This company makes things super easy for a good fishing trip. Everyone hit the limit per day on Wild Coho, also we got about 10-11 crabs (for those we participated on it) would definitely come back next time Im around.

Best experience ever, it was our first time deep sea fishing and the captain and deckhand were so helpful. Caught a 33 inch chinook and the boat was only 3 fish short of maxing out. Everyone also got their limit in crabs. Would recommend the Spindrift to anyone and everyone!

We had an amazing experience with Yaquina Bay Charters on a recent salmon fishing trip. The spins drift put us on fish as soon at they stopped. It was a frenzy! We even saw a whale! We all limited in salmon and crab. Left at 6 am and returned to port by 930am. I will remember this trip for life!!

Had a great Salmon and crabbing trip today with my teenage kids. Yaquina Bay Charters did a great job from start to finish. The Captain and crew were helpful and took care of all the details so we could just catch a ton of fish and crab.

I was on the fishing trip Wyatt Potter reviewed. I agree with him that Mark the deck hand was abusive and unprofessional. I fall into both categories he described. I am elderly and have physical limitations. With that said I would without reservation recommend Yaquina Bay Charters. This is my fourth trip with them and my experience has always been great. I have used other companies in Newport but YB is the safest and the best. Their response to this situation has be excellent. I look forward to fishing with them again.

Went out on the Gracie K with Captain Shannon and Justin. We had a incredible time. We had some trouble at the beginning with because no salmon were biting but they brought us out to do some rockfishing instead and everyone caught something! The trip was as a ton of fun and we would recommend this company to anyone. Everyone from the crew the staff at the company (Rachel) were friendly and made this a great trip!

Quick update: I went on the half day salmon trip on 7/9 and 7/11 on Spindrift. Limited the boat and picked up crab pots on the way back and back to the dock by 10:30. I got a Coho and a Chinook both days. 23 lb Chinook today! Woohoo!!!Did a halibut trip and had a blast. Got our limit of halibut for the boat and picked up crab traps on the way in. Back to the dock with a load of fresh seafood by 4:30. Deckhand Justin was great and the captain kept us right on the fish.

All the services you need. They do licenses, filet and clean the fish, and cook and clean the crab for you (for a small additional fee if desired). They have light and heavy tackle poles. We almost all got our limit. There is a cover over the seating area. Everything is very well organized. Also for bringing the crabs up they have a machine do it so it cuts out some of the labor. Thank you so much ☺️

This was our first trip to the Oregon coast and we really wanted to do something oceon fishing. My son and brother in law joined in on the adventure. I requested the Crackerjack based on reviews and captain jack did not disappoint. He got us on fish every stop and the everyone in the boat git there limit of rock bass. Captain jack and his deck hand Tess were very nice and accommodating and added humor in to make it a great experience. Even though i ended up getting sea sick it was a great experience and they were very accommodating, checking on me often to see how I was doing. Though we havent been on a different boat we highly recommend Yaqui a Bay Charters and if you can, get on the Crackerjack.

I have been lucky to know Captain Jack and Captain Shannon for 9 years and to work for them for 3 of them. They are the best fishermen I have ever met in my life and consistently, other charter boats would try to find where they were fishing to follow their lead.They have a strong sense of safety culture aboard their vessels which can be a rare trait in the charter industry. The bite can sometimes be slow when the water temperature drops suddenly or when there is a full moon but they work tirelessly to find where there are hungry fish. On those days, they always make sure that everyone is having fun even when they are struggling to keep the lines tight.One thing people might not see is what they do for their deckhands. I have a solid career in the marine industry because of the time and care Jack took to develop my nautical skills beyond just being a deckhand: he helped me earn my 100 Ton license.This is a family run business with more heart and soul put into it than any other business I have had the privilege of knowing. Very few people see how many hours of labor everyone working there puts into the boats and the office behind the scenes.I STRONGLY recommend a fishing trip with them, no matter the trip, the bite, or the season. I would also add that I strongly recommend a deckhand position with them for a young person looking to get started in the marine industry. You are in good hands at Yaquina Bay Charters.

I cant say enough good about Captain Jack and his deckhand Tess. Ive taken other charters and have never seen anything like them. The Captain took the time to get to know everyone fishing and was wonderful helping teach my children how to fish. My youngest had a rather rough time with the water but still walked away saying what a great time he had. It could have turned him off of fishing forever but the crew saved the day. I highly recommend them due to their professionalism and customer service. Our trip got cut short due to a medical emergency, fortunately everyone is ok. We came back after 3 hrs of a 10 hr trip. Captain and crew handled it perfectly and followed all protocols to a T. They proactively offered us a full refund, and even offered to take my daughter and I out to pull the crabpots from the trip so we could get more boat time in. (Everyone else was in the other party)Definitely a class act and I will use them again when we come back‼

Fun day of Halibut fishing. The crew, Justin and Capt. Shanon, worked hard to make sure everyone caught a halibut and offered extra drifts in case you caught a small one. Overall, a great experience and Ill definitely go again!

I took my two sons out today on the crackerjack boat. The captain and deckhand were great. The captain kept us on the fish all day even though the bite was slow we still got limits on fish and crab. I will most definitely return . They were very friendly and to top it off the deckhand was a female that outworked any other I have seen. Great job

Ive used this charter service several times fishing for Halibut, Salmon and Rockfish. Each time Ive caught my limit of the targeted fish. I recommend requesting the Gracie K as the crew is amazing.

As first time goers on the ocean it was a freaking blast. Trip was supposed to be a 6 hour trip (half day) we left dock around 6am and returned at 9:30am because everyone including us limited out. Crabbing was a blast aswell. I honestly recommend this company to anyone for first timers.*ATTENTION FIRST TIMERS*if you are put on the Spindrift like us we recommend sitting down on the trip out to the fishing spot. Also if you meet Mark older gentlemen he is to hot headed and very disrespectful to older people people who are new to fishing on the ocean. Honestly I would give him a half a star because yes he did his job but he didnt want to teach new comers and people with disabilities. Thats why they get a 4 out of 5 from us.

Group of 9 caught our limit with Captain Gerald and Mark on the Spindrift. Weather was perfect. Crew knew exactly where to go and how to make it fun for the younger kids. We had great communication with the office staff answering any questions we had. Will definitely be booking again next time we are in Oregon.

We had a really, really great time with these folks! Theres a number of choices in the Newport area and weve been on more than one charter over the years - first time with this one. The captain was very helpful getting us orientated and helping the kids (and adults) feel comfortable. Be sure to come prepared with one of those styrofoam coolers and dry ice for your crab or fish. Dramamine before you go is highly recommended! Sure was fun - thanks!

My five year old son and I went with the crackerjack. Weather in the late morning was supposed to get pretty dicey but the captain got us on fish first drop and about three seconds fish on! Just back from the Crackerjack’s first half day rockfish trip of the season. Great day, great fishing, great staff. Passengers young and old, and everyone limited out. New deckhands were trained, and were very helpful. Cap J is a gem. The new docking location is convenient and easy, as is parking (so far!). Yaquina Bay Charters is a class operation. I know I’ll see them again soon.

So for Mother’s Day my son who is in the Marine Corp decided we were gonna have a little adventure. Now mind you I haven’t seen him in 4 years. He decided to book us a fishin trip with Yaquina Bay Chartes in Oregon. We got this amazin boat called the Spindrift. The Captain Mark realized I was a little uneasy about being on a boat in the middle of the ocean so he did his best to ease both myself and my son into it. We had an amazing time caught a ton of fish and even got to see some orca. All in all great day and a wonderful Mother’s Day with my baby boy. Went out on the lingcod rockfish 8 hour Adventure yesterday. Family of four with two adult kids. We limited out on the rockfish which was 28 fish total, caught 2 lingcod although two people in our party didnt fish for cod cuz they were seasick.Dont forget to take Dramamine. Also make sure to dress warm cuz its pretty cold. Rain pants with be a good idea. We didnt crab.Captain Jack and deckhand Anne were great. They kept it in the water and untangled. Cant get any better than that.Catching Rockfish is a lot of fun. Sometimes we have three on one pole. Catching the lingcod with the 32 oz weight is a lot of work.So much fun.

We recently went to Yaquina Bay Charter. Our first time on the ocean. We went on the Gracie K. The captain Shannon and deckhand Dillon were great. They made is comforrable andbtold is everything we needed to know. This was an amazing experience and was so fun. I will absolutely go back again. There was also a party of 7 on the boat and they were so friendly. My son Cody and brother Carlos found themselves right at home as well. Captain Jack and his absolutely charming deck hand Anne, took us on a great morning fishing trip. We limited out on rock fish, giant crab and also scored several ling cod. Highly recommended, as this way my best chartered experience to date.

Captain Jack and Anne did a great job on the Cracker Jack keeping us as comfortable as possible and helping us catch lots of fish. Their sense of humor and lightheartedness kept the trip enjoyable. They were also excellent at helping us at every aspect of fishing. It was a memorable day I wont soon forget.

Went out on a combo trip 07/22.Out at 6:00 AM and back before noon. 10 people fishing and all came back with limits on salmon, rockfish and crab.

Went out for a half day fishing. Captain Jack and Ann were awesome. Even though most of the boat got sea sick they handled it so well. We had our nephew with us that was sea sick and didnt want to fish. Captain Jack kept on him and finally got him to reel in his own fish. I really enjoyed the captain of the Gracie K, and the deckhand. Both very helpful people. But from my experience with other rockfish trips.. I would say it’s definitely not my favorite. Although the Embarcadero is my absolute favorite place to stay. I don’t know if they’re related. The reason I only get the three stars is because although near shore halibut provided no fish for anybody or bites.. The rockfish was a bit disappointed. The current in the ocean was a bit heavy that day and the gear that they had us on was extremely light and I had a really hard time feeling my line drop. The captain said drop at 30 feet but anyone without any fishing experience or very little experience is not gonna know what 30 feet is and when the tackle is to light it actually pulls it out more than down. That’s how I felt the day went. The only time I was actually catching fish was When another Fishing Person gave me a 4 ounce wait to drop. When I put that weight on the pole I literally was the only person to catch fish the next two times we drifted. Nobody else did. I felt like we were moving more than we were fishing. You can’t catch fish if your pole is not in the water. They simply did not have the correct tackle on the poles to get to the fish. Maybe because they were afraid to lose the tackle. I don’t know. But when the guy next to me tangled his hook into my line the captain told me to release my spool so he can pull my line to his hook and take it off. And at that point in time the 4 ounce weight dropped to the bottom and got snagged and I lost it. And I didn’t catch another fish again for the rest of the trip. Nobody was wearing masks besides me, nobody clean the bathrooms after use. We were all on one side of the boat and definitely closer than 6 feet. Three of us crabbing.. One crab pot was lost they had to break it off. All in all I just simply was not that impressed. But the employees were very nice and friendly.

Been fishin with Captain Jack aboard the Crackerjack for 15 years off-n-on. Always succesful, always fun. He knows where the fish are from Salmon to Halibut to Rockfish and crabbing to boot. Deckhands are knowledgable and pros.

Spindrift is amazing, and so are the captains!!!

Not the best experience. there were 2 of us that went and my review is a consensus of the 2 of us.12 hour Tuna trip was 270$ which was pretty reasonable compared to other charters. so if you wanna go cheap then this is a good option. the boat we were on was not build for comfort. 12 hours, 30 miles out in the ocean, it would be nice to at least have some cushions to sit on. The ocean was VERY rough, the trip probably should have been cancelled. people couldnt stand and reel at the same time. a couple people fell down. The deck hand was constantly yelling at everyone. I understand you want to direct people, but you do not have to yell. I was charged36$ to have them fillet 6 fish. lastly, there seem to be an overall distain for the customer from the guy in the office to the people working on the boat. everyone on the boat caught 3 or 4 Tuna, I think it would have been a better catch if the ocean wasnt so rough. so they will get you to the fish. Take rain gear, even if its not raining the ocean spray drains from the roof right on top of the seating. all and all, treating people better, including filleting of fishing in the price, and a few small cheap comforts added to the boat and it would go from 2 stars to 4.

Everyone maxed out on Rock fish and one salmon released. The crew was exceptionally helpful funny and knowledgeable about what was going on from fish to crab. From the phone call to Rachael to set up our fishing/crabbing to actually getting on the “Crackerjack” with Captain Jack and deck mate Ann. This was my first deep sea adventure!! Awesome experience. Customer service was first rate. The captain was entertaining, even though hes probably done this about a thousand times. :) The deckhand, Anne, was incredibly helpful, friendly, and worked her butt off. The boat got a nice haul of salmon and our limit of crab after only hauling half our pots. The price was amazing and there were people waiting at the dock to fillet your fish and cook/clean the crab for a very reasonable price. They have everything you need available (including ice) except your own cooler to haul your catch home. I wouldnt hesitate recommending them to anyone. Obviously there are no guarantees but we saw whales and dolphins while we were out as well. Availability will vary but I was able to book for a single two days before the trip, so even if its last minute, its worth giving them a call.

Took my girlfriend out for a day on the water fishing Rockfish and Ling Cod and had a blast! We bought the crab tags ($20) and it was so worth it, ended up with twelve Dungeness to take home! Theres a filet service available when you get back to port which is well worth it, just be sure to bring some extra cash. Ann and Captain Shannon were friendly and helpful, absolutely would book again!

This was so much more than a whale watching tour, Captain Shannon was an amazing source of knowledge and information regarding the fishing industry in Newport. We felt like we were on the Discovery Channel. First mate, Robert was kind, thoughtful and quite funny as he helped us spot numerous whales and pull up our overflowing crab pots.We like to take the road less traveled, our boat was not crowded and the eclectic group on board clicked with the help and humor of the crew. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a more intimate and different experience than large tours. If you are interested in the history of the fishing industry in Newport I would strongly recommend Captain Shannon, his knowledge was encyclopedic.A very sincere thank you from Colorado

We had a blast on our fishing trip! The captain and deck hand made the trip so enjoyable. We caught our limits on rock fish and crab, and enjoyed the company of everyone - amazing experience all around!!

My wife and I booked the half day whale watching / crabbing excursion. We rode on the Spindrift with Jerald and Mark. It was an absolute blast. We got really close to a whale and then took turns pulling up crab pots which was a lot of work! Youve gotta pull if you want crab! Afterwards they offered to cook and clean the crab for $1.25 per crab. My wife and I left with our per person limit and had way more crab than we could eat so we shared with our neighbors. It was great. 10/10 experience.

We had a great trip with our 8 and 10 year old. We caught Salmon and Rock fish. We would definitely go again.
