Great and fast haircut, but unfortunately there seems to be a lack of barber hygiene in regards to hair everywhere and the clippers do not look clean. Didn’t see any barbicide.
This place is legit. Seriously, one of the best haircuts I have ever received, for a quarter of the price of other places, also in half of the time it takes anyone else. Coming back here every time I need a cut.
Not that fancy barber shop but a nice outcome esp. for short hair cut/military cut. and d price is only a quarter of what u pay in a regular barber shop! Straight and simple!...And I am surely coming back here!
My best hair cut place in Chinatown a true hair stylist.
Note: Mandatory Tip!!! They’re relentless until you give what they want. A friend recommended saying it’s the cheapest one in Chinatown. So we didn’t go to our regular Kelly’s or the one near Kelly’s and instead went to this one. They claim cutting for woman is $6 per person but when we were done told me it was 8 (there is a indiscreet line somewhere in the store that says ‘long hair add 2’). My hair is less than shoulder-length. Ok. Fine. And the person cutting my hair wet my hair without drying it after cutting. When I walked out it was freezing outside and my hair gave me headache. The worst thing? They demanded mandatory tip. My husband only had a one dollar bill and a five dollar. They refused to break the 5 so we have the one. They demanded more after getting the one. And kept yelling tip as we walked out. Honestly with the secret price add and tip and everything, the price is almost the same as any other barber shop in China town (but worse service). So, totally not worth it. Please go somewhere else.————- update ————-I got home, took a close look at my hair. And it’s not even evenly cut... The front and back have such a weird difference. Even if it was free I wouldn’t want someone to cut it... I would need to go somewhere else to get it fixed.
In this way/helped the Chinese, solved the needs and demands of the Chinese, and also made the Chinese psychologically pleased, should be appreciated.
Best haircut value in Chinatown. $6 for men. And they do a good job. I keep my hair very short and I need a trim almost every month, this is a good place and a great value.
Great cuts at a great price!
Great no thrills haircut for men
$5 mens haircut. The barbers do their job, they speak little English but they will understand what you want. They dont use anything sharp no razors at all, just clippers and scissors. Mainly is a service for man but I have seen woman with short hair also. My husband is happy with the service. Give them a try.
Basic cut that does the job. No frills. But a bit of a wait time ..
Very professional and speedy service at rock bottom budget price.
Wow. $5 haircut that is better than my usual $25 elsewhere. Hard to communicate since the barber doesnt speak English, but if you just want the same style but shorter or some not too complex modification, then this is the place.
Clean, cheap and efficient place. I was in and out in about 10ish minutes. I desperately needed my undercut shaved down, hence why it was quick for me. Its something I normally do on my own because I dont want to have to pay $20+ for a simple clipper job. I paid 5 and tip. Coming back for times where I dont want the hassle of doing it myself.
Best value haircuts in Manhattan. Their haircuts are only $5 and the service is excellent. I just show them a picture of the haircut I want and Im usually out within 10 minutes.PROS: The haircuts are really good considering how quick they are. You cant beat the value with how cheap the haircuts are. Sean is the best barber there. If he doesnt have a line of customers waiting for him, I highly recommend getting a haircut from Sean. The shorter, older man and the woman are also excellent.CONS: Most of the barbers there are great. However, one time I had a barber whose hand was kind of unsteady and I didnt get the best cut from him.
Note: the entrance to this barber shop is a staircase down. There are actually two entrances that lead down. Not exactly conspicuous but definitely a gem when you find it!Mens haircuts for only $5, used to be even cheaper at $4. Pretty decent considering the price. The barbers mostly speak Chinese but can understand a little English- especially terms regarding how you want your hair cut.For $5 you cant expect some high class do, but they definitely still do a fairly decent job and you can always feel good by tipping higher but still getting away with a cheaper price than most barbers
Love this place. It’s my go-to place to get haircut spot. For only $5 bucks, I can get a haircut and tip them more than 50%. For a total for a $8 bucks including tip, I can get a quick, nice haircut. For women’s haircuts, I believe it’s about $8, which is incredibly cheap too.Since this is Chinatown, keep in mind that the barbers mostly speak Chinese with limited English. I would bring a picture to help smooth things over.
Speedy, courteous and run with professional effort to deliver what you wish to get out of your haircut, language barriers aside. But nothing beats their economic prices, just remember to leave a 15% tip or what you deem is worth more than that. It’s a Chinese thing and they will request for it anyways. Have a good time getting that fresh look!
This has to be the best value haircut in New York! It’s easily worth 4x what they charge ($5). It’s barbershop style, not salon, so I won’t say it’s worth those prices. But if you’re looking for strictly a great haircut, no extra’s, I highly recommend this place!
I am very impressed and satisfied with my mens haircut, and with the price ($5), I cant be more grateful. One warning I may put out there is their sanitation when it comes to cleaning the hair cutting equipment like the razor in between haircuts. I havent seen them do that. Just beware. I give them five stars for the quality of the haircut, and for the price.
The best
I paid $5 on 4/4/19 and tipped well because I was attended right away, was provided great service, and got exactly what I wanted despite the language barrier between the barber and I. Its located in a basement in Chinatown and Im definitely coming here again. Im recommending this to my friends and hope they continue to prosper. The bathroom needs to be repaired though, but Its ancient so I dont blame them.
A nice and quick barber shop if you want a simple cut.
Quick and inexpensive haircuts, Ive never had a problem here...
Great price, great haircut
This barber shop is like any other place in Manhattan, the looks on the outside arent getting your attention. EXCEPT FOR THEIR PRICE! A $5 mens haircut and ANY STYLE is INCREDIBLY CHEAP, and that doesnt mean poor quality. The barbers really know what they are doing and have a license to cut hair. You can always relax despite there being a scissor always touching your head. The cut was great and the style was PERFECT. If you took someone there without telling them any price they wouldve thought it was $15-$20. The place is clean, with entertainment despite your 4 minute stay. The barbers can talk if you want to, or be silent, but they are very nice and caring either way. Why go someplace flashy, expensive, and nice, when you can go somewhere, nice, CHEAP, homey, happy, and good quality for a haircut. After the cut, there are a bunch of stores right outside, so you grab a $2.50 BUBBLE TEA on tues and thurs, shop at supermarkets, grab some drinks and whatever you can. GO HERE!!!!!
No frills, cant believe Ive been overpaying all these years. For short hair like mine its hard to go wrong for $5!(Contrary to Anthony Paolicellis review, the cosmetology licenses were clearly displayed.)
Licenses of individual barbers to practice are NOT clearly displayed. They speak very little English. They have all the barber equipment like shaving cream but then claim THEY DONT DO SHAVES!YOU CANNOT GET A BARBERS LICENSE WITHOUT KNOWING HOW TO SHAVE A CUSTOMERS FACE!
If all you need is a serviceable standard haircut, you cant get any cheaper and faster than this. Mr. Lee or Shawn are both quite good; but your experience in general will vary wildly with which barber you get. There are two entrances straddling the Harmony Gift Center, both one level below the street. Its a bit confusing since it looks like two different shops but theyre the same.Cash-only.
Cheap and Fast Hair Cuts! They recently raised their prices from $4 to $5 for mens haircuts but its still a really good deal. It actually has 2 entrances, its right next to the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory.
This is one of the hidden gems in downtown Manhattan. For $4 you will get a nice haircut. Ask for Mr. Lee, show him the hairstyle (nothing complicated though, better if short) you like in your phone screen (Google?) and he will do it in under 10 minutes. Simple and sweet!
Got myself a great haircut. Its a fade aswell. I would highly recommend. $5 is a steal.
Really cheap! The haircut is neat too. If youre looking for cheap, fast, and neat haircut, go to this place.
This place is amazing. I was skeptical at first but really impressed with the result.
I never dreamed I would one day look so good. But turns out a simple 5$(tip not included) haircut did it! Goes to show that price tag is not always positively correlated with quality.
When youre on a budget like myself $5 cutz workx lolz My ownlee problem is lady in 2nd chair from door is very greedy for money cuz she wouldnt cut my hair til i tipped her 1st so beware of her Other barbers are nice & do a gr8 job
Cant beat a $4 haircut. It wont be the best haircut in the world, but if you dont care about hairstyles and just want a trim or simple cut, this would be the place to do it.I needed a haircut prior to a interview and didnt really care what they did, as long as it looked neat. The lady did what she could with the limited English she knew and could understand from me. It ended up being a really fine haircut.
Affordable, quick haircut. No frills.
4$ haircut in Manhattan is the lowest it gets. The haircut was better than the 40 $ haircut I got in Jersey city honestly. At that price one can get a haircut twice a month and it wont hurt his wallet. The shop smelled like a hair removal product & it wasnt pleasant but for 4$ you should just ignore it. They do walk-ins.
$8 haircut and shampoo for a pretty solid haircut. If you have short hair and just want a standard trim, pretty hard to beat this place
Very quick gread hair cut and barber.
Ask for the first man by the door.
They seem to be more of a rush to get you out the door these days. Cant say I blame them, but you can probably get a better haircut somewhere else in the same general area.
Cheap and fast service decent for simple cuts
Only 5 bucks the haircut and good service! They deserve 5 more bucks as tip!
Good haircut for 5 bucks + tip.
Great haircut, great price. The young guy and the older gentleman seem to give better mens haircuts.
The best deal in haircuts with great service.
Cheap no frills hair cut
Worth the price for a simple hair cut.
Cheap, fast, good, some staff only speaks Chinese, be prepared to use Google translate
Quick cut that looks really great. Couldnt ask for more
Great food must visit.
Great, quick service for $5. Slight language barrier but they know what they are doing.
Cut and wash for guy at $8 (before tips). Value for money and the cut is acceptable.
If you dont speak Chinese, its a $7 haircut (for females)/ $6 if you do. Asked for 2 inch trim, but got a 4 inch trim. Not too worried about it since it did the job, but wouldnt recommend if youre particular about your hair.
Great place to have a regural haircut
$5 for a mens haircut, $8 if youd like to include a hair wash/shampoo. He didnt rush through mine. Does help to speak Mandarin if youd like to describe the style though.
Cheap, but barber had hard time understanding what haircut I wanted
The cheapest haircut (second to doing it on your own!) $5 cut for guys! Its a bit hidden - take the stairs downward. Its next to Xi-ans.
Used to be $4 haircuts, now it went up to $5. Still so worth it.
If youre looking for an incredible value for getting your haircut done quickly and very manicured this is the place to go I trample 2 hours to get here and is my new place to get a haircut
Man’s hair cut is $5. Clean. They are doing a great job for the price
To cheer my wallet up, I come here. And get a haircut.
The man didnt ask me want I wanted, but gave me what I needed.
The quality and price is unbeatable
Cheapest haircuts in Manhattan, $5 mens, cant best the prices all around.
Cheap and not bad, chaircut is 5$
Cheap and quick
If you need a cheap haircut, this is the place to get it. Service is ok.
For the price, its 5 stars
Seriously can’t beat a $5 buzz!
Good for the price
You get what you pay for, a very average cut. New City One Salon does a haircut for $4 more which is 10/10!
Just go elsewhere
Ask for Sean
Strongly not recommended! !! !! After communicating with the hairdresser, I didnt know what hairstyle I cut out at the end! Unless you want to cut the simplest bald :)
Adequate
