Hello everyone God bless you!!! First let me start off in telling you it was by the grace of God we found our forever mechanics!! We love them, they are very professional, honest and top of the line mechanics!!! We found them in a moment of extreme need literally our car was smoking and we had just got it! We couldnt find anyone to attend us!! They saw us right away and they have been taken care of us ever since 2019!! Actually now looking back this review is long over due! Later on in the year we had a mechanical malfunction in our engine. Where a piece of the intake matiphor went into the engine and our car completely shutdown in the middle of the street! We got towed to there shop and they help us all the way through!! They helped us get the engine replaced with the warranty and made sure things were done right. They aways give us advice and offer us options. They truly think of the customer. We highly recommend them!!! They treat us like family always so attentive and kind!! Anytime we come to the shop, Its home!!Dont waste your time anywhere else! We live in queens and wont go anywhere else. We take that bridge straight to our forever mechanics! :)

Insanely unprofessional. Called twice to confirm I could come by for an emissions test was guaranteed and assured within one hour of calling. When I showed up they lied and said that they were too busy to perform the test, while the supposed owner or manager was surfing the internet.

These guys are the BEST. Completely legit and trustworthy Toyota tried to charged my 2000 for an issue. I came here it was only 150! Always ready to help and explain the root of an issue so you know why you need to pay what you pay. Plus they do NYS inspection. Highly highly recommend!!

I asked if they use compression fittings prior to the job. They said no because that is illegal. Then, they used compression fittings for 2 brake lines. ILLEGAL because it is so unsafe.Do not take your car here. This is the most dangerous shortcut you can take in car repair.Don’t tell me I am wrong. See the pic above. Quick & amazing service and most importantly very nice people.Visited for state inspection here.Total time spent 20 minutes.10 for waiting because I was in the queue. Remaining 10 for actual work.Last year I’ve got my car inspected at one of the Mercedes dealer and they took almost two hours even with appointment. Eddy came to help when my car needed a battery jump. Wasn’t sure the jump would work and other companies were going to send separate vehicle for jump and tow and they say if the jump doesn’t work you still pay ( so that way U just give in to the tow which is more )Very helpful was Eddy he jumped it and saved my money and was very careful considering I broke down on the west side Highway during evening rush hour .Hope you don’t end up in a my predicament but if you do call these guys

NYC Auto Repair and State Inspection is as good as it gets! This shop is efficient, highly skilled, and honest. Mario and William, the managers, and everybody else there are attentive and know their stuff. (They loved my 2002 Mazda convertible too.) They run a tight ship. Appointment times are honored so I suggest you make one first.A welcome experience after so many disappointments and shenanigans over the years. All the Google reviews are accurate and I felt compelled to write one myself for their excellent employees and professionalism. Needed a NYS inspection done and I arrived impromptu Thursday AM 07/30. Needless to say, they were busy and the manager asked me to come back within the hour. I did exactly that and while still busy - they took me in as promised and conducted the inspection while I waited. Running a auto shop in NYC looks tough - especially with the limited space. These guys make it look easy and their friendly demeanor differentiates them from the rest. Go here, you wont regret it!

I have been coming here for over 3 years to get my Volkswagen fixed and I am always happy with the results. The staff are very knowledgeable and professional. As a female customer, this is important to me.

I call and made a appointment for 9am next day. When, I got there, I was told they were full and couldnt see me until at least a hour. He said, first come first serve. They try to work with me to get my inspection. Just understand they may not honor your appointment and I drove hour plus to make this appointment.

Went for my yearly NY DMV inspection. Called the day before, the person instructed me to get there 9am. It was very quick(15min) and hassle free. It was a new vehicle 2020(yr 2020). Price was from the table of inspection for NY state.

NY Auto Repair...oh how youve saved my life so many times.TL;DR -You need your car worked on? You need a state inspection done? You want to feel respected and have your car treated with respect? You want honest people working on your car? You want to drive your car and say Wow! This feels great! Then go here. You will NOT regret it.Long version-I could leave a simple review, but nah, this deserves a detailed review from me. I generally do work on my car myself, but sometimes I will take it to a shop if I have a situation where I cant really deal with it myself. Every other shop Ive taken my car to get work done, they have messed SOMETHING up. This is a small shop, but they do work both big and small! VERY SATISFIED!!!One year, my transmission mount broke (dropping my transmission/engine and breaking a bunch of stuff along the way) and these guys took my car in, kept in touch with me every step of the way, letting me know each and every piece that was broken as they found out what was damaged.My second dealing with them was when I hit a broken man-hole cover and my sub-frame was damaged (my car was lowered ~3 at the time). These guys heard what I had to say, checked the damage because it was likely some suspension/steering parts could have been compromised, confirmed my sub-frame was bent, got an alignment done and changed it out within two days! EXCELLENT timing because I had to drive to Canada just a few days after!I just took my car there again as I needed some work done before a long drive and they finished it WAY sooner than I thought.See, they dont only do work in a smooth manner, they are a very no-nonsense shop. They use high-quality parts, do the work clean (you wont have stains all over your car/in your car), and my goodness are they professional! One of my favorite things - they have GREAT COMMUNICATION! They will call you up and verify if you want something else done (if they stumble upon damage that relates to the symptoms youve mentioned). They never did more than I asked and charged me for more than I needed. In fact, they never overcharged me for anything or tried to say that I needed something else done that was actually perfectly fine (other shop has done this, but I didnt fall for it.)These guys get my service 100%. Since 2017, I only trust them with my car.

These guys were incredibly helpful, quick, and well-priced. My car broke down in the middle of 97th street on the UES; they offered to get me a tow immediately, and then when the car was in the garage they were easy to talk with and quick with the repair. I assumed it would be ridiculously overpriced, but they were more than fair. I would definitely return to this garage any time.

I had to use Active Auto for towing and a transmission replacement. The tow was fast and reasonably priced. I opted for a used transmission for savings over a factory-rebuilt transmission. I received a 6 months/ parts and labor warranty with the repair. The first transmission was quickly changed but was faulty and went out within a month. I called and they changed it again in 4 days, at no extra charge because of the warranty. Currently, everything is fine. I will use them again because of their honesty and reasonable prices.

Just wanted to write this review . They are excellent just needed a new pair of windshield blades and a check on the pump they ordered the blades and immediately was serviced when I arrived. Great local business no rip off here fair pricing.

Check engine light was on, but when they couldnt find anything wrong they didnt charge for the diagnostic. Will definitely go back when I do need a repair.

The owners of the Active Auto Repair shop are very honest and really nice guys, which is hard to come by these days. I had a check engine light come on. I brought my car to two different mechanic shops which gave me 2 totally different diagnosis. Both wanted over 500 dollars for repairs. Then I found Active Auto and they diagnosed it and repaired it for less than half. I couldnt be more pleased. I highly recommend this shop.

I was in and out quickly for my oil change. The location is very convenient to the upper east side for body work and other issues with my car. Not many of those places left as developers scoop up buildings all over the upper east side.

What you want from a service company is efficiency and no hassle. Thats what I got from Jon, Yanni and Mario. The fact that they were really nice and the price was fair was a great bonus. This place can do everything. Let them.

I own a SAAB. It is officially a dinosaur with very few reliable places in NYC to provide parts & service. Active Auto was able to get the part I needed & was able to make my car inspection worthy. Both Jon & Josh were (& are) trustworthy. The key thing to note is...they are busy, so they have no reason to clutter up their shop with imaginative repairs. They ordered the part & completed the installation in 1 hour. Granted it was not a complicated repair, but they saved me over $100 on the specialty headlamp bulb, & even fixed the cracked casing with no extra charge. SAAB owners are loyal & I will be recommending them to my fellow SAAB owners.

I had my car towed there to change out my starter. Nice people, they told me a fair price before even work was done, I agreed and then I came back a few hours laters and it was all done.The dude took out a small plastic piece from inside the car, next to the gear shifter to put the car in neutral and never put it back, so I have a small open hole there but I guess a small hiccup in a overall smooth day.I would recommend others. The guy on the phone is also very cool so I felt comfortable asking questions and hangin out in the lounge.

Im rarely partial to a particular shop (unless its bad news), but have been comfortable with coming back to these guys in the past year. They recommended quite a few repairs and I decided to go with the ones that they said were most pressing. Overall: satisfied with the work they did on my volvo and will return, though hopefully not too soon!

My daughters BMW broke down in Manhattan on Sunday early evening. We live in Connecticut and don’t know of any garages in NYC let alone one that would answer the phone on a Sunday. I found Active Auto Repair on Yelp and called. I couldn’t believe it when they answered the phone.I explained the situation and they said to tell my daughter to stay with the car and they would have a tow truck there in 15 minutes. The tow showed up right away. The next day they called with the analysis and price. I checked it with my local repair guy and he said it was very fair for the parts and labor.They had the car ready the next day. When I picked it up they were very professional. They had all of the paper work ready and explained the warrantee. The car has been running perfectly since they fixed it.These guys are heroes in my book. They saved the day for me and my daughter. They did what they said they would do and they did it very well. I highly recommend them.

Active Auto Repair NYC did a great job of helping me out and repairing my 2007 Audi A-6.I was visiting New York City when I had an engine problem. Not being familiar with the area, I found Active Auto on google, gave them a call, and they told me to bring the car right over. My Audi needed a replacement engine – they helped me out with the insurance claim, finding a low time engine, and installing it for me. I am very happy I found Active Auto to work on my car.

Dont bother UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR CAR and then I guess walk them through it. They pay so much attention to what they are doing that they left my passenger window open while it was pouring rain. I took my car there for a burning smell that was more than obvious and this man told me everything was wrong with my car except for the fact THAT: there is a piece of plastic stuck underneath and that is what is causing the smell. I took it to the Dealer and my out come was way cheaper. HOW COULD YOU MISS THAT? I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and the Department of Consumer Affairs.

I came to the shop with my Audi it had a whole bunch of warning lights on it they corrected the issues that needed to be corrected they were so kind and very efficient at what they do I would definitely be recommending them to anyone I know for auto mechanic work

I will say this, a trust worthy repair shop can be hard to come by, but the guys here did a great job. My 05 audi which had pretty bad oil leak in several places which was causing smoke to appear from the engine bay was finished quickly and smoothly, parts were ordered and literally the same day car was done. I would recommend them to anyone.Thanks

Experience initially was good, my vehicle was towed here (car broke down in Manhattan) ad I got a replacement starter. After a week I had trouble with the starter, so I bring the vehicle back. (Please note I live in Long Island so its not the easiest of drives). I called a day in advance to confirm if I could bring the vehicle in, was told yes. I bring the car the next day and was turned away for repair work. On top of that service was 550 dollars alone, I got my starter repaired in Brooklyn for much less. From my personal experience, I wouldnt recommend.

At first I was a little skeptical because this is not the BMW dealer service center, but nevertheless, these guys know what they are doing. It took 1 business days and my Beemer was back on the road. I have been a customer since Feb 2012 back when they were on W 38th Street. I met Jon then and he has always been upfront on the work and estimates for my car. As others have stated, when uncovering potential maintenance issues, he informed me of the work necessary and give a fair assessment. I have come to trust his opinion on the benefits or cons of doing the work. It is my go to garage for my 2005 Audi A4. The prices are reasonable, they source genuine Audi parts and stand by their work.They did have a hiccup with me and I had to return to the garage for a minor issue where the technician needed to do some additional adjustments which they quickly resolved upon my return. The last statement is the only reason I could have considered to remove a star but decided their customer service response to me and how they resolved is why I return.And return I did. Just last month, I needed my window regulator replaced one morning when I heard a crunching sound and the window would not return to the closed position. I called John and brought the car in. They diagnosed and had the car repaired for me by the next morning for pickup.My car has over 105K miles and with Audi has had its repairs along the way but its been running great and I can say Thank You to Active Auto for keeping me on the road!
