Aidan Gill is the best barber shop in the world. If you haven’t had the AGFM experience, you are missing out. I have been a customer of Aidan’s for 20 years. He’s forgotten more about barbering and men’s grooming than most people know about the subject.Aidan is the world’s great best storyteller. And his products are the best on the market.Do yourself a favor and visit. Or order some AGFM grooming products for home as the next best thing.

I will start out with: I didn’t get a cut but was told about their extensive historical barbershop artifacts. My beautiful wife and I stopped by and was pleasantly surprised to see quite a collection of antique barbering equipment. We were met by a very nice lady who very graciously and proudly showed off the displayed antiques. If ever you are in the area and have more than a few minutes you should definitely stop by to admire the collection and while you do that be sure to review the extensive products for sale in there while you are at it. I would definitely enjoy a one on one with the owner/collector if ever the opportunity arose. I am an out of towner but the next time I am through I will definitely make sure my hair is longer so I can sit in the antique barber chair and get my hair cut. Though they won’t do the place and the antiques real justice check out these pics.

A real treat for me whenever Im staying in the city. Service is excellent. An incredible collection of vintage barbering items on the walls as well as merch. Be sure to make an appointment and enjoy.

Aiden staunchly defends the traditional barbershop. Have a pint with your trim. Shop the very nicely curated merch, and get Aidens fantastic and unique aftershave cream.

The ambiance is delightful while the skill of staff is beyond compare.

Sunny was great! Possibly the best haircut I’ve ever gotten in undoubtedly the coolest shop I’ve visited. Everyone in the shop was very friendly and attentive. I was recommended to come here by a good friend, and I will be back anytime I’m in or near New Orleans.

Best shave around, they take the extra time to prep your skin so you get the closest shave possible...its like a spa day for men.I also had them cut my kids hair, and they did a great job.

I got a haircut and a shave and was very pleased with both. The shave was especially nice. I didnt need another shave for 3 days. On the way out, the cashier tried to double the tip amount but we got that straight. I figured innocent mistake. My brother went to the same barber shop a couple of days later. Same innocent mistake with the tip. I guess enough people fall for it that he keeps trying the miscalculation.

Cool Environment. Don’t ask for anything but a vanilla haircut because they can’t do it. You still walk out looking vanilla. It is like a museum which is cool. Should have been better for $40 dollars.

Went in for a shape up/trim apprehensively as I have been growing out my hair for a year and a half now. Enjoyed a nice Guinness and received one the best haircuts I have ever had. Rick was an amazing barber with great conversation and I would definitely recommend.

Great place for the history of mens grooming. It has a vast selection of products and services. Reservations are highly recommended and give at least 1 hour or more for services as they pamper you.

If you like to have a proper shave, one can get all he needs here. Including the shave itself. If you are like me, and like to do it yourself, shave oils, aftershave, brushes, and anything else you like is available. Great classic haircuts in a non-salon barbershop, and a pint, or whiskey while you wait. Who could ask for more. Dont walk in. You will need an appointment, so plan ahead.

The services and products are great but they make it tough to be a customer. The line is always busy. I have stopped in for an impromptu shave too - the shop is empty but no one is there take walk ins so its hours before the next available appointment. If it was easier id spend more here!

I went here with a few guys from a wedding party. The atmosphere here was akin to an old school barber shop and the treatment was no different. We were offered drinks while we waited for our shaves and the shaving experience was mind blowing. Ive never had such a nice shave in my life. Honestly, havent felt a baby face like that in years.

Worst hair cut i have had since gradeschool. what normally includes a shampoo (this didnt, though it was promised) it was over in just over 5 minutes. no consideration for shape or style to suit me, i asked for a tidy up cut and to cut some length. one would assume a professional would consider the clients face structure when styling, i came out with a what one might consider a bowl cut or bob.. severely dissapointing. $40 later and i am more not happy. beware, theres a reason no ones in there when you walk by i guess

This is my go to place for a haircut. All of the people that work there are super friendly. And Aidan is always a pleasure to talk with. He has quite a cache of life stories.

The owner is witty, a pleasurable manly NO sissy dandy, and this place is for detailed oriented refined gentlemen. Places like this are almost extinct and its a damn shame. This country needs more social interactions in a place like this.

Even though aiden and gill has a very good reputation, I felt like the location on magazine provided me with a Supercuts quality hair cut and bad customer service. Mariana cut my hair and it was a quick non detailed cut. For the price I paid, I expect an amazing cut that takes more than 20 minutes and is very detailed. I am Hispanic and have thick hair and asked for a taper and a hard part. The hard part wasnt straight and my taper fade did not blend well with the top of my hair which was long. I told her to not cut the top and she did. I told her to line my beard up and she didnt. I felt like a number and she had to get me in and out as fast as possible. Furthermore the front receptionist was very rude to my girlfriend who was waiting for me. It was a very unpleasant experience, and I dont recommend this place to anyone with ETHNIC HAIR or anyone who is used to getting good quality haircuts. The only good thing they offer is the beer and beard products.

Not impressed... went in for a beard trim and neck shave. Beard was shaved uneven had to point out unevenness a couple times, still not happy. I should know better than to let anyone shave my beard lol.And the neck trim was with an electric razor.. totally not worth $40 + tip, even with the beer. In Pensacola, neck trim with a straight razor is $12.

Overpriced cut for a mediocre experience.I asked for a fade and a beard trim, left with a Mohawk and a crooked mustache.

I was there yesterday and had Mike give me a hot shave and afterwards he explained all the products that would benefit myself for shaving like that at home. Awesome job Mike product works great just like you said it would. Will be back next time Im in town. Highly recommended gentleman!!!!

Felt very great clips. No attention to detail at all. Very haphazard with the clippers, did zero blending with scissors, and doesnt give you/or use a mirror to show you the back and sides. Also, side burns uneven.

Recently stopped in as I usually do when in NOLA, great selection of hard to find mend cologne and shaving accessories ..... The store is like something youd find in NYC .... great unusual fragrances ... worth the stop in .... Most stuff is high end quality so bring your credit-card...

Mr. Gill grimmaced when I told him I was a conservative Republican who supported Trump but I totally forgive him. Its a very old-fashioned store culturally well-suited to genuine Palaeoconservatives like me...

I went there (Im a local) to purchase a DE safety razor. The sales associate John who helped was a really pleasant, good guy but didnt know much about their limited Merkur selection. The barber who then helped me had really limited knowledge and tried to sell me finish blades (mini sized ones) for a full size Merkur 33; even after I asked if she was sure they would fit...Im sure Aidan Gill himself is very knowledgable but it seems their barbers r either very inexperienced or just not knowledgeable at all with shaving tools.I got a shave there too last year from a 25 year old guy. Not very good, still had some rough patches. For 55$ a shave ($40 + tax and tip), I thought it was crazy that they use a Mach 3...if ur paying London or NYC prices ($40/shave) they should use a straight edge or Safety razor. Most places in London charge half off if u ask for a Mach 3 instead of a straight edge too.gI wanted to really like this place, but they charge $85 (w/o tax) for a Merkur 33c which is sold for $28 on Amazon or west coast shaving.

We showed up late for a shave, which is on us. However, to be unwilling to provide services after 15 minutes despite 5 employees standing around without a single customer in the store is horrendous service and a suspect business plan.

I just got back from my first haircut at Aidan Gill and I really enjoyed it. I was greeted by the front desk guy, asked to sit in the red chairs in the back and waited a few minutes for Paula to finish her cut before mine. I was offered Something to drink, like water, coffee, whiskey, whatever youd like. It was 10:30 in the morning, so I opted for the coffee. Beginners mistake.Anyways, the hair washing was nice, and as comfortable as the awkward backward chair with your head cradling between the hard sides of a ceramic sink could be. It was pretty private, quiet, and warm.Next, Paula asked me questions about how I wanted my hair cut, some basic things, then got to work. She was professional, fun, and at the end of the entire 35 minute cut, I was very happy with the results. I purchased the molding clay she used on my hair (Aveda Mens, $22), then paid for the haircut ($40 + 20% tip). While its not the cheapest haircut Ive ever had, Im convinced it will be a easy-to-replicate scene. Theres nothing I dislike more about a salon than having the stylist be unavailable when I need a cut, and having to go to someone else. Paula is great, and Ill be coming back. This time, Ill get the whiskey.UPDATE - Ive been going for a year now and have gotten consistantly solid cuts from Nathan. I had one bad experience, getting an emergency cut before an event. I went back a few days later and Aiden himself cut my hair, fixing the previous barbers mistake. Henceforth, Ill be keeping my appointments with Nathan.Further, their shaving oil is a nice addition to my dob kit. I have a beard, and therefore only shave my neck, usually fresh out of the shower without oil. Winston and Aiden suggested I try their oil, and its made all the difference. Smoother shaves for sure. They also suggested I check out the Razor Pit, a strop made of rubber and plastic. Its kept my blade sharp for the past month, which is pretty impressive. Good people, who know their art. And the Guinness is always perfectly poured.

The customer service goes above and beyond. The employees are not only knowledgable but also enthusiastic about the stores products and services.

Expensive haircuts and straight razor shave. they have an extensive merchandise section. the pricy haircut also comes with a scotch or beer. that helps numb the pain of the price tag.

Very few people in the shop on a tues afternoon but said they were booked for 2 days and that it was very hard to get a walk in shave - why so AG?
