I cant say thank you enough to Dr. Painter and all of the staff at Animal Emergency & Urgent Care. My rescue pup had an extremely severe case of pancreatitis, they had to keep him for 6 days but he pulled through thanks to the thorough care he received under Dr Painter and all of the staff. They were very gentle and sweet with my baby, and they truely care about the animals!! I would recommend them to anyone and who loves their pets as if they were your children.. Having Leo home and well is the best Christmas present of all!!
Having to take a pet in an emergency is never easy. Especially when youve never met the vet that needs to help your animal. We chose this hospital after our dog was acting lethargic and vomiting. They ran there tests and through X-ray noticed some blockage in my dogs intestines we were devastated to here our two your old dog was having this issue and needed exploratory surgery to see what could be done. They operated on my boy for two and a half hours. They started surgery 45 minutes before closing. They didnt kick us out to go home or our vet who we didnt know when they would be able to do surgery. They just wanted to fix our dog.My dog has started the road to recovery and is doing well. He is healing well because they treated him like the family pet. As they cared for him they would hand feed him pet him and even snuggled a bit. Not to mention let him meet the cat they have there as he has cats at home which that made him happy. After surgery was done everything was explained to me and ideas were exchanged. One of the vets literally left to get her daughter came back with her. Got my dog ready for transport. Then she stayed after that till they opened the next day to finish her job. My dog gets excited to see the whole staff. He really doesnt mind going to them. I cant tell you how awesome that is for an animal that was in distress to trust the people that fixed him.He wasnt a patient he is family to them. They saved my dogs life. It might be there job but they love it and it shows. Thank you to the whole staff. We will be doing visits but hopefully always healthy ones from this point forward but if not I know hes safe and will be well again.
We had an emergency tonight with our puppy and went here in a rush to save our puppys life. We get there and the place was closed. No lights. The phone number is disconnected and I now had to go almost 10 more minutes to somewhere else. Normally a ten minute drive wouldnt be a huge inconvenience, but tonight those 10 extra minutes cost my puppys life. Update this for people!
This is an amazing facility and has wonderful staff. If your fur babies are in need of emergency after hours in the palm harbor area I would recommend this clinic. Dr. Painter is one of the most compassionate people let alone veterinarians that I have ever come into contact with. She is also very knowledgeable and has one of the best bed side manners I have come across. For doing emergency medicine for so many years she has the knowledge and the skills to treat or stabilize almost any medical condition. Dr. Painter also does not have the burn out experienced with other ER veterinarians. All of the technicians Mindy, Tanisha, Dara, Jamie, Faith, Sam and Audrie are very competent and compassionate as well. This is a place to bring your pets if you wish for them to be cared for as if they are with family. The team works together really well and the energy is so healing. I wouldnt bring my fur babies anywhere else.
We had a very positive experience taking our elderly cat here within the past year
Thank you so much for saving my baby. On a Saturday night. Emergency surgery. Scared for my baby but I quickly found him to be in very good and caring hands. So scared about the process and him being under. Dr Painter was excellent at calming me and taking away my worries. I was so thankfull for these wonderful angels on earth. Here on a Saturday night saving my precious baby boy. I will always be grateful for all that you do. One thing that was also really appreciated was the fair prices. Wow. Its really really nice. Thank you for not breaking me. The whole horrific experience was handled so nicely. Everyone was very kind to us. And bringing my baby home was the greatest. Thank you from the wagging tails tribe.
Took dog in late at night and the staff was wonderful. They were so helpful and caring and they did a very thorough job looking over my dog. The vet even called me in the morning to check how my dog was doing .
Absolutely love this place and had the best experience! Brought my little 8 year old doggie here for suspicion of new diabetes. They took her right in and started care immediately. She saw Dr. Miller, who was extremely knowledgeable, professional and personable. He was courteous and kept me well informed. After she was admitted, I went in the evening to spend time with her where Mindy, the vet tech who is an angel to all animals, took care of my baby. She is so passionate and caring. What a wonderful team you have here. I had to share this because knowing where to take your sick pet is so important and I felt at such ease my dog was in the best of care. All I can say is Thank You for what you do!
What a tremendously awesome place to bring your family pets. Our little girl was not doing good and the staff here was absolutely amazing. They also DO NOT price gouge. Highly recommend this place! THANK YOU!!!
Very caring staff. Last night we found a lost dog. This morning we took her here to check if the dog had a chip. The girl at reception was very friendly, checked her and gave us tips on how to help find her owners. She gave the dog treats. Thank you for being so caring.
On Thursday night I rushed my 6 year old cat Ninja here, limp and barely responsive. Turns out his bladder was totally blocked. He had to go through extensive treatment and was battling for his life. To all the brave people (because ninja has kind of a difficult personailty when hes tiptop) who worked tirelessly around the clock to save his life. I give all my thanks and love to Dr. Ana and Mindy the tech especially and to all the fearless staff who went ABOVE AND BEYOND the call of duty to save his life! I am most glad to report that he was able to come home on Sunday night and has substantially improved. I think the worst is over with and I will continue to do everything in my power to make sure this never happens again. Thanks to them, I have all the information and tools needed to do so. There is no better place to take your pet when in dire need. I honestly wish they could be my full time regular vets office. The entire staff is so dedicated, compassionate and highly educated on all things furry. I will never forget the experience we had with them. They truly are amazing at what they do and I could not be more thankful.
I am grateful for the compassionate and professional care that our Shepherd mix, Stella, received from Dr. McKnight and the staff. One night she just didnt look right and we took her to the closest ER vet. Stella would not have survived the night if it were not for the treatment she received at the clinic. Dr. McKnight ran the blood work and took X-rays and diagnosed a mass in her abdomen. When we left our precious 11 year old baby that night, we didnt know what the outcome would be, but we felt comfortable knowing that she was in good hands and the staff was very personable and caring. The next morning the office sent over all the records to our local Palm Harbor vet, Dr Baird, and they collaborated on a treatment plan. Stella had a successful surgery that day and returned to Dr. McKnight that evening for the post-op care at night. We picked her up in the morning and Dr. McKnight was genuinely happy that Stella was doing so well. She sent over the report from the night to my vet and worked so well with our vet to come up with a game plan.Stella was still not where our vet wanted to see her in her recovery and recommended another night with Dr. McKnight. We are thankful to have the best vets looking after Stella.I would recommend Dr McKnight and her staff for after hours care. Timing is critical and you want a professional that is caring and compassionate. Thank you for all that you did to bring Stella back to us.
The staff at animal emergency and urgent care are amazing!! They not only took great care of my puppy but were also very kind to me!!! Mindy went above and beyond to help us and still three days after taking my puppy to see them they are helping us manage the treatment of the pup. Will definitely use them again if the need arises and will highly recommend them to friends!!Great job girls!!!
Incredible Veterinary services care and customer service!!! They took care of a dog I was watching for a friend of mine and really were truly amazing!!! the doctor and staff were wonderful!!! They fixed G-man up quickly and made him all better. They were warm and helpful and super patient and explained everything. Mindy is exceptional and stayed on the phone with me until I could find the location, and she calmed me down sooooo much as I was super worried about the pup. Not that I want to ever need them again but if I did there would be no other location to take any pet to!!! A++++ thank you!!!!! Amazing!!!!!!
The staff and doctor are fabulous. We were taken in immediately, and met with the Doctor. She was very thorough with her explanation of a treatment plan and possible diagnosis. I ended up leaving my cat there for the night as I felt he would receive superior care. Thank you for taking care of my beloved George.
I had a pet emergency at 11pm and came here for the first time. The friendly staff saw me immediately and took great care of my cat. The vet we saw was amazing. Thank you all so much for your help. Keep up the great work!
Theyre ok. Ill use them as a VERY last resort next time. The tech and Dr. That saw him the first time were very nice. The next I called, the nurse was not very friendly at all. I will do more researching. And perhaps looking into more reviews. Word of mouth is everything
I brought in my dog last night due to an accidental ingestion of a nasal decongestant (which can be highly toxic for dogs) and I was freaking out (to say the very least). The staff was amazing. They saw us immediately upon arrival and went above and beyond to make sure my little one was okay. They were patient, understanding, extremely thorough, and very kind. Very highly recommend. You can tell they actually care about the animals they are treating as well as their humans :) HUGE thank you to the veterinarian and vet tech that took such great care of me and Patricia
Everyone here is great. We were able to get right in at 11pm on a Saturday. Very upfront on pricing. Doctor is very knowledgeable and kind. Highly recommend either as a normal vet or for after hours emergency needs.
Second visit in 4 years. Both have turned out great. Doctor and the staff are awesome! Around midnight, my dog got a nail stuck in his foot from a reroof done at our house. He was very nervous and scared. They took charge and fixed him up. Very fair pricing, and caring staff. If the staff reads this, thank you very much! Jake and I are extremely grateful. He is happy to be home, resting in his bed, and is doing very well. The work you do is a true service to the community. We are very fortunate to have you in Palm Harbor. Thanks again, all the best
This was my first time here but I will be using it for all future pet emergencies. We came in on Sunday morning at 1 a.m. and had no wait. All staff were very professional, caring, and attentive. My dog has bad anxiety so Mindy went above and beyond her job duties and cuddled and played with my dog to calm him down for a long period of time. My dog had to stay overnight and I received updates and the next shift of staff already knew everything about my dog when I talked to them. I would recommend this place to anyone.
I brought my dog Sophie in last night as she wasnt eating and constantly puking. Their diagnosis was spot on, and their referral was great. Everyone was so nice too! Now Sophie has the proper medicine and shes actually eating. They also suggested to us CareCredit, which really helped out in the long run. Thank you guys kindly :)
I’ve used Animal Emergency for my pets’ emergencies since moving here in 2008, and I’ve received excellent service from the vets that have treated my dog and cats. My family and I are huge animal lovers, and it’s such a comfort to know that their clinic is open when our regular vet’s office is closed. In fact, the two offices often work in conjunction, sharing my pets’ records, test results and treatment plans, so my animals receive the best comprehensive care. It’s scary when you have a pet emergency and need immediate care. Animal Emergency’s clinic is a beautiful, state the art facility that’s comfortable, easy to get to and can provide urgent care when you need it. The vets that have treated my animals have had a broad range of knowledge and experience, and they really cared and listened to my concerns. I’ve always had complete confidence that my animals are receiving the best care, at a fair price.I’ve referred my friends, and we all have the clinic’s magnet on our fridge and their phone number on our cell phones. I highly recommend Animal Emergency!
They were quick to take my dog in on a Friday night. Staff was very caring for her. The doctor moved to quickly take blood and xrays. She was not the most optimistic, but her help was greatly appreciated. We had to move her to Blue Pearl Hospital for further diagnosis, but her care here helped to save her life when the clock was ticking. My baby had surgery and is now home recovering. Very grateful for their time and help.
Ive never met a more caring and Emotionally invested Veterinarian in my life!! Dr. Painter put her ALL into saving the life of my service animal, Gracie Jean and Ill forever be thankful to her and her team.
Im going to cut straight to the point. Ive read the negative reviews and they are all skewed and without merit. I have taken my 16 year old Basset Hound to this facility the past 3 years with MAJOR issues. The first time was when she could not even move her back legs. Thanks to the excellent doctor I was able to learn that my dog had deep pain and I was able to save her. That was Memorial Day of 2013. Then, in June of 2014 my dog started walking on 3 legs. I thought for sure she was done. However, I brought her in and it was recommended that I put her on Adequan shots twice weekly for 4 weeks then once every three weeks after that. She rebounded incredibly and has been in great health ever since.I understand that many people are angry at different things in life. However, please dont lambaste people that are trying to help pets just because you need or desire instant results. These people greatly care about ALL pets and will do everything in their power to help.
Last week our dear Golden Retriever unexpectedly went into congestive heart failure. We rushed her to Animal Emergency and Urgent Care. She, and we, were treated with the utmost care and consideration. We were called on to make that ultimate decision. There was no pressure, and no advantage was taken of our vulnerable state. Dr Beckett was highly professional and put our dogs interest ahead of profit. The entire staff was caring and sympathetic.
Thank you for taking excellent care of our golden retriever. The staff was very professional and took the time to tell us step by step what was going on with our dog. They are very caring and loving for animals.
I was on my way to the emergency clinic in Palm Harbor with my Sphinx cat with congenital heart failure and they could not see him. I remembered my neighbor had told me about Animal Emergency and Urgent Care in Palm Harbor close to Curlew and so I took Uncle Meat to that hospital. I met a nurse named Mindy and and Dr. Beckett, made my life so much easier. They welcomed me with open arms and took me right in. He needed oxygen and a few injections to calm his system down. He was diagnosed with congenital heart failure at his regular vet and needed attention. I have other animals at home and I will recommend this hospital to anyone to bring your pet here for professionalism and just pure love for my pet. Thank you so much and I am so happy!!!!
Excellent and very fast service. Took my dogs in immediately and gave all their attention to my boys! Hopefully theres no need to come back but i definitely will be returning if an emergency ever happens again!
I had two older Cats that need emergency urgent care on two different occasions. The doctors and technicians handled my cats with care and treated me with respect. They were straight forward with the type of care needed, the prognosis and costs right up front. Unfortunately, both of my pets were at the end of their life expectancy. The staff was very sympathetic and treated me with dignity in having to make a difficult decision. I highly recommend them. When I have future pets, I will bring them here.
My cat got hit by a car a couple months ago and I rushed him here. I was freaking out so I didn’t really check to see what time it was. They hadn’t even opened yet but there was a tech there. I didn’t even know the door was locked because I had my cat in my arms who was bleeding internally and struggling to breath and spitting up blood so I just pounded on the door with my elbow and she came and let me in and informed me the vet wasn’t in yet but she’ll do whatever she can and took him from me. Seconds after she took him she let me know he probably only had a few min and let me come back and sit with him and let me stay as long as I needed after he was gone. The vet came in when he got there and was very compassionate and considerate of what we were going through as well. They made me feel welcome and at home in a time of need.
They did a great job with my dog during a blood sugar crisis. Service was in and out and reasonably priced for emergency care however the second time we used them when my cat cut off his tail the visit was a fiasco. They had to amputate part of the tail which wasnt done in a timely way, no communication in the delay until we came to pick him up at the designated time and it hadnt even been started yet, and then the procedure had to be redone days later by our personal veterinarian because it wasnt completed accurately the first time. They also said that their service was priced comparatively the same as if the surgery was done by our vet, and I can tell you for a fact it wasnt. Probably would not go back unless no other choice.
Nice people but wish they would’ve been a little more honest with me and maybe I would of had a different outcome . And unfortunately they are super expensive so it’s hard to continue care if you don’t have a huge credit limit on your care credit or very wealthy . So make sure you have lots of money to spend when you go here . Just go to Blue Pearl .
This is an emergency veterinarian. Youre supposed to follow-up with your usual vet after emergency treatment is completed. They saved my dogs life and I am grateful. My only complaint is the high cost, but I imagine that all emergency clinics charge more than a regular vets office. Everything was explained thoroughly about my dogs diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. I am grateful they are available for true emergencies.
The staff here is wonderful!!! They treated my furbaby with great care and explained every thing to me thoroughly. Their prices are very reasonable also for an after hours vet clinic. I only wish I could use them for regular visits.
The experience has had me in tears. My dog was hit by a car they didn’t have any empathy or sympathy. My funds were low and their prices were high. First thing they told me to do is Surrender my dog😢 still paid $200.00 for unknown diagnostic of my puppy
I took my dog there late Friday night for treatment of wounds resulting from a fight between my dogs. Mindy was great, didnt force scraps to do anything and let me comfort him during the vets initial exam. They gave me the best as worst case scenario about the price and explained everything they did for him. I believe they treated him in the smartest way and did the best things for my baby and his healing. It took some time and cost some money, but money is no object when it comes to my best friends life.
Animal Emergency at 19 and Curlew is a godsend. I take all my animals - cats and dogs during their emergencies - including once on Christmas Day. Great care, excellent service and affordable especially when compared to other emergency care facilities in the area. Great to know theyre there to help when you and your pets need them most. The best!
I took my lab puppy here and had amazing service! My dogs eye got cut and suffered some trauma. The vet tech Mindy was so thorough and caring. They were very attentive. We were in and out in less than 45 minutes. I highly recommend them if you have an animal emergency!
Diagnosed my dog after 2 other vets miss diagnosed himI will be taking my future dog to Dr Hughes. He is the best and I will trust him and everyone else should to
Mindy and Dr. Raver were excellent on the night I had to say goodbye to my 19 year old cat. Dr. Raver was amazing - patient, kind and said all of the right things to comfort me on that terrible night. A++++ service.
Dr. McKnight has helped our rescue stray, cats and kittens for our rescue, Here Kitty Kitty Adoptions for many years. Her service has always been excellent, she, her other vets and the staff has been extremely supportive, professional and knowledgeable. They have saved countless lives of strays and other cats needing medical attention. We highly recommend the Animal Emergency to all our adopters and everyone else.
Brought my dog in to get an abscess drained. Dr said he could drain it but that it wasnt worth charging me to do because Im taking her to her primary vet tomorrow and shell make it through the night fine.I walked out of there without paying a penny!!!! He could have charged me the regular $95 for the consult but waved it because he didnt do anything. WOWWW! THESE GUYS ARE ABOUT YOU AND YOUR PET... NOT THE MONEY!!! ❤❤❤❤
Wonderful staff! Very fair pricing! One of my new puppies leaped off of our couch and was in a LOT of pain. Per my not so calm request, my husband called and the girl on the phone was quite helpful. To be on the safe side, I took my baby Yorki-poo in to be checked for any breaks or torn ligaments etc. It was around 10pm and there were a few patients ahead, so I did spend about 1 1/2 hrs total there. I was expecting at least that long, so no bother. They were able to fully examine with no need for xrays in our case, prescribe a light pain med, and help us get home to his brother. The fact that you can so easily tell that they love animals and their job counts for a whole lot. I hope you never need them. But if and when you do...
We have had to take several pets to this clinic. They have always been compassionate and caring during these emergency visits and I am thankful they are available when needed. They have had to put down three of our family members, two cats and a dog, that were put out of their misery in the most tender way. They have also performed emergency surgeries and cared for animals that had strokes and heart problems. I find their pricing to be comparable to what my vet charges for routine exams but they are doing after hours emergency care. I would not hesitate to take a pet there but I hope I never have to. It is reassuring that they are there to serve us in our time of greatest need.
Excellent customer service very professional nice doctors& nurses on staff I would highly recommend anyone to take your pets here I was very pleased with them all thank you to everyone who worked on my cat hes much better 😁🐱🙌🙏
I called this animal clinic last night with just some basic questions about my almost 3 MONTH OLD puppy. She was having stomach pains and was whining, I dont have a lot of money and when I inquired about payment she said they wanted it up front or they wouldnt even look at my dog regardless if she was whining. The girl on the phone could hear her in the background and said she needs to be seen, well DUH! What do you want me to do? Obviously you dont have real compassion for animals otherwise you would not have told me to take her to a county facility where I would have to relinquish ownership until I could pay for services. I want all those reading this review to be informed there is a place that will see your pet and not burden you with huge payments. Harmony Vet Clinic is a wonderful clinic and my dog is going to be okay! Please dont take your animal to Animal Emergency & Urgent Care at Countryside. The only urgency that takes place it swiping your card so they can increase their bottom line. Im absolutely disgusted by how I was treated on the phone, not to mention a complete lack of compassion for animals they are supposedly trying to help or save.
I took my 17 year old cat here at the end of her life. Since I had moved here only 8 months ago I didnt have an established veterinarian in the area I didnt know where to take her. They couldnt have been kinder or more compassionate. All costs were discussed up front so nothing was a surprise. Its an agonizing and heartbreaking decision to have to make for your longtime companion but I experienced nothing but kindness here. Thank you all for making Luckys last day one of dignity and grace.
Unbelievable lack of urgency and proper care for sick animals! When people bring in sick animals they are scared and need compassion not insincerity and uncaring and under trained vets! I would never bring my babies here!
I found a sickly rabbit in my yard today. Called the Humane Society - and they said I could bring him in but they dont have any medical personnel in on Sunday to care for him. I wasnt sure he was going to make it through the night - so I stopped by the Animal Emergency & Urgent Care on US19 on the way to the Humane Society and explained the situation. They agreed to take the rabbit in at no cost to me, and do what they could for him. Im really impressed! Thank you!!!
I would give negative stars if it was possible. My dog got a laceration on his side. We took him into this vet, which led to him getting stitches and a drain tube. I had to drop $527 on it- then they told me there would be no further payments for after care (including removal of the drain tube). After his tube was ready to be removed, we brought him back in. They wouldnt let us leave without an additional $75 payment (even though they said there would be NO further payment). But the worst part is...now that it has been a few weeks since the removal...HIS INCISION OPENED BACK UP (he does not scratch or itch it, nor does he rough house). We had to bring him to a new doctor where we arent even sure that the vet from this horrible office did internal sutures. So I dropped over $600 just to have to pay more money for someone to fix the damage this office did. Please save your money and time and dont listen to positive reviews...because I just got completely screwed over. Not to mention the doctor was not dog-friendly and rude (I have a lab...a very sweet dog).
Mindy was an angel, she helped me so much with my pet! I called in the middle of the night because he was acting lethargic and they helped me step by step. I really wish 5his could be our full time vet. Thank yoyou so much Mindy! You rock!
I had to rush my 12yr old cat here tonight, Saturday. She was making strange noises, appeared to be blind, couldnt stand and was gasping to breathe. I was a mess - this happened so suddenly. The receptionist was wonderful. She took me right in asking information as we walked. Another woman came in and checked Gracie over quickly and took her to the back. Papers were brought in for me to sign while Gracie was with the vet. After a few minutes they came and got me and took me back to Gracie and Dr Beckett. Gracie was laying on a table while Dr Beckett tried to get her to breathe with a small ventilator. She explained to me that Gracie most likely threw a clot and there wasnt much they could do but that she wasnt in any pain. I held her as she passed away. Dr Beckett stayed with me and calmly, compassionately explained that there wasnt anything I could have done. One of the techs came over and wrapped Gracie lovingly in a blanket and carried her in a room for me so I could say goodbye.Never once was I treated badly or spoken to rudely even when there was a technical problem with my credit card. And the bill was very reasonable. (I was actually referred her by a friend who is a Vet and told that Dr McKnight and her clinic are excellent and that the prices are very reasonable and that they dont do unnecessary procedures). Its so hard to lose a pet but the kindness and compassion shown by all the staff truly helped. Thank you again ..
I am a Certified Veterinary Technician and the Hospital Administrator of an animal hospital in St. Pete. However, I live in Palm Harbor. Over the weekend, my dog had an anaphylactic reaction (vomiting, hives, extremely swollen face, bright red skin, trouble breathing). It was too far for me to drive to my hospital, so I called and went to another emergency hospital. We filled out paperwork and waited about ten minutes before being told that a doctor could not assess her for forty five minutes to an hour. I left there and called Animal Emergency and Urgent Care. The tech got us in an exam room immediately after we arrived and the doctor examined her. Within minutes, she received the injections she needed. I was very pleased with the whole experience and definitely recommend this hospital.
My dog displaced his knee at 7pm on a Friday night. I took him to this clinic and they were wonderful. They took x-rays (and put them on a disc to give to my regular vet), gave my dog medicine and reviewed everything with us. I would use this clinic again in an emergency.
Our Golden Retriever, who never complains, woke up this morning with an inflamed ear and shaking due to the pain. We knew she needed immediate attention so we took her in. The Dr. & Assistant were quick to respond to her needs and very personable with Ginger. They made her comfortable and assessed her condition quickly giving her some much needed relief. We have also been in on other occasions with other emergencies and they have been quick to help. I should also say that I found the bill to be in line with most of my visits with our regular vet. Thank you for your help! :)
HORRIBLE place to go especially if Dr Miller is on staff...My dog would probably be alive if I made the decision to go elsewhere. I left numerous messages for the manager Shannon to call me after but she didnt because it was obvious they were incompetent. The vet tech didnt even want to wake up the vet until after she got my paperwork while my dog is bleeding non-stop in front of me. I told her to go wake up the vet! They let my dog bleed out in front of me without even cleaning up the room. Dr. Miller was so incompetent that twice he could not get a vein; it took him TEN FULL minutes to get a vein to put the catheter in before putting him to sleep so my dog SUFFERED and cried the whole time to the point I had to ask what was going on in there? He said he couldnt get a vein....Pathetic. I had to keep moving us to a non-bloody spot over 2 hrs. Dr. Miller wouldnt even come in to answer my questions as to how long my dog had to keep bleeding before the meds worked, he said he was busy typing notes. It was the most traumatic experience of my life.I would just suggest going anywhere but there.
Brought my Golden there on a weekend. She was falling and bumping into walls. Difficulty breathing and fast heart rate. Was seen by Vet, blood tested and evaluated. Was given some medication and told to take her home. Was told she was normal older dog and to keep an eye on her. Vet told my son that the dog had many more years to live. She died 30 days later. Total bill $490.00
Read it all..The Vet techs are great. The Vet on staff was terrific during previous situations. Our problem was that our new puppy had parvo, she was knocking on deaths door and our regular vet had her all day on fluids and meds but wanted us to have the puppy at the Er vet every night and during the day back to our vet to ensure the puppy would be properly cared for until she was able to get well. When we tried to bring her after hours as instructed the ER vet was CLOSED. No notice on the door, nothing, we were really fit to be tied with a very sick puppy and they were faxed the info, while we were sent with IV fluids and meds. We were told this was against policy without giving us an option, these places just don’t close for no reason. We were told later they had no vet on staff to come in. So, they closed. Not professional, nor ethical and it was a scary night trying to force meds and fluids into our puppy. My wife stayed up all night doing it until we could get her back to the vet at 8 a.m.The tech did call to apologize but this was so scary and a horrible experience. No other Er vet would take her they were tapped out. This really concerns us as they had no back up vets to cover,. It’s like going to your local ER. For a person and all is closed. Very bad for business and reputation.
We have taken our little guy there a couple of times and have good results. I looked at other vets and the reviews they got... all are about the same. This vet is close and has done right by us.
Ive come here twice for emergencies (same dog) and got what I came for: urgent care. The staff were always helpful and knowledgeable. Its expensive, as any after hours emergency should be.5 stars if they stayed open past 6:30 during the week.
Ive been here three separate times and each time they treated my dog with care and compassion. Im not sure why they have so many negative reviews. It just doesnt make sense to me.
This place has been shut down for over 2 months now and has a sign in the window saying there is no veterinarian there and so they are closed. No indication of if or when they may reopen.
Awesome care and no attempt to sell you what you dont need. Pricing was reasonable for emergency care. My cat was attacked by some other animal and we brought him in at midnight. They were kind, caring and knowledgeable. Gave me step by step medication and care requirements in easy to understand language & in writing. So thankful because who can easily remember instructions the nexy day after a traumatic event! They forwarded records to my daytime vet immediately. Im so thankful they are there in the middle of the night for us! A+
Brought our 11 week old Yorkie poo in the other night due to an acute onset of vomiting with diarrhea. We were very concerned because he is only 4.2 pounds and was lethargic. Dr.McKnight and staff were wonderful and very compassionate. Diagnosis and treatment were accurate. The next day Remington was feeling so much better and back to his pesty self! The prices were what we were expecting for emergency care. Thank you!
Dr. Painter and the vet techs were amazing with quick analysis and effective treatment of my 10 year old French Bulldog who was suffering from what we believe was anaphylaxis. Without their knowledge and skills I fear we would have lost him last night.
We have been multiple times. The staff and doctors are friendly, knowledgeable, and take great care of our pets. I highly recommend this office if the need arises.
I brought my Bull dog in here Tuesday night. He was falling down and eyes were twitching. They saw us right away. I was a little panicked but Staff was great and understanding. Able to figure out what was wrong. And gave us the proper meds. Hopefully wont have to go back but if theres another emergency I am comfortable going to them
Wonderful and caring people who helped us through a scary incident with our cat. Would highly recommend!
I rarely post reviews online, but I felt I had to share my experience with Animal Emergency & Veterinary Care because they went beyond what I expected and I am so thankful. Mindy was not only confident and knowledgeable in advising me when I called concerned that my puppy may have ingested fatal toxins, but she seemed genuinely happy to help. I also appreciated how honest she was in helping me to ultimately conclude that my puppy did not need to go to the hospital, resulting in no charges and a lot of good advice.Yesterday evening, I saw my 15-month old Cane Corso, Nala, licking and nudging a large, dead, cane toad with her nose outside. I was really worried because I know these poisonous toads secrete toxins that can kill animals who touch or ingest it. Nala seemed okay but I started to really freak out after reading online that dead cane toads are just as toxic and/or fatal as live toads. Being about 9:30 PM on a Sunday evening, Nala’s usual vet office was closed, so I called an animal hospital that was opened nearby, Animal Emergency & Urgent Care.Within seconds of calling the office, Mindy answered and I explained what happened. Mindy asked me a few questions before stating that Nala should be okay for now and advising me of what to do and symptoms to look for. I ended up calling again later in the evening and Mindy confidently assured me Nala should be okay if she still didn’t display any severe symptoms, although she could still have other symptoms, including vomiting. I apologized for calling again, and thanked Mindy. Mindy stated I have nothing to apologize for and that is what they are there for. She said she is glad she could help and said I can call anytime with any other questions. I am so thankful I decided to call rather than just taking Nala and spending money on tests that weren’t necessary or staying up all night watching her in case she got sick. This will definitely be the first place I consider with any emergencies (even if they aren’t actually emergencies) in the future.
Would never recommend these people for pet services.. They do NOT CARE about your furbay. Even though this was years ago, but had phone or google ratings didnt exist yet.. But I just had a flashback of the way they treated my poor Bambam after he got hit by a car. They treated him, but threaten us if we didnt come up with the 600.00 owed within a 6 hour period, they were gonna have the humane society come and take him to the POUND in the horrible shape he was in. And just like every poor person like me doesnt just have 600.00 sitting in the fricking bank. I had to get loans and pull strings while on my mind the whole time thinking of how DISGUSTING this place is. And how I would never come here ever again. And if I can stop the same heartache from happening to another person, I will. And I will also recommend petpals down in south St.Pete. Very kind, generous, caring people. And reasonable prices. Very affordable. Peace out urgency care✌✌✌
My dog had tried to eat a frog we called and rushed him in they were very nice and assured us he would be ok. They took great care of him and he came home a couple hours later like nothing ever happened. Great place.
Great bedside manner with my new 10 year old baby. Professional clean office space. Informative and caring!! Fast intake and service. Highly recommend!!!
I would of given a Zero star review if possible. WORST VET EVER. Took my dog in after hours for an ear infection and hematoma. They told me that they were unable to do anything for hematoma, given the reasons, I understood why. The ear infection on the other hand was another story. They wanted to do blood work to figure out what was wrong for 160+ dollars. Give him one day medication to the tune of roughly 600.00 dollars at total bill. ALL BECAUSE THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIGURE OUT A YEAST INFECTION for his ear AND A HEAT RASH! ESPECIALLY AFTER I TOLD THEM HE MAY HAVE OVER HEATED!! They were looking for money and only money!! Took him to another Vet. Dog was looked at for 20 minutes with out blood work. Was given 2 weeks of medication for his ear free of charge and scheduled in for surgery. Total cost less than the total cost of the 600.00 dollars these jokers were charging.
Did not care for the Doctor at all. She just was not a warm and caring type Veterinarian like I am used to. When I refused trt recommended because of cost I felt like I was a really bad person. The pet I brought in turned out fine with just the antibiotic she wrote for me. I will not go to this facility again but travel a little further up Hwy 19 to another emergency vet.
The vet who was ultimately responsible for the death of my dog (I had to have her euthanized at age 3), is no longer employed by this practice, but the owner of this clinic defended his incompetence. While its good to know that some people have had positive experiences, please ask yourself if you are willing to take a chance with your pets life. Do your research and familiarize yourself with the two other emergency vets in the area, AA Animal ER in Palm Harbor and Tampa Bay Veterinary Hospital on S. Belcher in Latgo.
Our one pug began having a seizure at 4:30 a.m., and my wife remembered this place... glad we went! She was given a shot and wanted to do blood work, which we refused We followed up with our own vet after the incident. They were very helpful with the whole ordeal. When you have an emergency, they are there.
Animal Emergency & Urgent Care has been a Godsend to our pets! They saved Babys eye, (a little, adorable Shitz Zhu), and they helped when Bubby, (a very curious Maltese), decided to swallow a toy squeaker! The care went above and beyond. Thank you!
Recently our French Bulldog puppy jumped off the back of the couch & hit the tile floor very hard so we rushed her here & they took awesome care of her. Not sure about some people’s experiences that have left negative reviews on here but we have had 2 visits with 2 separate French Bulldogs & both visits were great & very reasonably priced. All dr’s we’ve seen there are always forthcoming & super helpful. I spent half a day there & watched them interact with several different people & their pets. I know visits vary day to day but we will always bring our dogs there in an emergency. Thank you guys for EVERYTHING you do! Jim, Danielle, Pebblez, Petey & DeBo
We were taken care of immediately... even at 1:30AM last night. I was freaked out and Lauren was nice about it. She took my cat and returned her all-better. The whole visit lasted about 15 minutes... now if I had been the sick one wed most likely still be in the hospital!
Had an emergency looked on google for closest place this one came up drove there and they are permanently closed would be great if that was updated had to drive 15 miles to largo to another emerg not fun for my dog whos in pain after another dog attacked her.
My experience is not different from the ones below. They will rack up a huge bill and not tell you until it is too late and insult you at the same time. Do not take your pets here. They are not ethical nor nice. I took my dog there after it was attacked by another dog. He was small dog attacked by a big dog. When we got there we were worried and said please help. They took the dog and went to the back. We tried to ask about the dog and what they were doing every half hour and they kept saying we dont know and things like that. After about two hours they came out with a bill for over 800 dollars. We were frantic trying to find a way to pay the bill and asked what kind of options we would get and they told us to pay or have the cops called. Well when the pet credit application was denied and we told them that we could give them half now and half later, they called the police. When the police showed up and learned about the situation they took our side and told us to give what we could so it would become a civil suit. Well it turns out that they were just racking up the bill keeping the dog alive and suffering instead of coming out to tell us it is a better choice to put the dog down. ( I spoke to other vets that said they were basically making the dog suffer longer to help their own pockets.) They were incredibly rude to us and blamed us for the dog getting bitten by another dog while we were in tears about our lost loved one. If you want the best for your pet, take it a few miles south to another emergency vet and save the heartache these people want to impose on you. They are not honest and only care about money. Also read more reviews! As you can see the owner is incompetent and rude from the defensiveness in reply to the MANY negative reviews. Your dog deserves 5 stars!
We went there today with our pitbull choked up with a peace of bone on her throat. Was an indication of our usuall vet since we were in a Emergency situation after hours but by 7:15 pm.The recepcionist received us with a “what you want face”... Red flag! Anyways, we ‘re trying to be calm despite our dog trying to breathe and vomit at the same time... 35 minutes later left in a room, no sign of doctor, assistant or recepcionist...We had time to search and call to another place, open 3 doors and leave... Nobody even saw it...Definitely this is not a place to taking care of animals...
If it was possible to give less than one star I would. These people dont care about animals. Theyre in it for a check. Thats not a quality I would ever want in a vet. Terrible customer service, easily frazzled in situations a professional would know to be calm in, not to mention the fact they are terrible at handling animals. I will never return for any reason and advise anyone who loves their fur baby to do the same. Not to mention the fact that whoever they have replying to these complaints, clearly equally lacks compassion.
This poor review is directed at one person in particular. I cant remember her name (because I was in a panic due to the dying of my sweet dog) but she looked to be a tech with dark brown hair and glasses. During an intensely painful time, which eventually ended in the death of my dog (which was not the fault of the establishment, my dog was elderly), she made snarky comments to me in my time of crisis. She made one of the worst nights of my entire life even more painful. I dont know if she thought she was being funny, but it definitely came off unkind, rude, intentionally hurtful and completely inhumane. Her actions caused my panic to heighten and poured gasoline on an already fiery situation. I will never forget how aloof and unsympathetic she acted. Thinking back to it now, I can barely believe it. Normally, I wouldnt let a person like this get to me and I would pray for their soul. However, I dont want another family to be put through the pain through which she put me. I want her to remember that these animals are our family. Honey, I am sorry if you are calloused by the terrible things you must see every day and the pain you observe. If you cant handle it, then please change professions.Sincerely,A Mourning Mother
Dr. Knight was superb! Fair pricing as well. Tx!
Louie received a quick diagnosis and excellent care. Dr. Miller and staff were excellent!
I brought my dog in early on a Sunday morning. Dr. McKnights assistant was already there waiting for us, and Dr. McKnight wasnt too far behind. I had taken my dog to his regular vet the day before due to symptoms of lethargy, lack of appetite, and stomach clenching. My vet wanted to take a wait and see approach, but I insisted on having some bloodwork done not realizing that they send the blood to an outside lab. I wouldnt get my lab results from the doctor until 48 hours later, and my dog would not have gotten treatment for almost 72 hours had I waited on my regular vet. My dog seemed so sick the next day that I knew I couldnt wait for results. Dr. McKnight ran the bloodwork and immediately diagnosed my dog with anemia. If not for her, he may not be here today. I will forever be grateful. The staff is very upfront about what each treatment will cost so you dont get blindsided by the bill at the end. The only downside was I was prescribed four medications, and my regular vet had me take my dog off two of them (basically $60 and two trips to a compounding pharmacy wasted). He found them unnecessary unless the situation didnt improve - they could make him sicker in other ways and my normal vet is obviously a minimalist. The other negative is Dr. McKnights bedside manner could be a bit cold and harsh, especially when youre freaking out over the possibility that your pet could be dying. To her credit, she was very busy with numerous other emergencies that day so I could understand why she would be short. A smile would go a long way when someone is in that situation though. Just a suggestion.
Ive had to use Animal Emergency twice now. The first time was for my dog, who was suffering from a mystery ailment in the middle of the night. The veterinarian on duty, I think it was Dr. McKnight, correctly diagnosed my dog without putting me through a lot of panic or expense, which was a huge relief! My second visit there did not have such a happy ending - not because of the staff though. This time it was for my cat, who came down with something so heart-wrenching it could not be fixed, and he had to be euthanized. I had the same vet (my apologies for not being sure about her name!), who was still great, and the whole staff seemed very compassionate, even though Im sure they have to do this sort of thing every day. They even sent me a sympathy card, which the whole staff signed! That was a very nice touch, and even though there are tears in my eyes as I write this, Im very grateful to them.
Absolutely the worst place to bring your cat in an emergency!! They treat you like the couldnt be bothered but rack up the bills!
Professional, attentive, and compassionate during a time of severe stress. There is nothing worse than your pet being ill and not knowing how to help them. Thank goodness for Animal Emergency and their staff.
Staff was excellent, Dr was great too. Very pleased with the care we received for our pup.
My dog showed known UTI symptoms at 2am christmas morning, lovely staff was understanding, helpful, and all together great given the emergency. Best christmas gift knowing my little girl isnt suffering.
After waiting 2 hours in a different Pet Emergency facility, I called Animal Emergency & Urgent Care from the waiting room and explained the situation. They were 100% helpful! My niece and I rushed Kokoa to their facility and were immediately taken in to see Dr. McKnight. My dog is apprehensive in new environments, but here she calmed down and her situation was addressed. The kindness shown to myself and more importantly my pet was incredible. Thank you!
They took very good care of my puppy! Very passionate and caring staff and a comfortable environment!
On a Sunday my dog went into sudden unrelentless seizures. We rushed her to this animal hospital and Dr. Aby OConnor was wonderful. She truly cared, talked to us about everything no matter how many questions we had, and most importantly she took great care of my sweet dog overnight. Im thankful that during such a scary, sad time that Dr. Aby OConnor was there.
Had a fantastic experience. Office staff very helpful and supporting. Dr. very kind and caring.
Every time I need help, someone is there for me. I love the staff and how much they care.
Animal Emergency & Urgent Care has provided excellent after hour and emergency care for over 25 years. Anyone reading the negative reviews will discover the underlying tone concerning not having money, valuing veterinary care, or wanting to be in control, disguised as a complaint. Also several of the negative reviews are from people who have never used their service. What is that about?😊
