My husband and I were at the mall with our two sons. After walking by this barber shop we asked the boys if they wanted to try it out. I walked in and asked the young man the price for a line up for one son and a fade for the other son. He said $10 for line up and $15 for a fade. We left our teenage sons to get their haircut while we continued to shop. When we came back to pay there was another gentleman there who told us we now had to pay $15 for the line up. My husband asked why did the price change? He told us he charges differently. The issue we had was we never invited him to cut our sons hair. When my husband questioned further, instantly the atmosphere became very aggressive. We were treated with such disrespect. He was using foul language and speaking to my husband in a threatening manner. I stood by and watched in shock while my husband had to engage this young man. I was so confused as to why things escalated so quickly. The barber that originally quoted the price tried to deescalate the situation. The rude barber spoke to my husband like he was prepared to fight him. Here is my advice...Dont Support This Business! There are many barbers in Newport News that offer kind service. The men we encountered were immature and extremely unprofessional. I am always eager to support young black people but this was unacceptable. While I was pleased with the actual cut, no good cut is worth that level of disrespect. I will never go to this barbershop with my children again.
Despite being in the mall, this place is the absolute GHETTO. Customer service in this place is AWFUL and they have too much drama going on between one another. We will NOT be returning. The reason why I gave it 1 ⭐️ is because the young man did a great job on my son’s head. Other than that, it would be none. Run! Run! Run! Run to somewhere else other than this place.
Can not cut white people hair!!!! Young boy totally screwed my hair up. Worst barbershop Ive ever been to. Then the other barbershop was to busy to stop and help the guy cutting my hair, had to get up and walk out. I wish I could give zero stars to thos place.!!!!
I dont usually leave reviews, but I often check them before visiting a location. After reading some of the reviews for this shop I was some what discouraged from going to this location, but it was Sunday and my options were limited. I have to say contrary to what some of these reviews say I was actually pleased with my visit. I was greeted by all the barbers in the shop when I entered, the shop itself was clean and the barbers were playing low music, and sports on some of the televisions, I had even noticed that one of the barbers turned one of the tvs to cartoons for a kid who was waiting for his father to finish getting his hair cut. little things that made a difference to me was the fact that the barbers had their barbers licenses posted in their areas, which let me know that these guys were trained and not just some guy off the street. My cut was simple, high & tight, and it was executed perfectly to me, especially compared to some on-base cuts that take 2 mins and leave your hair lop sided (additional plus they have a military rate). I can only speak on my experience, but I would say experience the shop for yourself before counting them out.
I travel a lot with my Job and needed a trim for an important business meeting I had scheduled the next day. At the time I visited all the barbers were cutting and I had an opportunity to see each of their work hoping to scout out the barber that I wanted to cut my hair. In the past Ive gone to barbershops where there was one or two good barbers but I must say all of the barbers at Flashlight Barber shop did pretty good work, I ended up going to Tim due to him finishing before the other barbers, but man did he do a good job. I left out of that shop feeling like a new man. I was so impressed I had to leave a comment and a decent tip. When your haircut is done right, you just cant help but feel good about yourself, and believe me when I say, this shop is it. Im telling you, check out the guys, Tim, Darryl, Ben, Donte, Dee and anyone else i may have missed, their just a quality group of individuals and next time Im in town, Ill be back
Do not go to this place if you want a good cut, no matter what you tell them they will still get it wrong, I came out of that place looking like Elvis Pressly. The dude with the dreads tucked in a hat cut me, horrible barber yo, the fade was alright but the top was horrendous, i had to come home and fix the myself lol, safe to say i will be staying away from these guys for a while. Im sure a couple of the guys know what theyre doing but definitely not the guy who cut me.
Only guys in the pennisula I have had who can do a proper tight fade, no matter who in the shop does it
Theyre not good, respectfully
Asked for an inch off of the top of my head and walked out with an inch left of hair on my head.
