My 11yr old son has been going here since August of 2020 and he absolutely loves it! 4 evenings a week and he never gets bored!! It has helped him gain self confidence, become stronger and really feel like part of a team! We really like the coaches, especially Coach Valentino - he’s wonderful with all the kids!

I have two children who take classes here and they both love it, the older a little more than the younger. But, I have never heard them complain about going, when I say it is time they grab their gear and cant wait to see their friends, coach, and professor. It is an intense hour for them, lots of hard work, exercise, and learning the proper techniques. Then they square off with a partner and do their best to execute what they have learned. It is incredible to see their improvement and confidence in themselves and what they can do grow each day.I highly reccomend Gracie Barra Oro Valley.

The coaches and staff are very professional, and super kind and patient with young kids. My 6 year old has been learning here a few times a week for 5 months, and truly loves it! Her increased maturity, confidence, and discipline from participating in and studying Jiu Jitsu is profound, and she has found some true friends!

The Gracie Barra Oro Valley School is a quality establishment that focuses on not only technique but also teamwork, fitness and discipline. The classes are very structured to include stretching, warm up, technique, practice and then rolling. My son and I have been doing it for a year and while we see some turn over we absolutely love the classes to include the Saturday family class where we can all learn together.I see a few posts here that have some pretty heavy allegations and I am really struggling to see the same perspective after 15 months of 3-5 per sessions per week of attendance (kids and adults). I wish them the best in their journey of martial arts, discipline and peace while simultaneously caution any new readers of that substance.

This has been an enjoyable class for our daughter and a few of her friends have joined and loved it as well. Not sure why others think Valentino does not like his job. But, unfortunately he does not stick to his contracts and over-charges people with limited instructors for 25-30 student classes. I think also Corporate is an issue. He seems very passionate about Jiu Jitsu and is a great coach for the little ones. The classes are an hour long, and every day of the week except Sunday. They have cards they keep to track attendance and promotions/belt/stripes. Unfortunately due to the price, inconsistent contracts, and lack of adult instructors/communication, we had to end our membership.

I love this place! Everyone from Coach Tino, to Professor Enrique, Professor Andre and all of the students are helpful and top notch. The classes are taught in a way that is easy to understand, but they challenge you both physically and mentally to get the best out of you. Feels more like family than anything. Highly recommended!!

In gracie barra oro valley, Ive learned a lot of things with my team, to be humble, respectful, let ur ego out the door. Were all the same here no matter how our opinions differ. I also like how the coaches and professors here explain and go in depth with techniques, makes it easier to understand and get an idea of the technique itself.

The good:The facilities are NICE and clean. The coaches are good. The bad:Super expensive I’m paying about $160/mo in my contract. The owner seems to care more about money than taking care of students or employees. On his phone while teaching sometimes.. not the end of the world just unimpressed..

My 6 year old son and I have been training at GBOV since it opened. Recently got my 3 year old daughter into it as well. They both love it. It is a very clean facility. The team is very inviting and a very diverse group of people. It is good to see the kids learning self defense and have a sense of accomplishment when they perform their techniques. It is a great means of stress relief while attempting to get back into shape.

Very grateful to have found this place. As an advanced student with 10+ years of training, I moved across the country and wanted to find a school that had the right culture and focus on community, as well as an established curriculum. GBOV was the perfect fit. The head Professor is knowledgeable and humble, and maintains a collaborative learning environment. The school is immaculate and well-maintained. This is a family school and several of the parents of children students also train, and the adult students assist with the kids classes. I very much enjoy training with my fellow students, and as an adult with professional occupation, I am there to learn and its important to trust and respect (and like!) my teammates. While Gracie Barra has a ton of resources, the family-owned feel and atmosphere is very much present.

If you are considering signing at Gracie Barra really reconsider. I really believe they want you to sign up get your four or five hundred dollars and then don’t care whether you stay. My son is three years old he has had multiple surgeries on his eyes and ears. He wears a 750 prescription in his glasses and is learning know that he can hear and see for the first time in his life. We wanted to join the Gracie school because we watched the video online what the Gracie school did for this young boy who was bullied and beaten up really bad. We were so impressed with this video. This is the complete opposite here at the Gracie school. The guy giving the classes seems very miserable from the second we came in didn’t want to communicate or have really anything to do with us. My wife commented and said the first class and interaction with Tino was 100 percent different then the second. Tino seems to me like he doesn’t enjoy his job a displays a completely different atmosphere and attitude then what we read about and viewed before signing up. We were told the school would integrate our son who is three, into the classes I waited for about 45 minutes nothing. Then when he told my son to shhh that is when I said why don’t you try to ease him in or at least acknowledge him he told me he can’t focus on my son there are the two other kids that need his attention two. I responded with that is not what they told my wife or did in the trial class which was 100 percent different then with Tino. He told me don’t interrupt his class we can speak after which I did immediately. At the end of the class he blessed me with his presence made it very clear he is the head instructor and if this wasn’t the right fit then I could leave. By the way the funniest thing in the class I was watching him tell the 4 maybe 5 year old girl to get mad get angry and to beat the boy who was obviously more advanced and older. I have read a lot about jiu jitsu and have never heard anyone say get mad get angry in fact in all forms of mixed martial arts it says stay calm focus also maybe for Tino the so called instructor show her how to beat the other student maybe teach her. Either way how this all played out was Tino called the police because I asked for a refund. Just to let you know it was me my wife my three year old and my 5 month old newborn. It shows you how Tino the head instructor of an acclaimed jiu jitsu school reacts and communicates. I would highly suggest not going to this school. Just one more thing for the owners of this school just like in many of the very poor reviews he says how Tino is on his phone and seems like they don’t care I think it is probably time to address the situation. I am also going to call the franchise there is no way such an acclaimed company runs there business that way.Thank you

Im an older heavyset woman who discovered the world of Juijitsu. Professor Enrique and his coaches are great instructors and motivaters. Its a team and family that promotes self defense, health management, strength, courage, and empowerment. My daughter is 7 and she loves it, her teammates, and coaches. This is great for families and those looking to compete. If you need a stress release, lose weight, or want to level up your family life check out Gracie Barra.

GB oro valley has been such an amazing place for me and my daughter to train ! The facility is always clean and well kept. The professors and coaches are always friendly and have great energy. GB not only teaches you self defense and tons of amazing jiujitsu they also teach you to have more discipline, confidence, strength, motivation and not just in your training but in your everyday life. There is no price to high to replace me gaining the confidence Ive gained while training here and the family me and my daughter have been adopted into. My daughter who has been bullied in the past now has the confidence to stand up to these kids and simply say leave me alone knowing if she ever has to defend herself she could. I would do anything for my children to feel safe ! I drive almost 30 to 40mins 2 to 3 times a week so me and her can train. Yes their is closer and cheaper places but what we get here at GB cannot be replaced by any other school. Thank you GB family for always making us feel like your family!

My daughter attended for 1 year. There was a lot of turnover for Coaches and front desk staff. I was told by her main Coach in March, after she had been training since the previous late June, that she was due for her new belt and that Professor Enrique agreed. That Coach quit unexpectedly (because of the owners) and my daughter never received her promotion. When I brought it to the new Coach and staffs attention I was told they would ask Professor Enrique. A month went by and still no promotion, at this point we had decided to not continue after her 1 year contract was up. I spoke to Professor Enrique about the cancellation as well as my concerns with her not receiving her new belt. His words were, at this point it would be counter productive to give her the promotion since she is quitting. My 6 year old daughter that had gone to Jiu-Jitsu for a year 2-3 days a week does not deserve the belt that she EARNED because she wont be continuing at this time. That logic is lost on me. I was saddened by the handling of this situation and will be looking elsewhere for my 3 children in the future. I will add that my card was also charged the following month and I had to call and dispute the charge, I am certain had I not noticed nothing would have been done and the charges would have continued. Money is important in running a business, but it seems as though this business is more about the money than doing the right thing for a child. That belt COULD HAVE completely changed her desire to keep doing Jiu-Jitsu.In response to owner: No one has in any way influenced me to write a review, I actually meant to do it then, but life happens. I feel my experience can give others insight and so I shared it. The charge was not caught by you and was not refunded, I disputed it with my credit card company. There was no confusion with the belt promotion, you said it was counter productive and didnt give the promotion seemingly because we cancelled, even though I had been told that you were in agreement with her promotion 3 months prior. She went nearly 6 months with no promotion, watching all her peers get promoted. Its unreal that something like that gets overlooked in my opinion. It affected her desire to continue as she thought she wasnt doing as well because everyone else was getting new stripes and belts and she got none.

Gracie Barra Tucson and Gracie Barra Oro Valley are the most beautiful academies I have ever seen! The environment, cleanliness, instruction, comraderi, and family friendly vibes are just a few things from a long list that you just will NOT find anywhere else in Tucson, no matter how hard other schools try. Give them a call or come right in! You wont regret it!

If you are looking to train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, then Gracie Barra Oro Valley is the school for you. Gracie Barra has a solid lineage, so you know what is being taught is the real deal. The training is conducted in a clean environment that offers the amenities of a huge training mat, lockers and showers (check out their Facebook page). They offer day, evening and Saturday classes that accommodate any typical work schedule. The professors and coaches are very good and teach both self-defense and competition applications for the techniques. The students help each other get better and offer a variety of body types to train with. Higher ranking students from the Gracie Barra Tucson location will occasionally train at this location, offering more opportunities to get even better. You have nothing to lose by coming over and checking it out. I am glad I did.
