Great place that helps individuals tremendously in your times of need. Good counselors that are willing to help you
Absolutely HORRIBLE. I emailed this place about assistance and they said they would help. Yeah, they lied. I got there at 2, filled out paperwork, WAITED SO LONG to be seen, just to be told they’re not doing intakes due to COVID. Like what that’s something I should’ve been told while I was waiting!! Then, I was asked so many questions about what I have and don’t have. If I had ANYTHING I wouldn’t have my a$$ in a homeless shelter with a crying one year old seeking help!! Worthless place. Actually, no. Shoutout to the dread head guy at the desk. The NICEST person there. He saw me struggling with my kid and gave her toys to play with while we waited for God knows how long.
Great job terrible hours to do it in sorry Im just too old
Ive wasted my gas & time coming to this place multiple times. They told me all I needed was proof my husbands job was affected by Covid but then they give you the run around again. I seen them reject a mom & her child but they gave rooms to all the drug addicts coming in. They treated the mom & her child very rudely also. I dont appreciate the way this place does business nor the way they treat people. The security guards are nicer & more compassionate than the actual staff
They take care of their residents. Good place to get help when you are homeless
The food is unfit for human consumption with the exception of the once a month Disney provided dinner. They regularly serve expired food and moldy bread. This comes from long personal experience, 18 months worth. Do not eat anything there.Other then the food it what youd expect from a homeless shelter.
Good place in Orlando, Florida! Basic hot food, hot showers, very competent social workers in my case, plenty of resources and daily work around. Good guests too: no fight, only loud talking when theres a American football game or basketball. Its all good and clean; I do recommend this place.Going West? Check the Albuquerque Rescue Mission as well as the Eugene Rescue Mission also.Happy trails People!LMD.
Absolute worse shelter in Orlando! They do not help clients and will find any way to actively make your situation worse! Food is always below standards, place is dirty and they steal like crazy and no not the residents the staff! If you have no where else to go please look elsewhere especially if you want any help!!!
They look out for each And the provide very comfortable housing. No one will be left behind
I was helpless and homeless, tjis past feb 2021, i came to there intake 6 am and they gave me a bed, and new start, im over 55 and life getting little harder each year, but everyone, working there, was alwsys nice to me. I got job, and felt better about my self 5 months later they got me rented room with help with rent for 4 to 5 months, the place works if you work at it, if not you will not last, but if you want help and get off the street, great place,
Thank you director coalition I want to say thank you to the staff thank you for the hot shower everyday and I just want to thank one person that is so awesome to me thank you so very much
Sad to see so many homeless in this country and the numbers will continue to rise. Our government has failed its people during a pandemic with very little real assistance. The number of homeless families are increasing daily. With that being said, the staff are polite and caring but their hands are tied because they dont have enough resources to accommodate the population. Sad times we are living in!
They care, providing food and shelter to the homeless and those in need
This is the only nonprofit I found that does not discriminate and actually helps the community fairly. The staff is stellar! I was amazed at the great personalities of the staff. They feed and provide shelter to thousands of homeless children, women and men. If you are looking for a honorable organization to donate to, that honestly helps many in need? I recommend donating to this organization, especially the shelter, as there is a high need for gently used clothing, small toys, new toiletries such as shampoo, body wash, and deodorant. This place brought tears to my eyes with the amount of good they are doing on a daily basis in Orange County Florida, a truly amazing and well ran organization.
Called in regards to shelter, informed they only do intake Mondays at 7am. Customer service representative was rude and would not explain to me scheduling and process via phone.
Great to see that theres a place like this helping people in need and hopefully there is counseling and guidance available for the individuals that would like it. Non religious counseling and guidance for course.
Aisha and Sarah were the absolute best . Aisha was heaven sent detailed and extremely professional. Sarah was very informative, patient, and kind. With these two God blessed them to help me. Thanks ladies.
I dont know how I feel about this place because theyve been paying someones rent I know for years who doesnt work and has a bunch of people living with him so I dont know Im homeless and Im lucky if I can find a place to stay and then this guys getting his rent paid and sitting around and I work
This review is being written by J.J. Ortiz about his experience at this establishment. Several weeks ago I became homeless and I found myself at the homeless shelter on N. Terry Ave. I met a social worker named Cassandra- she was very helpful, she did the impossible to help me. The place is very clean, you have your own personal space and locker. I also enjoyed the food (you get breakfast, lunch and dinner). My experience was a unique one and I appreciated everything that was done for me by the staff. Everyone treated me with kindness.Sincerely,J.J. Ortiz
Rated 1 star cause there aint a my zero.
Great place to stay. Except for the threats of violence. And the thefts. And the glock 15 shot pustol that was found on a guest
Smh 🤔😔 what is understood doesnt need to be explained.
Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.You fed me when I was starving and never judged me for being in the street. You paid for me to come back to New York City and I grabbed hold of the opportunity and begun life anew and sober.I will never forget that you helped me get my life back.
Wonderful welcoming assistants. Very friendly and helpful! Thank you so much.
They help families, men in single women Its a great shelter they are really good they will help you to the fullest.
Staff loves to call DCF for no reason. Food is really bad. Drugs everywhere. Roaches and dirty air vents.
They are there to help you if you want to help yourself, it all falls on you in the end. Three meals a day and a roof over your head what else can you ask for.
They help only some people you can be there all day or all night to get help they bump the people they like infront of you and say there is no space for families
After checking in and waiting for 3hours,they told me to come back the next day. Accomplished nothing
Great place all they do is help the homeless a lot of great people! Love them couse all they do is help help and help!
A decent place to get back on your feet. Clean and the staff are nice. If you have a problem with them it is more likely your fault.
Miss Andrea very nice lady take care of business
Rude staff. Was there 4 hours for intake, 2 of which were waiting in line before they opened.
Danyale is very nice and hard working she goes out her way to help everyone that’s there. She do her best and give her all.
I loved volunteering there because the people are great. They are determined to get ahead in life and be the best they can be. ... I pray they get the job they want. And start a whole new life ......
The Coalition for the Homeless have changed my life. I was sleeping in my car and came in to shelter. Case Managers are wonderful and they really care and help. Also the support staff and shift leaders. There’s some people that expect they do everything for them and that is wrong, we need to do our part. It’s funny seeing here in the reviews some post from people that were kicked out due to violence and bullying others and now the Coalition didn’t helped them. Unfair from earth to the moon. You didn’t helped yourself dude! People that is working needs to move on faster since we are more self sufficient than others and of course those without employment and with some mental health challenges and disabilities or even drug addiction stay longer in shelter. Those cases are the most challenging ones. Some folks have more challenges than others. If you really want to change your life go there. If you are not ready to accept that the change start with and you will blaming other for the disgrace that you are facing instead of grabbing the bull by the horns! Dude, don’t even try, cause they will not get your messiness together for you. They won’t and that is wonderful! I wish more professionals would treat me as straightforward as they did. Maybe I would avoid lots of bad choices. Thanks Coalition. I will be forever grateful.AG
This place saved my life. Was on streets for a long time. An addict. Bottom of the barrel. Went to rehab got out and had no where to go. Sheridan my case manager got me a full time job saved my money now have my own home 2 cars to my name very successful. Use the program mind your own business and things will work out
No,lack of heipful concern
Great place for people who need help. This place along with the Red Cross do a lot of great things for people in need. I wish there was more funding and more help that we can offer to places like these to help others in need.
Good people doing good work as far as I can see
My life experience there last year was awful its not the staff its the people there the women I lost my job my free daycare and my free apartment its so much a person can take until they just pop I have another opportunity to go back after the July I will work this program word of advice go in there do what you have to do you have no friends your case manager is your friend I could have been in my own place by now but I let the devil get the best of me the lord gave me one more chance and I know I will work the whole program instead of getting arrested because I was fighting a female that was harassing me you willmeet people who envy your life even though yall in the same situation remember do what you got to do you have no friends and you will make it out Ill give yall an update when I go back I promise stay blessed you all yall can do this my best friend Annabella mom got her own apartment she worked the program remember when you go in there they paying attention do what you got to do
I go here around Thanksgiving and Christmas with my wife sometimes my kids and the large group from work. A co-worker has a small but meaningful charity that she runs that aims to help. We go here to take food and presents for the monthly birthday party. They host a lot of families here that have children. My understanding is that they have jobs on the property and the people there seem really grateful for any and all assistance that is provided. Typically at the birthday party we bring an abundance of food and snacks cupcakes and presents and then distribute them to all the children of the homeless families. The kitchen staff is usually very helpful and the team that greets you when you come to the building is very friendly as well. I was apprehensive the first time I approach the building everyone is generally very nice and despite how you might feel initially they treat you very well. I would recommend anyone who can steer someone homeless someplace should do so to here. If you have the ability to volunteer or donate to them please do so.
Wasnt Supposed to be Homeless, as I had just gotten out of Lakeside Inpatient. Lakeside goes through the Coalition, So I got a Bed Right Away. Met A Lot of Great People, Social Worker, and My Room Mates were also nice. I wasnt Afraid like I thought I would be.
The people are most helpful. They are for the most part very loving and caring folks.Walt Disney World volunteers came in and did a most excellent feeding on 9/27/18.Marriott also has came and done the same. What great blessings being poured upon us all.
I hit serious physical and financial challenges and found myself a short step away from total homelessness. The Coalition welcomed me, gave me a safe place and provided solid help towards moving forward. I really love and miss the staff there. They became family to me. I love yall!! Nik
People here have been super helpful. It took almost 3 weeks to get in but I am able to stay here & save $ to get a place. Lots of drama, just stay to your self and use the facilities for what you need. Not a place to make friends or party but, people do
Ok for a place to rest your head, shower and have 3 meals a day.
These people that volunteer here are a great bunch of folks. The honestly help people to be better, and stand on their own. most of them truly care about helping. i volunteered here and i can honestly say i enjoyed working with them.
If youre COMPLETELY out of options then take advantage of 30 free nights.... But its filthy. Very little rules makes the place not safe and not a good stay. The lack of rules attracts those who would be the ones breaking them.
I tried to call just to get information, they refused to answer questions and said I needed to go to facility in a rude manner. Drove over an hour and a half to the facility to be turned away at the gate I called again and was hung up on and after a third call I was informed the facility was closed even though it was during hours of operation posted on sote and I was told over the phone. Is this organization even helping people
I had the opportunity to do some volunteering with Coalition. I think that is a great place, with compassionate people committed to help you if you are also committed to help yourself. They follow Housing First approach. This is not the place to go and just mess and joke around doing nothing. Case Managers are professionals and will help and guide with empowerment, they are not going to enable you nor do the things for you. If you don’t follow your plan appropriately they will not hold your case longer. You could ask for time extension to the Director of Case Management but you will need to have a good justification and being in compliance with your plan other than that she will graciously tell you...No Sir it is time for you to move on and find another place to go.
There is no doubt in my mind if i need direct attention that someone will pick up the phone to answer my call or take time out of their busy schedule to assist my immediate needs.GOD Bless the United Way of Central Florida.
They suck
Are they taking people tonight to put in hotel for the homeless
Its been a great place Im currently been here 2/ weeks Im going to get a better job now that i have place to come to all in all may god continue to bless this place and help those who are in need
Awesome! Case managers work very hard to assist their guest. GSPs also work hard the guest as well
Beautiful showers and Staff at the Drop In Center but the hours are no good and the meal for dinner is small.
My case manager was very helpful, however, staff is very rude, donations get kept by staff instead of given to guests, and resources are wasted. I was exited after 60 days even though I had found a great high paying job, before I got my first paycheck. I am now out on the streets trying to maintain my job and have lost almost all of the possessions that were given to me by the coalition. I watched staff exit hard workers over and over while people that lay around all day have been there months. Had two bicycles stolen. Very political and staff plays favorites. Definitely needs improvement. If I was a volunteer or donator, I would be disgusted at the way guests are treated.
I went there it has very tight security. The lady that helped me was awesome she found me someplace to live that same day.THANKS
Nice place nice people just one thing I called to ask if they took toys used and new. they said yes when I got to the door they said they dont take used toys. Beggars cant be choosers little disappointed for making the trip to find that out. However they still took my donations.
Theyre always polite and extremely helpful. Very neat and clean at all times
From childhood my family battled with poverty, with a steadfast work ethic, pull yourself up mindset and a heart full of compassion. I watched the management, staff and last but not least my Case Manager Mr. Edward usher in a new level of compassion implement community development practices and do what must for the fullfillment a what every person needs self security and a squad right along with them for the ride.I have over 10k hours of volunteer community leadership hours working within larger Community Services like RedCross, Habitat for Humanity and even Ameri-Corps!Stil the gallantry and character of them makes me really realize how much more I need to learn about living right and with understanding it brought me to tears.Thank God for the Coalition for the Homeless and God Bless them and especially the one who come to volunteer God sees you 👀!!They need a Donate here Button!
The staff was so friendly, atmosphere is very serene. My so and I was there for three months back in 2004, and that time there was a good experience. I especially loved movie nights and poetry class I took there.
The admission here is completely backwards. They want to take in people who dont want to change their life before taking in the people attempting to stay clean and make progress. Also the website has false information. They do not have a program to help you go to school. So for those of us that want to change and better ourselves you might as well cut this out of your plans. You will end up in a worse situation before they admit you.
They really helped me out in my greatest time of need. They also helped me secure more stable housing.
The inside is very nasty in the ladys dorm plus the staff Ms Shirley who works there helped rob me of my cell phone & they turned it back on broke through my codes & stole money from my debit cards its a inside job because I had witnesses & they kicked out all 8 & she now works intake after I wrote a letter they suggested. The place has a apartment locator staff that gets in trouble for helping you find a house an which I was the last one she helped I send people to her & she says she can no longer help anyone & to go see their worker. The workers then pretend to help you and they dont like to feed the homeless on the street closing the doors half hour after open nor give second helpings they rather throw the food away. & you leave hungry except on Christmas & a lot of donations get sent back leaving the donators searching for homeless people on the street to give it to. & thats the truth I am from another state and I was homeless a year ago but I have my same home that housing coordinator help me find so Ill never look back and good luck to whoever needs them !
I love helping people and its a great place to help people.
Awful people as managers.Courtney and Tina are the wrost managers of all time, no social or emotional skills at all.
Best shelter you can get in Orlando but its a struggle to get into. Its a large capacity of people which makes it understandable. 2MEAL a day maybe A SNACK
They are a great shelter for both men and women. They also offer services to help keep the homeless off the street after their stay at the coalition comes to an end
Went today to get help was told i had to go back thursday . so if your homeless have a child good luck . been crying outside with my son he has feet blisters . somebody saw us get refused offer a hotel . hopefully thursday we can get help
Nasty!! Roach infested!! Horrible food half the time! Treat people like prisoners! Too many rules! Staff can get extremely rude with you! Also the staff really have no compassion for the residents who are already having a hard time!! No one wants to live in a shelter by choice! Only ignorance will make someone believe that! Lots of heartless staff!! And unnecessary chores! Case managers rarely or just not at all helpful!!
I was there visiting a friend. I was advised at that time all the services they provide for the community. They are a valuable source in the community.
They provide a great service to those in need. Staff very friendly.
This is a good place for people to get a good start from the pitfalls of Life give it a good try to help is here God bless!!!
Its a new place to start to start a new Life.
The facility was nice and clean. I went to help out for the Holiday and I was really impressed.
The Mens Service Center is a real nightmare..... I stayed there for 6 months and believe me.....a bunch of drunks and drug addicts and lets not forget THIEVES.... No more drug program because they want their clients to remain in their addiction because thats what keeps them homeless and keeps the employees in a job. I do not recommend staying here.
The staff can be nice so long as you keep your head up and do what youre supposed to do as far as a job and were not everything runs a real fast I was only there for 5 months
After I got the first eviction in my life due to being sick and unable to work I participated in the Males Center and my experience was not bad. My Case Worker helped me to get back in my feets in less than 4 months. They are knowledgeable and resourceful and today I have my own apartment. The negative thing is that a lot of residents waste their time there doing wrong stuff and some blue shirt workers dont have the compassion to help the residents and they dont deserve to be working there. In terms of services such as food, medicines, safety etc they should improve. Im giving a five because my individual experience was good and Im very grateful with the Coalition.
If u want to change ur life n save money best place to go
Great interacting with these people. They have amazing stories to tell.
Lie. Lie your ass off.If you seem like you can afford anything, theyll turn you away. Hell, theyre gonna turn you away anyways, just to see if your desperate. Dont go anywhere else, as this place only accepts those that come in daily to bug them. And, if youre staying at another charity, they will not accept you AT ALL. Its $80 a week. They have free/public showers daily 1-3 PM, and laundry once a week 1-3 PM.
OK, This is a great facility for the homeless especially by it being rebuilt for this piolet program. They have a males, single women and a family facility on the campus. Theres a lot of pros and cons to living here and the restrictions given that some of us arent use to but have to re-adjust to stay here with those we normally would never interact with other wise. You have to sign up at the facility in person and wait to be called, its not like the Salvation Army where you pay $9 a night or you cant get in. Its a Transitional Living facility with a very unique design, programs to help one get back on there feet, bus passes, clothing, toiletries, 3 meals a day, a bed to sleep in with 100 other men in the Yellow dorm, theirs also downstairs the Pink Dorm, around the Corner, the White Dorm and the Blue Dorm. All programs are different so please ask questions. When you come into Orientation you get all your clothes washed for you. Their is also a Bike program for those who are working. The staff is well, needs a lot of work as well as the residents being respectful to others but you have a goal, stick to it and use this as a platform. Good Luck.
Great community organization - providing a way for individuals and families to get back on track.
I was robbed by the staff and people who live there its no clean environment and they keep the good donations for themselves and they make you work for some of the good donation with play money we miss out on due to leaving the premises so all hard work is pointless. Its a shady business they also with hold mail if they think its going to help you
Stayed there once on a cold overnight. The food was horrible. Staff did not make reasonable accommodation for handicapped individuals. Orlando lacks shelters for the homeless. They will not admit you for a bed unless they like you. Very disappointed with this place.
A fantastic group of dedicated people who care about people in extreme need when no one else will. Unfortunately the residents are not taking advantage of this opportunity to better themselves.
Its positive for helping people better their self and the community.
Excellent place to get on your feet if you want too
The staff is very rude the food is ok
Nice convenient
GREAT SERVICE AND FRIENDLY PEOPLE!
Good people to help you get on your feet if your homeless
Awful area. Was told I could get help then turned away because of the holiday.
Very helpful and caring people!
People are lovely here and sometimes just need someone to listen.
Said they didnt have any beds open, please!!!!
