An honest and competent auto shop does exist in Manhattan. Kevin and the crew were helpful, upfront, and shared the information I needed to make a sound decision on my cars repairs. The work was done quickly, at a reasonable price (for NYC) and I wasnt pushed into things I didnt need. I plan on coming back here for a long time.

Took my SUV there for a diagnostic since the motor would power off at stops and this was nearby, as well as a pretty favorable review commenting on trustworthiness of this shop. I didnt mind having to wait until two days for them to get back to me. I was quoted about $970 for parts and labor. I figured it would be cheaper to tow it to our regular mechanic who ran two diagnostics with two different machines which did not show the problems from the quote, and in fact the issue was resolved for just over $200. Beware.

Dont ever use them for towing services, they will keep delaying and delaying for you to pay them more money to come to you faster, 2 hours to get to 10 min away from their location and thats after the driver texts you and tells you they are en route

I was stranded in NYC. This company came with 15 min and rescued me out traffic. Cristian was excellent guy who provided the service quickly and professionally and drove me back to Jersey safe and sound. I highly recommend Cristian as a top notch service provider for this company.

I came in on a front passenger tire flat with 8yr old tires. I had a great experience at the 54th Street Auto Center. My car was towed there after calling AAA. I had a problem with my insurance company at the outset and Kevin was patient and very helpful in getting it resolved. In addition to excellent customer service, they are clearly very knowledgeable and experienced and were able to diagnose the problem with my car right away. They did excellent work and returned my car to me cleaner than it has been in years! I also very much appreciated that they offer late hours so I was able to pick my car up in the late evening after I finished work.

Kevin and the entire staff was professional and helpful. They worked with my insurance and had my repairs done quickly and my car was returned in the best condition it had been in since the day I got it. Recommend very highly.

Scheduled a tow on Friday afternoon for Saturday morning. Spoke to a really friendly professional man three times setting everything up. Tow never happened on Saturday, no one called, I came to realize car wasnt towed on Monday morning. Called 54th street auto and 45 min on the phone led to no help, no apology, wouldnt accept credit card over the phone or cash up arrival. They totally screwed me over and didnt care at all.

In this mean world today, to be treated with such respect and civility by every one I interacted with, from the front office to the shop itself, was a pleasure. They very clearly communicated each step of the repair process, AND kept their word. And the quality of the work was superior.

I had my car repaired at the AAA garage on 54th Street, great service and finished product (repairs to a German sports car) was beautiful, and Im guessing much more cost effective than taking to the Dealer (I hope anyway =o). Kevin was my customer service rep and was very attentive and responsive and kept me posted as they obtained OEM parts needed to complete the repairs. Ive had work done here before and great service and work work product is what brought me back, confidence in the service and pricing. Great work guys!

I started going to 54th St. auto center in 1990 when they were called JLM. I have continued to go to them for 30 years because they do an excellent job every time. They not only provide standard car maintenance, but they do incredible bodywork. The owner only recommends what needs to be done. Their prices are excellent. Most importantly, I trust them implicitly. I go nowhere else.

First off, Ill say that I NEVER leave reviews. Ever. This is the first time I have felt passionate enough (about any customer experience, let alone an experience at a mechanic shop) to do so.So, my car broke down and I ended up getting it towed via AAA to 54th St. I was hesitant after reading some mixed reviews online, and I live in BK and wanted to find a shop closer to home. In the end, I am SO happy I ended up going with 54th St.From the very first day, Kevin was very communicative with me and listened to my concerns about my cars history and issues. He kept me informed throughout the entire process and was very forward with me about money and where & how I could save / what was worth spending more on.The entire repair process took a couple of weeks, but most of that time was waiting on one part to arrive. When I went to pick-up the car (this was during COVID), it had been cleaned on the outside and the inside, everyone was wearing masks, and I was supplied with disinfectant to wipe down any surfaces before driving off.My car works perfectly, and I even received a text from Kevin checking up on it a week later.As a young woman, I am unfortunately accustomed to being treated as lesser-than at auto shops. Im always wary of being taken advantage of or being ripped-off. This was NOT at all my experience at 54th St. Kevin listened to me fully, he never questioned my understanding of my car. I have been coming here for quite a while, 10 years in fact. Customer service is always excellent as well as the repair. They do amazing body work and take care of everything (insurance wise) from the beginning. It is very rare to find an auto shop that actually cares enough and is detail oriented. I love the fact that they detail the car at no charge to me before they return it. I have never had any issues, they have definitely earned my trust, I wouldnt go anywhere else!

Brad is very knowledgeable about cars and gives an honest opinion about what needs to be fixed and the costs. He worked well with me to decide what were the priorities to be repaired and what could be done later to save on costs. Their prices are very reasonable for New York City, and they do a great job. Its a way better and less expensive option than going to the dealership.

After forty years with my mechanic in Brooklyn, he called to advise me that he would be retiring and closing the shop. My initial reaction was selfish, Now where do I go? It didnt take long to find out . My battery died and wouldnt keep a charge. I took my car in to where AAA had sent a tow truck from. They replaced my battery and customer service was excellent. Not long after, I needed belts changed and again customer service and the work performed were excellent. Since then, my oxygen sensor needed attention and again they came through with service and follow-up. It looks like I will be establishing another great relationship with a garage and I wont have to drive an hour to Brooklyn.

Got a routine oil change and tire rotation the other day. Extremely fast, done within an hour. I recommend calling/going when they open. No cheeky comments about other problems, would highly recommend! $35 for oil change/filter and $15 for tire rotation.

I had an awesome experience with this towing company after calling AAA. They came to the busiest part of Manhattan, right in front of Port authority, within 45 minutes as promised. Angel the driver was very helpful and friendly, and went above and beyond. He was really great. I would use them again.

My car broke down in a parking garage on 28th Street during a visit from Boston. What could have been an especially distressing situation was made much better by Edwins graceful and prompt handling of matters. After some troubleshooting, a battery change and a tow to the shop, the fuel pump was deemed shot.The shop told us it would take a few days and as we retrieved our things from the car they offered us a ride to the bus stop for us to head back north. I received the call that the car was fixed a few days later and, after another long bus ride from Boston to Manhattan, I picked up my car and its never run better. Averaged about 36 mi/gallon on the trip home which is way above average and shes never been more of a pleasure to drive.Everyone at the shop was so transparent, sympathetic and understanding of the unease that comes with an expensive repair. In such a precarious situation that (from past experience, I know) could have been much more frustrating, Im very grateful we ended up at 54th Street Auto Center and cant recommend them highly enough.

They told me they could repair my car if I stopped it off. We arranged a time. When I got there they informed me that is have to stay with the car (for hours) while they repaired it. Classic bait and switch. I wouldnt recommend.

My car was frozen with a bad alternator and I was picked up by their tow truck to their AAA friendly facility. I was covered under warranty, but some issues caused a delay. Ive been bringing my Dodge Caravan to Kevin at 54th Street for more than 10 years and he never tries to talk me into repairs that I dont need. They are excellent diagnosticians and always let me know what needs to be taken care of right away and what can wait. The work is always done right the first time. The guys are friendly and professional and I can pick up the car literally at any time since there is someone there 24 hours. I wouldnt take my car to anyone else in Manhattan.

We were struggling to get someone to tow us after a flat tire near the ramp to GW bridge and our tow guy sent by acura provided the best customer service and we enjoyed talking to him on the ride back to the garage. The manager on shift at the time was great too. He explained how his guys need to provide top customer service and that his trucks are always clean

The rear right side of my Rav4 was making strange noises when turning uphill. I called 54th Street Auto the morning of Good Friday, explained the issue and Brad said to bring in the vehicle. He drove with me and looked under the rear end to find that the suspension arm control brackets were badly rusted and one broken. He ordered the new parts from Queens and had the car ready within 3 1/2 hours. Great service, friendly and priced fairly. I highly recommend this business!!

After an unfortunate and unforeseen malfunction with my car late at night, I was directed by the AAA tow truck driver to have my car brought to 54th Street Auto Center rather than having it towed farther to my usual mechanic, where I assumed repairs would be less expensive. I am so glad I took the driver’s advice, as I couldn’t be more pleased with the service and kindness of everyone at 54th St in repairing my vehicle, and also giving it a comprehensive diagnostic and informing me of their recommendations. I was shocked to find that my car didnt start when I went to drive it on Thanksgiving day! They towed the car to their facility. They fixed the car quickly and sent me on my way. I called a few months later because the battery was dead, I found that to be quite strange since I just replaced the battery a few short months earlier. When I called, Kevin told me that the battery was new and was still under warranty. I called the dealer, gave them that information and sent the receipt to the dealer, at Kevins insistence, accepted the warranty. I was with my mom and daughter from Philadelphia to see the Harry Potter Show when our car broke down. Every person we dealt with from 54th street Auto was amazing. They were courteous, kind, patient and so accommodating!!!! They made sure we made it to our show on time and kept us informed as to the status of our car. When Kevin called to inform us that the car was unsafe to drive they were so accommodating with us to help arrange for a car rental. We can’t say enough wonderful things about 54th Street Auto. My experience here is unfortunate. The estimate for potential repairs to my vehicle were very high, and somewhere in tow, or while they had possession of my vehicle, I had items stolen from my car.I did feel that the price quoted for repair was outrageous, but I do not live in NYC for that very reason. EVERYTHING IS EXPENSIVE THERE! I ultimately got the repair done at my local mechanic in CT for literally 1/3 of what 54th would have charged.I was beyond frustrated and angry at the repair estimate, the fact that I had to leave my gear behind in NYC and return the next day to get it, and that my personal items came up missing. Heated words were exchanged between Brad the dispatcher, Nick the owner and myself. All of us sharing the same frustration with the situation. I thinking the worst of them, and they thinking the worst of me.After several phone calls, and a couple days of reflection, I called the guys at 54th back, and they did offer to compensate me for the loss of my items since they were lost on their watch. It was not the total cost of the items, but they could have told me they would do nothing.I dont know Brad or Nick personally, but I feel we resolved the situation with the best outcome we could generate at this time.

Ive been coming to 54th Street Auto for at least a decade. No complaints. The work is always first rate, but even more I appreciate the way they always take the time to explain what work needs to be done and why, what can be put off and what cant, and they always lay out cheaper options. Like good doctors, theyre always happy to answer questions, and Ive never had a bill that didnt closely reflect the estimate. The AAA affiliation is obviously a plus: 54ths tow and battery service guys are also great. (Ive got an old car and have used them more than once.) Bonus: my car always comes back cleaner after inspections!

I discovered my cars battery was dead and a couple tires were flat after it had not been driven for several months. As a AAA garage, 54th Street Auto was courteous and responsive my several requests. They were amenable to working within my timeframe.

Ive been a customer of 54th street Auto for 19 years and 4 cars....and in that time, they have always gone above and beyond the call of duty and made sure my cars where safe to drive. I have never felt as if I was ripped off..which is BIG...they have always been courteous and professional.

We had an incident where our windshield got destroyed. They dispatched a tow truck that arrived within 20 minutes and had us back at the shop 15 minutes later. They were friendly, helpful, and got our issue diagnosed quickly. Everyone there helped make a traumatizing experience much more bearable. I was towed by AAA to 54th St Auto center after breaking down during the morning commute. There I met Brad who greeted me with very pleasant service and thoroughly explained my cars problems. After years of dealership service, I just found my new repair facility.

Two weeks ago I had a blow-out and AAA brought me car to 54th Street late on a Friday night. Not only did they have my car ready for me Monday morning but they were able to locate and install the spare tire kit that Fiat and Chrysler never seemed to be able to do. I am very happy to now have 54th Street Auto as my go to service center.Dan T. Manhattan

This is the best shop by far my in NYC. The service is excellent and turn around is quick. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Ive been using them for years and wont use anyone else.

Best auto shop in nyc. Excellent service and repair job on my 2003 Sonata. Brad and Nick are always accommodating, honest, courteous and trustworthy, which is rare for nyc. Love the follow up calls too.
