Coming from someone who has the knowledge, but not the time, to repair automobiles old and new, my experience with Car Tex Automotive gives me the impression that they are extremely honest, and will go out of their way to save you a buck, even to their detriment. I have no reservations in recommending them to anyone in need of auto-repair.

This mechanic does not follow proper procedures when it comes to fixing your vehicle. I took my car to get my timing belt changed and some cv joints replaced and ended up with a broken motor. I picked up my vehicle after it was serviced and a few miles down the road the car rapidly over heated in the middle of the freeway and my engine shut down. All of my radiator fluid leaked out and my car wouldnt start. I towed the vehicle back to their shop and they said it was a bad radiator and that the drain plug was not screwed right. It was a brand new radiator I had purchased 3 months ago from the dealership. If it was bad then i would have known right away. I asked him if there was anything that he did while changing my timing belt that could have caused my car to over heat and he said no. I asked him to be honest with me and told him that i just wanted my vehicle repaired. He still said no. I decided to read the repair manuals. I found out that for my particular car it says that to get to the timing belt you have to remove the cooling fan and also for my vehicles model the radiator fluid had to be drained out prior to taking the fans off. I showed him two different repair manuals both stating the same procedures and they just said my mechanics are not going to follow every step. They said that they did not follow those procedures to repair my vehicle. They refused to take responsibility for what happened. Let me tell you having your car overheat in the middle of a Texas freeway is no joke. Do not take your car here. It is run by dishonest people. I am filing a small claims suit against them in hopes that they will make things right.

A buddy of mine had his motor replaced with a used one from here. They replaced the motor knowing the mounts were all broken and didnt do the repair at that time which will reduce the hrs. charged. They forgot to put his wheel lock back. I work at a shop and I was working on my friends brakes and was missing the lock. I went down there and ask them for his wheel lock. The lady gave me the run around saying shes short handed and did not have time to look for his lock. Saying its been 4 weeks so she doesnt know. 1st. You dont need a mechanic to see if the wheel lock fits a lock nut. 2nd it should of been there in the first place. I went next door to get lug nuts at standard. I come out and they have a box of at least 50 wheel locks they are trying to fit. I said you could of just given be the box of locks and I could of done this in five minutes instead of giving me the run around.

The most honest mechanic in the Greater Houston Area. Absolutely great people. I have done business with them for about 9 years. I bring every vehicle to them. My family uses them. We travel from Richmond, La Porte, Pasadena, & Bellaire. They are always the best priced when I have had to bid out the work because it was a major item like a transmission or a/c ect.... They also follow up on their work and will fix anything that they work on if the customer think that something is not exactly right. They go out of their way to make you feel like family and show their appreciation.

I used CarTex Automotive located on Main Street in Pearland, but it only took once to learn how dishonest and fraudulent the business is run.I took my 2006 F150 into this automotive repair facility to diagnose and repair a rather loud “ticking” noise coming from the motor on the driver’s side. While I consider myself mechanically inclined and knowledgeable concerning vehicle issues, I simply did not have the time to work through the trouble shooting steps needed to determine the exact cause of the “ticking,” so upon the recommendation of a client, I took my truck to CarTex Automotive. I was initially told the diagnosis would cost me $100. After three days with my truck at CarTex, I was told by the owner/manager that the oil pressure was low and they needed to remove the driver side valve cover to look at the cam shaft and timing belt which would cost an additional $75, which I approved. After a week went by with my truck still at CarTex, I finally received a call from the owner/manager informing me that metal shavings had been found around the inside edge of my valve cover and my cam shaft was in bad condition. But most of all, I was told verbally and in writing that I needed a new motor. However, the owner/manager told me they could try replacing the timing belt and tensioners for around $1700 but could not guarantee it would stop the ticking noise.I quickly picked up my truck, but not before paying $175 for the diagnosis, which was $100 for the basic diagnostic and an additional $75 for removal of the driver side valve cover; and I made sure the owner/manager wrote it all down on the receipt for me. I then drove the truck to my office, which is only 5 blocks away from CarTex, and popped the hood to make sure they put everything back as it was. But there was really no need to worry since they never even touched the valve cover. All of the dirt and soot that normally collects from driving the vehicle clearly remained evenly dispersed over the entire motor, including the air intake and vacuum hoses that crossed over the untouched valve cover that I paid and extra $75 to have removed in order to learn my truck needed a new motor. I ran my finger down the valve cover and the soot easily came off. If anyone had touched the vacuum hoses, air intake or valve cover, the dirt and soot would have easily been disturbed; but it wasn’t.The following day I dropped my truck off at a shop in Houston and within just a few hours received a call from the mechanic informing me my truck was repaired and ready for pick up at a cost of just under $100. The source of the ticking noise was solely the result of a single defective spark plug.I would not recommend taking a go-cart to this automotive repair shop much less your vehicle. Good luck otherwise.

I have taken my Volkswagen 2006 Touareg to CarTex many times, occassionally for oil changes; but 2 xs for brakes and fan belt. In replacing the brakes they had to get a special tool to replace brakes, without charging me for it!! repairs have been reasonable and no apppointment necessary.
