Cozy venue. It was my birthday and they brought out a nice dessert with a candle. My date was pleased with her meal minus the salad.
The rooms are tiny. They look way bigger in picture. The guy at the front desk only spoke and gave eye contact to my husband. I wanted to tell him, “Welcome to 2021. We are using my credit card for our stay.” Someone please tell him to acknowledge women.
Great location, service and pricing. Room was upgraded and comfortable. Would definitely come back.
Really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful hotel, great location. Lovely staff. Good value for money! There was a group of guests that had a very loud party on one of the nights. The hotel apologised and handled it like pros and offered us a refund to make up for the noise that was quite frankly not their fault!A great choice!
We have stayed here a few time now and each time are so happy. The hotel is clean and the beds are comfy, the staff is friendly but the cookies in the bakery are the best!
I almost tripped over the bed when I walked in. Had a few more issues w the room but decided to edit my review to 3 stars since the manager Michaela at the front desk was calm courteous and offered me the best solution at her disposal. I appreciate them understanding. Not a great experience but they tried their best to provide excellent service
The worst hotel I ever stayed. It’s ridiculously overpriced, super small room (mind no closet storage) the staff is so rude, doesn’t care about their customers. Anything you would ask the answer will be ‘no’. The room comes with the ‘breakfast’ but it’s just a tea or coffee and tiny egg sandwich or a cup of oatmeal.Never again!
I attended fittings here for an event and although I didn’t personally stay the the hotel, the staff was excellent, helpful, and very friendly. I wish I would have picked to stay here. Even though I was not a guest staying overnight they still treated me like I was one. The hotel is gorgeous and very clean which of course is a plus
This hotel has a good location in the Nomad area of Manhattan. You can walk everywhere and anywhere. So this is a big plus! The hotel itself, the rooms are very small. So being two people in the upgraded queen rooms is pushing it. In addition the AC is manual (not central) so there is a constant noise. Since we came in May, it was fine because we could have it turned off. But it was so noisy, we would have not been able to sleep with that on in the room. Something to consider if you are a light sleeper. Also the breakfast included, is just coffee / tea and a baked good or yogurt. So not sure if you could call it a full breakfast, more a snack. But good way to get coffee in the morning!Overall, this hotel - the price point being lower, you can get a good deal if you dont want to spend a fortune on a hotel with a good location in Manhattan.
Beautiful little hotel in a historic place. Very small rooms but comfortable. Good customer service. However, their website said each room had a refrigerator and ours did not. We tried to request one but none were available
Good location friendly staff small rooms a bit overpricy
Very bad experience, we thought that we came to hotel but this one is more like Airbnb style. We visit NYC for work and we leave very early and come back very late to the room almost everyday. You have to request in advance for someone to clean and tide your room, change towels, bring you a toilet paper or soap.We are here for 3 days already and even though we were asked during check in if we need someone to clean our room we requested do to do it every day so we can take a shower after long day in a clean room with fresh towels since our days planned to be very hectic. This is the 3rd day we are here, no one clean our room, change towels or empty the rubbish bin since Saturday....The recipient were very nice and do apologize so they send us towels and soaps to the roomIn General, the rooms are very small. So being two people in the two bed room is little crowded but we are not in the room during the day so for us is only to take a shower and sleep so we didnt mind this so much.Breakfast included, is just coffee / tea and a something from the bakery or yogurt. So dont expect too muchOverall, this hotel - the price point being lower, you can get a good deal if you dont want to spend a fortune on a hotel with a good location in Manhattan.
If you wanna experience a “old New York” choose this place! It’s the best. Upon arrival the staff had a birthday card signed for me and a box of cookies! Rooms are great clean and renovated. Staff is friendly and courteous. Can’t say enough about my great experience.
Had a great stay. Good price for the location and quality/comfort factor. The breakfast was also a nice touch. Great features in the room and bathroom and cute decorative touches as well. Only issue was hallways noise as the rooms are a little close to one another. Would definitely stay again, though.
Was told they would call the authorities in 5 minutes, within 5 minutes of our arrival. We had more people in the room than the “capacity” but it was for a little birthday celebration with cake. The hostility with which we were told to leave instead of explaining the fire codes etc that they later sent someone to explain soured my view of this hotel completely. Also the room is tiny for the price paid. Would not recommend
On the plus side: The hotel and its rooms are clean and pleasant (especially when were talking in Manhattan-ish standards), and the atmosphere in the hotel is really nice and welcoming. The entire staff is very helpful and smiley, and the location is simply great, in the NoMad neighbourhood. On the neutral side: for the ones who rely on hotel breakfasts, the included breakfast might not be satisfactory, especially if youre up early. On the minus side: the water stream in the showers is slow for this level of hotel, and it requires some fixing.
Very vintage, clean and comfortable mattress. Helpful staff.
I read reviews before I came and frankly, I can not image why anyone would not think this hotel was great. For the price, location and decor, it is a real value. The rooms are small, but nice. I will stay again.
Nice receptionists, special D‘Marcus! Rooms are a little bit small, but typical for NY. Great style and good roomservice. Appreciate my stay! Thanks a lot!
The website room photos are misleading. The Deluxe King room does not necessarily come with armchairs and extra space. There is no benefit to booking direct with the hotel, they put you in the worst room of the type, may as well go through a third party site and get rewards.
This is the best value hotel in Manhattan for me.Service and style are perfectly on point. The decor is glamorous and ages beautifully. The food is delightfully opulent; I highly recommend trying everything at the cafe and indulging in the restaurant (when its back open). The staff are so wonderful and consistently going above and beyond, while being so perfectly polite. Rooms are clean and aging well. What elevates this places is their robes and slippers and the complimentary morning breakfast. This is a hotel that lets its guest relax and rest well -- exactly what is required of a home. I wish I could live here! Please do treat this place well; its a gem in NYC.
This hotel was exceptionally clean. It was so vintage and cute. Even though the rooms are small, I have no complaints at all. I would definitely stay here again. And DeMarcus at the front desk was absolutely fantastic!!
Stayed here for a weekend with my best friend and we really enjoyed our stay! The room was cozy, came with slippers and a robe and the bathroom floors are heated! We also loved that our stay came with a free coffee beverage and pastry at the café downstairs. Loved the modern and artsy vibe!
For all the hotels I’ve stayed in, in the past, this one has been my favorite. The rooms are spacious, the amenities are nice, especially for an extended stay like mine (this was part 3/3) of my stay while i moved to NY. Can’t’ beat the location either! A special shout out De’Marcus, and the rest of the staff here, they were wonderful & always helpful!!!
Good hotel for the lone business traveler.Cafeteria is nice, but took them long time during the morning rush hour to get stuff ready
The good:First and foremost, the folks at the front desk. Our interactions with them were a highlight of our stay.Next, the breakfast - our voucher came with coffee and a breakfast sandwich from the cafe downstairs. The food I could take or leave but I was a big fan of the coffee as well as the baristas themselves. Really everyone we spoke to was kind and a pleasure to interact with. The location is excellent, it was very easy to get to pretty much everywhere we needed to be.The vintage style is really tastefully executed. Not my favorite personally but if you are into that, this should be right up your alley. Its dog friendly! The not-so-excellent:Its dog friendly...which I appreciate because Hazel likes to tag along with us sometimes but on this occasion a different Hazel kept us up at night with incessant barking so it was also negative in the case. One of the two elevators was broken for our whole stay and the other was too small and too slow to properly service the amount of people who needed it.The walls seemed especially thin. Heard doors open and close, people chat all the way down the hall, just about everything in between. There were, curiously, only 3 pillows on the bed which I found strange (though to be fair, Im sure we couldve requested a fourth without issue).Overall our experience here fell a bit short. My biggest factors are bed comfort, and then general ambience, and neither really did it for me. The room was small which is normal for the area, but personally I found it to be cramped rather than cozy. I could see someone with different preferences to mine having a great stay here but my girlfriend and I both agree well look elsewhere next time were in town.
Smallest room in NYC. The hotel is super nice and the Guest Relations agent who checked us in was warm. We asked for housekeeping service twice and didn’t receive it. The shower was so bad.
As a former longtime New Yorker, where I stay when I visit is VERY important to me. And the Evelyn has it all. The prime NoMad location, updated and well laid out rooms and a staff that treats you like gold are just some of the things that make the Evelyn my home away from home. Ive been here three times in the last 1.5 years and will not stay anywhere else when I visit.GM, Sava, and DeMarcus in hospitality are especially wonderful and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome.I look forward to seeing them again in early fall!
A bit of a dump. Loud, screeching air conditioner fan... called the front desk and they said just turn it off. 86 degrees outside but the room was set at 62 degrees and could not change the temperature. Freezing! Sink faucet sprayed water all over me and the floor.
From the moment I arrived in the lobby until checkout I felt like a lady. The staff behind the front desk and the staff at the cafe were very kind. My room was spotless and up to CDC guidelines. My complementary cappuccino and pastry were delectable. It was also nice to sing along with the musical notes written in the tiles of my shower. Before leaving I connected with one of the concierge, he made me laugh and that small moment of joy made me want to have another stay at The Evelyn. I hope to go back very soon.
My family stayed here as we prepare for my wedding. Reserved a couple of rooms and stayed for days. I love the staff, the rooms are nice but small. I could have given a better review for this hotel but when we reviewed the invoice they provided, charges weren’t right. I spoke with a couple of staff and got different information from them. They gave us a return but not for all the wrong charges they made.
Good air con in the rooms, which can be rare somehow in NY. Tiny dark prison-like Queen standard rooms but if you’re not there much it’s alright. The James around the corner is a bit more expensive but much much nicer.
Pretty mediocre hotel. Rooms are fine, not terribly comfortable, and small as youd expect for nyc. Front desk staff was unhelpful and dismissive. One of two elevators was broken for 6 consecutive days. Guests forced to carry luggage down 8 flights of stairs rather than wait 15 minutes for an empty elevator to arrive. No communication from hotel about elevators, which is unacceptable in my eyes. Breakfast was good
I had an amazing experience here! The location was excellent as well as my room and the lobby. Everything was very clean and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Next time I visit NYC I will definitely be staying here again!!
Clean rooms and very helpful staff!
WORST HOTEL EVER!!!! Had to switch rooms at 4:00 a.m. because the air conditioning was not working, was not comped for that room, and was woken up at 12:05 p.m. by banging on the door saying its time to go by the hotel staff after I was already granted a late checkout!!!! Ive never felt more unwelcome anywhere in my life! Horrible horrible horrible staff!
Great location. Rooms are NY-small, but nice.
Small rooms but service is good and room is clean
If you got lucky and had a “party neighbor” near your room (like I did), you would wish you sleep on the street. :) it’s really narrow hallway where you can hear everyone speaking when they pass your door. Also every time people slap the door, you will get a notice in your room as well :). I could imagine the small room since it’s in nyc, but I couldn’t imagine such old building with such narrow hallway and terrible soundproof. It’s your bet if you want to guess whether you would get a quite neighbor. But I am not gonna let the hotel decide that for me. STAY AWAY. It’s not worth the money.
Only stayed overnight, but it was a very pretty hotel, with very friendly staff, that gave me a good nights sleep. Only docking a star as I do personally think the included grab and go breakfast could have stretched to cover ALL the hot drinks, like a chai or hot chocolate - I cant imagine doing so would break the bank. Nevertheless, will definitely remember this place when Im next in Manhattan
Hotel is beautiful. Nice rooms. Bathroom was great. Right in flatiron (great location) John at the front desk was awesome
A very excellent choice if you are out and about and not spending a lot of time in your compact, yet tidy, room. No microwaves or coffee makers here though the over-priced minibar in the closet was very welcome when I came in late my first night. The best feature of my room was the elegant and spacious bathroom that has a marvelous shower. Totally awesome. The Art Deco touch that helps define The Evelyn. My ankle is injured and Im destined for some sort of surgery so I walk slowly and in some pain. When I needed a cab and discovered that you cannot call for one, a wonderful front desk lady, Sevil, after conferring with the manager on duty, walked down the entire block and hailed a cab for me. It took about 10 minutes and then I saw her come running back up the sidewalk. Show me where else you would ever expect such service from a busy hotel in Manhattan. It just doesnt happen. Thanks Sevil !Ditto the super attention and assistance by Marissa, the reservationist for Benno, the fabulous Italian restaurant and bar that reside inside the Evelyn’s main floor. I showed up at the entry desk and needed to place a room service order and also start with a couple of glasses of wine to take to my room. She took my dinner order and also went to the bar and brought back my wine selections. 15 minutes later and a knock on my room’s door and I received the best, and I mean the absolute best Lasagna Verde Alla Ragu Bolognese that I have ever tasted. Marissa was kind and helped me accomplish my goal with ease. Voila.I was not up for sitting at the cool bar downstairs however I enjoyed my wine while watching a movie in my room. The temperature control on the wall was very accurate and I cooled my room down for sleeping on the firm, plush bed. It had a down top layer that made my sleep in a cool room all the better.I’ll be back another time when I’m ready to dance again. Oh yes, the Leonelli Bakery and Cafe on the ground floor was a lifesaver when I wanted that early morning espresso and pastry. Definitely a nice addition to the lobby area and so was their outdoor seating room ingeniously added off the curb in part of the street. It was raining lightly but I was totally protected and enjoyed my coffee in the ”fresh” air.
Very bad experience here. I notified them in advance my flight I had been canceled and I would be one day late. They falsely checked me in over the phone and claim I was there even though I called in advance to let them know I needed to make a change. They told me to fix it with CapitalOne after which I thought was odd but I believed them.Highly recommend staying somewhere else. On top of this, the hotel is a large building with only two elevators. One was broken during the entire stay and it was a total nightmare getting to the room due to the small elevator and covid constraints.
The room was very clean, however, the breakfast was horrible, its not in the center of new york, youll have to walk 15 to 20 minutes to reach, be careful with your valuables it might get stolen, even if it did get stolen they will deny it and assure you that they have checked the cameras, but they dont, there were no cameras to begin with, keep your luggage safe at all times. I wont go again.
The worst hotel! Do not stay here!
Clean, friendly, good location, beautiful hotel
Beautiful hotel! Real Art Deco experience in the best part of Manhattan.
I had been wanting to stay at the Evelyn for quite some time and finally got to on a trip to New York this past weekend. I wish I had something positive to say about the experience, other than the fact that the rooms are stylish and the Leonelli restaurant in the lobby is quite good.First the rooms...I stayed in what was supposedly a city view room, which felt like a cave midday on a Sunny day. The city view is really a view of a courtyard and adjacent building. Had to have the lights on at all times, it was so dark. There were only 3 pillows on the bed (?), which by the way had the worst spring mattress that felt like something that hadnt been updated in 20 years. The water temperature in the shower was practically impossible to nail down - the faucet was hard to turn and youd just end up too far in the cold or hot direction. The only full-length mirror was probably 10 wide, tucked between an armchair and a desk. I had to move the desk (which could only move about 2 in either direction due to space constraints) to get a good look at myself. The decor really couldnt make up for any of these things. As for the public spaces at the hotel..the lobby is really very nice, as are the bar and restaurant. Yes, Benno is closed through the summer, which is information nowhere to be found on their website. On the upper floors, the hallways are extremely narrow, the carpet is really hard to navigate with a suitcase as the wheels just keep getting stuck, the walls are very thin and you can hear other peoples business. The elevators are tiny, currently have a capacity of 2 (and especially during a pandemic, you really dont want to share them with other people), and really never seem to show up unoccupied. We opted for the stairs most of the time. At some point, one of the elevators was actually out of service. Luggage aside, I really cant imaging being physically unable to use the stairs, and having to rely on an elevators that might show up once every 10 minutes. Its not acceptable.Breakfast from Leonellis cafe downstairs was included in the rate, however it was near impossible to tell what was actually included. Turns out its black coffee and a choice of pastry. I would at least be explicit about that, because while nice, Id hardly call it breakfast.Upon checkout, we had to wait for the valet to bring our car around. We were told it would be about 30-40 minutes, which sounded excessive, but we just took a seat in the lobby to wait. Well, its a good thing I happened upon a review of the hotel while sitting in the lobby, where the reviewer mentioned waiting for their vehicle only to realize it had been sitting out front and nobody had informed them. I stepped outside only to realize...yes, our vehicle was sitting out front, not exactly sure for how long, because nobody had come to inform us. We also waited about 40 minutes. This is honestly the worst hotel to spend your money in Manhattan. There are way better hotels that will cost you just as much, if not less. Ive stayed at 2-star hotels where Ive been happier with the experience. Absolute disappointment, I would not return, and would not recommend it.
What a gem of a hotel, beautiful 1920s decor, lovely and warm staff, excellent cafe in the lobby. Will stay again!
This hotel is worth it. The price is so reasonable. The staff are so kind and attentive.
This was a sub standard stay. The Evelyn is rated as a 4 star hotel, but I really feel like it’s a 2.5 or 3 star hotel at the most. The people at the front desk were very friendly. That was the only good point. The food there is actually very good, but please be aware that none of the restaurants are open except the bakery/cafe. This of course is due to Covid and I would not hold that against the hotel. But I will say, that I wish it was made more clear on their website because I booked this hotel to go to Benno. It was only after I booked and called to try to make a reservation, that I found out it was closed until further notice. However, the hotel lacked very basic things I’ve seen in roadside motels. The rooms were very small and sparse with only a bed and a desk. The rooms are so devoid of amenities there literally wasn’t even a spare roll of toilet paper. The room was so small that you could even pull out the desk chair to sit at the desk because there wasn’t enough room. The bathroom was tiny, only 1 person could fit in it at a time. From only having 3 dinky pillows on the bed, to elevator buttons that shocked you with static electricity, and the rooms having only 1 roll of toilet paper (had to call down for an extra roll of toilet paper) to no coffee maker or fridge in the room. Our toilet also has a mishap (the chain came undone and wouldn’t flush) and thankfully my boyfriend was able to fix it.The worst offensive was probably the valet parking. We paid $176 for valet parking for 2 nights and they literally did not even let us know our car was outside. We were sitting in the lobby like idiots waiting for our car for about 30 minutes until my boyfriend noticed our car was outside. For $176 (including $50 in “service fees”) no one even helped us with our bags out to the car. They just left our car parked outside and didn’t even bother to tell us.The complimentary “breakfast” is a coffee and a small pastry. There is a very limited selection and they don’t even include the 2 actual breakfast sandwiches the cafe has on the menu. The food is actually very good, so we paid extra for extra food.So 2 stars, 1 for the friendly front desk people and 1 for the good food at Leonellis bakery.
Nice botique hotel. Rooms are small (pretty normal in Manhattan), but nicely appointed. Friendly, helpful staff. Would stay again.
Simply put they are okay
Literally the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at!!!The rooms are NOT HOW THEY LOOK in the photos!!! I booked the biggest deluxe room and it was much smaller than described. It was a size of my bathroom! When you get in the room is seems like you’re in the train. Literally doesn’t feel like a hotel. The bathroom SMELLS LIKE SEWAGE!!!And it’s so small that you can barely fit in there. The windows inside the rooms had dust all other them, room didn’t seem to be properly cleaned. The mattress is the worst quality you could imagine. It’s so soft, I felt like I’m laying in a hole. I couldn’t sleep al night, as well as my partner. We almost got into an accident on the road because of that...and that’s for 240$.I wont spend another night in that hotel even if its free. And they do not have sеcurity or 24/7 front desk service. It was a horrible experience overall. I would not recommend anyone to stаy there.P.S. anything (like water or anything on the table) you touch in the room you’re going to be charged for (and there are no signs, so it’s up to you to guess). We ended up being charged 60$ for cookies and water bc we thought it’s complimentary. Nope, it’s NY baby.STAY AWAY!!!
Clean, good price, would return
Great location, friendly service.Rooms were updated and very comfortable. Great looking lobby area for lounging with Benno bar and restaurant.
We had a wonderful stay at The Evelyn. Our check in was quick and painless, our room was clean, updated and welcoming and it was nice and quiet. A perfect place to stay for a weekend in the city. We had a drink at the bar and had a nice conversation with the bartender. We also attended the Saturday afternoon happy hour. It was a really nice event and the host we just a very nice guy. Two thumbs up to the Evelyn!
Very nice hotel. The service was great. Location is perfect and the rooms are a fine size. Would stay again. They also have a great little happy hour in their main lobby as well which is nice to come back to after a hard day of walking and site seeing.
Another memorable experience at a Triumph hotel. We were impressed with the level of customer service - the sincerity of the staff was felt. The pillows and bedding were also so comfortable, making each nights rest quality. We also stayed at the Frederick on this trip and found it to be equally excellent. Highly recommend.
Very terrible hotel! The rooms have very small, with limited space for guests to move around. The room space is only enough for the bed, a table, and a chair. All but one front desk officers were not courteous in attending to guests. Front desk officers showed their displeasure at guests approaching them for guidance or assistance. The hotel does not serve any food and does not provide any support to clients to heat water or food. No kettle, no teacups no microwave provided in the room, and when guests approach the front desk officers for assistance to heat water for tea as a precaution against COVID- 19 they refused to help. For a whole week, the beddings were not changed. Beddings were not also made available to guests to change by themselves. I would not recommend this hotel to my enemy.
Beautiful hotel, amazing customer service!
So my husband and I would have been a first time customer and possibly many more being we are in nyc for my husbands job all of the time but unfortunately had the worst experience Ive ever had in my entire life and by far the worst customer care I have ever encountered thanks to your office assistant manager john. Upon walking in with my service animal to check in, I dont even get a hello or a nice pets arent allowed but a rude toned comment about your pet policy. Being my service animal is not considered a pet, I continued to tell john the difference between a pet and a service animal, which he was absolutely not buying and still rudely called my service animal a pet at the end of that conversation. He then demanded my service animals paperwork ( which by law, ada federal law, it is ILLEGAL to ask me for documentation on my service animal. He can ask me two questions. Never do I need to provide any documentation to any facility for entry (I attached the ada federal regulations regarding this). I didnt feel like bickering with John being it was 12:00 at night and he was clearly an uninformed assistant manager. I just wanted to let him know he could indeed get sued if he keeps on going like he did with me. Everything he asked for and everything he said was indeed an illegal act against the ada federal laws. So i went to my car and got my husband and my service dog id so we could get on with our night. Thats when the discrimination and straight cruel and rude demenaor came out of john. He took my id (even though I did not even need to show him it !!!) And said this isnt good enough people make fake IDs like this all the time Im gonna need some other type of documentation. Never have I felt so insulted in my life !! How is this man working customer service let alone holding a assistant manager position when he treats guests as badly as he did ??? I said I was calling the police because they know the law and he rudely said he doesnt care if the police come in he still is not checking us in. Im literally disgusted with his behavior towards me and I feel 100 percent discriminated against. I got his information and I told him Im calling the department of justice and reporting him and this hotel for how he just treated someone with a disability and for denying a service animal for no reason but the fact that he got told the correct information and apparently he doesnt like to ever be wrong because look at how disgustingly he acted towards me after being told he was wrong. I want the highest manager or even the owner to know what happened to me tonight and how I was treated at the hotel that they own. I will make sure this this gets posted on every booking website because I truly believe people need to be aware of this nasty behavior and disgusting customer service that this hotel is clearly ok with. I would never want someone with a disability like myself to feel how low and screwed up your staff has made me feel tonight. I 100 percent intend on contacting the department of justice ASAP and reporting these discrimination acts and illegal doings against the ada laws because how john treated me tonight just doesnt sit well in my stomach. And if it comes to the department of justice telling me to also hire a lawyer to press charges against the Evelyn hotel then I intend to that that as well. I informed john this and he didnt seem concerned not one bit that I was contacting the higher ups at your hotel or the ada regarding his illegal behavior and discrimination against someone with disabilities. In fact he couldnt have cared less. You may want to learn the laws and regulations regarding the ada and teach your staff what they can and cannot do and how to act because johns behavior tonight wasnt just belittling it was unacceptable and if I owned a hotel he is the last person I would want dealing with any human being because clearly he does not know how to. Attached are ada laws and regs that your staff went agains
Very nice hotel close to the Flatiron Building. The staff are attentive and nice. The room itself was small but very nice and clean. The bathroom floors also felt like they were heated which was a plus as theyre tile. The low price coupled with location gives it 5 stars easily. The staff also knows the area well.
Stuff was stolen from my room during the day when I was out.A bag full of new thing that I bought ‘disappeared’....I guess that one of the staff members got into the room and took it.I complaint about it the moment I noticed it gone but the hotel management don’t see themselves responsible for this act and keep claiming that nothing was taken out of the room.••••••••••••••••As you probably understand, I can’t recommend this place. In case you’re still planning on staying there, keep your items in the suitcase and lock it while you’re out of the room. The only pic I got from the room (the musical concept is nice though)
An absolutely beautiful space thats superbly managed.
We were well taken care of from the moment we arrived until we departed. Our room was beautiful, and the staff was very welcoming. At the managers reception our first evening, we were served wine and snacks and had entertaining interactions with the staff. The coffee shop had excellent pastries for breakfast and has a beautiful little cookbook library on the second floor. The restaurant in the back had good food and great drink prices. Kayla was wonderful, from the introductory email the day before our arrival until our check-out. We loved her and the entire experience and cant wait to return.
Room was a closet with a closet. Bathroom was a nice size.
Another amazing stay at the Evelyn. From the phenomenal staff making you feel like royalty to the fabulously clean and comfortable rooms, you can’t go wrong with staying here. Great food in the in-hotel restaurant and amazing service!
The Evelyn was so quaint! Tiny rooms compared to what Im used to, but very cute. Loved the bakery attached to the lobby! Best coffee I have had in a long time!!
Beautiful hotel with an Italian restaurant downstairs plus a breakfast cafe with a private upstairs lounge area. Room was awesome, very comfortable bed and a bathroom with a heated floor and glass shower with rain-style shower head. LOVED IT! Extremely friendly front desk and Dipak was incredible with my bags and car!
Lovely hotel and staff. Rooms were tastefully decorated, with great attention to detail. Location was brilliant - just a few minutes from the empire state building. Lots of great shops and restaurants nearby. The only downside was that our window looked onto the wall only a few feet away so was therefore dark with no view. There was also building work going on which meant some disruption in the foyer and no bar / restaurant.
Stayed here one night with my family and was extremely happy with the service, the room, and the location. We were on the 23rd floor in a double suite and the room was perfect, roomy and the view was spectacular. Room had a small kitchenette which was perfect to keep snacks and beverages in a full fridge. Keurig and coffee and tea provided as well. Starbucks conveniently located on corner.
My third trip back to the Evelyn in the last 12 months. I choose it not only for the convenience to my client on Madison Avenue, but for it’s comfort, quality and overall welcoming approach. The rooms are all set up to the highest quality, I’ve stayed in different floors and always quiet, with minimal external noise. Small gym, but has everything that you need. Highly recommend The Evelyn for business or pleasure!
Yes, it was good, but not perfect! The rooms were beautiful and functional (small), but the services were not so good! The reception didnt answer any call and the room wasnt tidied sometimes. This is a good hotel for people wants to stay out all day, but it isnt so good for people stay frequently in room.
The hotel is in a great location, in the flatiron district. Great decor and friendly staff. My room was clean, quaint and comfortable. You can hear people walking and talking in the hallway and elevator is very slow and only one working. The hotel is under renovations and will be a lovely gem in the neighborhood. Will stay here again
Perfect location in Manhattan. We had an awesome time in new york at this hotel! Very clean rooms, quiet (thereby we were able to sleep very well), friendly and helpful staff. Our toilet was clogged once but got fixed immediately. Special thanks to John, who gave us very good advises for discovering the city, asked more than once if everything was okay and made us feel very comfortable and as home. Thank you!
Great hotel. Great service by the bellhops and the staff. Small but really nice rooms. Also the front desk gave us free coupons for tea, coffee and snacks at the cafe downstairs. Only problem i had was the shower was really hard to adjust to a warm temperature. But other than that great experience. Definitely would stay again.
Had a good stay at The Evelyn! Rooms were small, but thats to be expected in NYC. We had a King bed in our room which left less than 2ft on either side of the bed, but again, thats NYC. Dont expect giant rooms.Room was clean and well stocked. Our mini fridge did not work, though. Bathroom was a comfortable but small size, and shower was a good size.Staff was helpful and accommodating. Lobby is under construction so a little small, but not bad. Only major complaint I have is the paper thin walls. We could hear housekeeping in the hallways around 8am each morning which woke us up. Besides that, we couldnt hear other guests in their rooms.Overall, Id recommend for an easy and convenient stay in a clean hotel near all the major sights.
Great hotel with a nice feel and aesthetics. The room felt a bit small, but not cramped, and the room and bathroom were always kept clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and willing to help when I had questions about the area. Definitely recommend, and its close to subway station and walking distance to other tourist destinations. The hotel is a part of a chain with other hotels in the area, and provide a complimentary walking tour to the guests of the hotels. Definitely worth trying if youre new to the area and want to get a condensed feel of the area.
Im a frequent traveler to NYC and Im afraid I would not return to The Evelyn. The deciding factor was the lack of sound proofing. Early in the morning, I was able to hear the shower pipes go off from another room as well as people talking as they left. Interestingly, I only found out after booking a non-refundable rate that a friend who deals with a lot of corporate travel said they wouldnt recommend The Evelyn. Its a bit difficult to find The Evelyn at first since theres no clear signage. The elevators were slow. I do appreciate front desk offering bottles of water when we checked in - great touch. Otherwise, I think the hotel is serviceable (despite the lack of soundproofing) and there are plenty of other hotels in the area to choose from.
Wonderful experience at The Evelyn. Undergoing renovations yes, but hardly noticeable. Elevator was slow, but only one was for guest use. Second elevator was being used for construction. Once renovations are finished, I imagine everything will be fine. Take the stairs anyway, its better for you. Room was somewhat small yes, but who spends all their time in their hotel room in New York? The Evelyn is perfect; great location, room was clean, linens were top notch, and bathroom had new fixtures and plenty of room. Plus it wont break the bank. Front desk and other staff were more than friendly and very courteous. I cannot wait to return. I can honestly say The Evelyn has earned my business for all future trips to New York. When improvements are finished, it will be even better. Itll get there; Rome wasnt built in a day.
Beautiful hotel. Small rooms with great features. Bathroom is big enough but he bedroom has just enough room to fit the bed and your stuff. Cozy but not crammed.
Great hotel, nice place to stay close by Union Square and the flatiron. Nice decoration, all the necessary amenities are there in the room. You must try the bakery downstairs, and dont forget the complimentary drink they will offer!
Lovely hotel with everything you need - great staff and a cute decor theme as well, this hotel does a good job of bridging the old and the new. Rooms are tiny but absolutely useable.
I would still give The Evelyn Hotel 5 stars even though they are currently renovating their lobby. Check-in process was smooth and easy and Kevin Barnes, the General Manager was beyond hospitable. The room is in pristine condition (bathroom is very clean, sheets and towels feels fresh, furniture and amenities were in great condition) They have a safe and mini cooler for a few bottled drinks. Overall, we had an amazing stay. Great staff, great location, well-kept rooms. Thumbs up!
The Evelyn is a great hotel. I have been staying here a lot over the past year and a half and they are finally done with the renovation. The lobby is beautiful and there are now a two dining options, a Cafe and a full restaurant. Only downside is no more complimentary coffee since the Cafe is attached. Staff is always super awesome. They do need to replace their irons though. The last few room I had, the irons had black/brown burnt build up on them. No way am I risking ruining a shirt. Im sure they would bring a proper one if I asked but I shouldnt have to. Rooms are small but hey, its new york.
I really enjoyed this hotel, from the Vintage Style Decor including the craftsmanship and details, I even appreciated the one slow elevator. Although I could visibly tell others were annoyed by it, I think it was charming. Everything was clean and the staff was professional and polite. I guess we could have stayed at a modern newer hotel but somehow staying here really added to my NY experience. I would definitely stay here again. Plus its in a very convenient location!
This is a very cool and clean hotel. The rooms are small but very well organized. I like the atmosphere and the staff is very nice. I recommend the bar on the first floor. I will definitely be staying here next time I am in the area.
Excellent responsive customer service, striving to offer a great experience as the hotel works through some teething issues. Rooms are fresh and clean, with upscale fittings. The bathrooms have rain showers and heated floors. Air conditioning runs strong, quiet and cold. Beds and linens are comfortable. Rooms away from the street are fairly quiet. Small inconveniences: the hotel bar cant charge back to your room, and one of the elevators always stops on the fourth floor.
Rooms are small so get a suite if thats going to be a problem for you
Do not give this Hotel your correct email address. I only gave my email out once during my stay in NY and that was the Evelyn Hotel, and since then have been bombarded with spam email every single day with on some occasions up to 40 emails a day. It could not have come from any other source. This is completely unacceptable behavior. They have passed on or sold my personal data onto a 3rd party.Hotel room a little small but generally comfortable.
Beautiful and thoughtfully done. High-quality throughout. In the room i stayed in, the layout and design made the room feel elegant, even though it was of their smallest room type (for travelers new to New York City: be aware that hotel room there tend to be much smaller than comparable options elsewhere in the US). That smallest room is a good fit for one person, and very conducive to relaxing after a day of business. Parties of two might do well to opt for a larger room, if they can. The location is excellent, also -- an easy walk to abundant, varied dining options and to Madison Square Park.
Hotel was under renovations so we were not fully able to enjoy amenities. Room size was tight but comfy bed. When visiting or on business I would not expect to spent too much time in the room anyway. Staff was eager to help. I would consider staying here or other Triumph hotels in NY
Very cozy and comfortable!
Great hotel and location! Enjoyed a lot the stay and will come back soon. The gym is too hot, need better AC
We stayed here the last week of September 2019 and it was wonderful! We originally booked at Hotel Pennsylvania (for the location) but changed to The Evelyn (same price!) after reading the reviews and we are so glad we did. It was quaint and quiet, and only a 5 minute walk from the flat iron district. Check-in was a breeze, the staff were superb, the rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable (bathroom had a rain shower and plenty of amenities). They give you complimentary water bottles upon arrival and on some evenings offered free champagne and fruit. Also, their onsite cafe had free breakfast every morning (coffee/juice + a pastry -> the pistachio croissants are 10/10). There were no weird charges or extras we werent informed of (they will hold your bags for free which apparently other hotels charge for?), free fast wi-fi, plenty of charging ports... Honestly the list goes on. You really get your moneys worth. Would stay again in a heartbeat!
The service is good. Clean hotel with all you need. They provide complementary drinks for new guests. Give it a 4-star just because the room was very small, but still had everything you needed. A sign outside the hotel would also help, to spot it from a car
