I have been taking my cat here since May 2021 when she suddenly started acting different and breathing very heavy and fast. I frantically brought my cat here in the early morning and she was taken in immediately. After some diagnostics I was told that my cat was experiencing heart failure, and was in critical condition, her prognosis was very poor. I was absolutely devastated at the news, when a couple days prior I believe she had been a perfectly healthy happy young cat. She had to stay overnight at the hospital for multiple days to stabilize. The staff at the hospital were incredibly empathetic, and amazing with giving me frequent updates and explaining the situation and treatment options thoroughly. Over the next couple months, the cardiologist, Dr. Wiley, worked with me to narrow down my cats treatment to balance her heart condition and kidney values. I am happy to say that my cat has been stable for the past few months, and is doing absolutely amazing. It feels like a miracle after the months of hospital visits. If it weren’t for the team at blue pearl, and especially Dr. Wiley, my little kitty would not be around today. Truly thank you to all the staff at blue pearl!

Surgery During Covid times.Professional and prompt service. On Jan 14th 2021, Emergency surgery need to be performed for Patches and we were referred to Blue Pearl New York Downtown immediately. I was anxious about the surgery because during Covid, where everything was either closed or understaffed.Check-in was a breezeOn the way to Blue Pearl I checked Patches online at Blue Pearl N Y . When I showed up at the Hospital, I had to sign bunch of covid forms, but a tech came and took Patches inside immediately for his consult. She did not wait for me to finish.PaymentWithin few minutes I received a call from the Dr, gave every detail over phone and got an estimate by email, my payment went through and we were waiting outside the hospital. They asked us to leave if we wished as he will be discharged after 24 to 48 hr after surgery and we can continue to be in touch over phone.Pre surgery Drs callDr Philipa Pavia, called to give comprehensive detail about the surgery and type which she might have to perform and his surgery was bumped up because of its seriousness. She was certain about what Patches needs and We felt he was in safe hands. She then told us to expect another called as soon as the surgery went through.Post-surgery callAbout an hour or so later received a call from Patchess Surgeon, Dr Pavia, she said, surgery went well without complication and that she performed an enterotomy to remove foreign object. The object was semi-circular, bald, some sort of a ball that he swallowed whole. She informed us about post surgery complications that could happen and what we need to look out for and also informed us that he will have to stay at least 24 hrs for observation and we will receive a call by evening 6.30 pmPrompt Update call ( Evening)We received an update from the Dr, about how he is doing… and that he is on the mend. He was getting IV fluids and also on pain meds.. Got updates about his walk, diet, and demeanor. She said once he eats solid food we can bring him home. Mostly next day. We were told to expect a call in the morning next day.Timely update call (next day morning 8 am) and discharge discussion.Dr Pavia said Patches is doing great and he is in good spirit, he is not eating but that is not a cause for concern as most Pets do that when they are at hospital. She updated us about his walks, and how there were no surprises overnight and that he is healing.Everything goes like this he can be discharged by 6pm later that day.Discharge instruction call and updateDr gave us more updates about Patches and his activity. instructions about monitoring him, more specifically.. his incision site care. Requested follow up after 2 weeks with Blue Pearl or Dr Jones. And complete discharge instructions. Which will be explained when I come to pick up Patches.By 5pm we were eagerly waiting outside and patches was handed to us with discharge instruction (printout with notes, meds, incision care, follow up date.. Basically everything). He looked healthy and happy and so were we :-). Relieved that he is with us mostly how good the team at Blue Pearl has been with Patches.I am so grateful to Dr Pavia and her team at Blue Pearl Vet Downtown N Y for treating patches during COVID lockdown. They fixed him and treated him with such kindness and compassion. Answered all our questions and put us at ease by prompt communication( frequent timely updates and professionalism). As pet parent I felt confident in their team effort to handle emergency pet care.

Blue Pearl Brooklyn diagnosed one of my dogs with cancer and removed her leg. They dont have an oncologist for 2 more weeks, so they set up a phone consult with the oncologist at the Manhattan location who Rx chemo. Unfortunately the Rx is coming via mail and wont be here for another week so, Blue Pearl being open 24 hours, should make getting a partial Rx that they originally sent in the meantime easy, right? No. Initially we were told they dont have it. When asked why would you send an invoice just yesterday for a drug you dont have, the response was, well, theres no oncologist here right now. It didnt matter that thousands had been spent there over the past 2 weeks and the dog needs it sooner rather than later. The bureaucracy was going to hold fast no matter what - no medication for the cancer patient. Cancer grows exceptionally fast in dogs, and Blue Pearl said it was already advanced. So treating quickly should be a priority, but no, no. Nobody on staff wants to take responsibility for giving a needed and already sent Rx so we will need to wait another week to start chemo. This increases the likelihood of the cancer metastasizing more. Thanks Blue Pearl for taking our money and then not following through on treatment. This place does not care about your furry family member. Theyre cruel and heartless and do not care one damn bit.

Went to BluePearl today for urgent care for my recently adopted pup. Had no wait time and was helped by a Vet Assistant named Michelle who was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to be helpful to me and my pup. Everyone I spoke to was very friendly and professional. Would definitely recommend for emergency situations!

Stay away if at all possible. Choices are limited overnight and during the weekend yes -- so only ever go if there truly is an emergency that cannot wait until your regular vet is open. My dog was diagnosed with cancer and the oncologist didnt even properly read the X-rays. They took days to respond to any inquiries and just really showed lack of empathy or care...My experience is that all they do is diagnose hypothetically -- it could be this and make tons of money in doing so, without really treating. Our precious cargo deserve better.

This place gets zero stars. Without going into my life story and my 8 week old bulldogs life story..I will keep it to the point. This place tried telling me my dog was dying and recommended me to get X-Rays, blood work, and an overnight hospital stay for my dogs persistent cough....All I needed was antibiotics and be out the door. I spent two hours outside waiting for them to do nothing. After I told the vet I respectfully decline her moneymaking up-coding recommendation I was given the antibiotics my pup desperately needed. Now a week later he is doing AMAZING with no cough. I also gave them his paperwork and they didnt even look at it. I had to remind them. Abstract: I could write a novel on my poor experience. This place is a rip off and will try to pull on your heart strings to get more money out of you when you dont need the treatment. Dont trust them. I feel bad for the people who have been taken for a ride. RIP to honesty and morality.

I want to thank Dr. Ally Yi Chen for her professionalism, knowledge, and comfort. I was away on vacation when I got a call that my dog was being taken to the ER. Dr. Chen explained his assessment and treatments thoroughly and didn’t pressure me into anything I didn’t want to do since I know my dog. I loved that she is very knowledgeable and professional about her job and saved me lots of money, since I was pressured by NY Dog Spa and hotel into making him stay overnight when he didn’t need to and they refused to pick him up. I’m happy that she comforted me and made me aware that my dog was in great hands. I can’t thank Dr. Chen enough for this experience.

I took my 10 year old cat to BluePearl after being referred by my vet. Dr Stanley diagnosed a very agressive GI lymphoma and referred him to Dr Britton, oncologist at BluePearl. My cat received the best treatment and care, we could have ever hoped for. The front desk staff and nurses were always kind and helpful when I dropped off/ picked up my cat and the vets team was professional, compassionate and always took the necessary time to go over the treatment plan and explain all the details. I would definitely note that the cost of treatment is really high at BluePearl although I do not have any elements that compare BluePearl to other clinics. I would definitely recommend having your pet insured. Overall I am very happy and grateful that my cats treatment took place at BluePearl especially with Dr Stanley and Dr Britton.

Do NOT go here. Go down the block to VEG. The management is horrendous, they dragged my dog with emergency abdominal pain and showed no care in his handling, made owners wait in a flash flood, screamed at owner, and showed only an interest in profit, not care. I told them after witnessing how he and I were being treated that I wanted to leave and didn’t trust them with his care. It took almost twenty minutes and multiple phone calls for them to give him back to me. I was told there were dogs experiencing emergencies and they couldn’t bring him up...even though he was there for an emergency? A headache, a nightmare. I canceled service and got my down to VEG. So much kinder, they let you come inside and be with your dog during the care.

I took my 6 year old english bulldog here because she was getting recurrent UTIs and she had an on/off again heart murmur that needed to be checked out. She saw Dr. Wiley (cardiology) and Dr. Mak (internal medicine). Both of the doctors were amazing - so knowledgable, communicated fully, and really took the time to explain the diagnosis and treatment plan. They were 100% transparent on the recommended tests, discussed the pros/cons of each, and discussed the cost before hand to make sure we were on the same page. Thanks to them, my little girl is healthy as can be, and I feel peace of mind knowing that she was in great hands. Would definitely take her back!

It’s been a long day. If I could rate these nasty people 0 or negative stars I would. We discovered my friend had passed away and we found her and her doggy this morning. The doggy is not in good shape. She is 16 and had been left without food or water for at least 5 days. She is hanging on for dear life. After calling vets, we were told to come here for an emergency. We carefully brought the precious pup to this location and they turned us down. She is in terrible pain and unable to control her bodily functions and they told us to go somewhere else. These people do not care about animals and are not fit to be called a Pet Hospital.

I give two stars because the doctors themselves are great. But wow. I had a couple terrible experiences with the front desk. Specifically, Desha. For that reason, I implore you: DO NOT GO HERE. BEWARE.I have never spoken to anyone who was more condescending and dismissive in my life. Id hope people working in jobs where others might be distressed (e.g., bringing an animal in for an emergency) would be empathetic. Such is not the case at Blue Pearl.I talked to Desha after a serious of mistakes happened that were pretty terrible. Such as:- got erroneous call that my cat was ready to get picked up (only to wait 100+ minutes outside and miss a meeting due to their error).- got sent the wrong bill- front desk miscommunicated the type of prescription (liquid) that I needed a doctor to call into pharmacy (pills were called in)Desha was rude. Insincere. Condescending. And was literally telling me how I should act. I called this place, Blue Pearl, inept for these mistakes. She told me to stop being disrespectful by calling her colleagues inept. I never called one person inept. She put words in my mouth then. She’d do so again.I ended up talking to Deshas supervisor as I was getting nowhere with her. Her supervisor was amazing and assured me theyd do their best moving forward. Shed talk to Desha.Unfortunately, I had to bring my cat back a week later and dealt with Desha again. Blue Pearl said theyd see him in a few minutes. After 25 passed, a woman outside told me shed been waiting for 90+ minutes and was now going somewhere else.I called the front desk to ask if I could similarly expect to wait 90 minutes. Deshas first response? Telling me not to ask other clients how long theyre waiting as its different for each client. I told her I didnt ask. This woman overheard me telling my husband that this wait was starting to feel like the time I was here for almost 2 hours. She continued to be rude. She asked if I wanted to talk to her supervisor. She then put me on hold for 8 minutes. I never talked to a supervisor. I hung up.People like Desha should not work at a vet. I was disappointed that I had talked to her boss and was assured that changes would be made in the future. And then I encountered the same rudeness again.DO NOT GO HERE.

This review is specifically for Dr. Britton of the Oncology department. After a horrible diagnosis of metastatic cancer, my dog George and I visited her to evaluate our options. I read her prior reviews and saw her credentials and was willing to drive into the city from Brooklyn specifically for her. We knew the dire prognosis he had, but wished to extend our time together as long as possible.Dr. Britton is perhaps the most professional Veterinarian I have ever come across. She answers questions promptly and expresses concern when needed. She suggested the most reasonable treatment course, and though it was unfortunately not successful, she didnt drag myself or my pal through any tests or procedures that were not necessary. She was a light to us in a very dark time. Any question or concern I had was returned within 24 hours. At the end, when it was time to make a tough decision for my buddy, when all treatments were failing and he told me he was ready to go, she was reasonable and supportive of the decision. She even went out of her way to follow up with condolences after the fact. I highly recommend this professional vet.

Bad management + poor service + easy avoidable fails + beloved pets unwell = confusion and helplessnessThe doctor was responsive on the telephone but then the notes according to our veterinarian were lacking information required to provide immediate followup care. We appreciate the emergency services but everything else has been terrible and extremely expensive. We had 2 visits with them. The 1st time my wife had to wait 1.5 hours on the sidewalk to pick up our cat even though they knew we were coming and gave us a specific time. This was semi understandable given that our cat had been hospitalised overnight. Why wouldnt they just say were very busy. Heres a pager and will page you when your cat is up or Ill take your phone number and call you? Then you could go somewhere sit down even at a local cafe or restaurant with outdoor seating. Theres no reason they couldnt handle it better with even a little thoughtfulness.Instead they have some folding chairs on the sidewalk in the cold while charging thousands and thousands of dollars. They could at least set up a waiting area with a heater. Poor management. We took her back for a follow up ultrasound at the recommendation of our veterinarian and when I went to pick her up a few hours after the test they had me waiting for 45 minutes. I had to call the front desk 4 times and become very assertive to get them to bring the cat out.The front desk staff was giving me implausible explanations for the long delay such as telling me the cat was on another floor. When I became insistent they brought the cat out right away. I actually had to say I was going to call the police to get them to bring our pet out (which they were somehow able to do all of a sudden). The nurse who brought the cat out told me they had a couple of emergencies and apologised for the delay. All they would have had to have said is that we are having emergencies and we are sorry can you please wait?Instead the front desk staff was giving Implausible reasons and making excuses. I know how hard it is to train desk staff and for a company with multiple locations I would expect them to have figured it out.

Had to take cat here for emergency at 4 AM. They actually answer the phone at that hour, which is reassuring - when your pet is extremely distressed you dont want to play around going somewhere that might not be open. The intake lady was competent, could have been more helpful with explaining the forms, as I had no idea if they were waiting on me to finish paperwork before helping my pet and I was obviously stressed. (They do wait on you doing the paperwork to start on your pet, theyll call up and ask for a pre-auth in the rare event they do). But I have reasonable expectations for people that take overnight shifts.. I had to have my pet put down, staff was good at explaining what happened, and gave me plenty of space with my pet afterwards, I didnt feel rushed once. All staff seemed like they truly love animals. So, a good option if your pet probably needs to be put down and its 4 AM.

My cat is in a lot of pain and I was quite distressed but the staff, technicians and vet displayed zero compassion. Nearly $500 and they did nothing as apparently they could not get a urine sample. I had to ask them to administer fluids and was simply given antibiotics and told to give her the first dose when I got home (really? You couldn’t have done that for me?). I specifically asked them if they gave her anything for pain, or could give her anything and the vet said the antibiotics would have some pain relief after a few days. I am now home with my cat and she is in just as much pain, unable to rest and I’m counting down the hours until my regular vet opens (and praying they are open on MLK DAY) because despite seeking urgent care, she received none from Bluepearl.

I only gave it one star because I had to!! I want to write a review about how money hungry this place is. I took my cat at 2am because she was having trouble breathing and had two blood clots. When the vet spoke to me they had given my cat over $100 of medication already. She proceeds to tell me that it will cost about $6,000 a day, for minimum of about 5 days, if she survives. Then she tells that my other option is to euthanize my cat. Unfortunately that is what I had to do. I was quoted about $850 without her ashes or $1,100 with her ashes. I took with option with the ashes because I had my cat for 14 years. When I called my cats regular vet, I asked how much it would cost to euthanize a cat, I was quoted $450. When I called Blue Pearl I received a call from the office manger and when I inquired about the huge price difference, she stated It is what it is. I dont want talk about it anymore and I dont have the time to talk about. If you did not want to have her cremated you could have asked to have her body frozen will you shopped around. I asked her why was that not mentioned to me and she said It is not our job to tell you. You need to ask. I understand that Blue Pearl is an emergency hospital, just to walk in it is $210, but to have such a huge price difference, charged over $100 dollars for medication when they knew my cat was going to have to be euthanized, and then to not be given all the information upfront and being rudely told it is my job to ask to have my pet frozen and shop around. This is unacceptable. Also, I was the only pet owner there at the time and they made me wait outside the building, on the street with the garbage and street rats. I was not even allowed to wait in the vestibule. I have filed a complaint with BBB.

The team was extremely professional with great bedside manner and they had our girl checked out right away, giving us several options for treatment. We were in and out within an hour or so, with prescriptions in hand. Most importantly, our puppy got the treatment she needed and is doing just fine! Thanks to everyone at Blue Pearl 💙 🐕

Absurd prices. They also said they were going to give me a treatment plan that we could take step by step. Next thing I knew they already started on the plan without my approval, and slapped me with a $600 bill, when I had intended to get it done for a much more reasonable price at my primary vet. They prey on people who are distressed about their pets, and take advantage of them. Disgusting business.

The veterinarians and staff here have worked an absolute miracle for my best friend and companion, Dee Dee, a 10-year-old Pomeranian who was badly injured by another dog. She came to them having barely a chance at survival and is now thriving and full of joy. Blue Pearl has done everything they can with the highest level of technology, professionalism, heart, and tireless care. I will be forever grateful to this hospital.

I am so thankful that 24 hour emergency places such as BluePearl exist. I was terrified to come home from a walk to find my precious cat with a swollen shut, inflamed left eye. I knew that the exam fee would be higher than a regular vet due to the fact that it was an emergency clinic but it was honestly worth every penny. I feel as if the doctor/staff were also very considerate in that sense that they did not perform or even ask to perform tests etc that were not completely necessary and recommended I follow up with a regular veterinarians office if the problem doesnt get better. They are NOT out to get your money like some other places I have experienced in the past. The staff was warm, welcoming and right to the point. My sweet baby cat is ok and thats all that matters. Do note they do not perform vaccinations or shots of any sort which I found odd at first but after some thought it makes sense, the traffic of clients just wanting shots would back up the office for patients with serious emergency issues. I would have most likely gotten my baby up to date on shots while I was here though if they did offer it. overall, if your pet has an EMERGENCY, this is absolutely the place to go.

Exceptional team of vet doctors that go above and beyond for the well being of your pet. Dr. Mak, Dr. Ferrigno and Dr. Kalafut and whole team demonstrate a high level of professionalism, work ethic and incredible knowledge in their field.BluePearl is not our primary care vet, because its not close to our home, but we always bring our dog here for emergencies and specialized care, since 2016. We all know how difficult it is to cope with a sick pet, but they make me feel confident that our beloved Lulu is the best hands.Cons: This is not related to the doctors or the nurses from BluePearl. The costs of consultations and procedures are very expensive. They charge you for every little thing, including to measure blood pressure, which its odd to me, but maybe Im missing something. I was charged $3,400 for 24 hours in the ICU, x ray, blood work and ultrasound. I hope at least this wonderful team of doctors and nurses are very well paid.

Before you go here you need to understand the cost. The bill will be four or easily five figures. My wife had nearly spent 9000 in two days before I intervined on care for a terminally ill 14 year old cat.The care (think human hospital quality) and service are absolutely top notch. But you need to consider cost before you walk in the door, because they will apply techniques I think are more intended for your 14 year old sibling than on a 14 year old cat. If you can afford that, and care that much, my best to you. If you cant, finding your pet half way into treatment here will just make it all that more gut wrenching.Ultimately we spent about 5500 and ended up putting the poor boy to sleep. I have to say in the end the staff was absolutely wonderful about it.

We just had an incredibly positive experience at Blue Pearl. I wish human health care was as great. We are fostering a pup who vomited and was stumbling around the apt and then wouldn’t move from the floor, so we rushed her to the hospital this evening. The Blue Pearl team was so friendly, we were seen very fast, the doctor (Keith) was super warm and responsive, the environment was very clean with nice private rooms, caring nurses and receptionists, and everyone was more than reasonable about fees, especially given it’s a 24 hr facility with great staff in a prime location. Fortunately, our pup appears to be okay and I really can’t say enough positive things about Blue Pearl! We just had a great experience and are so thankful this hospital exists for emergencies.

The vets were patient and explained all the possible concerns. I didnt have pet insurance so I was concerned about a huge bill. They gave an itemize breakdown of the costs for the meds and possible interventions. They were honest in recommending which treatments were worth the cost, and suggested that an Xray wasnt exactly necessary in my case. 5 stars for their patience with my questions and their honesty in recommending treatment options.

A few years ago my chihuahua was coughing a bit on a late weekend evening - I’m not sure why but I was overly concerned and took him over to BP. The doctor was kind and although she didn’t see anything alarming (and of course he didn’t cough while we were there) and recommended that I save money and have x rays at my normal vet if the coughing continued during the week. I ended up asking her to do the x rays that night - I had some intuitive feeling that it was best to do so and it turned out that he needed to see a specialist uptown for a possible mass in his lung. I went to BP specialists and the oncologist right away and my dog had lung cancer - the doctors carefully explained all the options and risks and then I elected to proceed with the surgery - it was a long road but the surgery was a complete success - this was 3 years ago and I have to say that while it was very expensive and I was fortunate enough to be in a position to meet those costs - they saved my dogs life with their exceptional care and aftercare. My soon to be 16 year old chihuahua is a cancer survivor. Some doctors had more gracious bedside manner than others but everyone was diligent and I knew they all cared - even the receptionists . I was there again recently with a neighbor who had discovered his dog unconscious due to a carbon monoxide leak in the building - while I can’t speak for the entire experience the BP staff was outstanding in their ability to respond quickly - I called them from a cab and they were waiting at the door when we arrived just in time - they were able to stabilize the dog and he is on the mend. The receptionist was exceptional too - and the dog may have saved everyone in his building but that’s another story. Thank you BP.

What was most gratifying for me was the Vet, Dr. Alex Bluttinger. Then they told me kidney size is actually in normal range and spleen is the one being a little big. Finally they told me everything is okay. I suspect my cat just got a cold and he could not smell anything therefore results in an appetite decreasing, but none of those experts thought of that, and their solutions did not help my cat eating at all. Dr. Britton was about as caring, compassionate, informed, and intelligent a doctor as Ive ever worked with, in any field of medicine. Her bedside manner and ability to clearly layout the options were always done with informed rationality and whole-hearted empathy. She gave us another 6 months with Charlotte, pretty much all of which were some of the best 6 months of her life, despite weekly chemo treatments.Luckily we invested in Figo insurance, and were able to cover what normally would have been impossible costs to stomach. We strongly suggest you make this investment too, as theres no way wed have had those last six months of joy.Right down to the very final goodbye, she and the staff were absolutely as good as it gets.To Dr. Britton and the team, we cant thank you enough for the time you gave us, and the class you should at every step along the way.Justin & Elizabeth

She told me they would have some other answer that they were not seeing, this was not the case. The dermatologist s a nice person and I’m sure a great doctor, however there is nothing that they can do for you here that your regular vet can not.If your cat is experiencing skin issues from allergies and a change in diet has not helped they will probably do the same thing they did for me: atopica and if it doesn’t work, then immunotherapy. your regular vet can examine your cat and give this treatment for a FRACTION of what you will pay here. They wanted to charge me 1k to do tests before I even started the treatment. My regular vet did those tests and gave me Atopica for $230.They call themselves specialists here but I fail to see what is so specialized about prescribing the exact same treatment that a regular vet could give for 5x the price.Over charging like this is cruel to pet owners and their pets. Money should not stop an animal from getting the help it needs and places like this are making this the case.I hope this review helps someone. When your pet is sick it’s incredibly difficult. In early 2018 our cat, River, was diagnosed with a severe genetic liver condition. Her diaphragm was ruptured and her liver was protruding from her stomach area into her chest cavity. The doctors at Blue Pearl were realistic and cautious in their chances of success, and after some deliberations we decided to go ahead with the surgery. It was a tough surgery, and River almost didn’t make it. But the staff at blue pearl nursed her back to health over the course of the next 2 weeks. We took her home but after a couple of months River developed trouble breathing. She ended up needing a 2nd surgery. This one hit her really hard, and she spent almost a month in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Blue pearl. But she ended up recovering very wellDuring both prolonged stays I visited River in the ICU everyday, sometimes twice. A couple of things are obvious to me now:1) I have no doubt whatsoever that the staff at Blue Pearl cares a tremendous amount for their patients2) They are extremely flexible in visiting hours and you spending time with your pet.3) The doctors and nurses are very professional, evidence based and numbers driven.4) They will take care of your pet with whatever means necessary.I also realize that pet health care is expensive. Many people above have mentioned that the care is pricy. This is true and was no different for us. We ended up being fortunate enough to have pet insurance (from Trupanion). I recommend people who care about their pets and live in expensive cities like New York to just get pet insurance. If we hadn’t had this insurance we would’ve had to put down River by now.I also realize that people’s views on care differ purely on health outcomes (bad outcome = 1 star, good outcome = 5 star). I may be biased by that way as well. We will never know how River’s condition would be different if she didn’t have surgery or if we took her to a different hospital.I do however have a pretty good view on the process that took us down this road, and all decisions were sound along the way. The doctors and nurses cared enormously for every single pet in the hospital.

My wife drove our healthy active 13 year old Schipperke from our out-of-town home into NYC and by the time she arrived she wasnt quite right. Next morning we called our vets office. Our vet was on vacation so his office suggested BluePearl. The diagnosis was as bad as it gets ... she had Hemangiosarcoma. Between our internet research and consultation with our home vets office it became apparent that the right course of action was to put her down immediately. We were devastated. Dr. Ganus and the rest of the staff were understanding and sensitive to the gravity of the decision we were being asked to make by what were essentially strangers. We know now that the decision was right ... she passed without pain with the ones she loved and is at rest in our backyard. Our experience is not at all consistent with the negative reviews. Comments related to cost should be tempered with the understanding that BluePearl is a well appointed facility in an expensive neighborhood with great staff ... a high cost structure for sure. The prices were similar to our vet at home. I should also mention that this episode took us by complete surprise and we were in an extremely vulnerable position. Dr. Ganus guided us through the process only performing procedures necessary to lead to the right outcome.

Blue Pearl Veterinarian clinic is inept, rude, extremely expensive and irresponsible. Do not take your well loved pet to these people. I had an experience with my dear furry one. I brought her in for tests for seizures that had suddenly appeared and was charged almost two thousand dollars for tests that showed absolutely nothing wrong according to them except for elevated liver levels. Nothing else! Months later as her health continued to decline and she began to shrivel in front of me I called them again asking them if they were sure that NOTHING was revealed in the tests. They once again said nothing. They did not ask to see her or advise another course of action. After 4 months I went to another vet in Chelsea a few blocks away and after 24 HOURS they diagnosed her with a common thyroid problem and stated that she could regain her health in about two months on inexpensive 18$ a bottle pills but that her health had declined so much that he was not sure if she had the strength as her heart and other organs had been damaged due to the months without treatment. She died within days of the diagnosis. I called back to inform Blue Pearl of her death due to their negligence but they (Melanie) only dismissed my issues and blamed her death on me despite my attempts at healing her. If only Blue Pearl had made an effort and shown a bit more interest months prior she would have survived. Very unfortunate situation of negligence.Response to manager: Melanie, your response to my review is completely untrue. She sat where I was sitting on the floor next to him. She pushed on his spine bc I said he was too sick to walk. She said it could be a slipped disc, but didn’t offer to do any Xrays. I said it’s not a slipped disc, he’s bleeding internally. She said maybe he bit his tongue. I asked her to look for a cut, if thats all it was. When she didn’t find one she said maybe it’s an ulcer, and maybe he ate something, and then left the room.We sat there for 45 minutes until a nurse brought me in a bill for $883. This bill was for a blood test to see how much fluid we should give him, 2 ulcer medications, and codeine (a pain pill). I said, I am not paying for any of this. I am not giving my dog medicine without a real diagnosis. They insisted I pay and told me the doctor gave me 50% off the examination bill. I said, why on earth would a doctor do that unless they know they actually didn’t examine my dog? I refuse to even pay for the $70 examination bill bc she didn’t even put him on a table to examine him.I was arguing all of this with the manager named Avi who seemed out of it and was acting bizarre. He was petting flash so forceful. My dog was clearly in pain and could barely stand, let alone be roughhoused with. We left the vet at 11pm, without the codeine or ulcer medications.I took Flash home and laid next to him petting him. If I would have given him that pain pill she recommended, he would have fallen asleep and died. Flash couldn’t get comfortable and went down on my bathroom floor. As I was laying with him, his breathing seemed off to me.At 1am I called the Blue Pearl in Brooklyn (190 3rd Ave) which is a brand new facility. I spoke to the receptionist, Kelly, who was beyond helpful. I told her his symptoms and she instructed me to just stay calm and get him there ASAP. His breathing was slowing down in the car. When I got there a team rushed to the door, grabbed Flash and ran him into the examining room. After I was told the diagnosis (rat poisoning), Kelly at the front desk said that’s what I prepped the team for when you called. Those are rat poisoning symptoms. How is it that a receptionist over the phone knows more than someone who calls themselves a vet and in person saw and examined” my dog? His gums were white and he was so low on oxygen when I got there that if I had waited longer he would have died.Dr. Stephanie Silberstang, Kelly, and the rest of their team saved my dogs life. They acted fast and professional, and made me feel comfortable knowing my dogs life was in their hands.Doctor Ehmann at Blue Pearl Chelsea took hours of time away from my sick dog. Flash could have been getting better instead of nearing death.I received a call from Blue Pearl Chelseas manager the next day, apologizing about my experience and offering me the $70 exam fee back. I told her if she thinks this is about the $70 and not about the fact Dr. Ahmann was so negligent that she could have killed my dog, then she is delusional.Knowing what I know now, this is NOT THE FIRST TIME BLUE PEARL CHELSEA has done malpractice. THEY KILLED a famous French Bulldog named Chloe the Mini Frenchie. Chloe went in for a routine procedure and was on oxygen. In their negligence, they pumped her lungs full of too much oxygen, which led to her death. STAY AWAY from this vet. Its NOT SAFE. The vets do sometime rotate locations so whatever you do DONT BRING YOUR DOG TO DOCTOR EHMANN

The vet visit experience was positive. However, I called and received all circuits are busy multiple times in a row. Yes, the number I dialed was accurate. Please call the Hells Kitchen location on 55th.

We brought my dog in w a persistent rash to see a dermatologist. On time for the appointmentWaitedfinally taken to a room and questioned by a techDr. Seltzer came in, spent 5 minutes, questioned where he had been but no questions about the food allergies I know are there, took a skin scrapingWaited some more, no more doctor, tech came back, said doctor found bacteria ( would have found bacteria on my skin too; bacteria is everywhere). I asked about diet, nothing.Tried to charge $450 for an antibiotic. Bill without antibiotic $500Ordered the med elsewhere; Dr Seltzer did not approve prescriptionThe bacteria was never cultured. Diet questions never asked. Dr is incompetentBut apparently works for the facility as a moneymaker. Wanted $122 for a med that was $14.95 elsewhere, also tried to push the $450 med.DON’T GO THERE

I took my Dog here for emergency stitches in a rush after an accident. When i got there they took him downstairs to examine him and give him an x-ray. But after reading all the horrible reviews I was terrified and asked to have my dog back so I can take him somewhere else nearby, as long as moving him would not put him at risk.I took him to another vet a few blocks away, and when the vet called Blue Pearl to ask them to send over the X-Rays, Blue Pearl then made some extravagant lie saying the x-rays that they spoke to me about were actually for another dog, and refused to send them over. I had a short experience with Blue Pearl, and that was enough to show me how dishonest and shady these people are. They do no have your pets best interest at heart. Instead of sending over the scans, I was forced to have my injured dog go through another x-ray, which is not good for his body and delayed the surgery he needed. All because Blue Pearl was pissed that we left. Do NOT take your pet to these horrible people.

Blue Pearl saved our dog’s life. Our English Bulldog had aspiration pneumonia, lost 20% of her body weight and was no longer eating. After a misdiagnosis at another vet, we were desperate for answers and found them at Blue Pearl. The internal specialist Dr Im (as well as Dr Mak), performed a careful intake meeting to learn about our case and bulldog’s health issues. Excellent bedside manner, thought, communication and care. Never felt rushed and always felt listened to. Always open to questions. We received the right testing and diagnosis. We could follow up with questions at any time and received prompt answers. Our bulldog is now happy and healthy and we are thrilled with her care. The front desk and support staff were all incredible as well (very friendly, helpful and considerate). I am telling every dog owner I know about Blue Pearl especially for emergencies or special cases. Dr Im is an excellent internal/gastrointestinal specialist. If you are reading this and waiting for an appointment at AMC, go here instead.

I would give this Petsmart Mars corporation owned death camp 0 points out of 100. What a racket they have going on here. Any pet owner who agrees to be fleeced by these thieves should spend a month in the old psych ward at Bellevue in a strait jacket.I also believe that the community practitioners who accept payola for referring their clients to this horrible place should be delicensed and spend time in prison for advantage of the emotional vulnerability of dog and cat owners in New York City.We recently took a dog in on a Sunday night to address some breathing issues which are commonly addressed by lasix. By 5:30 am Monday morning they had managed to kill our beloved pet. This happened at 55th street but this is a chain operation. Stay away. They once wanted 1500.00 to suture a superficial cut on another of our dogs. We eventually settled on some staples for $350.00. Still thievery. This is not the country vet- these are thieves who consort with thieves to take advantage of the close emotional bonds most pet owners form with their pets. SHAME on them and SHAME on Petco for operating a business like this. BTW - let us never forget that PETCO has sold puppy mill dogs!
