Hutch and Chris are really good at what they do. Maybe too good. I knew I was going to have to spend some money on my repair. I figured that I would just go in and get a estimate and be on my way, and not having to wait a few hours. Chris figured out my problem and said Id be out of there in 30 minutes. I gladly gave up my money, and regained my peace of mind. If you have a repair problem, see Hutch. I wouldve paid more for my repair, he said save your money. He didnt even try to oversell me on anything. Good shop and good staff.

Hutch is a super helpful guy. Talked me through his repairs in detail and discussed what to do to maintain the car until next time. One of the best things about this place is they discuss your means and tell you what is necessary and what they can do for you. Hutch is clearly super knowledgeable and doesnt try to add any unnecessary work. Im very impressed and would return here absolutely.

Very friendly and informative people here. Prices are reasonable and you get good quality service. I came in for an oil change, it was 65 for synthetic oil and everything else. then the gentleman that helped me went out of his way to check other components of my car and give me great advice. I also had an issue with a leaking tire but they patched it up real quick for $25.

We had just moved into the neighborhood so didn’t have a mechanic nearby. We had a sudden issue with our radiator and we were fortunate enough to come across Hutch & Lisa. I was going to buy a used car from a private owner. I basically didnt have any car knowledge, this was my first time to buy a car. So I came in for professional opinions. They were nice and charged me 65 bucks. One week later, I needed to change the oil and there is something wrong with the drivers door. Moreover, I was told the tires were old and needed to change. I called to complain but they didnt think its their responsibility.

Was on my way to get vaccinated and got a flat, pulled into Delmar randomly and Chris jumped into action and plugged the hole in my tire in a matter of 5 mins!!

I was driving from San Francisco to Pasadena Friday Jan 10th. heading to Bricks LA. My Ford 150 truck had mechanical problems as I was going up the grape vine on the 5 fwy. I called AAA+ to tow it Del MarAuto and Radiator shop. Hutch is great. He is professional, honest and the quality of the workmanship is awesome. I called him multiple times to get an eta on my truck. Hutch and his team are the best! Any time I have a problem with my car, whether minor or major, Hutch knows the solution. And unlike the reputation a lot of mechanics get for trying to cash in on their customers ignorance of cars, Hutch is a thoroughly stand up guy who understands what it is to be a working person with bills to pay. Ive had several things go wrong at once in my car, and Hutch tells it like it is -- whats urgent, what can wait, whats the best deal. He doesnt try to get you for all the pennies youve got. Also, on many, many, many occasions Ive dropped in at the end of the day (right around 6PM), when they are trying to close. Hutch will stop what hes doing and take a look at whatever the problem may be. If he thinks its serious, he takes the car and works on it. If its not serious, he gives me a time to bring it back. The service they offer at Del Mar Auto is true quality. They dont treat you like customers, they treat you like friends. I would recommend that anyone who doesnt know much about cars or the cost of fixing them go to Del Mar Auto and get a quote. They will give you the best deal and the best service in town.

It is hard to find places with reliable mechanics who will be honest about what is wrong with your car. This is one of them. The service and level of expertise was excellent. I came in needing my air conditioner fixed in an afternoon, and they came through for me! Definitely a great place to check out for any automotive needs. What a great place! I had a hunch my oil was a bit low, so I swerved in their handy driveway. A young mechanic came out immediately to offer assistance. I told him I only needed to check my oil, didnt want to be a bother. I had no kleenex to wipe the stick with, so he stepped in (wiping the stick with his fingers!) and we found out my car was BONE DRY! Yikes! Everyone I spoke to was so friendly. I didnt have time to get an oil change then and there (although it was a pretty good deal) and my 2 year old son was in the car, so I asked if I could buy a couple quarts and be on my way. Another very friendly guy poured it in for me. I really appreciate how they were all so helpful and attentive, even though I wasnt a big sale. They could have charged a fortune for the oil, but really helped a busy mama out, and thats so rare these days. If I lived near here, I would take my car here. Absolutely.

It is incredibly hard to find a good mechanic these days especially one that holds honesty, integrity, and work ethic to a high regard. Del Mar Auto is filled with exceptionally friendly people that not only care about getting quality work done but also doing it in a timely manner. Ive had to bring my truck in twice with serious issues and both times Del Mar exercised great communication to let me know the status of the repair as well as the severity of it and which options were in my best interest. Moreover, they provide a personable experience that you can only find in a place that actually cares as opposed to places that are just trying to get your money. Job well done gents.

Hutch is absolutely the only auto mechanic that I really trust. Hes as honest as the day is long, and when he tells me that my or my wifes car needs something, I just tell him to go ahead and do it. His prices are more than fair, and generally much lower than I can get the work done elsewhere (I have shopped around on occasion just to see). Ive referred many friends and associates to him, and they all phone and tell me how happy they are with his services. And the best thing is, his shop is only a couple of blocks from where we live.Hands down, this place is the best, and there arent enough superlatives in the English language to describe how much I value Hutch and Del Mar Auto.

Lisa and her brother Hutch run this place with a friendly, relaxed style. Anything about a repair that one cant understand, Hutch is willing to explain carefully. I dont remember ever bringing them a problem they couldnt fix. They dont do body work. Otherwise, its a full service shop. The prices are fair. The only reason I gave them a four and not a five is because they are often busy, but they do deserve their popularity.

Went there a few months ago to change the car oil. They told me that my engine needs tune up and a belt also needs to be replaced. We didnt have any trouble with our car before having this fixes done but the last few months have been a disaster. We had to take our car to be repaired four times so far. All of these problems are related to the loose connections or broken tubes that happened during the tune-up. The first loose connection happened immediately after getting out of their shop! I went back and they reconnected it. The last incident happened yesterday when huge smoke came off our engine and the low coolant light turned on. It was a very stressful situation and we ended up paying a lot of money to fix the loose tube. Oh, did I mention that the belt they replaced also broke in a week!Not bad people, just dont know their job.

I drive 25.9 miles (one way) from home to have Hutch work on my car. He is ABSOLUTELY the best BMW car repair/maintenance guy in the entire San Gabriel Valley. I trust him completely with my Z3 and he has never failed. I made the mistake of going to some reputable BMW specialist closer to home, and ended up being towed to that shop three times for the same thing. Learned my lesson...Hutch is fair, honest, reasonable, witty, and darn good at his job. He stands behind his work, every time.

I came here for the first time to get an oil change and wow, I must say that the service is very honest and welcoming. Im very happy with how Hutch and his staff handled my cars needs. They gave me a quick overview of some potential problems that I was inquiring about and also gave me helpful suggestions on what I can do (by contacting the mechanic I purchased my car from and ask about the timing belt) without immediately offering that they can provide the service I might need. Unlike your regular Jiffy Lube folks who would give you a big tally of what they can charge you on if theres a thing or two thats not working well in your car, Del Mar Auto provides a friendly approach and doesnt overwhelm or even scare you if youre not the most familiar with cars like myself. On top of that, Hutch even gave me a first-time customer discount on my oil change! I am definitely coming back here for future oil changes or car problems.

Hutch is great, truly one-of-a-kind. The whole staff is excellent and the overall experience is amazing.

They instantly figured out what was wrong with my car. It was a battery issue, and as the battery was still under warranty someplace else, they sent me on my way, no charge (haha battery issue, no charge!) I will go back and I recommend them to friends.

Here we have two senior citizens in a 1963 car driving from SF to New Mexico in the heat of the summer when the cooling system refuses to work in that heat at any highway speed over 55 mph. The internet suggests Del Mar. We shown up in the morning without an appointment and Hutch directs an employee to do nothing else but get us on the road with a radiator rod out to remove accumulated junk. The shop is fully busy but we get moved to the front of the line. Four hours later we are moving east and the problem is corrected for just the price I thought it would be. If this is how strangers from out of town are handled, imagine how locals must find Del Mar. Thanks Hutch!!

Hutch has taken care of two consecutive vehicles over 9 years and 200,000 miles of driving. Always fair, always safety first and trust has been long established for me.I like to say that Hutch is, my favorite guy that I hate to see. Cars need to be maintained and Del Mar is where you should go.

Ive been taking my car here for years, and the only complaint I have is they are too busy...every time I take my car in (especially on the weekend), every spot that could hold a car has one, and they actually turn people away because they are too busy, but that just speaks to their work, which is solid at a reasonable price...Hutch and Lisa do a great job taking care of me, and Ill keep taking my car to them :)
