The guy cutting my hair today was really rude and unprofessional. There was really loud party music on the tv and I was the only customer, so asked if he could please turn it down, off or change the channel. He had a remote for the tv but basically refused to do anything about it because he’s not the owner. What about the customer? I asked again several times for the loud music to stop but basically was told that he couldn’t do anything about it. Really lousy attitude - so he got no tip and I won’t be coming back.

Isaac is a true pro - knows exactly what to do with your hair. I’m pretty particular about how I want my hair cut, and he made sure to talk through every step so that I felt comfortable with what he was doing. Highly highly recommend. Robin is also great!

This place is the real deal. I walked in, sat down, showed him a picture, and the flurry of awesomeness started. Scissorhands is right because dude is the fastest barber Ive ever sat for. Love the name of the place and didn’t think anything of it until Isaac started to cut my hair. I prefer scissor cut vs buzzer only because of more attention to detail. Isaac was great. A nice guy who definitely earned the name. He was fast but my haircut was great. Im glad he is in the neighborhood. Look forward to going back.

I’ve been going to Isaac since he opened his shop and always get an excellent haircut. He is very adept with the scissors and takes time with you - there’s no rushing even if the shop is busy. I really like the personal service and hot towel at the end. For the quality, price and professionalism you cannot beat it. .

So incredibly upset. Just moved to the area and this was my first haircut here. My last haircut was 2 weeks ago (somewhere else), so I went in just to have my skin fade touched up. I specifically asked for the length on top to be kept the same, but to blend the sides into the top as needed. The barber didnt fade the sides in and left me with a sharp ledge that jutted out from the sides, so I asked her to blend it in, even showing her the reference photo of how my haircut is supposed to look like. She said in order to do that, shed have to cut more off the top, and ended up cutting off more than an inch of my hair and used thinning shears all throughout the top instead of just blending in the sides. Although the fade looks good, Im now left with an uneven haircut, and the top still doesnt blend into the side properly. I didnt want to point that out in fear that shed cut off even more hair from the top. I dont even recognize myself in the mirror now.

There were two people in front of me but he convinced me to wait and Im glad I did, one of the best haircuts Ive gotten. Granted, I never go above $25 for a cut and usually right around $20, but Ill gladly pay $23 + tip again here. Hot towels upon request too. Definitely give Isaac a try.

Having recently moved from California to New York for the summer, I knew that finding a great barber in my neighborhood would be a priority. After a quick search, the consistently high marks Isaac had been given illuminated a safe choice for a place to get a cut. The shop itself is clean and professional. Isaac has a casual and relaxed presence yet clearly finds pride in his work - not to mention an exceptional talent. I gave Isaac sparse instruction after he asked what I wanted and he easily recreated the thoughts I had in my mind on the canvas that was my head. I know that I will soon be back in a month or so - if not for the haircut, at least for a pleasurable conversation on my way to work! Cheers Isaac, see you soon.

Got a superb haircut there today and already had tons of compliments. Unlike most of the-run-of-the-mill barbershops on UWS this one is very clean, well appointed and convenient. I will return for sure. Excellent barbers—finally a place fit for gentlemen. You don’t get treated like the kids here!

I arrived and the quality of the chairs was extremely poor. My head would hang off the end of the chair and it was clear that all upholstery was low quality.All I requested was a simple beard lining and clearly informed the lady not to go down further than .5cm. She then went down 2cm and my beard it ruined.I then was quoted $30 for the beard trim. I proceeded to give her $40 and to my astonishment she took the money and put it in the register, not giving me my change back and instead taking the tip herself. I normally tip regardless of the service as it is polite.However, taking your customer’s money from them and not giving any change it disgraceful.STRONGLY RECOMMEND AGAINST THIS PLACE.

Ive been to Isaacs 2 times so far and each cut was very good, then and after it grew in. Issac is fast and efficient and has a great technique with the scissors, fun to watch and also produces a nice cut! He does a full scissor cut if thats what you want, or a combo of trimmers and scissors. I may have finally found a consistent, talented haircutter!

I wasnt too sure about the service I was going to get. But to my surprise, an amazing barber, Irine was on top. She guided me through a new style selection and turned me into a prince! I usually go to a barber regularly in HK, but decided to try Isaac as he’s in my neighborhood. I was hoping to get a great cut so I could start going to him regularly, he’s only a block away from my apartment.When I sat down he asked me where I usually go and immediately started cutting down my barber, saying how my hairstyle looks really bad for my hair type and that the back/top was “uneven.” He probably said it to me three times. Not the greatest thing to say to a client as I’ve always loved the cuts I get.He fanatically cut into my hair with scissors as if he was being timed. Not really a huge fan of his methods. The fade I got wasn’t blended very well because of this technique. His price list said $22 for a haircut. When I went to pay he said it was $25.

I got cut when getting a hair cut twice yesterday. When I complained I was ignored, and told I was fine. I woke up today with a painful cut on the back of my head.After the hair cut I was told its cash only and had to go for the ATM. There are no signs anywhere that say cash only.Im not going back here, Id suggest you avoid this place too.

She fit me in for a dye and cut right away, taught me some useful dye process logistical tricks for those do-it yourself days, told me about interesting sightseeing spots and where to have a meal with friends you’ll never forget. ;-) Thanks for everything Irine!

I went to Isaac’s new shop on the UWS a couple months ago for the first time because I couldn’t make it to my regular shop in SoHo. He gave me exactly what I asked for, was quick but proper, and it was reasonably priced. Haven’t been back to SoHo since. He’s the man!
