Got an inspection same day as I called on a Friday and they fixed a few things required to pass (tag light and front breaks). Easy in and out. Kind people, fair prices.

I visited this place awhile back to get a headlight replaced. They had to take off my bumper and tire just to access my light. I was a walk-in and my experience was great. I sat there and talk to the owner and mechanic the entire time. Great service, conversation, and fair prices.

I had my car inspected at this shop 2yrs in a row and had very good experiences. This shop was recommended by a trusted coworker. Both times I received friendly customer service by owner and mechanics. I didnt have a long wait for my inspections, I got there just after opening time on Saturday. Both times I went the last Saturday in the month. The first inspection I had a nail in my tire, the mechanic showed it to me and patched it. Days prior to my inspection I did noticed a slow leak. I needed new wiper blades on my second inspection again the mechanic took them off and showed me how damaged they were. I recommend this shop based on my positive experience.

The older man was mean as a snake! I really believe he was trying to give me a hard time. I will never go back!! Will pay the $20 again to get reinspected elsewhere, where customers are treated equally. He wants me to remove my parking sticker for work after it was already approved by state police. Being nice goes a long way. I should have read these reviews before hand. Your attitude sucks!

Wouldn’t even give these people a star. I asked the gentleman (not so gentle) about how to get in their building or where to park cause you really can’t park anywhere, and he told me there was 4 in front of me (okay cool that’s fine) so I asked if they were busy around 12 and he said “no cause we’re trying to go home, we stop at 11, (definitely says y’all stop at 4 but okay maybe y’all have changed) so either get in here now or forget about it” . Very f*****g unprofessional. Cheer up old man.

I called about a state inspection and told the guy I could be there in 10 minutes. I pulled in the parking lot 13 minutes later to him getting in his car to leave. He looked at me and said, You told me you would be here in 10 minutes, its been 20. I told him it had been 13 minutes and his response was You can fill out a work order and wait. I have to go. If you had somewhere to be so badly, why even tell me to come in? And excuse me, but arent you open right now? Im sorry, but most of these reviews are right. Absolutely awful customer service. I wish I could comment on his work as a mechanic, but I couldnt even make it in the front door. Im not at all surprised you had to move to a smaller location sir!

Wish I could give this place more stars. In and out quickly. I only reccommend updating your number on this Google Business listing as I called and got a disconnect tone. I went in person anyway since I live down the street and everyone was friendly. Good communication about issues on my vehicle and very fair repair prices. Will be back!

Dont take your vehicle here! I didnt want to even give one star, but its the least I could give. Asked for an inspection and oil change and left my vehicle. 20 minutes before I dropped my vehicle off, I made a video of all my lights working and also a video of my instrument panel which showed everything was fine. No check engine, no trouble or warning messages. When they call to tell me its ready, they said they had to replace 3 bad bulbs. Come on, really? In 20 minutes 3 bulbs went bad? When I picked up the vehicle it was missing and skipping (engine). Check engine light was on and message center said maintenance required. When I got home and checked the oil, there was no oil even on the dipstick. Had to put 2 quarts in just to get it to read. I wouldnt let this shop work on my bicycle after this experience! Dont take your vehicle here! Update: Found Mass Air Sensor unplugged, I guess they think everyone that comes in is stupid......

Terrible location to get in and out of. They also waste your time and gas. Called ahead to see if they’d be able to do a car inspection. Was told if I was there before 4 they could do it. I arrived at 3:45 and was told they were done doing inspections for the day. If you couldn’t do it then why lie? Would have taken 0 effort to say, we are done doing inspections for the day. I would’ve have been mad at that. I’m upset because you wasted my time. I could have just went somewhere else. Just a poor business practice.

Calvin & Nick are the best! As a walk in they did my state inspection last min and fix the issues all in less than a hours time AND at a decent price! THANKS GUYS!

This is in response to the poor review left by BJ Buchanan. That review was not meant for A1 Fastop but R.E. Michels. He is unsure of why it came up under A1 Fastop but we both love A1 Fastop. We bring our personal and business vehicles there and have always been treated fairly and our problem attended to promptly. In fact, both of my children recommended me to them before I even brought my car in the first time. I highly recommend them to anyone that needs service on their vehicles. They are so helpful and accommodating and they deserve more than 5 stars!

If ur a woman take a man with u cuz theyll get u... Supposedly did 2 diagnostics in less than a week... Shouldnt the first diagnostic have told u what was wrong???

Sway bar on a 02 Camry was checked and had a slight movement and the car was failed for inspection. You have got to be kidding me! I will not return! Every car that came in from new to old was failed for inspection. Everything on my car checked out except a sway bar on the left side that the apprentice found. Not the actual inspector! Since when is that a part of the inspection?!?!

Extremely unprofessional.He passes inspection for some people for $$$ and then play by the book on others (beyond the book).he failed me for outer tie rods because my driver side was bad and then told me i i have to fix both sides... And he wouldnt pass it untill i i f both sides ... I told him the passenger side is not bad, he said its not yet but it will be .I can understand the bad one but to forse me to fix something that is not broken.I wish i know then i could have called the state police to show them.And then the hours and how rude he is.

Took my Prius to get its state inspection at the end of October. I had literally waited until the last minute to get it done. I read some reviews and as far as state inspections go its first come, first served, so make sure to arrive early if you dont want to wait too long. I was told it would be a two hour wait, which was fine with me since, like I said, I waited to the last minute to get my inspection done. They were true to their word, in about 2 hours I was out of there with a new state inspection sticker on my car.Other notes, they only accept cash for state inspections so make sure you bring cash with you. It seems to be a small Mom and Pop shop, their lobby is small but they have comfy couches to sit on while you wait, and an old tv set in the corner. I prefer supporting small local businesses rather than big box stores. Sadly I think I overheard that theyre going to have to move soon because its getting too expensive to stay where theyre currently located. Unfortunately Ive seen that happen to a bunch of places in the short time Ive lived in Newport News.

They are not honest with level of inspection conducted. They fail inspection literally because of small thing. If there is a rating less than one I will give negative -10.

Honest and fair. Owner is fun to talk to and will speak his mind! I asked him to explain the negative reviews which he did and the people leaving them were not being fair. Their inspections failed for legitimate reasons that ironically were not expensive to fix. Ill be back here for the honest work. They wont kiss your rear here but they will do what you need and tell you like it is. Cash only for state inspections but cards are accepted for everything else.Again, the negative reviews are explainable and they can tell you about them all.Thanks A1!

What was once a great and fair priced shop is anything but now. I am still paying for the mistakes made at A1 Fastop, literally. Maybe it will be easier to number the experiences.1. Needed a new alternator. Upon leaving the shop my car overheated and leaked all antifreeze out. Went back, they filled it up and I went home. Kept leaking. Took it back two more times, and they told me to stop over filling it (keep in mind I never put antifreeze in), and they said they could find no leaking (I took video and pictures of the leaking). Finally had to take it to Firestone, and they showed me the puncture in my radiator from this piss poor job of taking it out to put a new alternator in. My radiator was perfect upon arriving at A1. This was a $350 fix from Firestone.2.Back to the alternator. Fast forward a little while, and I start hearing this loud clanking under my hood. I lift to see that the belt is hanging off, and a bolt had been sheared off and was now on the ground. Took it Firestone again, and low and behold, 3 bolts had not been fully tightened properly and had slipped out, one being physically sheared off and was still stuck in place. They had to move my engine block to actually fix it. Thank God the sheared bolt didnt fly at my face when I opened the hood. Firestone informed me that the bolts were not properly secured when the alternator was replaced. This was a $603 fix.3. When replacing my alternator, they lost all the Honda screws that keep the underbody cover on, so after I left, it was literally dragging on the road. Firestone had to make new ones for me to fit, as A1 had already disposed of them.4. For whatever reason, when fixing my my fathers car, A1 proceeded to cut his exhaust pipe off. Clean off. My dad had to finally sell the vehicle, as it was too much maintenance, and the exhaust was the last straw. It sounded horrible, and Firestone could find no reason warranting cutting off a good portion of the exhaust. In fact, they were baffled.Please, save yourself time and money by avoiding this auto shop, its just not worth it. I have paid alot of money to have the mistakes fixed, and it has been extremely stressful and costly. I dont want anything from them, only for this not to happen to other customers.

Went for an inspection this guy tried to charge me $450 for $112 worth of parts plus $225 for labor I knew how to fix the part so I spent the $49 fixed it and went somewhere else and passed

I went to get my 2014 Ford Explorer sport state inspected. After a 2.5hr wait they tell me both headlight assembly units are loose. Mind you I just took the truck to Ford for some work a week before and they performed a multi-point inspection and everything was fine .So this place wanted me to buy the headlight assembly which cost a few hundred a piece and over $100 for labor. I thought this was crazy since this car never failed inspection before. I took my car back to Ford and they said the assembly was not loose at all. I would have wasted a few hundred dollars if I would have listened to them. Smh.

They are unprofessional. If you go for inspection with your headlights functioning. They will end up disabling your light and want you to fix light with them. Customers service is negative. Knowledge is zero

I never been to this place but its pretty funny I buy a Vehicle from 1stChoice Auto Sales n it has your inspection papers that it pass the sticker legit but once i got in car it needed tires a transmission rebuilt n etc so I guess yall just got a deal going on no way it should have pass that right there i guess its the business lol
