They seem to have a strange response to the covid virus. Instead of having towels available to each person to wipe down the machines now we all have to share the same towel in the same spray disinfectant, it makes no sense at all. And then another great surprise is that when its time to take a shower there are no towels for showering and nobody seems to know why!I guess I have to begin bringing my own cleaning and showering towels.

The YMCA has gone down hill for years with mismanagement. The director Kristen Cole lacks leadership and has NO CONCERNS over the needs of the Customers. I was a member for over 20 years and was witness to the gross spending and lack of management. 1 example is literally for over a year the eliptical equipment and the wifi for the TV stations on new equipment didnt work. I wrote the same equipment down every work out for 14 months requesting repairs. Before that the bathrooms were filled with black mold. Last week the pool surface was dark gray. Still I was wanting to get back into working out I asked to rent a locker wanting to pay which would be additional revenue. I am being told there are not going to be any locker rentals because there might be customers needing a locker and not being able to get one. Kristen Cole said there was no way to run a locker rental program. She is lacks the problem solving skills to be manager over Lake Nona and the Oviedo Ys. The YMCA is a ghost town for years well before Covid. The Oviedo Y had a half sized basket ball court. A large box filled with approx 15 basket balls and of those only 1 had air and could bounce. Complaints were made and nothing ever improved. If they have 10% capacity at any time it would be a generous estimate. The Oviedo YMCA is not having towel services and they also can not afford coffee for the senior citizens as they normally did. They cut the gym hours back to accommodate the employees wanting their weekends off. The Y hours are M-H 5:00am-9:00pm, Fri 9:00-7;00 Sat 8:00-3:00 Sun 9:00am -1:00pm. When inquired about the hours being cut back and when will they open longer the answer is you can drive around town to other Ys. The reasons and excuses to why locker rentals are no longer available had NOTHING to due with Covid. The only reason given is based on locker demand. Yet there is no locker demand. Kisten Cole states she as the director over the facility has no way to manage locker rental. Well there is the answer as to why the Y is tanking. Bad attitude and stock answers with no solutions. You have a beautiful facility empty. I hope the new CEO when he gets into his position cleans house and fires the poison inside the Y. When I expressed that I think that her attitude and lack of management skills is a big part of why membership has dropped. I mean membership that use the facility not just donate money has yielded a ghost town. Before they started all the big remodeling projects the Y was packed with members parking on the grass. That is when they stopped listening to members and they tanked. Gross spending and no customer service. Also they are so poor that they do not supply wet wipes anymore. It was always a problem with being out of stock on sterilization products. I started bring my own.

Its good. 125/month for my family (2 adults and 3 kids). They include childcare and my kids enjoy spending time there. The pool is available for recreational use, laps, aquatic fitness, aquatic sports, swim lessons. The locker rooms are very nice and there is a sauna. Everyone has been very nice and welcoming. Im sure there is more I missed but I think its a great value.

Getting motivated to work out is a chore on some days. Warren, Archie, and the rest of the staff make it easier by being so cordial when they meet you at the door. The other members are friendly and will almost always show you how to operate a piece of equipment or sign up for a fun class. The locker room, showers, and sauna are always clean. My only complaint is I wish it was closer to my home.

I really enjoy this YMCA, though it is a bit far from where I live. They recently remodeled the locker rooms, and they are much improved. The sauna is my favorite part of coming to this Y, and I use it whenever I come. Dottie, the woman that checks me in in the mornings is incredibly sweet. The farmers market on Wednesday mornings is a nice touch too.

I am very disappointed with such poor service when it comes to cancellation of a membership with the Y.My daughter signed up for membership, but never used their service due to her moving out of town. She tried various methods to cancel her membership, but was told she had to come into the facility in person to cancel services.Despite having telephone, and email communications for cancellation they continue to charge her credit card.Today we were able to go in to the facility in person to cancel the membership, but the person at the front desk said they will still charge the credit until February. This is absurd and should be illegal to deliberately exclude an online option to cancel membership.

My home YMCA. Has a special place in my heart. There are two squat racks, and theres plenty of room to deadlift. Wish the pool were larger and that the weight room had a platform and some bumper plates, but overall the facility is great. Has a dry sauna. Provides towels, which in my experience is pretty uncommon at YMCA locations. The staff members here are always stellar. Ive been to a lot of YMCA locations (the AWAY program is a sweet thing they dont really talk up, by the way), and this one remains my favorite.

From the staff to the facility, the Oviedo YMCA is fantastic. Ive been a member for years and hop around to several of the central Florida locations. This place is a Y! Why do you go anywhere else if what you look for is quality of coaches, quality of equipment, variety of classes to tailor all your diferent needs, cleanliness, family-respectable environment (not meat market) or a place to go with friends or your family? Their staff is very welcoming.. and oh, btw, they do have staff! No kidding, people work here to make this place in shape to host lots of people in our community. They care and take care of everything. If what you look for is a cheap place to lift weights, them go anyplace else around. For many years a have tried the other places. Budget, right? I will tell u, i would quit after a while. My health and my spirit made me understand it is worthy of paying the extra for real service and great environment. Thanks Y!

Horrible pool! Just canceled membership. They keep their pool so bathtub hot that anyone outside of their ‘water aerobics’ (floating) class, that is under 70 can’t use it. Giant waste of a pool for anyone that wants to get an actual workout in. Triathletes look elsewhere because the YMCA only seems interested in catering to its, reduced rate, senior citizens.

Review №29

Its ok. the facility is nice, but my issue is predominantly with their sports teams department. Coordination of the soccer league is rather lacking. Games getting cancelled 15 minutes before game time, while you are already on the road; not hearing from the YMCA with any team assignments; lack of communication about league registration. Considering the $200 we spent, we are not that impressed. That was fun, lets go again!

Have been volunteering here for 100+ hours and I can say with confidence no gym or organization I have been to is as professional, organzied, and friendly as the YMCA. Kid friendly and has endless options of things to do to get fit. I wouldnt trade it for any other gym. Workers are willing to go beyond for their customers who become a like family.

Nice facility but horrible member services staff. I asked them if I sign up could we do private swimming lessons in 30 days because I cant afford the expensive monthly membership fee. They said yes, I called in the next business day after I signed up and asked to schedule the private lessons, they tell me there is a waiting list, long story short it took over a week to finally scheduled some classes, even though they said yes it could be done right away. Then I called on the first of the month to cancel my membership she said no I need to come in person. I went 3 days later in person and they tell me that I have two more cycles to pay for because I need to give 30 days notice before the next pay cycle! Anyways complete waste of money, and the most disappointing part is that they would never admit they had some fault in their sales pitch / customer service and just kept reiterating you signed a contract . Really sad that such a family oriented place has such horrible customer service and zero sympathy.

The facility was nice but when my family decided to cancel membership, a 2 month long saga of “billing errors” and “forgetting” to cancel automatic billing caused them to charge us for two months ongoing. When I was finally told it was handled, the next day another charge was put through to my bank. It has been a nightmare.

I’ve been a member here for 20 months and they have been trying to take my picture since I started. Each time their equipment didn’t work. Finally after the 6th time I told them I was not going to waste any more of my time. They said they were going to kick me out. No apology for their error; just treated me like I’m being unreasonable. Sorry I tried being reasonable the first 5 times. Their old staff was very friendly and helpful their new staff treats customers like the enemy.

It was a sad day at the YMCA. This YMCA has literally 10s of THOUSANDS of pounds of equipment on the floor. The floor is clearly covered with rubberized cork padding. However I was stopped during my workout by one of the trainers and told that the floor wasnt padded and not capable of withstanding my 200 pound deadlift. Being an engineering major at UCF, I was insulted by this ignorance. Do I really believe that the guys that engineered this floor made it capable of holding 10s of thousands of pounds of equipment and a couple hundred people (there were very few people in there at this time) in motion but not 200 pounds being rapidly set down? The real problem was the noise which Im pretty sure someone didnt like. Its a gym though. The noise is part of it. When I asked the check in girl for the manager, she said there wasnt one working! I asked her who was in charge and she said nobody! So heres my review. Ive been a YMCA family member for more than 7 years.

Nice place. But I was not able to actually work out today due to an incident where I needed a bandaid. When I asked someone for one, they searched around some drawers like they were junk drawers and came up with nothing so I had to leave. How does a gym have no first aid equipment? I am now very wary about working out here.

Went to some classes during my visit to Florida. Was impressed at the number and variety of classes offered all day long. Also loved that there was a Wednesday morning farmers market setup outside w the most friendly farmer and gorgeous produce.

3 Stars. Not loving. Not hating.Im perplexed. I dont go here often, but when I do. . . The updated facilities look great. The upstairs weightroom has a good selection of/variety of workout options. The indoor pool is fine unless youre really serious about lap swimming. They have a good yoga studio and spin room. Plenty of run, step, or cycle in place machines. No basketball courts. Thats a must darling. (Next upgrade to the facilities. wink wink) Theres just something in the air in the general workout area that, for me and a few others I know, makes it really hard to push yourself. Maybe its the music. 😒 Maybe its the lighting. 🙄 I dunno know. Theres a vibe missing that I cant put my finger on. As a comparison, The Winter Park Y on Lakemont has less equipment, an outdoor pool with kids splashpad, indoor basketball courts. Admittedly, the facilities at WPY are not assss nice, but the vibe is there. You walk in and people are like Heeeey! Welcome to the club. You walk into Oviedo, and its like you dropped an empty can on a hard floor in the engineering section of a library before finals. 🤫 Maybe Oviedos indoor pool air.🤭 Like I said, I am perplexed. Oh, and Ive been a Y member in CFL for almost 20 years.
