I could not be happier and more impressed with Dr. Calcaterra. I’ve seen him and his office for both emergency issue and general check-ups and cleanings. The office is so welcoming (and super clean!). I really appreciate how everyone is so friendly and efficient, from the phone to in person. I was quite nervous about visiting the dentist, but they all put me right at ease. The dental here it’s/assistant did a fantastic job! She took her time and gave me some good advice. And Dr. Calcaterra is so understanding and reassuring. I had an issue that Dr. Calcaterra effectively (and painlessly) evaluated and developed a plan. I loved everything about my experiences. And the best part…I’m no longer nervous about visiting the dentist!

Dr. Calcaterra and his staff are the absolute best. I was beyond petrified of having fillings/ any other dental work done. My teeth are extremely sensitive and difficult to get numb. Not only did he get me numb but the iv sedation was the best! I have had sedation done in the past but never the way this was done. Dr. Calcaterra tailored it to my specific needs. I will never go anywhere else.

Dr. Nick C. and his staff are all so kind and welcoming. Dr. Nick performed a frenectomy on both my seven year old daughter and six year old son. My daughter’s gap closed completely allowing her adult front teeth to settle into place. My son’s was just completed last night and already looks so much better after just one day. Dr. Calcaterra and his staff know exactly how to put a young child at ease. All around wonderful practice!

Dr. Nick Calcaterra’s team was wonderful. I had my wisdom teeth removed and oddly enough it was a pleasant experience. Jessica was a great help setting up all my paperwork, appointments, and insurance info and Dr. Nick Calcaterra was very professional and knowledgeable. I want to give a special shout out to their dental assistants Amanda and Cyndi. They were both friendly, comforting, warm, and caring during the consult and procedure. Cyndi helped keep my nerves at ease during the IV sedation and made the recovery fun and enjoyable. Great team to work with!

By far the best dentist I’ve ever been to. Monica did my cleaning and was great! She explained everything she was doing as well as prevention. The staff is awesome!! Everyone is very nice and personable and make you feel very comfortable. The tv on ceiling is the best thing I’ve ever seen!!

I was referred to Calcaterra Family Dentistry quite a few years ago. I traveled from New Haven and now the Valley. The office is so friendly, the space is always clean, professional, and welcoming. Toni the hygienist is so friendly and accommodating as well as Dr. Calcaterra himself.

All the hygienists are really nice and have always made me feel comfortable they have great bed side manners. Dr. Nick is very professional, to the point, always nice, and he has never made me feel like I had to get work done that is not necessary and always explains exactly what he is doing. I had an emergency once and he answered my call after hours and took me first thing the next morning. The ladies at the desk are always nice and funny. Very clean place too. Handling seeing a dentist during covid very well by explaining protocol ahead and making it very safe. Thank you everyone!

Every visit to Calcaterra Family Dentistry has been top notch. From the moment you walk in when you are greeted with a smile to your time in the chair will be a positive experience. One thing that I despise is setting an appointment and having to wait... and wait... and wait to be seen. Not here, I walk in I barely have time to sit down before I’m taken back and sitting in the chair. They respect your time. My hygienist, Crystal, is awesome. Always makes me feel comfortable. Is thorough, quick, gentle and kind.I’ve had to have multiple procedures throughout the years and Dr. Calcaterra does a great job. Proficient and painless. The dental office is exceptional. It is amazing the attention to details they provide to their clients to make them feel comfortable and welcome. I dont care they are 45 minutes away from my house. They are that good.

In these very uncertain times I know people are apprehensive about going into doctors offices. I had to see Dr. Calcaterra today and they were awesome. From the communication before my arrival to when the appointment ended all staff encountered was awesome. Their waiting room has been altered for social distancing and they did temperature and symptom check before I was seen. Thanks to Dr. C and his staff for taking great care of me today.

Brought my 27month old granddaughter for her first cleaning and to have some other issues addressed. Crystal was absolutely wonderful with Caileigh. Great experience! Everybody in the office treats us well and very friendly. My two kids love it here. The kids room has a TV on the ceiling, so it ease them while they do the cleaning or other procedures. Dr. Calcaterra is very great with kids. All his assistants are also nice and friendly with kids. I went here for the removal of all 4 impacted wisdom teeth. The experience couldnt have been better. I had a complicated case with the possibility of nerve damage, but Dr. Calcaterra was able to successfully remove all 4 teeth with no problems, which I am extremely grateful for! He is very knowledgable, friendly and an amazing dentist. I always felt safe and listened to. Cyndi was my dental assistant and she made sure I felt at ease and always knew what was going on. My whole family just started going to Calcaterra and so far we love it! I took both of my kids (3.5 and 1.5 years) today and the whole experience was wonderful. There were toys in the waiting room, the receptionists were very welcoming and polite and we were seen very promptly when we arrived. There are TVs on the walls and ceilings which made for a calm and easy visit with the kids. The dental hygienist explained what each tool was and what each tool did to my son before she used them. She even let him touch the tools before hand to see how they worked! This was his first time getting a cleaning and I was a little nervous but the calm demeanor of everyone in the office put me at ease. They let my shy, 1 year old daughter sit on my lap to check and count her teeth and were very patient with her when she clamped her mouth shut. This office proved to be amazing with young kids and I look forward to future appointments.

Recently I brought my 16yr old son to Calcaterra Family Dentistry. We were advised to try the office out after my sons severe needle anxiety was making it near impossible to get any dental work done at our normal dentist. From the very beginning my experience was phenomenal! The receptionists were very polite and understanding and I was able to get a consult appointment fairly quickly! The office itself was an hour away from our home but was it so worth the drive and I wish I had known about them earlier! They talked my son through everything and helped put him at ease. When the day came for the appointment everything went so smooth. Cyndi was so helpful and not once did my son have any anxiety! in fact we left the office SMILING! The whole appointment went very smoothly and the dentist did awesome work. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone with any kind of fear or anxiety of going to the dentist! I have already passed their info on to my sons therapist for anyone else who might need work done. THANK YOU for turning what usually is a near tears experience into something positive!

My whole family ENJOYED going to the dentist! I’ve never been able to say that before. Crystal was a miracle worker with my two and half year old. She used a quirky puppet to patiently explained everything to my daughter before each step of the exam. She even held my 6 month old when my daughter needed a potty break. He explains everything, and using language understandable to the average person. My family and I have been patients for approximately 2 years.Dr. C removed my teenage daughters wisdom teeth, and performed major dental work on my husband. I am an out of state college student at the University of New Haven. I decided to stay in West Haven for the summer to take a summer class and to work. I also needed to get my wisdom teeth removed, before they could give me any problems. I found the Calcaterra Family Dentistry through a Google search and I am so happy that I did. I met with Dr. Calcaterra and Erica, a dental assistant, to go over what to expect when getting my wisdom teeth out. He ensured me that it would be simple and nothing to worry about. After getting all four wisdom teeth out, I can say I healed perfectly and did not experience a single complication. I was back on my feet the following day. Dr. Calcaterra and his team really took care of me from the moment I walked in. Not having either of my parents in the area really made me feel like someone was looking out for me. I am happy that I have found such a wonderful dentist out here to continue to visit.

The entire Calcaterra Dentistry team is outstanding. The office staff, the dental hygienist and the physicians offer compassionate care, as well as the atmosphere being upbeat and friendly. I have had my wisdom teeth extracted by them and crowns applied. There is a high level of competency that you can just relax in the chair and know everything is done well.

I had 5 of my teeth extracted here. WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN I EXPECTED IT TO BE! I thought I would be in so much pain and miserable and the following day I did my nails, etc. there was pain but very bearable. Dr. Nick did such a good job and Cindy was also awesome. The entire staff here are great and friendly. I live travel 40 minutes just to go to him and I wish I knew about their office sooner. I love that it is family owned with him and his wife. Dr. Nick is a great dentist. I have had very bad experiences and I am so grateful for coming here! I am now 8 days post op and I am doing a lot better than expected. I have recommended Dr. Nick and his wife to my coworkers and I hope that everyone experiences what I have because the dentist is never fun to go to. They make the experience very easy and anxiety free. Thank you so much Dr. Nick and to Cindy also. There is also a dental hygrntist there that I forgot her name. But she was brutally honest with me but very kind with her words on my dental hygiene. I now feel more educated and safe going here.

I have to say I have never had a dentist and assistant be so kind and respectful of my fears. I am terrified of going to the dentist but Dr. Nick and Cindy made it so I felt safe and never did anything without telling me and making sure I was ok. I needed to get a lot of work done and opted for sedation but was nervous as I take some meds that would make this difficult. However, Dr. Nick was a master at sedation and made it so that I did not remember a thing. He has bee patient and kind to me and come up with a treatment plan that accomplishes what we need to while respecting my fears and feelings. I would highly recommend both Dr. Nick and Cindy, they are honestly the best I have ever worked with.

Just got my wisdom teeth out and everyone here was so supportive and nice. Im usually a wuss about dental surgery but they made sure I felt comfortable and safe the whole time! Will return for future work :)

I brought my kids to Calcaterra when their previous pediatric dentist stopped taking Husky insurance. I had been nervous about the switch because I really liked their former dentist and felt unsure about switching them to a practice that wasnt specifically pediatric. From our first visit, however, my concerns were completely gone. I was so impressed that I wanted to switch to Calceterra myself, but I had to wait until I was no longer on Husky (unfortunately, few practices can take adults on Husky). I was honestly jealous of my kids when they went to the dentist. I especially appreciated how friendly, patient, and caring all staff members are, and the way they get to know and remember all their patients. Unbelievably, even without the gimmicks of a pediatric office, my anxious and sensory-sensitive son would actually get excited about going to the dentist and getting his teeth cleaned, even after they had to treat him for a cavity!! The care that my kids were receiving at Calcaterra was obviously totally superior to the care I was receiving elsewhere. I had just received a painful and probably poorly done root canal (that I wasnt even sure was necessary) at the other practice I was going to. After I got on a private (non-Husky) dental plan, I started experiencing pain in my jaw. I was able to get into Calcaterra right away and received gentle, thorough, and high quality care. When I worried about being able to afford the copay for my insurance, they worked with me to create a payment plan I could afford so I could get the care I needed when I needed it. I was so relieved to be with a dentist I could trust, and I have never looked back. It has been years now, and every time I go, I count my blessings. I just went yesterday for a cleaning. My family is in the midst of a medical crisis that I had told them about the day before when they called to confirm my appointment. As a result, I ended up running late. From the time I called to let them know I would be late and ask if they could still see me through the time I left the office, I was treated with the utmost compassion, understanding, and warmth. It was a much needed kindness in an extraordinarily difficult time. I couldnt let the week go by without leaving a long-overdue positive review.

I recently got referred to this office and I can say Im glad that I did. Im not the biggest fan of going to the dentist (who really is) but all the staff, especially my hygienist Kaylin, are super welcoming and comforting. I was slacking with my routine cleanings so much that I was unaware of a previous filling coming out. I had the next available appointment to fix the problem, and it was so easy and pain free! They have gotten me back on the right track and now I feel more confident about my teeth :D

Went to have my teeth cleaned and they told me x-rays were mandatory. Never in my life has any dentist insisted on x-rays before a cleaning! Plenty of info can be found in Google showing dental x-rays have been shown to cause thyroid and brain cancer, so x-rays should only be used when absolutely necessary. No wonder there is a cancer epidemic! When I refused the x-rays for health reasons, they refused to clean my teeth! Unbelievable.UPDATE: I went down the road to another dentist and he cleaned my teeth without insisting on any x-rays.

I became aquatinted with this dental office when I needed an emergency wisdom tooth extraction and no one else could take me on short notice. They took me in the same day later in the evening working around my work schedule. They did an amazing job and made a miserable situation tolerable for me. The staff is helpful, the dental care is top notch, and the prices are affordable. I have been going there ever since.

I had to get a wisdom tooth out (a very painful one!!) and they were super sympathetic, got me in quickly, and generally delivered a totally stress free experience. I found this practice because they participate with my dental plan. I had tried several other practices first. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and I have not experienced any wait times to see the hygienists or dentists. Ive had a crown and a root canal and Judy has been able to give me insurance estimates and financing information up front - no surprises. Ive had a couple of dental emergencies and the staff has done a great job accommodating a last-minute emergency repair or two. Its close to I-95 and very convenient in Orange. I highly recommend the practice.

I hadnt been to the dentist in an embarrassingly long time (no, Im not telling how long) for fear that all my teeth would be rotted out and need removal, and that the dentist would berate me and top it off with an I told ya so for putting it off for so long.My concerns were unfounded. Today I had a root canal performed with IV sedation. The team was not only comforting and welcoming but paid attention to me throughout the entire process and the only thing that I felt was the IV needle going in. I remembered opening my eyes once or twice when I felt like I was waking up and was able to let them know and before I0 seconds had gone by I was out again and very comfortable. Given that the procedure took 3 hours I couldn’t imagine doing this any other way.Thank you to Dr Calcaterra and team! Even our consultation was very comforting and welcoming which was such a blessing. My husband and I knew we had found the right place! Will use them for all future dental work from now on without fail!

Simply the best dentists office out there. Staff is accommodating and professional, and the dentists know exactly what they are doing. Furthermore, the incredibly knowledgeable Dr. Nick offers safe sedation dentistry options -- something that has proven to be a true lifechanger for my oral hygiene. I am afraid of dentists to the point where it used to impede my ability to take proper care of my mouth, making me cancel dental appointments left & right in the last minute. Now, I can take a pill prior to my appointment and know that Im in good hands, relaxing in the dentists chair and allowing the professionals to do their thing quicker.Cant say enough good things about the people there. I have developed severe dentist phobia in the last few years and I try to avoid the dentist whenever possible. A few months ago I cracked my tooth and I did not know what to do. Just the thought of having to have it repaired was enough to make me nauseous. I did not want to go to my family dentist because the last time I was there I could feel them drilling during a filling!!! I remembered that Dr. Calcaterra had seen me once at my family dentist when he used to work there and I remembered how for once, I wasnt scared! I knew he had left the practice but I googled him and found his practice! When I was looking online, I saw how informative and informational his website was and I started to feel at ease. I called a few days later and spoke to Judy at the front desk who was so nice to me and really helped me to feel comfortable. She helped me with all the paperwork and assured me that I would be in good hands! I went in for my check and Dr. Calcaterra assessed what needed to be done. He remembered me and my dentist phobia and was so accommodating, making sure I felt comfortable the entire time. When I went for my procedure, everything went smoothly (from what I can remember haha I had conscious sedation) and it felt like it only lasted 2 minutes. Dr. Calcaterra even called me later that night to make sure I was feeling alright.I cant tell you how amazing it has been to actually bite into a cookie or a candy bar and not have to stop after the first bite because of my cavities!! I am overjoyed. I havent felt this confident about my teeth in so long!Calcaterra Family Dentistry is such a wonderful place with super nice staff, accommodating hours and the desire to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Dr. Calcaterra is so great and I have been recommending him to all my friends!Thank you for the great experience and I will see you for my 6 month check up! :)

My hygienist Kaylin was wonderful and well skilled. She took her time and made sure to make me comfortable during my visit, even during my x-rays. I will go back!

My husband and his family have been going to this office since he was a child. A few years ago, when Dr. Becker retired, he sold the practice to Drs. Calcaterra - we are thrilled with the way they have maintained the same level of service, kindness and dedication to state of the art technology that Dr. Becker and his staff always fostered. My 3 year old had her first dental visit here, and they were so great with her - she points out the office every time we drive by and was so excited to go back for her second visit this week. We highly recommend Calcaterra Family Dentistry.

I hate the dentist and everything about it. Ive had horrible and uncomfortable experiences in the PAST until I was guided to give the Calcaterras a shot. Absolutely phenomenal service by all staff. I still find the idea of going to the dentist not exciting, but theyve definitely made it extremely tolerable and they have my business for the remainder of my dental needs. Ive had a multitude of elaborate filling repairs executed through sedation dentistry and its like I was never there. Really warming experience... cant believe I just said that, but its true. The entirety of the staff has also been exceptional at providing the patient with at times, some odd requests. Whether its to explain the entire procedure or to change the TV station, great all around satisfactory service.Reading the other reviews, you guys really needed to be called out on your fantastic service that others didnt mention well enough.Thank you.- Paul Sekas

Dr. Carla handed a filling for me today, and I was in and out of the office within thirty minutes. It took longer for the novacaine to wear off than it did for the entire procedure. I was home and pain-free before I knew it.

I love this place and Dr Nick is phenomenal along with the entire staff. So friendly and so helpful. Needed a tooth pulled after suffering for a few days until I couldnt take the pain any longer and they got me right in that same day. I highly recommend Calcaterra Family Dentistry to anyone that wants a truly great dentist for themselves and family. I recently left my current dentist and ha e become a patient here from now on.
