This auditorium is really beautiful. Its a bit close so if you have problems breathing in coded areas you could experience that. The talk I attended was really insightful, and it was great it was open to the public. People attending these tasks are extremely brilliant so do not get discourage of keep coming if you are not able to follow the whole talk.
This auditorium is beautiful. And literally any seat gives a decent view of the stage. But the real gem were the 7 men gracing that stage. Absolutely one of the best live performances I have EVER been blessed to see. Naturally 7 are the 9th wonder of the world. Truly a magical night. Thank you for inviting them, CalTech! Also a huge THANK YOU to the very cordial and patient event/auditorium ushers and will-call attendants. The night was such an amazing way to end the weekend and usher in the new week. Also, the CalTech grounds are gorgeous.
Good venue. Hope it reopens soon.
I go for.the Colman Concert series ( October-April) and have attended some other programs. Always interesting and fun. Parking for program is convenient even with current construction off to side of venue.I highly recommend trying out some of their offerings.
CalTech
This is a really cool space. We went to go to the talk about the Spitzer space telescopes mission finale.
Good area to walk about.
Great for its intended purpose as a lecture hall. Amazing that my kid will be going to Caltech. Go Beavers!
This is the biggest room in Caltech which can contain 500 people. (I know its small compared to other school). Next to it is famous gene DNA pool at the west side. At the south side its a big lawn which the commencement happens every year. The auditorium has talks year round and most of them is open to public. Just check Caltech for more information.
Great auditorium for viewing events. The seats are a bit dated and not very comfortable
Amazing art deco architecture and some very informative lectures
Good acoustics and sound system. Comfy seats. Quick exit difficult
You should have been there the fireworks were fantastic
There are many series of shows hosted here. Musical groups from the oldest still around to new, entertainment (the flying Karamazovs for example was always amazing fun), and the Watson lectures the bring Caltech specialists in to discuss what theyre working on...
I enjoyed Celtic music here. The space had great sound, easy to find w/ google maps, and they had warm beverages on a very cold evening.
A beautiful place and great music (The Kingston Trio) for a reasonable price.
Went there for science Olympiad state competition for past two years. Great place to visit!
Moschen in Motion not up to marketing postcards promise. Ive seen much better at the Beckman before!
This is place operates some public events that are organized by Caltech. Inside of the auditorium gives the feeling of an old opera house, but its modified with latest tech spotlights.
Its a nice facality. Well kept, Okay parking. Bathrooms are not adequate for the size of the theater.
This is an historic auditorium located on the iconic Caltech campus. Seating, sound and lines of sight are not exceptional, but they are satisfactory. But its not so much the venue itself but the great speakers and events Caltech brings to its campus that sets Beckman Auditorium apart. For example, in 1998 my fifth grade daughter and I attended a lecture given by legendary professor Stephen Hawking. Caltech Chancellor David Baltimore attended along with Governor Pete Wilson. Nobel Prize winner Kip Thorne attended, along with several other Nobel Laureates. More than four thousand people showed up that day to this barely advertised event, filling not only Beckman Auditorium but Ramo Auditorium as well, with the rest listening to professor Hawking through loudspeakers set up on the lawn outside. To see and listen to this giant of physics was awesome. He is truly the rock star of science that people make him out to be. All in all a fantastic experience I and my then ten year old daughter will never forget.Update March 13, 20018:Professor Hawking died early today. Due to his lifelong battle with ALS we were lucky to have him for as long as we did.
Great lecture and performance location in the heart of Caltech.
