The concert was great. However the townhall is old and needs new chairs and lights
Too many people cannot understand the basic principle of KEEP RIGHT! Otherwise its a nice walk through crazy modern architecture with bird killing glass.
Lovely old concert hall. Went tonight to The Big Quiet mass meditation event. It was practically a full house and there was quite a long line to get in. The staff at the box office, the ticket takers and ushers were all very friendly and efficient. Managed to get everyone inside quickly. The theater hooks about 1500 and you can tell its been well kept although the seat next to me had a rip in the fabric. The acoustics are quite nice. Sounds had a nice deep full sounding vibrations. I recommend the loge seats in the balcony which has a very nice view of the stage and is a bit roomier than most sections as it only seats three per section and row. Tickets price were reasonable in comparison to some other Broadway theaters in the neighborhood. I wouldnt mind coming back to see other performances.
Easy to see right off of 43rd Street servicing Midtown and the adjoining areas of Manhattan. Parking on the Street is available but it fills up fast especially at night and on the weekends. Parking lots are close by. Great for the small venue shows like Gary Valenciano and other performers of his Caliber. Reasonably priced. Moderately clean facilities. Public Restrooms. Credit cards accepted. We will definitely be going back.
Lots of space, good ambience, good sound system and great seating arrangement*, no matter where you sit, you get a clear view of the stage.*Only thing is the seats are little bit smaller than usual and are not much comfortable for person above 511. But anyway you go there to enjoy show not the seats. :P
This place is fantastic! We were there last night, the sound was great, the lighting was great, the atmosphere of the theatre was great. Its not a huge theatre, the size is more intimate, very comforting. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The only concern was the drink prices are very steep, $15 for a glass of beer. We had beverages right before the show and then waited until after and saved almost $50 that way ;)
The location was great! It was my first time coming in for a concert at this location, after working in Midtown all these years! Finally, in 2019 (5/09), I got to hear one of my favorite artists in concert in person for the first time. Remembering the past and looking forward, this is a special day that I hope that I remember. 😊
The place is not too big, so even if you sit at the last row (on the ground floor) it is still pretty close and you can see pretty good. The the seats though have no angle so if someone tall or with big hair sits in front of you, you can’t see a thing. Also there a really small bar, and because you can’t bring any food or drinks, you have to wait a very long line for the bar, and the drinks are extremely expensive!!!! Because they bring you reusable cups, I paid for two beers 28$!!!!
I absolutely love this venue! Easy to get to from where I usually say (near mid town or Central Park), intimate and comfortable seating. I went to see Trevor Noah here a few years ago and tonight go to see Peter Bence .. Peter is AMAZING! Anyone who likes piano should take an opportunity to see him if they can! Highly recommend Peter Bence and the venue!
My friend and I went to see the Korean band The Rose and loved the concert. We had GA tickets but still got amazing seats. The only downside were all of the sound issues for the band. But in all honesty it made it an even better concert. Easy to find and a great location. Would definitely go back again.
Nice intimate place. Seats space a bit small but manageable. The Mockingbird project was excellent very insightful and informative. I think everyone should watch this. I wish more of my coworkers attended due to dealing directly with mass incarceration.
This a such a beautiful venue. I’ve been several times and the interior is just spectacular. There really isn’t a bad seat because the theater is small enough to make the show very intimate.
This petite venue makes for intimate and memorable concerts.Been here twice and the staff have always been sweet. And since its practically in the heart of Times Square, theres a wide variety of restaurants to visit before a show, and pharmacies in case something comes up. Everything is just a short walk away.
Venue was nice. Had a classic feeling, but the seats arent made for this modern era because they are very tiny. You have to be both short and slim to fit comfortably, both of which Im not. Not even an aisle seat works.
This is my first time in town hall for a show. The location is amazing,, inside is gorgeous and the show was unbelievably beautiful. A talented performance by Havasi. He is a brilliant composer, musician and performer. He is passionate about piano and to remember as many different musical sets as he did without any written notes in front of him is extraordinary.A brilliant human being and I am so glad that I attended and had a chance to experience such a perfection!
I saw City and Colour here, and the acoustics in this venue where phenomenal. It’s the perfect sized theater to maintain an intimate feeling while also enabling the excited energy of a large enough crowd. It’s kind of an old building, which adds interesting character (since I didn’t experience any problems because of that).
Absolutely incredible venue. Very friendly and helpful staff. Saw Imogen Heap here. This venue is very intimate and everything was excellent. Stairs down to the bathroom are narrow and the bar tab was astronomical at $16 a drink. We got two doubles so it came out to $66. Otherwise, fantastic venue. Be sure to find parking ahead of time. I hope to be back soon!
Small venue walking distance from Port Authority. It only seats 1500 people so you can see the stage well from all sections. The sound quality is good but the seats are really uncomfortable. At six-foot-two, Im tall but not freakishly tall. I could not get comfortable the entire show. My knees were pressed against the seat in front of me the whole time and with people sitting next to me, I had to keep my legs together to avoid touching them. This wouldnt have mattered so much if it was the type of show that people stood up for, but everyone sat for the whole show. It got so uncomfortable that I was relieved when someone in my row had to get out because it meant I got to stand up for a few seconds and stretch out to let them pass. The drinks are a ripoff even by concert venue standards. $17 for a vodka and club soda is really ridiculous. It wasnt even a double.
Good job
Ive seen two different shows here and its such a fantastic space and so while we run. The Acoustics are amazing
This is such a quintessential New York institution. The seats are comfortable in the view lines are all good. I love the historical information posted on the walls upstairs. I wish I could have been there for the Margaret Sanger riot in 1921.
The show that we went to was AMAZING. The venue was really beautiful and pretty clean, and all seats had a pretty good view of the stage. I gave this a 3 though because it was so hot in here that I was actually sweating along with the other 4 of my friends. It was so bad we had a hard time paying attention. Luckily it was an awesome show so we were fine. Further, beer was $15 which is kind of absurd when you are at a comedy show. Last, there were only 5 unisex bathrooms which makes the lines pretty long.Overall, I would go back if I had to, but wow, really could easily improve some things to make the experience better.
Great location for concerts. Small enough that everyone has a good seat. We love the Live From Here shows here almost every weekend in the fall/winter.
The Broadway by the Years shows are spectacular. Professional Broadway stars singing, dancing and sharing their tremendous talents. Always a great time
I’ve been here twice once to see Phoebe Waller-Bridge and the second to see Tanya Tucker. The venue is large. Refreshments are in the lobby, which isn’t the best placement. Both times I sat in the mezzanine. Seats are plump but leg room is a bit squished.
TH is a classic old theater that is well maintained with friendly staff. Easy to get to seats. Small venue of approx 1500. We had Loge seats and they were awesome. I think upper balcony may seem far from stage. If you have an opportunity to see a show here take advantage!
Theater was comfortable, not quite as tight as other theaters in the area. Refreshments on both floors, restrooms fairly easy to find, great acoustics. Not bad at all!
Ive been here many times and each time it seems like the venue is more and more in disrepair. The security people at the door were VERY RUDE! During the concert I think it was head of security going over to patrons standing and shining his flashlight on them to stop taking pictures. This was very rude to the other patrons trying to see the concert, while he blocks their view. As every venue is different (some places allow taking of photos with no flash), an announcement shouldve been made about no taking of photos. Speaking of announcements, what happened to letting us know where the emergency exits and rest rooms are, and how long intermission was going to be.
Beautiful theater with great acoustics! Unfortunately for me i find the seats uncomfortable. Specifically, my left knee is really uncomfortable when sitting in the seats. Ive only experienced this one other time and that was in the theater in London.
My favorite venue in NYC. Great sound. Easy to get to. Always great curated variety of musicians, Interviews, poetry, performance, Q&A’s. I highly recommend this place. I love the front row Loge sections. Enjoy.
Nice place! Went here to see a nice show from Chris Thille! Common and Isakov performed! Great experience. Easy way to get in & out of the place. The line to get drinks is very long. Make sure you have cash
I had the great opportunity to see The Alan Parsons Project Live Show here. Our seats were great as well as the acoustics. The people working the venue were friendly & helpful.
Got to see Imogen Heap here. Great atmosphere and nice intimate layout. Sound could of been better though. Definitely lacked bass. Otherwise great experience.
Saw a Billy Idol concert here the other day. The venue is nice but the seats are pretty narrow! Not a lot of space, especially in the winter if you have your coats and stuff. Overall tho, the acoustics are good and the decor is nice and minimal.
Recently enjoyed the (Canadian) tenors here. Christmas show was great. Wife & I enjoyed, saw them few years back at Westbury Music Fair.
Went to see a comedian there. Not really wheelchair accessible friendly but the workers were so accommodating that I was able to enjoy myself and feel comfortable. Thats why I still give it 4 stars.
Nice, intimate theater. I saw one of my favorite artists and it was an amazing show!
It was good. I cant get over the bar tab. I paid $67 for two drinks??? That is outrageous. Good theater, but I would suggest you drink next door at the bar.
Awesome theater-- ORIGINAL theater built for Not a bad seat in the houseSecond tier front seats seem best.Mens room downstairs better than upstairs shared female/male bathroom.Night in October 2013 - wine cup was $16
Easily accessible & with expensive parking ($50 for 4 hrs) within a few steps, this is an elegant venue. Drinks were pricey & water $6, but to be expected. Had orchestra seats off to the side & would have preferred front balcony, but no complaints. Staff was friendly & security wasnt rude or over the top for the Wanda Sykes show that was recorded for Netflix.
Love this venue! I have seen three shows here (yo la tengo once and live from here twice). There is no bad seat in the house! I have sat once in the balcony, twice in orchestra, and all seats had a great view of the stage. I love the plush red seats and old theatre vibe. The people selling refreshments are hilarious, and the ushers are friendly and helpful. I hope to see another show here soon.
Theres probably not one bad seat here. Good sound system. Historical building. Reasonably priced. Whats not to like?!
An Institution in Manhattan for at least more than fifty years. The idea of the name: The Town Hall gives away its importance as an entertainment space in New York City..An extraordinarily varied program from Prairie Home Companion to Indian sitar playing musical numbers and more ethnic based projects on stage. Most certainly a live and great venue for exclusive one night stands for leading entertainers, comics and others who are seeking a smaller more intimate space than Madison Square Garden or Radio City Music Hall..People should definitely enjoy this event space..
Just a beautiful old theater. Well run and staffed by nice people.
Attended Korean rock band The Rose concert. Great acoustics for rock. Comfortable seats, at least for the little bit of time I sat down.
Legendary venue hosting the most legendary music show on the planet. Go see Town Hall and go see Live From Here!!
I went to see Emin live concert last Thursday Night and it was an awesome concert I had a fun time!
Great venue. Very courteous staff. Only complaint was their bottled water was warm. If youre going to charge $5 for a $1 bottle of water, it should be cold.
Beautiful venue, went to see Live From Here (which really is a better experience seen Live From There)
Historic place with an excellent sound system. Very good staff. Could not ask for more.
This venue always has amazing performers, writers, and musicians. Ive seen David Sedaris, Imogen Heap, Damien Rice, and the Ally Coalition Talent Show here. Returning this Saturday to see Daniel Handler for my birthday!!!
Great view no matter where you sat . lighting was amazing . and the staff are very helpful.. Clean bathrooms . and alcoholic beverages sold are always a plus. They always put on acts such as stage shows, comedy shows, the drag show the haters roast. Definitely a great venue
The theater is gorgeous ! An intimate place to see a show and teeming with history. Old time elevators with an elevator operator add to the ambience the seats are comfortable and the bathrooms were clean would love to see a show there again !
