I have been out with a lot of guides and Donald is the best guide I have ever been out with. He is a excellent fisherman and an all around great time to be out on the water with. Whether you are a new fisherman or experienced fisherman, I wouldn’t look anywhere else

I normally do not rate 5 stars on anything but I would HIGHLY recommend that you book your next fishing trip with Donald. He was not only extremely knowledgeable about the fish we were catching, he was also very calm and collected even in the heat of catching fish. Our group and the other group all limited out on salmon by 1030 in the morning and we ended up catching a ton of rockfish after that as well. I would recommend that if you do not hear back from him after booking, that you simply send him a text reminder with the questions you have and he will always get back to you. This trip was such a memorable trip for me and my party EVEN THOUGH Both me and my wife were sea sick for a majority of the day. Absolutely book with Donald. You will not regret it!

This was my second time fishing with Don at Pastime Fishing Adventures. My son and I had a great day fishing for oversize sturgeon. The action was non stop and left us with many great memories to cherish.Don is a great captain and works hard to make sure you are successful. We look forward to fishing with him again in the future.

If I could leave a zero I would. DO NOT BOOK W/ THESE PEOPLE! WARNING! DO NOT BOOK W/ THIS COMPANY! We are from out of state here for our anniversary. Booked in advance. Never heard back from anyone for details of the trip. Tried to find it according to address no such place or address. Tried calling. No answer and voice mail full. Tried to send a text no response back and now it seems that Im blocked because it wont even ring any more. Very unprofessional. Thanks for ruining our anniversary. Were from a state w/ no ocean. Took us 2 days of driving to get here and for what? Great scenery..... what a disappointment.

Donald was an excellent guide we had so much fun And no time he made our experience memorable! So much so that we decided to go a second time and go deep-sea fishing one with him for halibut what A great trip! If you’re looking for an excellent guy who absolutely knows the ocean knows where the fish are and is very pleasant this is the guide for you! Can’t wait To go again!

Extremely dissatisfied. Booked a full day salmon/bottom combo + crab for 4 people months in advance. After no correspondence we called to confirm. Don had apparently forgotten, but said he had another boat he could put us on. Arriving at the dock Survivor guide services is there. No crab pots. Jeff says he doesnt do that. Annoyed we board his much smaller vessel and confirm that it is indeed a full day combo trip. We limit on salmon by 11:30 a.m. and he abruptly tells us we are done & headed back to the dock where he proceeds to fuel and ready his boat for the next day on our time. No bottom fish, no crab and we were still charged for a full day despite being back to the dock by 12:30. I made several attempts to contact Don with no response. Appalling.

We spent the day fishing with Capt. Donald and had a blast. Ive been on fishing trips from Alaska to CA to Florida...Donald was the most expert guide Ive fished with. Donald found all the fishing holes and created an amazing, memorable day. Thanks Capt Donald. We will be back again and again..

I try not to leave bad reviews, but sometimes its the only way to make a difference...I scheduled a halibut trip at least 7 or 8 weeks in advance. They said I would get a call shortly before, to confirm. Never heard from anyone. I tried calling numerous times, and couldnt leave a message because their mailbox was full. No response via text either. Very strange. I dont know what we did wrong, but I can not recommend this place.

Stay away from this company!! I have booked a Halibut fishing trip for my husbands birthday after no correspondence I reached out to Donald and apparently I canceled the trip. He wont answer his phone and only texts back.I spent hundreds of dollars to come down to Newport for this awesome experience that was ruined by someone that is unprofessional and dishonest. Please dont waste your time with this company 🙏

We had a great time on our trip with captain Don. He is extremely knowledgeable and took the time to explain how to do it. We fished for two days and he always took the time to make sure we had good pictures and shared his knowledge and expertise with us. His equipment is top notch. His communication was excellent. We knew we were going to have some rough water so we stayed in touch before we left on our trip to make sure it was going to be ok. We are a very unlucky bunch of fishermen but he coaxed limits of halibut and several rockfish out if hiding for us. We will be back! Thanks Don!

Went out with Donald for my sons 21st Birthday, we had a blast! Caught lots of different fish, he was very knowledgeable and funny. We will definitely go out with him again.

I am extremely pleased with the service I have received from donald here at newport oregon charter. Me and my friend drove 10 hours to fish with them and unfortunately the waters were to rough to go on the trip for the week we had due to the waves being 7 foot and the boat being 28 ft. Donald took the initiate to find me a new charter the next day and make sure that we were still able to get our fishing in. Customer service at its finest

My wife and I had a wonderful day fishing with Captain Donald today. Very professional very knowledgeable. Has a great relationship with the coast guard. Nice fishing equipment put us on the fish limited out in a hurry. Had plenty of fresh real bait to use. As well as wonderful hand tied flies he ties himself..Was courteous to everybodys needs. Hope to plan another trip with Captain Donald in the future.

Wife called to have a charter booked. Took over a week to hear back. Was told we would hear back a couple days before to go over details. Didnt hear back until the day before through a text message. Thought everything was good to go. Got a text the morning of saying coast guard wouldnt allow boats to go over the bar or something like that. Didnt bother to try and re schedule. Left us with nothing. Had hotel booked planned our while trip around this fishing trip. Wife text amd asked if we could get scheduled for the next day. We were told there might be an afternoon trip. Never heard back from them after that. Will never recommend newport charters to anyone nor will I be trying to book a trip with them again.

Our family had a fantastic day fishing with Don! We caught oodles of rock fish, a couple Lind Cod and a bonus Halibut! Topped off the trip with a huge haul of Dungeness Crab too!Fishing with Don is like a day on the water with friends. Very accommodating with a sprinkle of good natured fun!I would highly recommend anyone to book this adventure - we had a ball!

I have fished with Captain Don for many years. He is knowledgeable, professional, accommodating and truly cares about making sure Each and every trip is memorable and productive. I really appreciate his positive, laid-back personality and fun sense of humor. I would go fishing with Captain Don every day if I could. The day could not have been better, mild temp with fog in am and then a balmy 65 and blue sky with 3 to 5 foot swells. Limited out (49) before lunch, with bottom fishing and crab pots (46). I highly recommend Pastime Fishing Adventures to all who would like to have a great time fishing. Capt Don is highly skilled, professional and very personable. He made all feel comfortable and excited to fish. Gonna book another trip very soon.

Had an awesome day on the water with captain Donald. Fishing was insane with constant action and lots of big catches. Donald was very helpful and knew exactly what he was doing. Was even able to put some inexperienced fishermen on some nice catches.Definitely the way to go if you want to load the boat with fish.

What a great day with Captian Donald Koskela with Pastime.I arrive 15 min early and he was totally prepared to depart. Very safe operations as we went 16 miles offshore in 7’seas at 12 sec and 2’ of wind on top.His 28’ Alumiweld is a fantastic boat that handles the ocean great under the skillful watch of Captain Donald (who holds his Capt license to 100 miles offshore).CD worked hard to keep us on the fish and we got or limit and we’re back at the dock before noon.Stable boat, big fishing cockpit and first class tackle.So great to have a really safe ride in a boat with only six on board. Great camaraderie.

This is my 4th trip with Donald. He is the man. Always lands us on the fish. Cant wait for our next trip with him!

Had a great time catching our limit of Halibut on opening weekend, Donald was very knowledgeable and helpful!

Captain is always there w/ a net to help pull in your catch! No matter how many lines he is detangeling, hooks he is rebaiting, reels he is checkinging for slack, etc. We told our Innkeeper at Channel House that we would be fising with Captain Don in the morning - she was very excited for us, she was full of rave reviews of our Captain and he lived up to the hype!
