We have been here twice and it is definitely our favorite Italian place in Kansas City. Their Fried Mozzarella (mozzarella sticks) is the best I’ve had. Ever. The lasagna and a ravioli are also top tier. Their Peach Bellini has ruined all other bellinis for me. Their portions are huge so plan on leftovers. Sadly because of this we haven’t ever made it to dessert. I would recommend splitting something because they do not play around with portions. You will get your money worth. The wait staff is phenomenal too.

Fine dining setting. Reasonable prices. Attentive service staff. Looks like they get a lot of take out business. My iceberg wedge salad was perfect with lots of bleu cheese chunks. Their dipping oil is heavenly. Cabernet Sauvignon house wine glass is $5.75 and was very good. Certain bottles of wines are 50% off on Wednesdays. Parking in front and on east side.

Food was pretty good. The meatballs are a must have here, they are made correctly and extremely tender due to them having the traditional meat mixture. I had to order one to go. Wait staff is very nice and on point, even packages up our leftovers for us. However, the complimentary bread was sub par and I feel like they have too much sauce on the plates. Only reason I didnt give 5 stars.

Never a bad meal here. The baked lasagna is a staple. Wife always orders liver and onions (not on the menu). Generous portions with food and the service. This is our special occasion go-to. Do not miss it!

Could use some upgrading such as hard floor instead of carpet in some areas. The food I think is really pretty good. The only thing lacking in my opinion was that the dishes with red sauce shouldve LOOKED more appetizing. They were good tasting... Nice and light sauce to the taste. When it comes out though, the sauce is just really piled on top heavily and I think it makes the food look like it tastes less good than it actually does. The server was very attentive and personable. They also boxed our things for us at the end, which I always greatly appreciate, as opposed to having a server just hand over a pile of boxes.

We got here right after they opened and their service is a little slow and they don’t have blue cheese dressing but they have the crumbles.Good food though but the salad portions are a bit big and the food portions are a bit big to.

First time visitor and was not disappointed! Went there for lunch and was amazed by the quality of service and food. Our server was outstanding and was easily able to meet the needs of our group of 6. Everything from the bread to the appetizers to the salad to the main course was A+. Come with an appetite or be prepared to bring some home. Everything we ordered was delicious! If you like Itialian food, this is a must for you!

Easily becoming one of my favorite places to visit for dates, celebrations, etc. The food is reasonably priced, delicious, and most of all the service is top notch. It just feels more personable here and despite COVID Im so glad they are still here. I wish this place all the success!!!

Amazing homey environment. Everyone there is so kind and polite. Food was amazing and the manager is so sweet! He even let us take home a loaf of bread! This is definitely a new favorite family spot. And the portions are huge for the price!

Everything was hot and fresh. Our server was very attentive and helpful and for the price you paid you got a good size portion, almost my while table took leftovers home! Definitely recommend!

Great food I had the Italian flag which was lasagna, chicken parmesan and Alfredo. All very delicious. However, my wife had the chicken lemonnata. Omg buyers regret should have gotten that. It was tasty. The restaurant was quite and the service was great. All and all it was a nice dinner for the family.

We arrived this afternoon around 12:30. Although the restaurant was mostly empty, We waited around 15 minutes for waters and a soda to be served, then over an hour for lunch to be served. The atmosphere is neat. The food is standard. However, Due to our experience, I dont believe that well return.

I had the Italian flag, the combination of alfredo and red sauce, delish! Their dip for bread, with roasted garlic and parmesan also quite delicious. Well worth the calories and carbs that I didnt need!

Stopped in for a spontaneous meet up and couldnt have picked a better spot. The food and service was exceptional. My first visit but not my last. If you want authentic Italian food, I highly recommend Johnny Cascones.

Awesome service. My brother and I both ordered the Italian Flag, it was super good. Lots of food left over. Also order the dipping sauce for the free bread, its only 4 dollars and its the best Italian dipping sauce ive ever had.

Is a 4.4 star restaurant made a reservation no problem getting seated. Was kind if discouraged when saw hostess in jogging pants and a sweatshirt. Could at least been dressed better. First impression in walking in. The waitress Annie was very nice. The wine was good, the cocktails good. Got the food and looked like thru marinara sauce on everything so you couldnt see your food or what eating. I wouldnt recommend was very disappointed in the first impressions.

Love this place! We placed a small catering order for 15 people and the food was hot and fresh when we picked it up. And it was so yummy, everyone loved it! Very good price for what we ordered too.

Looking for a new place to eat, came across Johnny Cascones, and was pleasantly impressed. Great food and service that made you feel like a regular. Everything we tried was exceptional. Will go back again and again.

Food and service was amazing. Was a little confused Bc the tables were not 6 feet apart. Some people in our party ended up leaving Bc they didn’t feel comfortable eating in chairs back to back to another table. I thought it was mandated but maybe it’s not in OP.

Lots of fresh bread and love their Italian dressing but get it on the side otherwise the salad is swimming in dressing. Hubby loves the chicken speidini. I like the lasagne. Sugo sauce is good. Atmosphere and music in the bar is wonderful.

We were told about this restaurant many years ago as a place to try. Now we visit them anytime we are in KC.

The chicken spiedini was terrific, great flavor, served with banana peppers which actually was a good combination.

Always loved cascones but the food has gone down hill the last few times we have been there.

I was there for lunch and had their soup/salad combo with clam chowder. The house salad with blue cheese/gorganzola was amazing but, surprisingly to me, the clam chowder was even better. Tons of tender clams, low on potatoes, it could not have been better. I normally have the spedini or eggplant parmisain and this was a nice change. Everything here is wonderful so you cant go wrong!

Placed carryout order. The food was very good except for the mushrooms. There was just to much white sauce. The customer service was excellent, very friendly and professional. No wating for order. It was ready when I arrived.

They are under staffed right now. There were several large parties & it took a long time to get orders taken. Foodvwas good., but the menus has been pared down.

This has been a family tradition since before I was born. Weve known the family for years and they are always the best. The food is genuine and cant be beat. Ive tried nearly all of the must have Italian restaurants in Kansas City. Not a single one is in comparison to Cascones chicken parm. The portion are traditional Italian, so like my parents always said, mangia bene!!!

We went to Johnny Cascone’s for lunch yesterday for this little guys 2nd birthday party and it was amazing! The food was some best Italian in Kansas City and the price was amazingly reasonable, and the service was great! Thank you!

I went in with no expectations because it seemed dark and dated. Our first surprise was our server, who had a great sense of humor and made several great suggestions. What Italian restaurant doesnt have cappuccino. They dont. But our server introduced us to a great coffee.With an additive that was terriffic. I had the eggplant parmesan. it was fabulous.And the lemon cake was deliciousWith that great coffee!.

Phenomenal food, live music,vand a free anniversary dessert! The frozen Italian margarita was amazing! 👍👍👍

Ordered carry out during Covid for my family. Happy to find they offer a family menu option that was enough to feed us for two dinners! It came with three different pastas and the mosticioli with meat sauce was out of this world amazing.

We visited for the first time tonight. My son picked the restaurant for his 18th birthday. We will definitely be back on a regular bases. It is a hours drive for us to get there but we can not say enough about the great food and even better (if thats possible) the service. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!

This is one of our favorite Italian places in KC. Their red sauce is my favorite in the city! Fun, homey ambiance that you would expect from a local, family-owned Italian restaurant. Ive had great service every time Ive eaten here. One small thing I would change is the house salad dressing, which I dont care for. Overall, a wonderful restaurant!

Fabulous environment. So pleased to have landed up in this place right on my day one of Kansas city. Italian at its best. Loved the breads so soft and specially its dipping sauce with all roasted garlic and virgin olive oil. Chicken parmigiana with chicken soup del giorno was so full that I couldnt try their delicious deserts (Heard they are so good). Recommend for best Italian food here and wonderful service. The place is so amazing to have dinner with family, friends and specially lady of your heart.

This place has always been great! From the service to the main course. My wife introduced me 5 or so years ago and its some of the best Italian food in KC.

Lunchtime - Baked lasagna is to die for! You can get it catered in your own lg beautiful casserole dish, too, for your event, approx $55. Super staffers, too.

Wonderful experience, wonderful food to start my 70th year

Walking in first impression is it’s an ok decor but it needs updating and smells like a thrift store. The paper on the table is out of place. The menu first impression was mediocre. The calamari had no seasoning besides parm cheese, that you got to dip in pizza sauce. The lasagna tasted like cafeteria fourth grade food. And the bread pudding also had almost no seasoning. The only redeeming thing was the broccoli. I would have been happier with stouffers lasagna.

This was our first time here. My lady and I were very pleased with the service and good food.

This restaurant provides extraordinary service and enjoyable menu. One of my favourite places in the area. The meals came out fast and the prices were affordable. I recommend this place.

New Years Eve was our fifth year for dinner here. It will be our last. Our waiter was rushed and made jokes about how inattentive hed been. Then to try and establish a connection he stood around our table telling waiter mishap stories. We didnt have the formal dining experience and good service we expected.Id made a previous arrangement with a staff member for a dietary restriction but our waiter refused me when I told him Id been asked to talk to Izzy. He then suggested a dessert item they didnt have. He made a mistake on our bills and told people at the table how much they owed each other rather than getting it corrected.I contacted them regarding the issues but was ignored for a week before I posted this review. If youre going out for a special dinner, beware because the service isnt equal to the menu prices.

Please dont think a reservation means you have reserved that time. The manager consistently over books his time slots leaving people waiting. We waited over 50 minutes past our reservation time. I also watched countless people leave Saturday evening experiencing the same thing. Hopefully this will save your evening and allow you to reserve at another restaurant that will closely honor your time.

We really enjoyed eating here. We both had different choices for appetizers and entrees. We got the olive salad and stuffed mushrooms for appetizers. I got the Johnnys combo and my wife got the Chicken Spedini (sp?). Everything that was supposed to be hot, was very hot! The salad was fresh! The service was outstanding! We ended up bringing some of everything home. The entrees were all very good! Their sauce is a little bit sweeter than I prefer. But, overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our whole experience and will definitely be going back!

I dont like to leave bad reviews. Especially when a place seems to usually have great ones. But it would be unfair to others for me not to review our experience yesterday. The staff was friendly. But when we first walked in it smelled like septic so badly. My partner wanted to leave, but I said maybe it wasnt so bad in the dining area. It wasnt, but theyd obviously had to spray to eliminate the smell. The food was absolutely the worst Italian Ive had. And I LOVE Italian. He ordered the spaghetti bowl and I ordered the combination plate. Which at $18, I expected to be decent. The serving size on the combo was very small. The lasagna was frozen and reheated. I suspect it was not homemade. The sauce was absolutely a canned sauce with processed meat. Tasting much like Hunts canned sauce and the that had the texture of the meat in Spaghetti-Os. The chicken parmesan was also frozen then just reheated in the microwave. Which made the crust so soggy it was sliding off the chicken that was like warm. The Alfredo was also a processed sauce. His spaghetti had the same processed red sauce and so much of it he couldnt even eat it. We ordered the calamari with the bigger pieces being undercooked, so they were chewy. And they also did not season it nor the breading. Just fried and tossed processed Parmesan cheese over it. It makes me sad it was such a boxed meal. It looks like it was a very nice place. Im not sure if the pandemic or staffing issues have changed things so dratically, but it was obvious that a few others were unimpressed behind us. And in the other sitting area were people who obviously knew the waitress, as she removed her mask.and sat at their table. Was really disappointed. :(

A genuine Italian restaurant with equally incredible food and service! Our waiter was very attentive and gave great wine and food recommendations. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for an authentic KC style Italian restaurant that has a warm welcoming down to earth feel, very reasonable prices, and incredible fresh, homemade pasta, and bread.

An old Italian staple in Kansas City serving Italian mainstays. The food is fantastic. The drinks were tasty and creative. The service is a little slow so dont mind the wait. The staff is very courteous and pleasant. I had the Ravioli Ricotta with their spicy marinara, which was fantastic. Be prepared to spend a little time here but if youre not in a hurry, youll enjoy the experience.

Nice place. Needs updating. The red sauce was a bit on the sweet side for my taste. Overall the place was good. Prices were reasonable and the waitstaff was courteous and informed.Upgrades should include new acoustic ceiling tiles and booth cushion refit.

Wish I still lived in Overland Park to enjoy Johnnys more often but every trip to KC includes another trip to Johhny Csscones. See you next month!
