The gym is great. The classes, instructors, staff is for the most part great. Except, one childcare employee who does not like watching babies that do not meet her specific idea of milestones, outside of the 6 month requirement. This lady who “watched” my baby for a max of 45 minutes told me to never return once staff asked me to go get my baby. I have been a member & going consistently for only 7 weeks as we are new to oak harbor. Never had an issue, until this episode. This gym has lost our business. Do not hire a child care worker/manager to watch 6 months & up, if they’re annoyed by a baby. Our baby did not have a runny nose or snot. Your employee removed him from my son to create added stress onto our baby. As a mom herself, she should know the difference between drool & snot. I emailed & reached out to thrive, no response. Typical. She told my children & I to never to return to thrive. Our family will not return.
Child care at this location lacks empathy. My 6 month was rejected and was told “not to come back.” Petty words from an employee whom isn’t happy. Cancelled membership and its a shame, we love Oak Harbor and now we have a sour taste for this business in the place we love. Perhaps your experience will differ.
Im so sad to no longer go here. Unfortunately I was injured under the instruction of a trainer. I saw 2 Physical therapists, and visited an orthopedic surgeon. I experienced pain for a long time as my injury was a difficult one to heal. My SI joint was sprained stretching one of my ligaments. I am a mother to a 3 year old and an RN student. The gym didnt compensate me at all or even give me a refund for my training sessions. I spent 1000s to fix this injury. It is so unfortunate when a business is unable to act with dignity.
This is the best gym on the island! There is a packed class schedule with all types of classes from yoga to dance to BODYPUMP and cycle. The personal trainers are all very well educated and trained. The kids room is a safe and fun place for kids to play while their parents work out. It’s very clean and the front desk staff are kind and courteous. We are blessed to have this facility on our island.
I highly recommend this gym above any other! There are several different class options available, and choices suitable for alllevels/ ages. There is also a selection of great personal trainers available for one on one sessions. There is something here for everyone!
Update Summer 2019While I am not thrilled with some of the cost cutting I am still thrilled with Thrive. They worked behind the scenes to accommodate my concerns and find a mutually workable solution. I hope that I can keep attending until my child is old enough to get her own membership so we can work out together. She has been going to the kids room since before she was 2 and her enthusiasm is the reason I have kept in shape for the last half decade.Original:My time at thrive has been very positive. They have a child watch service. It is either $20/mo for unlimited or $4/visit. My daughter loves it.The gym itself is relatively spacious, has classes or equipment and feels like a good space. The machines are hit and miss, they used to do a better job of maintaining them but they have somewhat fallen down on the job there. It isnt usually so busy you cant get into the equipment you want (although I go relatively early I hear after 10 it can get pretty crazy). The workers are awesome and make you feel like you belong.Go, it is good for you.
Clean, professional, good equipment.
I recently moved from Europe to Oak Harbor and I must say that it’s a pleasure to train there.Everyone is so positive and well behaved. The gym is very clean and the staff super friendly.I only wish it was a little bit warmer inside so that I won’t have to wear an extra sweater.
The best community gym ever! Love working out here. Employees & members truly care about each other!
I love this gym but can you please turn the music down we all mostly have our own its just so loud I dont like to hear it thru my headphones when they are up all the way
Equipment and trainers are very good. However, there are problems when staff fails to properly notify a customer that his credit card was refused, and neither calls or sends an email to let him know. But instead management turns their customer over to a collection agency. And management sides with staff without researching for the facts. My correct credit card was billed for months, then suddenly their billing reverts back to my old credit card. And this is where the problems began. Plus I have to send emails to management requesting a response, which is their canned response that its out of their hands. Which I interpret as they dont care, they just want their money. So, Im forced to deal with the collection agency verses a compromise with Thrive management. Very POOR customer service!
Very good early morning workouts. Very nice staff. Well maintained.
Great group fitness classes, especially Booty Barre! I have been a drop-in just for these classes but, I think it is well worth it with Their current membership special to join. Friendly staff!
Great gym, great staff, great equipment.
My husband and I visited Thrive community fitness on September 7, 2019. Their staff was not welcoming at all. We were not greeted when we walked in and could tell we were not welcomed at this gym. After my husband and I walked around the gym we went back to the front desk to sign up, the front desk associate was bothered by our questions regarding the gym and its hours. We thanked him for letting us take a look at the gym but no longer was interested. I love the gym itself because it has everything we need but the staff is very distasteful.
Very professional and friendly staff. Place is very clean.
Great gym but a lot their group classes get cancelled.
Really nice gym. We enjoy the daycare, it makes it so easy to go when you have young children. The staff is helpful, professional. Changing rooms are clean and theres enough lockers for everyone. The gym is very well taking care of, everything looks new and clean. The biggest problem would be the dumbbell rack, there should be more place to use those. Not enough benches is also an isue. There is more than enough cardio machines, witch is great. And the classes seem like fun.
An awesome gym with the ability to accommodate families with children by having an affordable quick childcare while I get my workout on. The number of classes available for the health nut are many. The staff here are super friendly.
Equipment and gym are clean. 2 squat racks and plenty of room for weight lifting. Plenty of treadmills and cardio machines. Only problem is they appear to close whenever they want on the weekends despite the hours posted on the doors.
Wmhow is the free weight / weight section in this place?
I like the variety of classes offered, Ive tried cycling, abs, cx worx, treadmill & body pump. Body pump & treadmill are my favorites. All of the instructors are helpful & friendly. They are very motivating throughout the work outs. The staff in the daycare is so patient, we recently bought Crystal a gift for Christmas because we were amazed at how good she is with our kids. I love how they sanitize the toys daily & how they are always adding new toys to keep the kids busy in there. It shows how much they really care about their customers.
Great classes!
Been a member since 2013. I like the staff, and it is a place where I feel comfortable.
I really enjoy the 24 hour access at Thrive! I enjoy it because, I can go work out and not wait on using any equipment in the gym.
I was visiting my daughter from South Carolina and on Saturday she made me get up and take the 7:30 RPM class with Joy Allen and then the 8:30 Body PUMP class with Amy Bryant Brinkley and Suzanne! The instructors are awesome and I love the layout of the gym as well as the atmosphere!I will be back when I visit again!
My mom and I joined last month and we are having so much fun in the group classes that it doesnt seem like exercising! The instructors are very inspirational and fun! So glad that we found you!
Great place to work out. Clean and especially great after close when it’s quiet.
I come in to make a monthly payment for my mbership. The last six months the employees have been rude. And dont seem to have time to take care of those of us coming in for payments. I get told I havent paid last month. Or over charged while I am holding receipts for each month. This month Im told about an annual fee that Im going to be charged also. As I call bull crapthe I havent every been told this or been notified of this. So now my payment has been refused. Been a member for three years. May just take my business elsewhere.
Great, clean place. Excellent staff
The customers service here is bad and the people who work the desk have little to no training. The manger ignores phone calls and only cares about $$$. Find another gym this place doesnt deserve your business.
Massage chair, classes, equipment options, affordable prices
Offers free showers through spin Cafe from 1 to 3 p.m. very wonderful
I joined thrive about a year ago, unsure of the whole idea, since I hadnt worked out in over 6 years(when I was in highschool). I right away felt comfortable. The staff is amazing and always friendly and even though Im not a gym regular they make the effort to make me feel like I am. Brittany has even gone to the extent to letting me try a preworkout out when I was unsure about it, instead of being pushing and selling it she explained the benfiets and let me try it. And the classes they offer are always a good group of people !
This is my home away from home. Welcoming, inviting.
I have been coming to Thrive Community Fitness for nearly 3 years. My experience here has been very positive from the overall staff to the personal training I have done. My personal trainers, Todd Ritter and Bridget Middleton worked closely with me for the last 2 1/2 years and through rigorous exercise and dietary changes I have lost 33 pounds and feel great. Additionally, Boot Camp with Kyle Isaacson and Biggest Thriver Programs were an extra bonus that helped me to reach my goal this year. It has been hard work, but the encouragement of staff and fellow gym members have made it possible. Thank You. Thrive Rocks!
Great atmosphere but it’s always packed and is much more expensive than other gym options in the area. Limited hours unless you pay more for 24 hr access.
Too little space and layout makes no sense. They did not make good use of what little floor space they have. At least it is clean though.
Feels like every time I come here a new machine is broken. That and the leaking cleaner bottles spilling everywhere and the lone, dirty towel meant for every cardio machine. I’ve been to other Thrive facilities that don’t feel as neglected as this one.
I love this gym. great employees and customers
Outstanding gym: Friendly staff, courteous patrons, incredible smoothies, extremely clean and well managed. THIS IS WHAT A GYM SHOULD BE AND IS.
I dont know if thrive works to keep customers happy- but my experience here was horrible! I come to this gym on a weekly baisis even though i dont have a membership and on saturdays- they close at 7pm. I walked in the door at 6:37pm and they told me that the computers were turned off and they werent accepting money. I told them that they didnt close until 7- and i still wanted entry. They then proceeded to take my money and said they will deal with it later i cant even walk 10 steps before they ask me how old i am. I told them i was 17 and then they said i cannot work out without a legal guardian to sign me off (which my mother had done previously) i know this was just a way for them to not have to deal with it later so i then took my money back and told them that i work out here regularly and that it was BS how they were not letting me in. They didnt care at all. They were just too lazy to turn the computers back on and put the money in the drawer! I will not be recommending this gym to any of my friends- or my family of 4 to go to this gym- and my family have been looking to buy memberships at this gym starting in September. I have never had such an outrageous experience at any gym- and i will be taking my business elsewhere- even if it means driving out of town.
Its an okay gym. Their prices have gone down now that theres a planet fitness. The machines upstairs are kind of falling apart but are still work. I like that the weights and cardio machines are separated. They have hydro massagers and tanning rooms so thats a plus!
Great staff I love the classes and equipment
Their really are not many gyms on the island with owners and staff similar to Thrive that really care about the members compared to other gyms.
Inconsiderate people sitting on a weight machine using their cell phone instead of getting the workout done and getting out of the way so others can use the machines.
Great people, especially love the classes!
Great gym at a fair price
Ive never heard of ANY business, let alone a gym, that closes at 3pm on Saturday. Did I mention they dont open until 8am everyday? Horrible customer service. Fix your water fountain.
Never been here it dont know why I came up
I love this gym.
Difficult to cancel after we received extra charges.
Clean gym
My second home:)
Awesome
