Best place to get your haircut for men in the Novi area hands down. Friendly staff, very helpful, theyll definitely give you some suggestions if you dont know what would look good. Make sure to call ahead or make an online reservation, they can get busy sometimes. All their stylists are great

Edit, in response to the owners note below: Im glad you want to take good care of your employees and avoid late hours on weekends. There is a simple way to achieve this without misleading your customers: close earlier. If you dont want employees to stay beyond 4:30 or 5 or whatever, close at 4. This makes it crystal clear that you arent taking customers for sign-up beyond that time. But dont claim to be open until 5 and then turn away customers who have taken the time to drive to your facility when they arrive at 4:30 or 4:40 -- thats bad business, and frankly its dishonest and lousy customer treatment. Ill let my review stand as-is.Original review: I just showed up about 20 minutes before closing after driving almost 25 minutes, and was turned away because there are 10 people in line. Ive been coming here for years, but this is probably my last visit. Never had this happen before and I think its awfully rude. New ownership maybe? I could understand if Id walked in at the last minute, but really? So long JJs. Adding a star because the service was good in the past.

Really great place to get a haircut, all the barbers here are very pro and fun to have conversation with. The haircuts are very well done, they also provide suggestions and I had one last time couldnt be anymore pleased. Kudos to Caleb!! I highly recommend this place!

JJ’s is legitimately a reason why Novi feels like “home” to me. I’m super glad that I have a place that I can go to always get an amazing haircut.Caleb, Josiah, and the crew are all amazing. Great group of guys. Family owned and operated with the grandsons of JJ the original owner. Had a great conversation with josh and will be back again if I’m in the area.All these reviews complaining about the place being busy are stupid…they are busy for a reason folks! Best barbershop around! It started as a barbershop back in the goodol days but now they do it better then Lady Janes or Hair Mechanix!

Great barbershop. I have really tough straight stiff black hair that most hairstylists have trouble working with, and if I can, I always frequent Korean salons for that reason. Gave JJs a shot with Josiah. Great haircut, great conversations, good price. I even had a picture of the haircut that my partner wanted me to get for her best friends wedding, and he got it done no problem. Highly recommend, just schedule early bc wait time can be an hour if youre not careful.

My favorite barber place by far. Been coming here for the past 3ish years. Before, I was bouncing around the barbershops in the Novi area and this one is by far the best. All barbers do a great job and are very pleasant to talk to. Price to quality ratio I believe is unmatched. High quality cuts for a low price makes this place unbeatable in my opinion. I have been getting my hair cut here for about 2 years, in that time I have found that several of the barbers get the job done well. The problem I have is that the website and check in features (on JJs website) have not allowed me to schedule with a particular barber even though the option presents itself, it does not work in my Chrome browser. This has not been an issue until the haircut I received yesterday, after washing my hair and seeing the actual quality of the cut for the first time, I was shocked. This was the worst haircut I have ever received.Additionally, the estimated wait time on the website has been off by an hour or more the last two times I have checked in online.I enjoy the family atmosphere and type of barbers at this shop, but the businesses inability to leverage the tech it has chosen for customer service has me switching barbershops.

The lady didn’t listen to what i wanted and gave a bad buzzcut i asked for a faded buzz cut instead it was the same clipper number all around, and then said “oops well we can’t go back” only took her 3 mins it felt rushed. Won’t be coming back.

Took my kids who desperately needed haircuts. Liked how the website mentioned estimated current wait time and felt that it was pretty accurate. I enjoyed the simplicity of the shop, not overly decorated or fancy but nice, clean and welcoming. I really appreciated the attention to detail during the hair cuts. I never felt they were trying to rush to get to the next client, it felt like we were the only clients. I stayed with my youngest who is 3 and loved how the barber talked to him and asked him questions. Might be why this was his best haircut, he knew what was coming because he was told. Pricing was spot on too. Will be bringing both kids back again.

First time here and enjoy it very much! Joels cut was so great and he got exactly what I wanted. I like the industrial style of this place, the people, and service. Love the interaction and communication with Joel, who told me he will make a note on what we did so next time I can get what I got or work from there; such a lifesaver. BTW, openning at 7am on Saturday is another great plus to me! Will definitely come back!

Best place for a true Flat Top. J.J. is the king when it comes to them. Its a dying art that they keep alive. Also prices more than fair and the staff is professional and very talented and experienced.

I think I have finally found a good barbershop that I can continue to visit as long as I am in the neighborhood. Barbers will actually pay attention to what you want and deliver the hairstyle. In a nutshell, I had a bad experience the second time I went to JJs and wrote a negative review, but the owner Joel reached out to me soon enough and offered his apologies (plus a free haircut for my next visit). That, in my books, is something worthy of commendation as it shows they give a crap about their customers satisfaction and take criticism positively. This skinny young dude who cut my hair seemed to be in such a hurry; and he cut my hair in the most random way possible. He clearly didnt want to spend time getting it right. He messed up the taper on my back, didnt change the blade on the straight razor (even when I explicitly asked) and had THE most unprofessional cutting strokes Ive ever seen - his clippers kept pinching the back of my neck the whole time he was working there.The first time I went there, a sweet lady (she has purple hair) cut my hair and it was absolutely fantastic. One of the best haircut experience Ive had.Did not have an appointment, so had to wait for an hour and a half. That sucked, but the rest of the experience was very pleasant.Terra (apologize if I got the name wrong), cut my hair. She was very professional -- she never rushed, listened to my preferences, and weighed in with her professional expertise. What turned out was a nice haircut. She even told me about an excellent hair product!

I am very typical about my haircuts, but JJs make my job very easy explaining what I want. Joel is so smart that he istantly understands what a customer wants and provides his valuable suggestions as well which always work out to be positive. Joe is equally good. The place is neat and has a nice environment. I am coming here from past 4 years and was never disappointed.

Great place. I was welcomed by my name after I signed in. They took notes for how my hair was cut. I had a quick lunch break to get my hair done for a funeral. They kept the notes so anyone can read next time and I get the quickest service (no appointment, no specific barber and discounted). Id recommend to others and will return.

I was able to be seated quickly even though I didnt have an appointment, Joel took time to confirm exactly what type of cut that I wanted, and the 2 dollar straight razor neck shave was awesome. Beyond that, the shop was clean, inviting and in good overall shape. I will undoubtedly be a customer for as long as Im in the area. Two thumbs up!

I am here from NJ and had a barbershop that I have been going to for about 20 years. I move here and am worried who will be able to cut my hair and how they will do, plus I need a straight edge razor shave at least once a month. I find JJs and the Owners son(Joe) is the one cutting my hair and giving me my shave. Let me tell you this place as a family reminds me of my barber shop in NJ, the father son and nephew are the people working there. It seems this is the same situation here. Getting to the Haircut, he was attentive and cut my hair exactly like I asked him to, and then there was the shave. I have to say the shave was probably the best shave I have ever had. My skin was so soft and the shave did not hurt at all. Overall my experience from beginning to end was awesome. Now this whole Idea of trying to get other workers there an even chance to gain business, I dont necessarily believe in that, but will try it once and try a random walk in and see how the next person does. If not good then I will have to stick with Joe.

I found this place not too long ago and am glad I did. They are the most professional around. I swear they are almost scientific in their approach when I hear them discuss things with some of the more complicated hat cuts. When I used to get my hair I could never remember what number and other details but these guys store notes on their computer. Great place and atmosphere

They keep detailed notes about your previous cuts which ensures you will get the look you want no matter who cuts your hair. Joel is awesome! And so is everyone else. Ive been going there for a few years now and after moving to Lansing I drive home to get my hair cut by him. Cuts are dead on every time and you always get exactly what you want. Not only are the haircuts great but so are the people. Extremely nice and actually remember you when you come back. We are visiting Novi from Memphis, TN. My son needed a haircut and shave so we looked for a barber shop close to where we were staying and decided to give JJs a try. They are super friendly and did an excellent job on my sons hair and with his shave. They even gave us a recommendation on where to grab some lunch since we didnt know anything about this area.So glad we picked such a great place to try. Thanks JJs.

Very friendly. Disappointed at the discretion used when approaching different hair types. Being biracial I would assume I would get directed towards a barber/hair stylist whose got the experience and confidence to execute a haircut with my hair type. Instead they threw the first person available at me and the whole experience was very awkward because clearly this person had not much experience with my hair type. Again, very friendly but a little common sense and communication goes a long way.

Overall this is a great place, I usually come here for my haircuts and am very pleased with their work, however, today I told the lady to keep 1.5 inches on the top and she only kept 1.2 inches. Although I was not too happy with my hair this visit, JJs is full of talented hair stylists and I am hopeful that my next experience will be much better.

Been going to JJs Barbershop for a long time now and have no complaints. Always friendly when I visit and never seem to wait very long.

My first visit there I sat down at 8:55am. Got seated in a chair at 9:50. 1 barber managing a crowded shop is not good. Got out of the chair at 9:57 with an attempted haircut that would take 30-45 minutes to do right. There was no precision or effort put into this, and for that I will not be back. (Johnson is not my last name for those it may concern, this is a joint account)
