I was first introduced to Private Prep as a student in high school, during which time I had the privilege of being instructed by the companys founder. I was so moved by his commitment not only to students academic performance, but also to their deeper critical thinking and well-being that I have been working with the company ever since graduating from undergrad! As an academic coach, I have found that Private Preps administration has spent just as much effort on training tutors to embody this culture of caring with their students as I observed as a student all those years ago. As such, I regularly witness my brilliant, dedicated coworkers forging profound, productive working relationships with their students. Likewise, it has also led to me experiencing a sincerely uplifting support network of tutors and staff members who constantly push one another to be the best instructors they can be with new pedagogical techniques, content knowledge, and supplementary intellectual activities like our fantastic book club! I do not exaggerate when I say that this company has changed my life, and I am forever grateful to have been given an opportunity to teach and learn at Private Prep.
I am forever grateful to Private Prep for helping my son, a rising high school senior, conquer the ACT. It all started with a very pleasant meeting with director Jessica Taub, who came to our house one evening and spent time with my son, getting to know him as a person and a student. Soon after, she assigned him to the ideal ACT tutor, a young man who is a virtual standardized test wizard and whose personality is a great match. Max and my son hit it off instantly. They met every week for 90 minutes over the course of several months, reviewing test-taking strategies, going over homework and practice test results, discussing time management, and breaking down questions on every section of the ACT. My sons score increased seven points from the time he took the diagnostic ACT in October 2016 to the time he took the real test for the second time in June 2017. He and I both attribute his improvement to Maxs expertise, dedication, and support. The staff at Private Prep truly wants to see their clients succeed. They are caring and flexible, and genuine experts in their field. I recommend them wholeheartedly.
Excellent service for my Kindergarten son. We use Private Prep for (approximately) weekly sessions during the school year to supplement his public school education, and better gauge his educational progress. He enjoys the sessions very much, and we feel it gives him added confidence in the classroom. As parents, the session recaps are enormously helpful for us to gain unbiased and immediate feedback on his strengths and areas for improvement.
We hired Private Prep in September 2017 to help prepare our 10 year old daughter for the ISEE. From start to finish the experience and service were outstanding! Their team took the time to meet us and our daughter and pair her with the perfect tutor. We worked with Rachel and Zach to coordinate all and they were an absolute pleasure to work with in the process.Ambika was the perfect match for our daughter. She was always prompt and pleasant and our daughter really enjoyed their time together. She made great progress in a short period of time thanks to all of their help. The session updates e-mailed weekly were great so we knew what they covered and what she needed to work on. Even the automated notification of the billing was a detail they nailed. The entire team was responsive and accommodating. We highly recommend them for your child’s tutoring or exam prep needs. You can certainly sense all of the time and energy they have put in for a positive family experience. Phenomenal experience!
I have used Private Prep for both of my boys who are now in college. Steve Feldman, owner, met with both boys at the start for an in depth discussion about what their needs were and also had extensive discussions with me, the mom. Son #1 needed a tutor for the SAT 2 European Civ exam. I couldnt find a tutor anywhere and had very specific requirements. My son was at a Specialized HS and only need 8-10 sessions of test prep - he did not need to be taught or re-taught the material. Steve found a perfect match and I have relied on his company ever since. He helped Son #2 go from A-Z in preparation for the SATs. We started with one tutor who really worked on the basics and got my son up to speed. Unfortunately Tutor #1 had to move out of town (yes, this happens). But Tutor #2 was beyond spectacular and took my son to the finish line with outstanding results. We were not looking for a perfect score on the exam - Private Prep tutors got us to his best possible outcome and we could not have been more thrilled. So much so that we retained this tutor for the rest of HS to work on Gen Ed material with our son. I cant say enough good things about this company. As a matter of fact, if you contact them I would be willing to speak with you and give you even greater insight into the type of personal, thoughtful, thorough service they will provide to your whole family - yes, your children AND you, the parent, who may need more hand holding and encouragement than your child through this process!
Excellent for ACT tutoring - we worked with Jessica Taub who coordinated everything and matched up tutors for our twins. We were thrilled with the entire experience and highly recommend for families looking to prepare their own kids for the ACTs.
When I moved to New York from Australia in 2015, as an experienced math tutor, I was strongly recommended (by 2 independent sources) to get in touch with Private Prep. They were apparently an industry leader in the private tutoring market, with a stellar reputation from students and tutors alike.I did my diligence and interviewed, and was subsequently offered a job, at 3 different academic tutoring agencies. After meeting the team and experiencing the culture of Private Prep, the decision was an easy one. This was 2015 and I am still proudly tutoring with them. There is a reason Private Prep are growing so rapidly and scaling their operations nation-wide. They breed a family culture, that is exceptional as far as training and development goes, but it is also supportive and nurturing in a way that I have never before experienced from an employer. To give some insight on this... I am currently building my own social enterprise startup venture (virtueconomy.co - shameless plug) and so I am openly just tutoring on the side. Many of my fellow tutors (which are all awesome too. Kudos to the hiring team) are in a similar boat... chasing their dreams of theater or music or startup life, or even studying themselves concurrently. Private Prep not only dont have an issue with this potentially transient nature of tutors, but they actively embrace it and encourage and support us to follow our passions. This is the exact reason why so many of us stick around, and then refer other tutors and clients. Incredible culture that begins at the top and flows through the entire company.I cant speak highly enough of Private Prep. They deliver results for students and families, by being maniacal about hiring, training and developing the best tutors around the country - and clearly the most humble ones too ;) . They provide a platform to learn, to grow and to succeed, whether youre a tutor or a student. One final thing that is close to my heart is their commitment to using their vehicle to give back (beyond the incredible gift that is education). They are generous to their tutors, but more importantly, they are always promoting altruistic and community-improving initiatives, from blood banks and donation drives to scholarships given to underserved communities. This is the sign of a true business that cares deeply about the future, and educating the next generation who will be building it.
