedes dealership The Autohaus in Peoria, Il while about 50 miles out. The service dept said bring car on by and would be able to get me in. Once there the service guy was rude and said if I didn’t have an appointment they would not be able to see me. A customer there suggested I call Kauth & Mayuer, I did and these guys told me to come right over. Within 15 minutes I was in and out. They did not even charge me because it was an easy fix. I suggest taking your import to these guys.

I was looking for someplace to go in Peoria besides AutoHaus where Ive had repeatedly bad service and thankfully I was referred to Kauth & Mayeur! Lee Caps review says it all. This shop wants to do all kinds of guessing, diagnostics etc, all at the expense of the customer. My experience was very much the same. I cant think of another business that can charge you (a lot) and not actually fix the problem. Their invoice shows NO detail of the diagnostics actually performed. I was called back by someone telling me they thought that the A/C problem was related to an M module. Is there such a thing? The only reference I ever found in Google searches was an M module related to the telephone system - not very likely related to A/C. In Peoria, you are pretty much stuck with this shop or the stealership. By the way, the A/C problem has been solved for $79 by another shop in Peoria that specializes in oil changes! If for some strange reason this post is responded to by K&M, I gave them several opportunities to call me, explain, and/or refund the ill-gotten money they took from me. On the plus side, theyre friendly and courteous - but Id prefer to really just have my cars fixed.

Peoria’s best kept secret is this Bosch shop. You have to travel great distances to find more knowledgeable techs than k&m for import makes. They’ve been here a long time and it shows. The secured lot is one of many reasons I choose these guys for my cars. Just ask your friends and neighbors about them.

Great place to come to, the two gentlemen at the front always welcome me by name. Have taken my car there for years and always walk out with outstanding service and knowing the job was well done. They have a small amount of employees all with extensive knowledge on anything you can think of with cars. They always know how to fix the problem and probably be the cheapest in town doing it. I have an older BMW that I bought used and felt like I was ignored the first time I went to the BMW dealership with an issue. I little googling brought me to Kauth and Mayeur. Doug and Robbie were both extremely nice and knowledgeable the first time and have been ever since. I recently moved to Texas, but still coordinate any repairs or maintenance that needs to be done for when I am back in Peoria. Ive found the prices more reasonable and the experience much more enjoyable that any other auto repair shop Ive ever been to. HIGHLY recommend.

Honest, professional, and experienced service; highly recommended for anyone looking to have work done on their European import, whether it be a simple diagnosis or a custom aftermarket install. K&M even provide shuttle service back and forth when your car is being worked on. Doug and Robbie are stellar, ask for either. I dont know anyone else in Peoria whom with I would trust my Volkswagen - fresh off a limited warranty! Plus, theres always a nice car in the lot, so chances are when you stop by youll see a Ferrari, Porsche, or Lotus :)

This shop is extraordinary. I was so relieved when I found out there was a Mini-Cooper repair shop in Peoria. My Countryman was due for scheduled maintenance and I needed to leave town later in the week for a long road-trip. The gentleman I spoke to on the phone was able to fulfill my needs and get me scheduled in with ease. I dropped the Mini off in the morning, and one of their staff shuttled me to work. Just after lunch I was told the car was ready to pick up and the same guy picked me up at work and drove me back to my car that evening. They were competitively priced and extremely informative. The techs had topped off all of my fluids knowing that I had a long drive ahead of me and they also ensured that my tires were safe and properly pressured. Ill be coming back to K&M with my wifes Toyota for service too.

I have a complicated older car I like to work on myself, when I can. I needed some help figuring out what was causing the issues I was having and to fix the things I dont have the tools or skills to fix. Its always something with these older sports cars. Doug was so patient with me describing what all the symptoms were that were affecting my treasured car, taking many notes then carefully reading back to me to be sure everything was correct. They fixed everything I couldnt and advised me what needed to be done regarding the things I felt like could fix, as per our discussion. Excellent customer service.Last year K&M did a very good job on my VW GTI.This year when my NEW Jeep Wrangler broke down I decided to have them look into it. My cars AC was blowing warm air. K&M quoted me $140 to evacuate and recharge which should cure the problem. When work was completed, the problem still existed. K&M suggested I bring the car back to replace a suspected bad relay/module for $500+, charge, although no guarantee that that would be the fix needed. I reluctantly agreed given the exploratory nature of troubleshooting being offered and potential cost spiral. An appointment was set for the cars return.I was then given a Bill for the evacuate and recharge work over $300 which I was not expecting. Long story short, management claimed that the $140 estimate I was given was a mistake citing many rationales for justification. The bill was adjusted to $196.28,still more than the $140 quote nevertheless. I still have an AC blowing warm air problem to show for in the end despite all of my wait time at K&Ms shop and what I was charged for.I have no reason to believe that much time and material was expended but was all that really necessary? For example, the car had type 134A already so why evacuate if the refill to be used is compatible? Why fill to the brim with 134A when partial fill would do if just to check warm or cold air blow? Done as such was so wasteful, costly and time--consuming to customers. I didnt think its a skills issue because demonstrable and positive work results would be the norms that one would expect from a reputable business such as K&M. But errors can be made.As for the return appointment, I had discontinued it due to the above narrative. I just wished I was treated right in this instance so I could have given a 5-star rating instead.

After years of paying for dealer service rates I decided to try K&M. I was looking for a shop with the outright knowledge and skill to make repairs to my 2008 7 series BMW and came across them through a google search. I was happy to learn that k&m has a full range of factory tools for my BMW and the repair was made with ease. Labor prices were fair at 89/hour easily beating the previous dealers I have worked with. Looking forward to working with these guys again.

I Took a 1980 450 SL to them that needed a lot of little things. It was my wifes retirement gift and I wanted her to be able to jump in the car and not worry about anything! They went over the car and repaired and replaced until everything was like new. She has loved driving it and is impressed with how well it runs and how everything works. They did upgrade the radio and had the original sent out to have Bluetooth added so she could listen to xm radio through her phone.. Great service and great price.

I made an appointment two weeks ago to have aftermarket parts installed on my Honda and the day of the appointment the service writer informs me that they can’t do the work due to a management policy change?!? At the time the appointment was made I provided my phone number and at NO time did anyone from this business contact and just today they claim they didn’t have my phone number to contact me. I will not do business with this shop or recommend them to anyone else.

July 26th I took my car for an oil change service to K & M. Even though, the oil change service here is expensive being a non dealership shop, I took my car here thinking I would be getting good service and was also recommended by family. I thought I had a decent experience with them until I started getting an oil leak from July 28th. They had assured that everything looked perfect and my car was in good condition after the service and nothing else was needed after the oil change. Hence I thought the oil leak must be residual oil and just decided to observe. Sure enough I had to call K & M since there was a puddle of oil in my garage and oil levels were down in the car. When I call them to set up an appointment, they would only give me an appointment after a week as they were too busy which was fine I guess but they also told me that they will charge me an inspection charge of 100 plus dollars to check where the leak is from ( mind you that my car had an oil leak only after the oil change service). Since it was a week before my appointment, I decided to take my care for inspection to a friend of mine who owns his own auto shop. Without touching anything and only with observation, I was told that the oil filter gasket was not fitted properly and a few minor things which werent done properly hence the leak. So I took my car the same day to K and M and told them about it and they were nice enough to take my car back for about 10 minutes to do something which controlled the leak for a day of 2. I was however told to keep my appointment with them the following week. On the day of the appointment after they inspected the car, i was given an estimate of 1600 plus dollars to replace a bunch of things in my car when i was told 3 weeks ago that everything was great in my car. Well and they also charged me 100 plus for inspection, This was very fishy and hence I had to take it to the dealership to have them look at my car before I would spend 1600 bucks. The dealership took a thorough look at it and said they did find a leak and it was mainly the oil filter which was leaking and recommended another oil filter change which actually solved the problem. But it was just one mistake of not doing it properly to begin with my K and M. They refuse to say that they made a mistake and after spending 300 plus dollars, it was the oil filter change which wasnt done properly. You guys must be good but I am definitely not of that opinion.After the above review, Mike who is the owner of K and M set up an appointment with me and agreed about the faulty oil filter and offered me a free oil change service the next time. He also said that he will take care of the inspection cost which they charged me to have a look at my car after the initial oil change. Mike was also kind enough to take my vehicle in and personally show me a few oil leaks and a possible coolant leak which he offered to repair the next time when I am ready for it. He explained why they were wanting to change a few things in the car in my previous visit and I thought his explanation was valid. I am going to give them another try in the future. I’ve taken multiple cars to them (Jetta GLI and Jetta TDI) with a range of repairs and have always had great service with informative updates on the repair process. I am responding to the owners response concerning Ryan and my car. First of all I dont believe I made any promises. Ryan was only trying to help our frustrations with the services we have been receiving from K&M. Ryan did change the comment about the miles on the speedometer. It is true the speedometer doesnt work. When we told Ryan we had no doubt someone took our car for a joy ride and obviously put miles, other than test driving, on the car, he wasnt aware of the speedometer not working. I dont believe I said he had no idea what was broken on the car or the state of the repairs because he did from conversations with us. Only that he didnt know about the speedometer being broken. How convenient to drive someones car when there is no way to check the mileage. We have always given people the benefit of the doubt but this is ridiculous. For some reason the last few times we have taken the car in for service, we get it back with something else wrong with it that wasnt wrong when we took it in. I will explain a few incidents. I took the car in and when I went to pick it up, an employee ask me if I had hit an animal, which I DID NOT. He proceeded to tell me the lower front fender was cracked and the fog light had fallen out. That, was not cracked when I took it in. I of course complained and was told a fender would be ordered. My car was there for several weeks. I was then told the wrong one came in so another one would be ordered from California so it would take awhile before it would get there. Again it was there for weeks. Then the second one was the wrong one. So instead of ordering the proper one the employee GLUED it back together. Who gets a car back with parts glued ? I still havent received a fender. We just let it go like fools. Another time I had service I picked up the car and when I got in the car, the seat was all the way back and the steering was tilted all the way up, and the casing that covers the seat controls was detached from the seat. The employee went out and said he just had to plug it in. It then worked. The excuse I got for the casing detached was they are made cheaply so it doesnt last long. Another time I took the car in the seat wouldnt work again. I was told a diagnostic was done and we needed a new seat motor. Once I got it home my husband checked it over and the plug was disconnected again. So he plugged it in and it worked. Then we noticed a leak and my husband crawled under the car and the belly pan was missing. He called the shop and was told, that year of car didnt have a belly pan which wasnt true. We knew there had been one on the car. We were told one would be ordered. Again it took weeks and two times to get the correct pan. We were told the employee paid for it out of his own pocket. I sure wouldnt pay for something I didnt do. As far as the response from the owner about the belly pan was replaced from crash damage OF THEIR DOING is a fradulent statement. We DID NOT crash our car. And also there was an area thinning on the drivers seat where it gets rubbed when you get in and out of the car. I would always lean forward as to not wear a hole in it and when I got the car back a big hole was torn in that area. No one mentioned that to me. I talked to I believe Mike the owner and he did nothing but patronized me. Since then their lawyer has called my phone requesting to talk to Ryan. The lawyer left his name and a case number. I have been adviced they will take legal actions. I will never take my car there again or ever recommend them to anyone. They dont deserve even one star. As God as my witness this statement is true.

I wish I could give less than a star, because this company doesnt even deserve that. My buddy took his 2002 VW Golf 1.8T in to get a clutch done. The first time they fix it they tell him he can pick it up but that the slave cylinder is leaking in the bellhousing. When he returns it back to them, they tell him the pilot bearing is broken somehow due to the tech that attempted to pull it to fix the slave cylinder. The clutch has now gone out 3 different times with this company promising to fix it only to leave him with $3k+ in bills and it still doesnt work properly. We trusted this shop through word of mouth and will never go here again. The owner showed up in a Ferrari to tell my friend to never come back again, after we complained that the service was horrible. What a joke. I never write reviews for anything anywhere, but this was such a mess that I think people need to know to NEVER go here.

I have never left a bad review. But I feel ppl should know what kind of place this is. When you walk in the door they kill you with kindness. But dont be fooled. Ive taken my vehicle there sevral times and every time I pick it up there is something else wrong. Then the last time I picked it up they told me the controls for my seat no longer worked. They worked fine when it was dropped off. When I got home I noticed the panel was loose and they unhooked the wires for the seat controls to work. I plugged it back in and it worked fine. These ppl sabotage cars to get more business. If this has happened to you please use your voice and get this place shut down. It is not rite to take advantage of ppl in this way. If I was not 100% sure of this situation I promise I would not leave this review. Also if I dont leave at least one star on the review it wont post. I would give them negative stars if possible.

I have done buisness with K & M for some yesrs. My advice to everyone is to be very careful. I always get an estimate for repairs before I give them my vehicle. Last few times I have taken anything in, they are 80 to 100 % over their estimate. Last time in they charged me $100.00 to pull a spark plug out that I did not ask to be removed. Im forced to do more of my own work. Be very careful.Got a call from Doug today who said he didnt like my review. I have never said that K & M was dishonest nor do I now. I have done buisness with these guys for at least 15 years as ï have 3 VWs in the garage.

I took my s600 Benz there light was on they tried to over charge me and didnt even correct problem, light came on before I pulled of lot, I eventually took it to dealership got it fixed less than half of what they wanted, never again, just a sideline shop with a fancy name....
