I gave 3 stars because the Associates part is not half bad. The initial consultation was a nightmare. I read Dr. Hines little speech about accountability but what does that have to do with being extremely rude and taciturn to someone you just met? A client nonetheless. I would even understand if I had been awful to him but I felt disliked literally within the first minute. People with mental illness are vulnerable and tired. Health care is not cheap and isnt always accessible. I always feel a sense of embarrassment when seeking help but I do because I truly want to get better. He made me feel so low. Just his tone of speaking alone...it was cruel and unsettling. It makes you wonder why he chose this profession. I didnt even get a chance to make excuses for my situation. He thinks he knows you and your intentions within the first minute. Having a degree in psychology is pretty impressive but it doesnt make you a psychic. If youre seeking help, still seek it but dont be to hurt by his behavior. There are others at this office willing to help. If he turns you away, Im positive theres someone more kind and accepting out there. It is fine to be honest, it is fine to be blunt but it is not fine to treat ill people cruelly when you claim to be a source of assistance. I wish everyone the best. My intentions are not to bully him but he can cause harm and I think its important to warn others. (Also I am a born female and he randomly decided to misgender me as male at the end of the call. My hair is short but it is a apparent that I am female. So I was a bit offended especially after how he spoke to me throughout the call).
This is Dr. Hines and I have reviewed my reviews from recent clients who choose to seek help through counseling. I have been in professional counseling for over 20 years and my outcomes have excellent results with some clients who really want help, change and personal success. My approach is direct and goal oriented and my aim to help resolve possible obstacles in clients life. ( Some may call it rude, disrespectful and insensitive) but life does not accept EXCUSES! Most people are driven by emotional cognitive dysfunctions ( lack of self responsibility and mature ness) and delusions (unrealistic expectations) and some continue function like a child. But most want miracles when they enter into therapy. I cannot perform those. People don’t want to take responsibility for their life. You must take responsibility (and grow up) for your own life.
I had a free consultation with Doctor Luis Hines, worst consultation ever. I have speak with others in the past; nevertheless, I want to try a different psychologist to see things in a different view. What a mistake, he was so rude, he listened for a minute and already told me what to do, instead of understand my feelings and emotions and evaluate them first. I’ve been struggling with mental illness for the past 13 years, so I just want to share my bad experience with him, so you can save your time and specially don’t got hurt by his attitude and unprofessional behavior.
Dr. Hines is a motivational mentor for me. He is encouraging and kind in all of our sessions. His wisdom empowers me to be the best version of myself.
Lacks compassion, empathy and general professionalism.
Horrible experience. I called requested an appointment with a psychologist for my teenager son, he was booked to talk with Mr. Hines. On the first appointment (30 min) Mr. Hines has already decided that my son he does not need therapy. He also asks to talk to my husband about the reason for my sons appointment. My son is 16 he can talk about his concerns, and my husband was not the one on therapy. Mr. Hines should listen to my son, earn his trust before start to ask others about anything. Also if we have not seen any need of professional help, we would waist our time!! Mr. Hines was unprofessional and was using foul language on the call.Second appointment comes by, Mr. Hines seem not to remember anything he had spoken to my son the previous week!! How can you counsel someone with out knowing what is going on!!! Ive been in therapy multiple times throughout my life and have never met someone so unprofessional and unprepared. I researched Mr. Hines and according to his LinkedIn account he is a doctor in Ministry (shocking to me because of the language he was using on the first appointment) not a psychologist. I am not diminishing his tile, but there are very different skills and training for each of those fields and I specifically requested a psychologist because of their knowledge and training. Mr. Hines does not have the set of skills to be counseling people, plain and simple.
