From the moment I walked in I knew this place was top notch. Alex did a fantastic job of cutting my hair. I simply showed him a (very pixelated) photo and we were off to the races. Not only did he capture exactly what I was hoping for, but also talked me through the whole process.While some might shy away from the prices (definitely not on the low end), it was definitely worth the quality cut. If you dont care what your hair looks like, I would suggest going somewhere else. However, if youre looking for a great experience where care and attention to detail are at the forefront of service, this is the place to go.The scalp massage and hot towel was icing on the cake! Id give this place 6 stars if I could - will definitely be back!

I got their best most supreme haircut and beard with Jonathan. The experience was really good. Very good conversation with Jonathan. Hes such a good person with good stories and communication skills. I asked him to suggest a good haircut for me since I have a little bit of thinning hair. He gave me a bald fade and I really liked it. It was just a little bit too bold for me. And he trimmed my beard a little too low. Ill try to explain it to him next time because Ill definitely be back. The facial was the most amazing experience of it. Was super stoked to have Ceez cut my hair at 5:00, I get people run late.. talking 22min later, no check in or “sorry I’m behind” the dude left me sitting there, very unprofessional and inconsiderate.. I have a birthday tonight I’m celebrating now having to go without a fresh cut

Great ambiance, great bunch of barbers, and great cut & shave. The crew tends to play lofi and instrumental hip hop and nature documentaries on TV. They offer hot towel and an option to style your hair after a cut - Ive discovered a lot of great products this way.I dont go anywhere else! Ask for Nathan

This is a nice establishment. Johnathan use to cut my hair and I always liked it. But they are a too pricey for my Wallet now. I paid $60 for a regular haircut. Johnathan is $75. I had another barber in the shop cut my hair he was nice but he cut my hair too low. I wanted a fade not a bald fade. Before I realized it was too late...but it will grow back and not that bad. Im a female. My current barber was unavailable. I should of been more clearer it seemed. I would recommend this shop to men who are willing to pay their prices $$$. Because they do have a nice establishment with nice barbers but its not for me because of the price.

This is the best barber shop I have ever been to. I have been going for a couple years now and always left happy, relaxed, and looking great. It was at the high end of what I was willing to pay for a haircut, but worth it. With the recent price increases, sadly I can no longer justify the expense. I will miss this place. If you can afford it, you will get an excellent cut and great service.

I used to love this place. It was the only place I would cut my hair in Chicago since I moved here in 2018. The staff is very friendly and personable. The haircuts are always professional and fresh. The staff is also very skilled especially with the straight edge razor. Unfortunately, things have changed in 2020. Their haircut prices have increased 33%. Wow! I dont know if I can go back at these prices especially, since the barber (Alex) that cut my hair is no longer there.

Outrageous prices.I was a big fan of this place. The barbers are professional and fun. The owner is a class act and I thoroughly enjoyed getting my hair cut here even though the prices were much higher than I had paid at any similar establishment. Starting in 2020 the price for my haircut went up to an even higher price, as they raised prices by around $20. It was no longer at the top end of my price range. It was now way above.The service here is amazing, and if you can rationalize spending $65+ tip for a basic mens haircut and hot towel, then by all means go to Dapper.The price is just way too high for me. Bummer. Now I have to find a new place.

Excellent work! I seriously value a skilled a straight razor artist and they did not disappoint. I’ve definitely paid a lot more for a lot less. He took the time to make sure my haircut which he did not do during my visit still matched up with my beard trim. Much appreciated!

So, I identify as female- keep this in mind when reading this review. As a female, I have never been to a Barber Shop, but boy have I been missing out all these years. Dapper was such a great experience. I enjoyed getting to know the barbers, and they always made me feel welcome. They have some pretty incredible services for peeps with facial hair- I plan on getting my partner in there someday soon. The owner was wonderful. He has great taste- and he was down to earth. I thought it was well priced, but again I say this as a first timer. I liked how you are able to schedule your appointment online, and I really loved the atmosphere. The place was clean and seemed kid friendly. Check them out- your Mother wont mind at all if you do.

This was my sons favorite all time haircut. Loved the hot towel at the end, especially. I was even willing to pay $30 for a 12 year olds haircut, but I cannot pay $45. What on earth made you raise your prices like this? So disappointed.

A wonderful update on a classic barbershop. Earnest, serious, professional barbers in a beautifully appointed, comfortable, inviting shop. Prices are a total bargain for the level of service and outright skill. Try the basic cut and you’ll be back for more. The next time I’m there I’m doing the shave as well.Also, nicely curated music and outstanding conversation. The barbershop version of a hip, neighborhood restaurant where all the chefs are outstanding. Go. You’ll love it.

I want to fully support my barbershop that I’ve been going to for a while now. Everyone has their opinion but I can’t fathom bashing a establishment. I’ve gone to multiple of the barbers of the shop. Never have had a bad experience. Im always pleased when I leave and can’t wait to go back. I would recommend this place to anyone. Also price point might be higher however you are getting a full experience not just a haircut. Go somewhere else if you aren’t happy.

Comfortable yet trendy setting and surprisingly kid-friendly! Excellent African American hair cut and style!I have a 3 year old who cannot sit still and the stylist Victor was very patient. He let him hold the tools so he would not be scared. They turned on a kids TV show on their big screen for him, and they worked quickly and carefully. They gave him candy when he was done.I looked around while waiting and could see that this would be an excellent, relaxing setting for an adult customer to get a shave or haircut. I showed him a picture of what I wanted beforehand, and the hair cut turned out great!Kids haircuts start at $25 (it was $25), but it was worth it!

I have not yet been to this barbershop. I am just leaving this review because I appreciate all the other reviews. This sounds like the perfect barbershop for me, and not just because it is close to my house. Hoping to make a stop this week. Not worried about how long the haircut will take or how long the wait might be.

Love this place. When I lived in the city I went to Petes on Elston so I had to find a good barber when I moved to Oak Park. Dapper definitely fills that role. Its missing the garage rock horror movie charm that I love at Petes (and Pete of course) but the barbers are friendly, skilled and the environment is pretty chill. They spend a good amount of time on your cut and make sure you look good before you leave. Great place!

Amazing. Let me break down exactly how fantastic this place is and my first experience going here.First, I called just a few hours before Dapper was closing and asked if they had an opening. They said Yes come on over we will squeeze you in.Got seated probably 30 minutes to close with Jonathan. Described the type of cut I wanted and showed a picture and he knocked it out of the park. Had a shaggy beard and he trimmed it up perfectly. Did a close neck shave on the fly with all the nice touches (hot towels, oils, etc.).The whole time we had a great conversation and he imparted some great knowledge and advice on how to be, well dapper. Threw in some gel, styled my hair and finito; best hair cut experience Ive ever had. We were 45 minutes past close, but he did not mind, wanted to make sure I got a great cut and experience.Great barbers, great place, not super expensive as compared to some other higher end barber places in the city.Go to this barber, seriously.

Great place to get a haircut! Do premium cuts and shaves at a competitive price! Very professional barbers! Jonathan is the man!!! It is right next the the Oak Park Blue line stop, so you can get any more convenient! Its way worth the ride to Oak Park from downtown for a cut and a shave then hit the nice bars in Oak Park before heading back.

Great shop! Ive been coming here for around 1.5 years. Now I cant even get a haircut unless I book two weeks in advance. Ive had both Jonathan and Victor cut my hair and both are high quality barbers. They also carry these really great steel combs

Finally, a place where you can get a decent shave! I went in, and Victor took very good care of my face. I have a thick beard and sensitive skin, and shaving is usually at least a little problematic for me. I had an important event to go to, and needed to look better than I usually do, so I went in and got the best shave Ive ever had. Dapper harkens back to an earlier time when these sort of things were normal; hot towels, soothing lotions, and a close shave with no nicks or cuts! I suggest making an appointment in advance, and I strongly recommend that you give this place a try!

These guys are great. They put a lot of care into their service and it shows in the quality. I didnt use to ever pay more than $15-20 for a haircut, but this is worth it. I was both very pleased with the results of the haircut and beard trim, and also enjoyed the treatment and conversation.

I have been looking for a nice shave parlor for sometime now...and must say I was very impressed. Victor provide the shave and seemed very knowledgeable and experienced...I have been to other places and have always rated The Art of Shaving as my top pick but honestly I have to say the shave I received was on the same level or even better and better priced. I definitely see my myself continuing to go to Dapper.

Ive been shaved ng my own hair since 1985 ...my beautiful wife wanted to see me with some hair ...so I grew it out for three months ..I came here with an idea of what I wanted and Oscar gave me exactly the haircut/style I was hoping for and I received world class treatment... I have found my barber for life and my wife is beyond happy with the results

I think the place is a joke, I want to try the place and I made an appointment to my surprise the person who was cutting my hair didn’t know what he was doing (Victor) neither the guy across the chair of him you can see the lost look on his face and the fear because they were nervous and didn’t know what to do, for the price they charge you will think there’s a really good place to go but is only a joke that’s what I got the day I didn’t want to drive couple extra miles to go to Mario and pay $10 more and get a real hair cut, the same day of the haircut I made a complaint on their website till now almost 2 months ago nobody ever called me to apologize or explain something or say something the place is a joke don’t waste your money or time.

Overprice? NOT WORTH $40. The people before was much better in price. The reviews are fake. Dont believe them. Do this look like a $40 cut?????
