Dr. Murphy and the entire staff are all wonderful people who truly care about the pets they treat. They are always professional and compassionate. I refer all my friends to them
I have been taking my dog too see Dr.koulianis and I cant say enough nice things about him and his staff. Very caring and compassionate I would recommend them to anyone.
Dr. Murphy was so kind and really cared about my cat. His treatment helped her feel better right away. The staff is great, too!
Dr. Joel Murphy has been my trusted Veterinarian for 10 yrs. I have many exotics and do a lot of rescue as well. His knowledge and compassion for all animals is what we all strive for when choosing care for our beloved pets. This is his passion and his life. He takes his time with each patient and always returns calls. There have been times we needed to be seen right away and they always get us in.The office is always beautiful and clean. The vet techs are caring and knowledgeable. His facility is state of the art and if you google his credentials it is a very impressive list.I have peace of mind my beloved pets are in the best hands at Animal and Bird Medical Center with Dr.Murphy and his amazing staff. They are part of your family. Trust them with the best.
Ive been taking my dog to this vet for 14 years and they are wonderful!
I work for a pet store chain in the area as well as having my own pets. Dr Murphy has been my vet for a while now and because of his knowledge and customer service, my store as well as the rest of the chain in the district now uses his services as well. He sees all kinds of animals-dogs, cats, birds, reptiles and small animals. He knows what hes doing, hes decently priced, personable, not pushy and he tells you straight whats going on with your pet without sugarcoating. His staff is super nice and he takes every safety precaution seriously which is great during these times. I swear by this vet, he gives 110% with every and any animal that comes through that door. Thank you Dr. Murphy for taking such great care of those babies without a voice!
Dr. Murphy has always been very thorough with all my animals I send him. He goes above and beyond with care, kindness and compassion for all types of animals. His clinical acumen and in-depth knowledge of exotic birds is of the highest level and his own research to back it. He can help with almost any issues I have with any of my rare birds. I am very blessed to have him in my arsenals of medical professionals for all my animals.
Only the 100% BEST will do for our four pets - Animal and Bird Medical Center is it! Dr. Murphy, Carol, Toby & team have the experience and knowledge I trust. From my baby cat to my 18year old pup, they keep my wagging kiddos healthy and happy. Highly recommend without hesitation!*onsite testing, safe dental procedures, and surgical expertise are what brought us to Animal & Bird Medical Center and just a few of the reasons we ❤️ them!
These folks tended to my bird on emergency, quickly and with compassion. They kept me updated throughout the process, and I’m grateful for their expertise!
We began taking our dogs and cats to Dr. Murphy in 2005. He is very knowledgeable and always so caring with our pets. My friends and I refer to him as the “Dog/Cat Whisperer” because he just has a way with animals. Over the years, we have had to say goodbye to some of our fur babies. Dr. Murphy was very kind and sympathetic regarding our loss. My Husband and Son recently took our cat in for her annual visit and they followed CDC rules with no issues. Dr. Murphy even called me instead of my Husband to fill me in because I had to work. Bottom line, we would recommend Dr. Murphy to anyone looking for a veterinarian and we wouldn’t take our pets anywhere else.
Dr. Murphy is an exceptional veterinarian. Heis very knowledgeable/thorough and cares a great deal about our pets. Highly recommended.
Dr Murphy and the entire staff are awesome. They truly care for the animals and pet parents. Extremely knowledgeable and compassionate. They have always gone above and beyond for all my fur babies
I am a former employee at this vets office and feel the need to warn all of his clients that they are NOT properly taking care of your pets during the Covid-19 curbside protocol. Dr.Murphy asked us to LIE to his clients and say that we can no longer have clients in the building when CDC clearly states we can. While your pets are in for their appointments, as they wait in the room they are by themselves with no restrains and we were asked to lie and say “yes someone is in the room with your pets at all times” but they are not. Lying to clients goes against my morals and that’s one of the reasons I left. I also left because the staff is very disrespectful and toxic. This is not an environment I recommend to anyone bringing their pets in. Best of luck
They were great with my babies, Rocco, Scrubs, and Simba! Highly recommend.
I am so happy to have found Animal and Bird Medical Center. From the moment you walk through the door you know these people care. The atmosphere is serene and calm, the staff are so pleasant and true animal lovers. They have complimentary beverages for the parents and treats for the kids. There is parking on site which makes it worry free.Veterinary Services A+Customer Service A+
Ive been taking babies to Dr. Murphy for nearly three decades, and cant imagine what life would be like without him. His staff are the best!!
This place has no heart whatsoever. They couldnt care less if you have a pet in need. Employees are not practicing proper COVID 19 either. Do not go here, they dont care about animals unless they can make a bunch of money off of your loved one. Youve been warned.
I have had this Parrot for 36 yrs and she has been seen by many Vets over this time. When I moved to Florida I found Dr Joel Murphy and I never looked back. He is by far the most educated and devoted Veterinarian I have ever know. On one occasion my parrot had a spinal injury and was paralyzed and could not move at all. My wife and I prayed for a miracle and that came to us in the form of Dr Joel Murphy. He immediately knew what to do and over 4 months and about 10 visits I can happily say that she has made a full recovery. They stayed around the clock to watch and care for her. He deserves so much more credit than he gets. His Staff were so comforting and kept us positive. We both thought for sure she was going to cross over the rainbow bridge but because of his skills she did not. He is so caring that he even called us on Sunday and asked if we wanted to see her and we did. This guy is truly an Angel with a love for animals like no one I have ever known. If you love your pet as much as we love ours Dr Joel Murphy is who you should be taken your pet too.
I never write reviews but once again this place deserves it. I have been bringing my dog Draco to this office for routing check ups, vaccinations and allergy issues and have never once had a bad experience. I called Wednesday of last week when my roommate got home and called me and said there was vomit everywhere and Draco is not being himself. I immediately called Dr. Murphys office and they said even though they were closing in 20 minutes, the Dr would hang out to see him. Unfortunately I was over an hour away so they advised me to bring him first thing in the morning but if I felt he couldnt wait to bring him to an overnight ER which I did.. They did x rays and saw something in Draco stomach. He stayed overnight and they kept him comfortable till 8 am the next morning when I picked him up and brought him to Dr. Murphy. Dr Murphy himself called me within an hour and said whatever Draco has swallowed is in his intestines. Dr. Murphy said he would have his staff re-schedule some appointments and re arrange his day to perform Dracos emergency surgery. Draco did excellent in surgery and was home recovering the next day! Thank you Dr. Murphy and staff for saving Dracos life!
Dr. Murphy is the most kind, experienced, knowledgeable vet I have ever encountered. My cat had ingested a plastic object not visible to X-ray. Dr. Murphy was able to get it out of the stomach without surgery or endoscopy. He also recommended some healthy products for digestive health. My 16 yr old guy and I are grateful. Take some time to read the doctors bio and you will discover his amazing knowledge and accomplishments. Add to that his personable and no-rush manner and fair pricing.
I met Dr. Murphy last November when my beloved Abby was diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Murphy and his staff aided Abby to a peaceful and dignified departure. He also spent upwards of 20+ minutes just talking to my daughter and I to make sure we were okay. Because of his compassion and empathy, I returned today with my husband and two puppies that my family has adopted. Once again, Dr. Murphy spent time with us discussing our new pups and educating us on their needs. All of his staff was wonderful! I am so excited to have found his office. I look forward to introducing our three cats to him as well!
I love Dr Murphy, he is very gentle and caring, he always puts my mind at ease and calms my dogs. The girls on the desk are nice and friendly also.I would strongly recommend Doctor Murphy to everyone that needs help with their pets.
We took our Umbrella Cockatoo Lola to Dr. Murphy about 3 years ago. We didnt realize at the time but the quality of care we and our Cockatoo received has been unparalleled. He and his staff were thorough, patient and absolutely amazing. We noticed a very small decline in activity level in our bird and were very nervous upon arrival. They did a cytology of her throat and took the time to show us on the microscope what was going on. In addition, we were able to pick up compounded medication for her directly from them so we didnt have to make another stop at a compounding pharmacy. They also trimmed her beak while we were there and were thoroughly impressed with the service they provided. She was never once stressed while being handled by them. We have since moved about 3 hours away and have been talking about how wonderful Dr. Murphy was and how much we miss living so close to his practice. Finding a great avian veterinarian is tough and have been struggling to find one close to us that comes close to the quality we received there. He set the standard very high and we wish we lived closer!!
I will Never be back to this center . First visit. My dog had blood in her stool. I took a sample in with me. I was not told to bring shot records until I was in the exam room. Even though she clearly had current tags they refused at that point to examine my dog. Im Scrambling to find information needed. The 2 interns come in and tell me the sample I brought was not enough. What they did to my dog at that point was so brutally painful for my dog she screamed and yelped in pain . The doctor comes in and tells me that they got a sample from the Sample I brought in after all!!!. The doctor was extremely rude to me and threatened not to treat my dog if I did not be quite . Horrible experience!
Best practice for animals in sw flfrom the doctors to the staff.
Great Veterinary Hospital. They took great care if my bird when I boarded her. Dr Murphy really help my dog when he had a stomach upset. I would highly recommend this clinic.
So appreciative of Dr. Murphy and his staff and Animal and Bird Medical center.I have been a client over 15 years for good reason.First of all Dr. Murphy gives you his personal attention and cares for your pets like they are family. The staff has always been friendly and helpful and makes certain all my questions are answered. It gives me peace of mind knowing my pets are given the attention they deserve.Ive been in with my pets for regular exams as well as an emergency or two, as soon as you walk in the door they are ready for you. When my precious Mable passed away Dr. Murphy was the consummate professional, giving us time to grieve and allowing for her passing to be as peaceful as possible.Ill never forget it.So grateful for Dr. Murphy and his staff.
My bunny was the patient of Dr. Murphy for over 11 years.I just lost the bunny. I still have the bird.Dr. Murphy is extremely knowledgeable veterinarian. In the same time he is also a very honest doctor. He would recommend the procedures in the best interest of the pet.The rest of the staff is the same.I absolutely recommend the place.
Dr Murphy is extremely knowledgeable and compassionate. Ive had animals my entire life and never had a more knowing, understanding vet. His staff is the best. My 3 dogs and 2 parrots love them. Great surgeon!
Truly have never met such a kind and caring staff, from the receptionists to the vet techs and Dr. Murphy himself. I was growing frustrated that I wasn’t able to make an appointment or get in contact with other vets in the area, but when I called animal and bird medical center, they quickly showed concern and care and made me an appointment within the hour. From the time I walked in to the time I left, I was extremely pleased. I’ve heard so many incredible things about Dr. Murphy and now I understand why. I found out my cat will most likely need surgery, and I know for certain that there is no better place to get it done than here.
So Ive been shopping around for a vet to neuter my kitten and this place seems a bit pricey. But the woman I spoke to seemed understanding of my concerns about additional recommended procedures and was not as pushy or rude as some of the others Ive called. She even recommended another place that might be more affordable. But since this place has a better rating than several in the area, I might give this place a shot. I would give five stars for the conversation, but I can only give four till I actually bring my pet in. I will up it to five after a 5 star visit.
I am a former worker of Animal and Bird. Dr. Murphy is a sweet man and he knows his job. I havent nothing bad to say against Dr. Murphy. The crew on the other hand are cruel and harsh. If you dont fit into their crowd then they will do everything to make your life hell. Ive never been so mistreated and talked about behind my back so much in any other job I had. I was to the point of crying myself to sleep each night. I started this job with high hopes of learning about the Veterinary Field. Im going to school to be a Veterinary Assistant and I was so excited when I found this job and I was going to get the opportunity to actually work in the field I am studying for. My job title was a Vet Tech Asst. Everything was going great for the first one or two weeks, then I noticed a shift in the mood of the employees. What I thought would be a dream job, turned into a nightmare. First the job is misleading. I was more like a kennel asst. rather then a vet tech asst. My day to day job consisted of walking dogs and cleaning all day. To add insult to injury I was being paid minimum wage. It hurt to think I was doing a important job, caring for peoples pets for minimum wage. I was expecting to move up in the clinic, learn everything a Vet Tech does and how they operate on a daily basis. This wasnt the case. Management never showed any interest in trying to attempt to show me anything. It hurt because I knew I was going to school for this type of work and this clinic just never showed the interest of advancing me. After a while I noticed I was getting talks left and right about how Im not doing my job right. How Im not cleaning properly, how Im not doing this and that. But if someone did my job and left a mess, they didnt even bat an eye their way. I started to feel like I wasnt a part of this crew. About 30% of the time working there I was about in tears because I felt like I wasnt do my job right. Workers constantly talking behind my back and theres nothing I can do about it. I felt betrayed . I felt like I had no one in this clinic I could talk to. Youre suppose to be glad to go to your job, not almost in tears because you know that they staff is going to give you a hard time. Ive never had a job where Im in tears crying because they made me feel like I didnt belong there and I wasnt doing my job. Finally I couldnt take it anymore and gave in to the pressure. Ive never had a job before where I didnt feel wanted
After a very long ordeal with another local Vet we had the amazingly good fortune to find Dr. Murphy and his very caring staff. Dr. Murphys compassion, intelligence and willingness to go the extra mile is so much respected and appreciated. He doesnt nickel and dime you to death and offers many options. After months of an ordeal with my Golden, Dr. Murphy treated and put his magic touch and she started to heal immediately from months of an open wound. We are grateful to him and his staff and do not know of any other Vet I would trust my beloved dogs to.
Dogs and Cats too! Dr. Murphy, Dr. C and the team are consistently warm, conscientious, and knowledgeable. Wouldnt even consider taking my rascals anywhere else.
I travel 40 minutes to see Dr Murphy. He provides the greatest care and spends so much time thoroughly explaining and discussing my dog’s health. The staff there is caring and kind. I couldn’t be happier with a vet... and i have to go a lot for my shitzu’s allergy, eye and stomach issues! Highly recommend this location to anyone for their pet care.
I have been taking my companions to ABMC for over 20 years. Dr. Murphy is remarkable and I trust him completely with my pets care. He really cares!!!!!The clinic has state of the art equipment and does many diagnostics in house that other vets have to send out, which means immediate diagnosis and proper treatment. The staff is courteous, friendly and knowledgeable and they truly care about my pets as well. I highly recommend Animal and and Bird Medical Center for all your veterinary needs!!
I am an employee who has gone back to work for Dr. Murphy after 10 years. I left due to a career change. He is fair to his employees. He also cares about every client and patient. Dr. Murphy is highly knowledgeable and my co-workers are highly trained to do their jobs. I recently lost my husband tragically and Dr. Murphy reached out to me with compassion and concern. Then I applied to come back and my co-workers have welcomed me with open arms. I have enjoyed seeing our loyal clients Dr. Murphy and all of us appreciate you! We welcome all new clients! I am glad to be back and this is my calling!!
Dr. Murphy and staff were incredible with my daughter and her hamster. They were caring, kind and made everyone feel loved and cared for. I highly recommend this vet and their staff. Thank you!
Changed my earlier review. Called the office again and talked to a very kind person who said of course they would fit my baby lovebird in. Dr Murphy is extremely knowledgeable and compassionate. Couldnt ask for more. Its hard to find Avian Vets and he and his assistant are real gems.
I took my cat Benny to Dr. Murphy when I decided to change from litter to Yesterday News. I didnt do it properly and it turned out he needed an enema. The front desk staff greeted me with smiles and tissues because I was so nervous. Dr. Murphy and Tobi were kind and informative. Benny now uses Yesterday News perfectly! Thank you so much!!
BEST VET IN FLORIDA! We have been taking our fur-babies to Dr. Murphy for 2 years now. Dr. Murphy is very compassionate and extremely knowledgeable. We trust Dr. Murphy that we drive 5 hours from Miami to get our fur-babies annual check-up and teeth cleaning done.Truly happy that weve met Dr.Murphy..he has been a blessing to our family.
I have been taking all of my pets to Dr. Murphys clinic now for over 15 years. All of the staff is always well informed and respectful, and cares for my animals as if they were their own. Dr. Murphy always gives me multiple options and resources and is always very attentive to my pets needs. Animal and Bird Medical Center is the best vets office I have been to, by far.
Dr. Murphy is extremly knowledgeable & caring. His staff is amazing also! My lab thinks he’s going on vacation when he goes to visit. I can’t say enough good things about this office! They treat their clients like family.
This is the only place I will take my Animals! My 2 yr old Lab is very difficult with boarding. He gets separation anxiety. They treat him as one of their own! True animal lovers. Dr. Murphy is one of a kind.
Caring, sincere, knowledgeable, experienced and honest. What more can one say or ask for?The name has been changed to make it a little more explanatory. Still a great place.
Dr. Murphy and his staff always show an exemplary level of service, concern and affection towards my dogs. The teams expertise seems to only be exceeded by their passion for their patients and owners.
If I could give this vet a zero I would. 19 years ago he diagnosed my African Grey with a life threatening illness. Well, needless to say, here we are 19 years later and she is fine! I cannot even begin to tell you the angst that I went through with this vet. In my opinion he is a scammer and should not be trusted with any animal!
We love Dr Murphy and his staff. Always there when we need them and they are very good with both our dogs. Glad we found this amazing Dr and the wonderful staff!
Went in with my dog for an exam, with a coupon they offered with a discount off your first visit as funds were very tight. Total cost should have been about $25. While examining my dog, and without asking my permission yet alone telling me the cost, he draws fluid from a lump she had for testing. He did this so quickly, I didnt even realize what was happening or have time to question it before it was done! Charged me well over $100 to walk out the door. Testing and costs should be discussed with client, not done in a flash, without a word, and expecting you to pay!
Havent been there before, but just got off the phone with a receptionist there. Not telling them youre going to put the phone down and then not even responding to a good bye is just bad phone etiquette. If youre going to do this as your shift, at least refresh yourself on telephone skills. And again, Im sure the establishments service is fine, but brush up on your communication skills.
CRUEL AND INHUMANE!!!My brother, sister, and I took our rabbit here early in the morning to be neutered because the place we bought him hadnt done so, and he was getting severely backed up. The first thing we notice was the attitude problem from the secretary who opened up the doors. She displayed the Im better than you attitude. The second secretary came out and was hitting on my brother. Although there is nothing wrong with showing attraction to others, it is inappropriate in a work place and it is not okay to try and hook up with customers. The vet assistant who took our bun bun to the back was however a sweetheart. We left our rabbit for the surgery and picked him at 5pm later. Doctor Murphy had done the surgery and came in only for a few seconds. He had barely any eye contact, he was acting very nervous and seemed to want to get out asap. that was really odd. He did not give any antibiotics, rabbit cone or any information other than how to feed our rabbit. He did give us pain medication. We were told to watch him so he didnt chew on the surgery site, which we did. We looked at the incision site before we left and at the time it looked fine... until later that night. It was rapidly turning red and raw. We called emergency care and they told us to take him back in.The next morning we called them early and were told there is no exotic vet was in today and that there couldnt be anything done. After some begging and persuading they said they could see of the doctor could take a look. We took him back in and left him overnight as recommended although we were hesitant. Same rude secretaries except for the lady who took him in. The doctor was also sweet. She was empathetic to our situation. Much better than Dr. Murphy. At this point we havent slept in over 32 hours. The next day, My sister and brother went to pick him up while I stayed behind. I was texted later explaining that they were extremely pissed and that i would be told when they got back. I was explained that the secretary was immensely rude and treating them as if they were wasting theyre time. When they got the rabbit out of the clinic, he was freezing as if he had been in a freezer. He also seemed to be crying. He would run the the farthest corner of the cage and showed bewilderment and mortification. We think they abused him!!Please, if you read this, seriously consider taking your beloved pet there. They may have good reviews but something is not okay there!!
I worked at Animal and Bird for about 2 and a half years and left on good terms. I still choose to bring my dog there even though the drive from my home in Land O’ Lakes is lengthy.I choose to see Dr. Koulianos for my pup. He’s an extraordinary doctor with so much passion for what he does. He’s an associate veterinarian at the practice and I would recommend him just as much as Dr. Murphy who owns the practice. Both are very gifted and compassionate doctors! Please don’t let those recent 1 star reviews deter your interest in making an appointment. I don’t know the situations they experienced but they sound extremely invalid and unlikely. From the doctors, to the technicians, to the assistants and receptionists this medical center is filled with people who truly care about your pets well-being. One of the best and most important aspects to pet owners is being able to see everything your pet experiences at the vet. This office is one of the very few that lets you experience it with them. They are confident in their practices and understand how pet owners want to be in the presence of their pet during the exam, vaccinations, radiographs and even surgical procedures. I have always recommended this vet office and always will.
Dr Murphy and his staff are top notch. They take the time to explain everything and really take excellent care of your pets. I wouldnt take my pet anywhere else.
If you are looking for an incredible vet go and see Dr. Murphy. He spent his day yesterday talking to my kids after we found out we had to put our dog down who had cancer. He even personally called them after to reassure them that this was best for Saydee and to help them through the grieving process. He talked to my daughter for over 5 minutes on the phone after the fact too.
Dr. Murphy is wonderful and so lovely to speak with. Staff is so courteous and welcoming. Love they are Holistic and Traditional practice.
I have been going to Dr Murphy with our dogs for more then 10 years and he is by far the best vet I have ever seen. He is caring about each pet as it was his own. His staff is great and treats you and your pet with respect. I had a dog that was very sick and the test were expensive but he worked with me on the bill because he cared about the treatment the dog needed. He also prepared me for the final days with my dog which helped me through the hard time I had losing him. They do not get any better than Dr Murphy and his staff. I always felt like family in his office.
Monday morning 7/31 was emotional enough just dropping off my rescue (Shepherd/hound mix) Eleanor for her knee surgery. After 3 months of planning for the date, taking time out of my work week to be with her, borrowing baby gates and making sure the next 4 to 6 weeks will be possible in our lives.....it gets CANCELLED (After being confirmed the Friday before) Due to the fact Dr Murphy will be gone for 3 weeks after, he wants to be here for her postop. As much as I appreciate that, I find that out the same day. An hour after we drop her off. UNBELIEVABLE. I explain to Dr Murphy the schedule, my job, my LIFE. How am I supposed to reschedule this now? According to Dr Murphy the front desk schedules the surgery dates without really knowing all the details. Yes, Eleanor is a special case. Being a bigger dog with a luxating patella. THEY ALL KNEW THAT WITH THE FIRST INITIAL VISIT. Which calls for a different Dr. by the name of Dr. Burns. SHE should have been scheduled and wasnt. Being in business myself, no one is perfect and there are mistakes to be made. Trying to pass this surgery on to the following week like its that easy and not having any understanding of what we had to do for THIS week completely blows my mind. Not only am I out of income this week, I had to inconvenience MY CLIENTS to get this done. Now Im left with no surgery, not working, having to reschedule this AND worst of all popping Eleanors knee back in for her.... for God knows how long. Dr. Murphy BARELY had compassion for this mess. While asking him all these questions his response was, Im not really sure what you can do about your situation. Well, I didnt have a situation until you and your staffed messed the scheduling up. I was not charged for the blood work that they already did that morning. How nice of them. To sum this all up:Strike 1 - Receptionist and Doctors should be using the same calendar. How in the world do they operate if they dont know whos doing what?Strike 2 - No notification, e-mail, text, letter in mail, phone call to let me know ahead of time not to show up because Dr cant do surgery?Strike 3 - No backup Dr to do the job. Now, let me see if I can get her in instead of waiting for 3 weeks? Nothing to help?Strike 4 - 3 months of planning and now 3 more weeks because hes going away?We go thru alot with our 4 legged children and take time off of work and run around and the list goes on. I will be looking else where to avoid such problems
Dr. Murphy is the best veterinarian I have ever met after 55 years as a pet owner. Dr. Murphys veterinary hospital is just like the university hospital I used to go to at Cornell Vet School - he has more high tech diagnostic equipment than I have ever seen at a private veterinary hospital. I have never met a more knowlegeable vet and I like that he is also trained and offers holistic medcine in addtiona to regular medicine.I drive all the way from Brooksville to take my dog and cat to him and I would recommend him without question. I found his fees very reasonable and fair. I found his staff to be the most professional and caring group of people I have ever met. 5 stars for this hospital.I just got a new puppy and he loves the staff at the Animal & Bird Center of Palm Harbor.
Great staff and Dr Murphy is very kind and understanding
Dr Murphy and the entire staff gave up an evening when we arrived with our sick pup then they had to perform emergency surgery.
