As a lifelong NYC filmmaker, and IATSE 600 Member, its hard NOT to have strong opinions about the Rental Houses around NYC. There are the really cheap cheap ones where you get the gear, but not the quality. There are the super luxe ones, where rental experts peer at you judgmentally yet dont have any field experiences. Once, one of these superficial houses rush delivered a wireless camera package to us and didnt include power cables!Flug is in its own class. I love that you can have a tech or a normal conversation at Flug. The staff there are all smart, relatable people who seem to have an affection for what they do. I also enjoyed attending Flugs social events; fun crowds, creative vibes, good swag/food. They generally have anything I might want in a gear order, and for some of the more bizarre shoot requests, theyre always quick to find and present affordable alternatives.
